Without doubt, the best curry house and takeaway in Basingstoke. Never disappointed. Mac and the team there treat everyone excellent with the best tasting food I’ve ever had. Thoroughly recommend.

I had a delivery direct last night! The onion bhajis were too greasy & too floury! Pretty tasteless. I also ordered Chicken Tikka Balti. It had no spice & a creamy tomato sauce. No balti flavour & creamy? Very disappointing.

Had my first takeaway from Saffron Tandoori last night. It was fantastic, great taste, generous portions and very reasonably priced. Compares favourably against other Indian restaurants in Basingstoke. Very much recommended, will be making many more visits in the future.

We had our daughters birthday there it was busy the staff was promt the service was great they couldn't do enough for us us the food came out on time pipeing hot and was very tasty one of the best in our town will be back soon cheers lads loads of different choices and dishes very reasonable but drinks little pricey

When we ordered a birthday meal, £120 worth of food, we where told 1hr 10 mins, it was over 2 hrs, so over an hour late. Don't EVER use these guys, total gamble. And when you give a bad review, as you can see, their attitude is apalling.

Awful service , Delivery took over 2 hours , when it finally arrived the curries barely had any meat in them , just sauce and potato. Absolute scam of a place .

The Saffron is a great place for a delicious curry and great service. We have visited many times and it never disappoints.

Had a very disappointing takeaway from here on our last order. We had friends over and usually the food is decent; not on this occasion. Where to start… Stale Poppadoms (chewy), the kids curries were watery and bland, so much so they didn’t eat them and they never leave curry. Mixed starter consisted of 2 samosas, nothing else, must have forgot the other things. A curry described as pulled chicken was large pieces of chicken with bones in. We spent £120+ no free wine or even a bottle of coke as advertised. A friends curry was advertised as mild and creamy, ended up being a tomato based sauce ? Not described properly. I’m certain the regular chef was off that day, that’s the only excuse for such a poor showing. Will be going elsewhere for future orders. Was so angry with the standard of food that if I called up to complain, I’d of simply lost it. Must do better!

We were recommended Saffron Tandoori by friends and were really looking forward to it. We spent £120 and could haven’t felt more disappointed. The best part was that it was so bad that it was actually entertaining. So where to start? It’s probably best to list:- The mixed starter consisted of 2 tiny samosas (where was the rest of it as advertised?). The poppadoms were stale and soggy (went straight in the bin). There were bones in the murgh makhani (it wasn’t pulled chicken - it was actually completed unpulled and the sauce wasn’t as described, plus very watery). The chicken tikka masala was completely tasteless (was the first time the kids have left a masala from a curry house). The chicken kapsila was nothing like described (was like a watery tomato stew and nothing like a “creamy coconut, almond mild sauce”). The special fried rice was completely bland (absolutely not “special” in any way). No free bottle of wine (to drown disappointment) or coke as advertised for an order over £100. All in all was a terrible experience and wasn’t even at the standard of curry sauces from a jar. Not sure how you can get a curry so wrong!

Always a fantastic meal and the staff are very attentive. It's a small restaurant which makes it tight inside which is a product of how good it is. Takeaway is always good but not as good as eating in the restaurant. Go treat yourself

Friday night takeaway ordered at 8.15pm, 22.31pm still not arrived. Tried phoning 59 unanswered calls gave up phoning after 2 hours of waiting. Cannot review the food as we haven't had any, I'm sure it would of been as tasty as usual. If you are busy have the decency to email or text to say you cannot fulfill this order.

The food is always good. The mixed biriani is to die for. Traditional North Indian tweaked for the English palate in the usual way. The staff are always very friendly and responsive. But don’t just take my word for it, whenever anyone in a Basingstoke Facebook group asks for curry recommendations, the Saffron Tandoori always features. It’s definitely in the top 5 in Basingstoke, and there’s a lot of stiff competition from 3 South Indian restaurants that have opened up in the past few years.

Heard good things about this place. Always busy when we walked past so thought we’d give it a go one Friday night. Turned up about half six. Restaurant was half full and the tables did seem to be laid out for reserved for bookings but I asked one of the staff if we could have a table for two. Not even a hello. Just an extremely rude “Ain’t got nuffink” I asked again as I thought I misheard but not I was greeted with the same rude one liner from the tiny little waiter. I appreciate that a restaurant is busy and cannot accommodate walk ins but there is no need to be rude like this little person was. Be polite and I’ll come back and recommend it to friends but now I’ll only advise people not to go. Surely it’s not that hard to understand?

Found us a table even when they were full.

Had a delivery from here tonight. This was my 1st time using them and will be my last. The meat was incredibly gristly and the yoghurt mint sauce was rancid! The flavour of the sauce was good but that is about it.

Fantastic! Lovely food! My local Indian restaurant from now excellent service, food, atmosphere and best of all, free shots of Sambuca and Baileys! Will definitely return again with friends they also enjoyed it too last night.

Poppadoms were a little under done. Lamb samosa was OK. Jalfrazi was too sweet. Naan was doughy. First and last time ordering from here. Average at best. Much better Indian's available

Worst Hosting and service experience. They need to change their attitude towards the customers. I went to dine in with my own energy drink with creatinine as because of gym. The waiter came to me and very rudely said and I quote: "This is the last time that you have brought drink from outside." And many other things in a rude manner. We just visited the restaurant for the very first time. I apologised and he was going on and on about it. I was with my wife and we felt embarassed. I wanted to leave the restaurant without taking anything because of the rudeness when the second person jumped and in a threatening manner said that I will have to pay the bill of everything no matter what. When I already had apologised twice. Still I paid for the food as it felt wrong even after getting embarrassed by the staff. Never ever gonna go to this restaurant again.

Would never recommend anyone to waste their time and money in this restaurant. Rude staff extremely unprofessional, didn’t even want to try it.

Amazing food Amazing Staff, very friendly and go above and beyond to make your evening special. Went there on Saturday Evening with friends for a joint birthday celebration and had an amazing time. Atmosphere in the restaurant is happy everyone having a lovely time. Will definitely be back especially for some more Peacock Mango and Lime Cider

Beautifully cooked. Had a chicken korma dish for myself, vegetarian for my daughter, cheese and naan and pilau rice.

Been coming to Basingstoke number of years (visiting friends) and always make a point of visiting Saffron Tandoori Restaurant in Brighton Hill with them (on several days). The staff are welcoming and very polite and the food is always delicious. In fact all the dishes are great. Thank you Saffron. See you next time.

The Saffron is easily the best Indian cuisine restaurant in Basingstoke. I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The food is so tasty. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and it has a great atmosphere.

One of the best places to eat authentic indian food, the service is fantastic and the food is the greatest in the area, you can order a delivery if thats convenient for you. Overall one of the best food I have eaten in a while. TASTY!

The last two times we have ordered from here it has taken over two hours to get our food. When we tried to call there is no answer. The food might be good but not worth the long wait.

Highly recommended takeaway service. Ordering was easy and delivery was bang on time. The quality was as expected as dining at the restaurant. Have used a number of time and never disappointed.

Service was great..polite attentive servers ..BUT… my main ‘tandoori mixed grill’ which was brought out on a sizzling skillet was hopelessly over cooked..the lamb was really chewy but I was hungry and don’t like to waste food so I ate it (I have strong teeth)..the chicken was stringy and the kebab was ‘bouncy’ in texture..again..overcooked..the ‘naan’ which was served with it was in no way freshly baked/cooked in a tandoor…if anything I have to question…was it externally sourced?…the rice and extras were the usual fare and acceptable..would I go again ?…No…average at best 2.5/5..there’s much better elsewhere in Basingstoke.

DO NOT GO!!!! My mum ordered the wrong food so I called politely too try and change the order only to be invited by completed rudeness by who seems too be the head of the restaurant. He was very passive aggressive down the phone and was saying that the food had already been made so I could not change it. After back and forth he finally agreed as I thought my mum had already payed so I had an understanding although the amount of passive aggressiveness I was receiving down the phone. Going into the restaurant to pick up my food I was greeted with absolute rudeness by the same man and was told that actually the payment hadn’t been made so it wouldn’t have been a issue too correct the order. I am usually a very lienent and understanding person when it comes too customer service as I understand what it’s like dealing with customers but I have NEVER received customer service like that EVER. I do not recommend if you like dealing with polite waiters as this is far from it.

Rudest host I have ever come across, never ever had an experience in a restaurant as bad as I had there. The waiters passive aggressiveness was probably better than their bad, unreputable and overall bland food. Save your tips and money and get some better service and food down the Asda continental aisle;) Don’t.Waste.Your.Money.

2 hour wait for delivery. Phoned after an hour and fifteen minutes to be given mixed messages of why it was delayed, then told it was busy at the end of the call, expect they had missed the order but didn’t want to say. Told it would be another 15 mins, probably while they tried to get it cooked and then finally turned up 45 minutes later. A quick phone call after an hour to explain delay would have been appreciated. Shame as the food was good but no attempt to compensate, won’t be using again.

An excellent meal, as usual, to celebrate New Year. It was very busy but that did not impact on the high quality of food. This is the best Indian Restaurant in Basingstoke in my humble opinion. Great food and very friendly staff. See you soon.

I ordered my dinner to be delivered at 7:30pm and it turned up at 10:30pm . I phoned you 80 times to try and find out what was happening to my order, but you had turned your phone off , which you have done before when you have been very busy. How do you think it is acceptable to deliver food 3 hours late. I have been using you for 20 years and your food is very good but your delivery is pathetic.

Staff are really good and so is the food but sadly very slow due to the high amount of people not only sitting in but have ordered take away. Very understaffed

Pretty bad... Twice now have had food arrive not only very late but cold, wrong and flavourless. Both mains had very overcooked meat in sauce that tasted watered down & the cheese nan literally had what looks & tastes like burger cheese in it. We ate it because we were hungry. I'd have been disappointed if this was half the price to be honest. Come on sort it out.

Best Indian takeaway I've had in the longest time (I've had a series of terrible ones in the last year or so, not from here)! Ordered online, very quick and simple. Arrived well with in the time. Incredibly tasty, sauce was the perfect consistency, (I had the MURUG MAKHANI), they followed my extra instruction. Onion bhaji was tasty and not greasy, poppadoms were also great, nice and crispy. Garlic naan also good. There was an item missing, but they delivered it within 10 mins of me ringing, The person on the phone and both delivery people were very pleasant. They only lose a star (though really it only deserves half a star missing) because there was a bit of chicken bone in the main. Defo be ordering from here next time. Thanks

Been using this place regularly since lockdown! It is by far the most consistent Indian food I've ever had! Takeaway is always always delivered hot and promptly! Even in snow! Started eating there in the restaurant quite regularly recently and the choice of food and knowledge of the manager is amazing. I cant thank him enough for introducing me to several dishes I would of never considered before he explained how it is cooked and various spices they use! My favourite at the moment is the hyderabadi chicken! Absolutely amazing dish again one I would never of tried! So thanks again for an amazing experience and showing us how indian food is meant to be!

Tale out, didn't dine in.... thankfully. I have never been so appalled. Had a delivery of 2 curries. Lamb sag, korma. It was sub standard. We called to offer feedback and was grated with a sharp tone! Asked if we'd eaten Korma before! Spoken down too and told we were just trying for a refund! Absolutely not the case! A 5 minute conversation was turned to a 20 odd minute row with them being rude and absuive. I am absolutely disgusted! For a business owner to be this way is disgusting and as a business owner myself, I welcome feedback. I do not insult the customer presuming they just want a "FREE MEAL" as it was put to us! We eat out all the time and tried this place on a referral! Never again! Best in Basingstoke was his answer on the phone, hung up and was absolutely rude! We had a sloppy, greasy meal and wanted to give feedback. Petaks (a jar) was far tastier and better consistency! I do not recommend this establishment! They are giving sub standard food, with a terrible rude attitude when brought up on it. We are not dumb and will feedback when you are serving crap!

The food wasn't to the expected standard. But by far the biggest problem with this restaurant is the managers attitude and the ability to take feedback from customers. Accusations towards me that I was trying to get a fee meal is one of a response to a complaint. While like anyone unhappy with a service refund is a option it was not my reason to call. As the feedback didn't get taken seriously ive been left bitter, i dont want the refund but i hate the idea of getting a meal i couldn't eat and Being forced to pay £30 for the privilege im stuck. I've since called back and been told that I need to give back the food before I get a refund, I agreed I'm waiting for someone to collect. I have called again, no drivers could collect my meal. So a guess a refund is not available. Im worried for these guys, competition is strong here. This place is at risk as so many do things better and treat customers with respect.

Visited on a Friday evening - definitely glad we had booked! It was really busy, but the service was still quick and they were friendly. Food was really good. Recommended to friends already and looking to return soon.
