Great fish & chips which are 5 star. Let down by tables not cleared and front of house not friendly. Whilst we have a dog don’t think it is appropriate for dogs due to limited space. Fine outside but not inside. Think unfair to dogs and customers :(

Such a lovely place to eat, with amazing views. Really amazing staff who accommodated our change of order without hesitation, our fault as we hadn’t realised my Dad couldn’t have one of the items on his breakfast due to treatment he’s undergoing and they replaced it without question, even offering various options. Couldn’t have asked for better service, we were both really impressed with the food and how lovely all of the staff were.

If you ever decide to go for lunch, go completely empty stomach and you will never regret it as the whole experience was so good the portions were so big and food was delicious. The waiters were so helpful and the service was excellent. Thank you very much. Have recommended it to all my friends and neighbours.

Arrived today, very busy, about to take the last table. And an old couple and middle age man, said that that table was reserved for them, I question and said “what specifically this table , I didn’t think you could reserve tables? “ they shrugged and I reluctantly found another table (squash in may I add with my husband baby & pram & highchair. so as not to cause a seen. Initially I thought it was just an obnoxious customer , however it then became clear that they knew the ginger girl working, clearly friends or no doubt related and were being given special treatment. I confirmed when ordering that you deffiantly can’t reserve tables for 3 people on a Saturday. So all round disappointing, when other people get special treatment a shame as this was my first visit and I’d been looking forward to visiting.

Thoroughly enjoyed the fish & chips and was a Monday so excellent price £10. Probably best in Folkestone! Service was first class from Connor who works tirelessly clearing tables and checking everything ok. Shame we haven’t seen him on Sundays for a while. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Judging from other reviews I think we must have visited on an off day! Tables were dirty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. Staff were efficient but unfriendly. Our chips were lovely well cooked but soft on the inside. Great batter but my cod was a little dry, I suspect over cooked and badly frozen. Tea and coffee were ok but the wine was best to give a miss, I switched to water.

Firstly, an admission. I have known the owner here for years, but wouldn’t bother to leave a good or bad review if i didn’t think it was valid. We visited the Sailbox for brunch on New Years Day, having visited for breakfast on a couple of occasions previously & also for a drink on several occasions. We arrived about 11.15 and there was only one table free, which I think speaks volumes. The wind was whipping up a wild sea which made for a spectacular view. My wife & son had the full English harbourmaster while I ordered the kippers & poached eggs, washed down with latte coffees. All the ingredients were top quality (I use the same butcher) and cooked to perfection. My son is a somewhat fussy eater & didn’t want some of the items with his breakfast, but the waitress said he could have extra of some of the other items to balance it up which was a nice touch. So all in all it was a good way to start the New Year with the added bonus of having kippers for breakfast without the smell throughout the house! Thanks Mark & team!

Visited Sailbox when visiting Folkestone from London with family, we popped in Monday for some dinner and I don't usually go through the bother or writing reviews but have to say it was the best fish and chips I have tasted in a long time. I had to ask what the ingredient was for their batter, which was perfect and delicious. The fish was wonderfully fresh and moist and extremely flavoursome also, my girlfriend had pancakes which she also said were tasty and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and cleared the plates.

Poppedvto Folkestone for the fireworks and fancied Fush n Chips. We'd been to Sailbox in summer for drinks and saw the food being served and it looked amazing. So we gave it a go and we were not disappointed it was hot, fresh and very tasty and very good portions. The Cod Dippers abd curry sauce were are a great choice would recommend. We will be back thank you.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the food as I am still sitting here waiting for my food after 54mins. I cannot understand how it can take so long for a few cod bites bacon pretzel and some loaded fries. Well the fries and cod bites arrived and I will say the cod bites are fine. However the fries are insipid and cold and the so called bacon pretzel is Franky not a pretzel. I can honestly say being a local resident that I am discussed with the service and the quality of the restaurant.

We keep returning as the food is amazing. The fish Tacos are full of so many flavours perfectly cooked and presented. My husband enjoyed his chicken stack Infact we hardly spoke as the food so good. We also love this location summer or winter overlooking the sea. Great atmosphere. Parking on the Harbour Arm makes this venue accessible too. Thanks Sailbox.

Weekend stay in Folkestone and stopped at Sailbox for a snack. Good atmosphere, quick service. We had the fish tacos and chicken stack. Both were delicious and fresh. The fish & batter was so light and had plenty of flavour. Dog friendly. Lived our first experience. Will definite return.

Excels both for their fish and chips and the view across the bay to the white cliffs of Dover. Our cod was cooked to perfection with a crisp batter and proper chips. Staff are cheerful and helpful. Wonderful selection of craft beers and a decent wine by the glass.

This is such a lovely location with a great food menu and a large selection of coffees. Unfortunately, the attitude towards allergens was extremely disappointing. I have a nut allergy and expressed this at the till. I ordered a bagel and a coffee and took the drink outside. A member of staff then came out and said the chef was not happy to make the food with how many nuts there are in the kitchen. She said there are nuts in the toaster where my bagel would be toasted. I said I was happy to have the bagel not toasted if this was easier. The reply was “there’s pistachios all over the sides”. I was quite shocked by the response and opted to get a refund, after being offered a cake instead. Bearing in mind it was 9am for breakfast. I was very disappointed with the situation and clearly they don’t clean as they go and with the amount of allergies around I think this is quite concerning. I understand when told cross contamination is a possibility and being completely allergen free is not guaranteed but this was not the case in this situation.

Went here for lunch with 3 young children. Trying to support our local independent eateries after a play in the coastal park. We arrived at 12.40 and after queuing to order for 5 minutes were told we would have to order off lunch menu. That was not a problem. However, we were told we couldn’t see the menu until 1pm. Not sure why we couldn’t look at it. The server then said it would be a 20/30 minute wait for food after ordering post the 1pm handing out menu and new queue. We couldn’t wait that long with young children so left. Please reconsider this .

Amazing unique place to eat in a converted container with great views over harbour. Brunch served to 12/12.45 with other menus and drinks served throughout the day. Outside space with bar for when it’s warmer but today we thoroughly enjoyed the brunch with a hot drink.

I arranged for fourteen guys to have lunch around one table overlooking the sea. The meal including drinks was excellent...which Mark and his team can be justly proud of. While understandably there was a limited menu , all meals came out together hot ,well presented , good quality and enjoyable . The setting overlooking the harbour was also ideal. Well done to the team.

It’s very cool. The view is great. The young woman on the counter taking orders was very unfriendly. Food was nice with good quality ingredients but we were totally baffled by there only being margarine. Come on now. The people want real butter.

Awful..... we had the full English Breakfast ... you could see our meals on the pass for at least 5 minutes... eggs were over cooked, potatoe poppers were cold not even warm, mushroom was raw.. all else barely warm. Other reviews confirm this....no table service... had to pay before it was served... would not recommend...

Not overly priced, but the food was lukewarm when it arrived which was disappointing. They also expect you to leave a tip (despite having to queue and order at the counter). If you don’t you have to come back to collect your drinks yourself which seems petty.

A most varied and interesting menu. Good selection of wines and beers. Staff are friendly and helpful. On this visit we went for the fish and chips and were not disappointed. Cod was very fresh and the batter crisp but not too thick. Chips were also crisp on the outside but with soft centres. Both fish and chips were golden brown and mouth watering. Most enjoyable meal. We will return.

We were wandering around the Quay for breakfast & came upon the Sailbox. This restaurant is in a shipping container of bright yellow & has fantastic outdoor seating with a view of the sea & dandy beach. We opted for a full English & poached eggs on toast with a latte & a beer. The breakfasts were delicious, the eggs had super orange yolks & were cooked to perfection. The coffee was also tasty & smooth. Our little boy enjoyed his glass of milk & the sausage from my plate (he's a very picky eater), which I was disappointed not to try as it looked good. The staff were polite & helpful.

Called in for breakfast, lovely setting/view, nice food but let down by poor service. Firstly a long wait, nearly 40 mins for breakfast, which is fine if you know, but we weren’t advised when we ordered. Also there are no table numbers which seem to confuse the waitresses. Our teas were offered to 3 other tables before I went to claim them. Same for our breakfasts which were touted around the outside seating area, and again I had to go and claim them, we were actually inside. I did advise the waitress who suggested it was a common occurrence

we've been about three times now, always for brunch/lunch. it's always good food. It's not been too busy so far and there's plenty of decent spots to sit inside. You have to order at the counter which seems a bit pointless when it's not busy, why not simply come over to the table to take an order?

This is new restaurant on the harbour arm it's light airy with fabulous views over channel the staff are lovely the overall appearance of the place is great the food is mainly light bites which is good as so many places start off like this then start doing complicated fancy recipes which don't work we opted for a sausage in a toasted pretzel bun what came out was a toasted bun but with 2 great big sausages plonked on top in a bowl the sausages so big they swamped the bun & had to be eaten separately with a knife & fork which I did find strange as we were expecting a basic sausage bap Breakfast is served til 12 & that looked nice as there were a few choices we will return maybe earlier for breakfast or something else other than the sausage bap

Sunday lunch was fresh, tasty and amazing gravy. Great portion sizes and friendly staff. Comfortable, clean dining and bar area. Its a winner at £15 per head. Also has a car park. Will definitely return. Also have 2-3 course menu for Fri/Sat which looks very reasonable.
