Saffron Summer in Reigate and Banstead

I have been ordering from them for years but this time I am so disappointed with the order. The Chicken Biryani the chicken was very tough n chewy. The Dum ka Dal the quantity is so much reduced to a very small portion probably not enough for even 1 person if you plan to have with rice. I am utterly disappointed. They are offering discounts on item now but I wish they continued with the quality instead.

This restaurant is just awesome!!!! The menu is so different to other Indian restaurants, the dishes are rare and are cooked in a way that makes them healthy. No grease in sight! Their drinks list is extensive and very reasonably priced. If you are looking for something different, this is the place. I will definitely be going back again, and very soon.

The chicken trilogy , zeera aloo methi and karwari fried fish were amazing . Very cordial and hospitable. Will come again to try the rest .

After moving away from Zeera (once the great Village Brasserie), we looked at the other offerings in Reigate. We have used Sumner Saffron before and thought it was really good…. But then they felt appropriate to raise their prices to Mayfair prices. Good to see Reigate people have expressed their frustration and walked away hence they have now reduced their prices to acceptable levels. So we ordered… really nice, tasty and you can taste how fresh it is. Why are onion bhaji’s not crispy anymore in curry restaurants maybe shouldn’t be traditionally….. please keep prices reasonable

came in here on the off chance they had a table for two on a busy evening. (we abandon our reservations in Banana tree as the couple next to us have been waiting two hours for their main course). maybe the fact they could accommodate was due to the food being a little priceier than normal but I do think it's a lot classier than the average ruby. interesting menu options made for a really pleasant evening with great comic service from caring waiter. the service really was good the waiter with the curly hair and glasses really was a positive addition to our evening. would recommend highly!

Very nice and very different food to your normal curry house. Consequently well worth a visit. Slightly more expensive than the norm but for the little extra you pay it’s worth it. Has now become our favourite. The chef obviously puts a lot of thought into his dishes.

Our favourite restaurant in the Reigate/Redhill area. We especially like that the food is healthy, not greasy like other Indian restaurants. They take care to give special consideration to the wishes of spice strength for their customers. Always a special treat in a lovely atmosphere.

Turned up on a Tuesday night and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. Service was very friendly and attentive but not pushy. Food choice was a little limited but quality and taste were fantastic.

The gentleman serving us was so kind and shared lots of interesting information about the ingredients I’d never heard before. He even offered to help look after our baby while we ate! went here as a quick substitute and was very pleasantly surprised. food was really good, service was OK. the place was small and obviously popular takeout as constant noise from orders coming in.

Poor food and, grossly overpriced. The poppadoms look like they have come out of a Skips packet. They have a 'wild boar vindaloo' which is a few lumps of meat frozen meat in a tomato sauce. We wondered why there were so few people here. Mystery solved.

We have been regular visitors to Saffron Summer ever since it opened. The food is always of the highest standard and the menu is refreshingly different from your usual curry-house fare. Admittedly, their prices are a little above some other local Indian restaurants but it's worth paying a bit extra for a high quality product. The service is always friendly and attentive. Saffron Summer is definitely the best Indian restaurant in the Reigate area.

Best Indian we’ve ever had!! We decided to order some starters and sides to share so we could try lots of different things from the menu and everything was 10/10! The Dum Ka Dal, Saag Aloo and Chicken Trilogy are must-haves! Every dish we tried was so full of flavour - we’re already thinking about the next time we can go back to try the curries which sounded amazing too. Service was great and very attentive. Will definitely be our go-to Indian from now on!

Great service and amazing food. So many restaurants serve bland food but not this one, you can taste the different flavours. Best Indian restaurant in the area. There was a special deal when we visited, on Tuesday evening, buy one main dish get the second free. Will be my go to Indian restaurant from now on.

Love Saffron Summer, still by far the best curry we've had. Always get amazing take away from here too. Can't eat in any of the other curry houses in Reigate anymore. Old Delhi Butter Chicken is the best main dish on the menu : )

This was my first visit to the restaurant but it won't be the last. Exceptional food and service. Brilliant dinner with a great wine list too.

Group of 8 visited. Food was average and certainly not worth the price they charge. Was quite tasteless and small portions. Not sure what was going on with the poppadoms ( individual biscuit size, around 8 each per person). Disappointing and won't be visiting again.

We had a fantastic team meal last night. There were eight of us in total and service was extremely friendly and attentive. Our water was constantly topped up, and any drinks, extra sides, extra rice orders weren't too much to ask. One of our dishes came out slightly later than the others, for which the manager apologised and checked in regularly to ensure everyone was happy with their meals. One of our team said the lamb Rogan Josh special was the best he'd ever had, and I can safely say we'd happily make this our regular team curry spot in Reigate going forward. Highly recommended. I'm not sure what has happened to this restaurant, it wasn't like this 3 years ago, mediocre food and extortionate prices,£186 for 3 of us! On top of this took me 30 mins to try and find somewhere to park.

The food was the best restaurant food I have ever eaten. The service was brilliant and the staff very friendly. The choice of food is very wide ranging including vegetarian options. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. I will return to this restaurant each time I go out to eat- that's how good it is.

One of the best authentic Indian restaurants I've been to. Don't expect your usual over salted and gigantic curries. This place caters to those who appreciate the intricacies of spice and herbs. The service is Michelin star quality and you will be hard pressed for a more romantic night out.

The food was OK but not spectacular, trying for an upmarket feel but need to up the good quality.

I was expecting quite a refined experience here with expertly combined flavours from the best in the business but I was really quite disappointed. My vegetarian jalfrezi had all the finesse of microwaved frozen vegetables stirred into some curry sauce just before serving. I can create a tastier curry and I'm just a mechanic. The Cobra was on the flat side too 👎🏽

3 couples. All experienced diners at Indian restaurants. This was a cut above the mustard! Not your usual fayre. Not terribly large portions, but unbelievable flavours in the dishes. Already planning our next visit!

Very underwhelming and disappointing curries. The chicken korma must have had like a cup of sugar in it and was more like a dessert than a savory which is obviously not you want for dinner. Tikka Masala was better but still rather disappointing. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Great service, excellent food. Rich and flavoursome. Keralan fish curry was gorgeous! Modern, high-end take on Indian dishes. Definitely the best we’ve found across Reigate/Horley/Redhill/Crawley/Horsham areas. If you want a “traditional” cheap greasy British Indian takeaway, this probably isn’t for you - but that’s why we keep coming back. Keep doing what you’re doing!

Lovely intimate restaurant. Friendly dedicated staff that made us feel welcome. Really enjoyed the chefs special butter chicken but did feel the hydrabadi lamb biriyani was over spiced (dry spices) - the yogurt provided along side certainly saved me. Will go for a lighter rice next time. A MUST TRY is the venison sheek kebabs - they were DEVINE!!! The staff encouraged us to follow social distancing rules and actively reminded us to wear masks as well as use their provided sanitisers. We had poppadoms to start, but these weren't your usual type & not as good also the chutneys to accompany were not authentic like you usually get & none of us really liked them..we asked for chicken tikka but got shredded bits of chicken instead, all in all not a particularly good experience plus it was very expensive...

No idea what has happened here since the old days of Clove which was a really nice restaurant. The new menu is quite limited with a small selection of what can be described as very random dishes, with a common theme of being very expensive. Wild boar Vindaloo?? Service was very slow but staff were friendly. Food quality was ok, nothing special and certainly not justifing the high prices. Adding on 10% service charge automatically was unwarranted. Avoid.

Saffron Summer is one of the best curry we've had in a very long time. It's the best in Reigate and Surrey by a long way! We regularly get takeaways from here too, they are always fantastic. The food is extremely fresh and not greasy

Great tasting food and amazing customer service

It’s marketed as a high end, high price & high quality restaurant so going in my expectations were high. Sadly the service is terribly slow and disappointing to an extent where we were about to leave. Having to wait 1h15m for a main is unacceptable. When the food was served, we sent a dish back as it was undercooked, the breads were dripping in fat, and overall not to that high quality we hoped for. A disappointing night overall soured by very slow service. I was amazed that after such a disappointing they had the audacity to add on then 10% service charge! We did come to an agreement in the end but they need to understand that most people don’t want to be waiting for that amount to time to eat. If you’re going to charge high prices people expect high quality overall. Overprice and underwhelmed would be my rating.

Dishoom may have the location and reputation but this unassuming restaurant in Reigate has me hooked. And should certainly give them a run for their money.
