Sainsbury's in South Norfolk

Been here before several times and I accept it for what it is… a supermarket cafe. However, those considering avocado on sourdough my advice is to avoid it like the plague - I was really looking forward to it, but what arrived was slop! The sourdough wasn’t toasted, wasn’t buttered and the avocado… well let’s say it was more a puree. Also ordered a portion of hash browns (got 1 / which fell apart upon putting the fork in), and two sausages of which one was anemic and barely cooked and when the fork went in a load of watery something squired out. The only thing decent on the plate was the large flat mushroom! Don’t bother with this dish it was rank.

Very poor service, lengthy wait for less than mediocre food. The menu seemed to be good but the food did not represent the promise.

Visited here one lunchtime and was very disappointed. The staff were lovely and friendly but the food was awful. We waited about half an hour for our food and when it arrived it was inedible 3 hard dry chicken nuggets and a undercooked potato with a black bit in it. There are no chips allowed on the kids meals anymore as it’s a new healthy eating initiative, which is great but i take my children out for a treat they can eat healthy at home. The soup was cold and didn’t taste very nice. Such a shame as sainsburys cafe was a lovely lunch pre covid but it’s really gone downhill.

Came in to the cafe at 11:00am Sunday morning. The boy on the till didn’t have a clue what he’s doing. I’ve waited over 35 minutes for my breakfast and still isn’t here. I ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate to have with my breakfast. They were both cold also. No staff members came over to tell us why there’s such a wait. I’m disgusted with Sainsbury’s customer services. This is long water in Costessey. If you want a breakfast it’s quicker to cook it yourself. Not impressed.

Como mi cocina estaba ocupada por el contenido de mi salón, debido a mi piso, mi esposa y yo decidimos tomar nuestro desayuno en el café de Sainsbury. Tuve el gran desayuno (no tan grande), ella optó por huevos revueltos, aguacate y salmón. La mía fue muy decepcionante, Wetherspoon hace el mejor desayuno por este dinero. Mi esposa estaba más complacida con la de ella. No pude comer mis salchichas, era muy pobre.

I needed one thing to eat, it was 1330 and I’de just fuelled my car, so Sainsbury’s was the obvious choice. Light and spacious, this could be so nice, but with just one person serving, and endless old folk ordering lunch and paying in cash, it took me 10 minutes to get served. The cappuccino was OK, although the server was no barista. The croissant I chose was what you’d expect - they’re on sale downstairs in the store after all. Last week I was in Eastern Europe. Today I thought I’d returned, but taken back to 1970. I guess this is what old folk in Norfolk prefer.

This lunch was abominable. I don’t think the sprouts were even cooked. They were totally hard couldn’t get a fork into them. No stuffing or chipolata as advertised. Barely warm. Worst meal I’ve ever had there.

.... but very good and clean. After a couple of disastrous experiences on this site it was the safest option. Lovely hot chocolate.

Three of us went for breakfast on Sunday. Cost £17 worst ever had. The eggs were not cooked, the beans looked like they had sat on the plate of a hour then reheated, the toast well never had anything like it it was cheap bread, no toast colour but the crusts were so hard you couldn't eat them. Hash brown was ok. Disappointing cafe empty. Don't understand as all that lovely fresh food in the store itself and gold is bad.

Terrible food, horrible service, for a restaurant that is in a supermarket..!! Nothing good to say about it.

We had a breakfast here before taking my dad Sunday shopping. We were served very quickly and the food was very hot and good value. The pot of tea was also very good. We will return soon

Great for a quick bite or drink. Some items are pricey, but are very good quality. For what is essentially just a supermarket cafe, it is outstanding.

Great staff always polite and helpful, clean and tidy restaurant with prompt and courteous service. Nice to sit back and relax on the sofas read the paper and enjoy the coffee

I have eaten here several times as well as other Sainsbury’s cafes. The omelette here is done well and is very fluffy. Service fairly quick but I have noticed like another reviewer that the cutlery in not very clean. Sainsbury’s cafe meal prices have gone up recently so it’s not such good valve now.

Just had a scone and coffee in here this morning, the knives in the cutlery drawer were disgusting, one was actually caked in old food. Place was so busy my comment to the staff went nowhere. Horrid place.

Called in today for tea of JACKETPOTATOE and cheese and beans plus pot of tea very nice quick service

Clearly there are problems at Sainsbury’s Cafe this morning. Long queue for the one person serving, doing the till and making coffee by herself. Really polite and apologetic, advised of a 20min for food delay, 40mins later our breakfast arrived, cold and burnt, on dirty plates. Come on Sainsburys... sort it out!

Awful experience, waited 45 minutes after being told 25 which was bad enough when it was half empty. We only wanted to breakfasts and kids nuggets and sausages and mash. Was told that they can only do it as fast as the ovens cook, nothing we ordered was cooked in an oven!!!! All grill or microwave. Do it at homes in 15 minutes and that’s without all the pre prepared stuff they have!!! Kids meal only had three tiny nuggets and few chips and the runny eggs were really Over cooked. Its not good enough Sainsbury’s.

Shop here often. The prices have shot up since the beginning of the year, so I shop here less now. They do offer a good range of vegetarian stuff, especially my rude health milk, which is difficult to find. Lower your prices Sainsburys...then the shoppers will return.

Have tried various places for breakfast and expected more than the Morrisons, Asda chains as Sainsburys tend to laud themselves as being more exclusive. The scrambled eggs were very dry and cold - I had to ask them to take it back!

good value food - large eating area, short queue times and fairly fast food preparation. If you need something quick tasty and not expensive its ideal. I had the ham egg n' chips and it was scrummy

Stopped here for a coffee and bite to eat after a long journey. Service was a bit slow but the food and prices were great. Fish and chips yummy. Spacious restaurant as well. Will call back again in the not so distant future.

We enjoy coming into Sainsbury's for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Good choices, cheerful staff, lovely food and plenty of space. Good prices too.

Popped in for a quick lunch got a cheese and onion toasty when it was brought heated up to the table the bread was hard to little dots of onion blink and you would of missed them. The mugs were stained down the sides and looked like they had.nt been washed and were sticky not impressed at all for £13 would of expected a little better

Large restaurant area which on our visit needed a bit of loving care. Food offering fair and service OK.

Been to sainsburys many times, but this was the first visit into the resturant. It is very spacious, light airy and other than a food bits on the floor under our table kept clean. The toilets are exceptionally clean. Meals and snacks available and the coffee and cake selection very good.although he resturant us on the first floor there us a lift to make it accessible to everyone.

We called in for a quick meal before going back to the hospital and both me and my husband had the gammon, double egg and chips. Absolutely worth the money and we both ate every single bit of it. If you knew me you'd know this was a one off thing. I hate eating out. Sainsburys, Longwater, Norwich have this dish down to perfection every time we have eaten it.

Well Sainsburys is Sainsburys, you can do your shopping and have something to eat, easy parking it's situated on a retail park where other shops are available

Nice breakfast, quick and cheap with a great variety of choice. My daughters little meal was ideal for her age and her egg was perfect

This is the best Sainsburys I have visited. Enormous with everything from an apple to large tv. Also nice restaurant with good simple food.

Food was ok.Could have been a bit hotter.Need to update menu in hot weather as no salad options.Use to do a lovely chicken ceasar salad.Don' t really want winter menu in the summer.Staff were very helpful.Were not kept waiting too long and café was spotless.Sort the menu out Sainsburys with more choice too.

By far the best supermarket cafes for the money - quality is consistent and meals are good value - coffee better than the high street chains and staff are always pleasant - this branch has plenty of room and is airy and bright

I often have lunch here with my mum and my two boys. Good menu selection at great prices! We can all eat for under £20! Lots of space, plenty of seating, friendly bunch of staff.

We only wanted two coffees but waited in a queue for about 15 minutes and that was with only two people in front of me, however by this time quite a few people were adding to the queue.
