Rye Bay Fish in Rother

So pleased to find this excellent fishmongers very close to where I was staying in Rye, so I bought fresh fish every day and then some more to take home. Superb quality, lovely friendly staff and great daily selection - whole plaice, sea bass, turbot steak, monkfish, scallops, salmon to name some of what I had, all delicious. My dog was even given a seafood stick as a treat! Just wish I lived closer although may try their delivery service.

I have been to this fresh fish shop many times. Great produce. Staff always helpful. The key is that the fish is always fresh.

I started out by being overcharged which fortunately I noticed, then nearly left without half my purchases I was disappointed that I had to struggle to remove a lot of very large bones in the cod loin, when I’d finished it looked quite a mess to be honest, I would have expected it to be better filleted, especially as it was pretty expensive!

Bought our fish and seafood there yesterday to make a smoked Paella top bloke Shane and his motley crew😂😂

After moving about 7 miles from Rye, I am excited to find a wonderful wet fish shop. I love their sea food mix which I love in a sandwich and also all the wet fish on offer they had fresh crab claws this week so my husband was in his element!! Staff are very knowledgeable and always polite and would recommend to anyone, even if your visiting for the day, make this a stop before returning home

I've bought fish here for about 10 years and it's always been excellent. Rye fish market has a similar name, and sometimes the reviews get mixed up. Rye bay fish does NOT sell the horrible lobster rolls that got poor reviews. These are from Rye Fish market.

Came in today to buy some cockles, prawn mayo pots and cod. Staff are always friendly and patient when we can't decide what we want! The fish is super fresh and such great quality. Highly recommended 👌

This is a wonderful. WET FISH SHOP, fantastically fresh fish, with much to choose from. The service was perfect polite and knowledgeable. Lovely family business. You can't miss this shop as its just over the bridge, opposite Skinners car showroom .

One of the best things about living in Kent, is crossing the border into East Sussex to visit Rye Bay Fish. The prawns are really fresh and make a great sandwich and the sea bass grilled with breadcrumbs is heaven. The frozen shrimp balls taste great with sweet and sour sauce. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful.

Always buy our fish here, never disappointed. Quality, variety and good humoured service…parking isceasy too.

Very friendly staff with a large range of freshly caught fish. We purchased a number of sea bass and red mullet. Staff offered to descale and gut the fish for us and they did a perfect job, as well as providing some ice in a bag for our journey home with the purchases. When next in the area, we will return and would have no hesitation in recommending.

We recently holidayed in Rye and visited Rye Bay Fish on a couple of occasions. We were super impressed with the range and quality of the fish and seafood and the friendliness of the staff. The lobster, crab and Dover sole were particularly memorable. We will definitely be ordering online. A great find.

If you buy your fish wrapped in plastic from the supermarket - have a rethink folks!This establishment is the real thing, a fishmonger dealing in fresh quality fish that you'll enjoy eating. We live locally and wouldn't dream of buying anything that swims from anywhere else, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble - and. you can park outside. Their Fish Pie mix is terrific, not just rubbish tailends, the proper deal. This seriously good fish emporium is what the old fashioned fishmonger used to be - and should be highly valued.

I started using Rye Bay Fish when I moved to the area and have been very pleased with the quality of the fish and the knowledgeable service. They are happy to advise on which fish to choose and how to cook it and have lots of special offers which save money. They always ask whether you want your fish filleted or prepared in any way and even prepare squid without complaining (which is not true of all fishmongers!). Over all I feel it is an extremely good shop and one that I go to regularly.

The fish I buy here is always of the highest quality. There is always a good selection and you can buy local seasonal fish at a really reasonable price. The staff are very helpful preparing the fish and offering advice without being patronising. My only regret is that there aren't more fish shops like this around.

The staff here are super friendly great banter there knowledge on how to cook fish is really helpful, bought fish and seafood here many times picked up large prawns, mussels, and cod today to make a Spicy Bouillabaisse which was delightful will always shop here

This establishment is top class, don't compare their fish with supermarket offerings, there is no comparison. We bought a large piece of Loch Duart Salmon here recently, it isn't cheap but it's fairly priced for the quality - it tasted absolutely delicious. If you're looking for fresh fish you've found it; making a fish pie? No problem, they sell good fish pie mix too. A big plus, you can park outside with no hassle from the gestapo. All this with no nonsense good service, and advice if you want it. Money well spent.

This is not a restaurant but a fish shop with an excellent selection of fresh fish, some of which is caught locally and some imported from other parts of the UK. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and happy to advise you on how to cook the fish when you return home. I recommend the halibut!

Record breaking August Bank Holiday expected so called in on the Friday before to check availability for Monday. They were happy to make sure what I wanted was kept for me in case of running out. 9:15 Monday morning there it was ready for me to collect. Looking forward to the Sea Bass and samphire tonight and a crab linguine tomorrow.Whether you live locally or you are visiting it's worth a visit the staff are really welcoming and happy to give advice if you are unsure. Then this is definitely the place to buy it fresh. We did two days running, enjoying great service and knowledgable advice which you won't get at a supermarket counter. Only shame was they "don't sell whole crab only dressed".

A great range of fish including locally caught fish on the day. We bough local plaice, lemon sole and mackerel - all very fresh and excellent quality / taste. They also do mail order delivery so may use this in the future. Would definitely go there for fish again when in Rye.

We were very Happy to return to this wonderful shop whilst we were in the area for three days. We went every day to buy our lunch/supper because it is so enticing! The fish is as fresh as you could possibly have and a great variety. A must when you are anywhere near Rye.

We travel a fair distance to get our fresh fish from this place. Excellent staff and the fish is straight of the boat. Compared to other local fishmongers the prices are roughly half and we will be going back in a few weeks to stock up again.

The staff at the busy were cheerful and very knowledgeable, they had a lovely choice of fish. Ours tasted great once home. If you are around the area it’s worth stopping off. They have a car park to make it easy to stop off.

We had heard about Rye Bay Fish and coming up to Rye by train we phoned ahead to check what was available.

Popped in here as we have bought smoked fish from the fish shacks at aldeburgh. So surprised 3 small fillets of hot salmon and I dressed crab cake to £19-86

try to stop whenever in Rye so around 6-8 times a year. great selection, friendly staff and a good mix of fresh and frozen to take home. obviously local scallops a must. limited parking a great help for Rye, and good access when passing through. with prices where they are it has become a bit of a luxury, but need to support fishermen or prices will only go one way or quality the other.

We've been buying fish here since we move into the area 3 years ago...important to compare apples with apples so to speak, supermarket packed fish this is not! I was captivated originally by their signage which reads ' Fish caught by our own boat' - that's one smart boat! The range and quality of their fish is excellent, they carry frozen packs of prawns and squid which is always handy to have in your freezer. As for those who moan that this place is expensive, comparisons with cheap mass produced farmed fish are unfair. As always, you get what you pay for, and here you get quality fish.

We always stop here to buy fresh fish and shellfish on our way home after playing golf and we always forget to bring our freezer bag with us! No problem ... the staff are so friendly and helpful and they send us on our way with the scallops, Dover sole and dressed crab beautifully packed in ice. We have just discovered their superb smoked salmon so we will be ordering some for Christmas.

I don't know why they gave this shop a good review. It's pretty unrealistic to be honest. Extremely overpriced and not even fresh looking seafoods. I'd rather go to billingsgate market where there's a good value for money. And hey, Morrisons has got loads of fresh and cheaper seafoods. Their dressed crab, tiger prawns and seabass is a lot cheaper than this overrated Ray Bay Fish shop!

We stayed for 10 days in Camber Sands for holiday and planned almost daily a trip to Rye Bay Fish in order to get superb (shell) fish. Scallops, Shrimps, Lemon Sole, Crab legs were our favourite and the products were super fresh. Very friendly staff and decent pricing. We will miss this shop.

Popped in to see if they had any whole fresh Crab.I was told there was no call for it.But they did sell dressed crab wrapped in cling film that was clearly bought in.The fresh fish that was for sale looked great and very well presented.Overall a nice clean and convinient fishmongers

This is primarily a shop that sells very fine, fresh fish and shellfish. You can also buy prawns and cockles to take-away. A very friendly family owned business which takes great care to serve its loyal clientele.

This fishmonger does a good selection of fish including many that are locally caught. Unfortunately, they didnt have any crabs which is why we visited. We will visit again and may try their beetroot gradvalax nect time.

Never do we drive down from home in Bromley to Camber for a bracing walk with our dog without a cool box in the back of the car to bring back some of the freshest fish available anywhere. The plaice and seabass purchased yesterday were wonderful and we are happily anticipating our kipper breakfast! The only problems buying from this fishmonger are a) choosing what you want from the amazing range of both familiar and less well known fish and b) remembering how much room you have in the freezer! A visit is a must for fish and seafood lovers everywhere.

We were on holiday in Camber and had been told how lovely this place was. So we went for a visit they have a lovely selection of sea food ready to eat and too cook, we had a feast there and then lots for tea prices where good staff lovely and it was all fresh and clean would visit again!

Wow! This is without a doubt the best , fresh and I mean fresh fish you will ever buy!! We as a family are fortunate to have this wonderful establishment a 20 min drive away from our home, even now with the road I take being closed, I am more than happy to add another 15 mins to my journey because no other fishmonger sells fish of this outstanding quality. . The staff are fabulous , friendly and so knowledgeable , if you need any advise on how to cook your fish , they know it all , plus 2 of the best uncomplicated recipes I use regularly were given to me by one off the staff!
