We’ve been to the farm shop for food several times and sadly it’s gone downhill drastically since our last visit. The food was disappointing and there was very few options for lunch. The lady behind the counter was dismissive and rude, she didn’t even wipe down our table. The toilets were disgusting and need a good clean. My partner ordered a honey and almond roasted Camembert which didn’t come with honey or almonds. The chicken in my sandwich was chewy, looked like left overs and was pink- not what I expect for a £9 sandwich with no side! The place is generally looking run down and looks like it’s going under. We won’t be returning after our experience today.

Well what a disappointment been there before and the food was excellent but today very very average a very small selection and when it did come mine was delivered 10 minutes before my wife’s so mine was cold and my wife’s was undercooked. Normally there is very good selection of gluten free today next to non I think we will think twice before going again On a side note the farm shop butchers meat selection was also limited

We have been meaning to try this place for a while and finally got there. The carpark was gravel but we managed to squeeze our motorbikes into a tarmac spot. The staff were all very young ( it was a Sunday) but lovely and friendly and efficient. The coffee came quickly ( and was good) and the breakfasts not far behind, and they were pretty busy. The food was lovely, quality ingredients and well cooked my husband was in raptures over the bacon. Loos were good and there's a large seating area outside and a sandpit for children. The view is gorgeous.

This is the second time we have visited in the last 3 months and now it will be the last. The food is dreadful; it didn’t used to be like this, it used to be lovely, fresh, hot and presented beautifully. Whoever is in the kitchen now is inexperienced and the food is either stale or rock hard because it’s been ‘microwaved’ for too long. The service is so slow as well even with only 3 tables to serve. I fear this cafe and shop won’t be here by next year unless the owners do something dramatic now and rescue it. I’m so disappointed as this used to be a go to place for us to visit and I didn’t mind paying the high costs for quality and service, but they have both gone now, so I will take my money elsewhere.

We didn’t stay to eat lunch. We arrived at 11:45 and was told we were too late for breakfast and too early for lunch so all we could order was a coffe and a pastry. Not very helpful! I was told that I could not order Eggs Benedict even if we stayed as it was a ‘breakfast item’. So we left and went to another place who straightaway did me an Eggs Benedict and my friend a BLT.

This is such a tragedy! Saddleback used to be a brilliant little cafe and farm shop, but since being taken over it's become apparent the new owners have no idea how to run a cafe. Food service was slow despite there being one other customer in the store. To be served cakes and a warmed up sausage roll took a whopping 30 mins (keep in mind we were the only customers being served). The staff kept forgetting our order which meant we had to keep reminding them that we were missing food from our order. The whole thing was disastrous. What good is spending a fortune doing up the farm shop if the business is unwillingly to train its staff!

Thought we would try here after a pleasant visit a couple of years ago. Wow, the standards have dropped. Place not particularly busy, almost as many staff as customers. Staff seemed completely disinterested in any customer service. Felt like a group of school kids were running the place. Food took a farcical amount of time to be served. Was average quality. One dish had to be chased up as hadn’t arrived only for the staff member to say they thought we had already got it! We were interested in buying some meat for a bbq but, after standing at the deli section for ages, no staff took any notice so we went elsewhere in the end. Very sad. A Poundland Cobbs.

Lovely setting and dog friendly. We enjoyed our coffee and hot chocolate however the food was disappointing. Ordered pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, we did ask for crispy bacon however it came out like cardboard. The scrambled egg resembled more of an omelette and no butter provided on the toast which made it very dry. Service was poor. We had visited a few years ago and had a great lunch so overall it was a disappointing visit.

We went for lunch today and ordered avacado on toast, a toasted cheese sandwich and a jacket potato with beans and cheese. It wasn’t particularly busy and we weren’t told there was a wait on food when we ordered. Fast forward 45 minutes and we chased up our food only to be told there would still be a bit of a wait. We eventually got my husband and daughter’s food after an hour. I was told my toastie would just be a minute. After a further 10 minute wait (and the other’s having almost finished their lunch) I went back up to the counter to ask where my lunch was. It was sat waiting to be brought out and judging from the congealed cheese it had been sat there a while. The waitress told me she had wanted to bring it out but she had drinks to make.

We took our grandson for a treat. I am afraid it turned out a disappointment. We ordered 1 full English generally ok bacon over cooked. 1 scone that was inedible had to send it back had a cake as a replacement not impressed. The two grand children had pancakes and bacon, there opinions were bacon burnt, pancakes rubbery and stodgy. No problem with drinks, the girls serving tables were good under pressure. They were polite and helpful. The outstanding views unbeatable. Have been here many times in the past , one previous visit they had staff problems the chef refused to cook so we left. Hopefully this is not an ongoing problem, would like to visit again but I will have to hear that things have to improve first.

We were there for a family lunch- all good no complaints there BUT I made the mistake of buying some very expensive but lovely looking bhajis and some samosa- 4 and 3 and it came to around twenty pounds. Just tried to eat them with an Indian take away. The bhaji's are inedible and very, very dry. They fall apart when you cut into them and the centre has the consistency of flour - not onion. I threw them away. The samosa was not much better and was closer to a pasty with a soggy pastry instead of a crisp deep fried covering. It was also tasteless- never again- what a waste.

Although it has changed ownership, the soup is still the most expensive I’ve ever had (I mentioned this in a review several years ago - very average taste, fairly small bowl) accompanied by a slice of toast which had already been buttered. Surely a hunk of fresh bread with your own butter is preferable? Had to send back the soup as it was almost cold. There are jugs of luke-warm water to which you help yourself - I wonder how long they had been there. The glasses smelled awful. Staff very slow to clear tables - it wasn’t busy either.

This place has been in steady decline for months now. Thought we'd give it one more chance which was a mistake. The quality of the food is just poor compared to what it was a couple of years ago. I had to send my cheese and onion toastie back as there was no visible evidence of cheese or onion. The same sandwich came back with a bit more filling (not much more) but it was inedible. It was like some cheap tasting spread. When I complained I was told chef cuts everything up so finely it's like a paste.....Clearly the cheapest of ingredients are being used - supermarket bread, and some God awful paste filling. For £8 I was hoping for more. Especially when they charge such extortionate prices for the goods they sell in the shop - so ripping customers off in 2 ways. I was given a voucher to use on return, I would have preferred a refund as I doubt we'll go back. When relaying my experience to friends, most said they don't go anymore, except for a coffee in the summer to enjoy the view. Such a shame.

The farm shop cafe is situated in a beautiful setting and the little park and sand pit is such a plus - that I give 5 stars without a double. However, the food is a massive let down. I tried the Mexican Breakfast - it was awful. The bacon cremated, beans old and dry, the flat bread thing inedible and to top it off the guacamole had a curly little black hair in it. Serving food in this state is not okay. I’m not one to complain, but when things are this bad; something has to be said. My flat white was also cold and spilled into the saucer before it got to me. I think standards need to be looked at, because this place could be a wonderful.

After playing in the sandpit, our son went down the slide a couple of times. It’s such a lovely spot to come to with an amazing view. It’s a shame that there were so many wasps but that’s not Saddleback’s fault! I have visited this cafe on a few occasions without being either impressed or disappointed but today was different. I know there are the necessary precautions in place that make service a little more complicated following the Covid outbreak but I can't see why this should affect the quality of the coffee. My wife and I both ordered a cappuccino today and for the first time ever we agreed on something - it was terrible. There was no discernable coffee taste at all. What they served us is a mystery. We left both cups after just a few few sips.I am now retired after having spent 12 years in the coffee industry. I'm sorry Saddleback but you need to look at this problem quickly.

We have been coming here for years and always loved the delicious food and generous portions. Today we had a ploughman’s lunch at £10 each. The plate contained 2 very thin, small triangles of cheddar. One small, thin slice of ham (I needed to cut fat away). It stated a cauliflower chutney but we had a tiny pot of something similar to normal pickle. There was half a small, tasteless pork pie. I gave mine to OH. He said they were tasteless. No pickled onions. They seem to bulk the plate up with coleslaw as a cheap extra. There was a small salad (small blob of nice mustardy dressing). The slice of bread tasted fresh and nice. The restaurant was busy, lots of staff about but the tables were dirty. Ours wasn’t wiped at all. We used to look forward to our lunches and brekkies at Saddleback but we will not be returning. On top of this, we got home and cut into the Honesty seeded bread and it was hard and dry. Bring back Marcopolo bread. I cannot understand why they’ve changed something that was so good and always busy.

Previously we visited many times before Honesty group partnered with Saddleback. We visited as parents with 2 young children. To say the food is disappointing is an understatement. The sausage baps were so dry we had to soak them in sauce to eat them. As you can see from the picture the sausage seemed to be one sausage cut in quarters lengthways and cooked for far too long. There was nothing to it. I asked for a poached egg in one of the baps which came out as a fried egg. The hot chocolates seemed to be mostly hot water not milky and chocolatey. Our little boy had a waffle with fruit and yoghurt which was ok, but the chopped apple and pear on top with watery yoghurty wasn't good. The cost of the food and drink was £20.10 so not good value considering the quality. Finally, the sandpit that all the children play in has been emptied.

Appalling. We have been to Saddleback a few times before it was taken over. This particular time I was by myself with my dog. I approached a member of staff and asked how I ordered if dogs aren’t allowed inside. First response was ‘tie him to a bench’. When I explained he’s a rescue and won’t do well with this he went to ask his manager. Response then was that he’d come outside and wait with my dog while I order. I explained that he’d be upset and bark but that’s what will have to happen. I was waiting outside for 15 minutes before I got very fed up and left. There needs to be a better process for a fairly ordinary situation. Shocking. Won’t be returning.

We have always supported local small businesses and have been enjoying saddleback for many years both as a couple and then with our child. We were concerned when they announced a partnership with a chain locally that things would be very different, but we thought ok let’s give it a go. We arrived at 3.30 on a grey day to ok be greeted by more grey decor inside (previously a warm bright space) then while my husband and toddler found a table I went to the counter to ask for a kids menu as this was a treat so nice to as before give her an early tea while we had a cuppa. But NO! I was informed that no food (except cake) is served now after 3pm!!! WHAT!!! This was as many families feared so many local supportive mums visit tjj ok have a chat and feed the kids after school/nursery as we always felt welcomed and was a great treat for kids in a safe fun environment. Clearly our past custom and support means nothing over the now overpriced ‘townie fair’ and clearly too much money is being made to not need late afternoon customers! That’s all families written of visiting after 3pm!!! Just when families are together it’s madness.

Three of us visited on a Sunday lunchtime for the first time since reopening a few weeks ago and we were disappointed. The decor has changed during the renovation and there is a lot of dark grey on the walls which has taken away the old lighter colours and homely feel. I had the quiche for lunch which was served with leaves and extremely tasty and we had chosen to eat inside due to tiresome insects in the very hot weather ! However as soon as our food was served we were bombarded by wasps and although some people may not mind them we certainly did and despite swatting them away very frequently they were extremely persistent and did not leave us alone . I did notice the same goings on at other tables so suspect that there might be a wasps nest in the vicinity ! Hopefully this will be dealt with by our next visit as otherwise everything was lovely .

I live close by and use to drop in for lunch on a fairly regular basis but haven’t been in for about 6 months and sadly don’t think we will be going back for a while. Ordered lunch with one tea and one cold drink but struggled to find a clean glass drink from, looks like the dishwasher is leaving a dirty cloudy food film on the glasses. Found a table (not very busy) and staff member brought the tea and cutlery to the table (cutlery left in a heap at end of the table), no napkins left with cutlery and when we asked for some, we were told that they were on the counter but she would get some for us!! When we retrieved the cutlery I had to go back to the counter and as for some clean ones as again it seemed to have a grubby film on them, staff member apologised and promptly ran it under the water boiler tap and said she would bring some clean ones! think I got the same ones back just cleaned under the boiler tap and dried. Sadly looking around the tea room area some of the tables were obviously dirty, staff were slow to clear and clean tables that had been vacated, the tea room area had a feeling of being unkempt, uncared for and a bit grubby. Staff perfectly friendly, food was fine and shop as goods as it was but sadly cleanliness standards have dropped quite dramatically in the tea room.

From time to time we head out to the Saddleback Farm Shop for something different and out of town. It is in a very lovely setting and the service is good. Sometimes we go for a weekend lunch/brunch or just for a cuppa with friends.

Fabulous location and the perfect place to meet friends for a catch up - However our visit was spoilt by the miserable woman who served us - could just about acknowledge us at the counter, was so unhelpful

Had a ploughmans without Ham and was given LOADS of cheese, still quite dear, and a bit of a wait. But the staff were all very friendly, the place is clean and bright. It's a lovely little place that has become very busy. Worth braving the crowds.

This place is a great find for when you want something a little bit different for lunch, breakfast or afternoon tea. A farm shop cafe is nothing unusual but the beautiful view over the field and the quality of the food are!

Tucked away in the wilds, there is an excellent butchers, deli and super cafe. The food is very good, the staff friendly and the views across the open fields just splendid. You often see deer. Get there early if you want breakfast on Sunday, it is very popular. For petrol heads there is often the odd interesting car visiting there too. Morgan’s, Caterhams etc and it is popular with cyclists too. A play area for kids and ice creams for sale.

It was generally just ok. Ok menu, average to middling veggie options, prices on a par with the farm shops generally (ie not cheap, but not eye watering) and the indoor seating was all right, although could get very busy and noisy. Of the farmshops in the area, it's not one I'd be rushing back to.The smoothie was nice though!

Second Visit, just as worth as visit as the first, the lunch was great, the Pie was delightful and full of flavor, as for the Lemon Cake. we are now making this place a regular stop whenever we are within 30 Miles. It worth the extra drive.

I had been looking forward to trying Saddleback Farm Shop for a while, but sadly ended up disappointed by my experience. I visited with some friends on a Sunday lunchtime & it was incredibly busy when we arrived just after midday, with people finishing their breakfast orders. As soon as we walked in, I was hit by how loud, cramped & crowded it felt - definitely not the relaxing farm shop atmosphere I was hoping for! We ordered lunch & although our food arrived quickly & was presented nicely, I found it incredibly overpriced for what you get - £6 for a portion of beans on toast seems ridiculous! For that price, I was at least expecting some type of special ‘artisan’ homemade bread, but I was just served two slices of standard brown bread?!

Headed out to Saddleback on a whim and enjoyed a light lunch of a jacket potato with prawns. More than sufficient portion size with very generous quantity of prawns with Marie Rose sauce. Coffees were also excellent so all in all a first class experience.

My wife and I have regularly visited Saddleback Farm, for morning coffee, afternoon tea and the occasional lunch. Last Friday took my mother-in-law for afternoon tea, we saw some mouth watering cake on the counter and duly order a slice, when it arrive it was so thin you could nearly see through it! My wife and I discussed the cake and noticed that over the last few months the slices have been getting smaller.

Visited the Cafe recently for lunch. The food was bland and the green vegetables were under cooked. Onion gravy was really thin with 'large' pieces of onions in it. Pork and Apple burger was only just cooked inside and was tasteless. Quite expensive considering.

Rather than stop somewhere bland we dived off the A43 and went into the country side for lunch whilst en-route home to midlands. What a find and good gluten free options with wonderful farm shop. Support the real food places and get off the main roads. Connection back into A43was also simple.

Our first visit with our son and daughter in law and their two three year old twin sons. We had lunch there and the food and service was very good, quality and quantity in both measures. Always good to see a farm shop that actually sells the meat produced on the farm or at least from the locality. Small safe children's play area enough to keep them entertained while the parents can browse the produce. Would certainly recommend this shop, pity not closer to Basingstoke..

I visited here in two separate occasions, one with my sister-in-law and the daughter (age 13) this visit was primarily to do the pottery painting? I can thoroughly recommend this, brilliant activity if you’re into arts and craft. The second occasion was with my husband and my dog to visit the garden centre. This we find it to be a well equipped garden centre which is not overpriced. Some lovely ideas for gifts, outdoor clothing, garden furniture, plants and a pet shop. The Garden centre is dog friendly with a few areas around which does not allow dogs. There’s quite a lot to do at this location , especially if you have a YoungFamily, butterfly, soft play, petting zoo, pottery painting etcetera. There are two cafés at this location, one of them being dog friendly with a segregated area for dogs and the owners. The café is okay, not great. We ordered a sandwich, cheese scone and a pot of tea. The sandwich took 45 minutes to make, It was a nice sandwich although 45 minutes to wait for a sandwich was a bit of a joke. In summary: dog friendly garden centre, children activities, location easy to get to, free parking and a cafe. We will revisit.

Raw randimly chopped vegetables mixed with few cuts of beef. Thai food must be full of spices and fish sauce bit used rocks of salt sprinkled on eveeything even the rice! Nasty food, not even suitable for my dog. And restaurant has a foul stench smell of wet socks

The staff work very hard, we use it regularly. You must watch out for the varying length of stay around. We tend to park in the larger car park because we are often there over two hours.

Very friendly, helpful staff. They remember my usual order, and are cheerful. They told me this evening that Too Good to Go bags were advertised online, and I was able to pay and collect one. Very good surprise bag with a sandwich, a wrap and 2 cakes in for £3.50.
