Very slow and inattentive service, especially when place was nearly empty. Food good nothing out of the ordinary but also add a 15% service charge which is ridiculous considering the service we were given.

Crazy place to go! Not worth visiting for many reasons!! Run by kids! Unfriendly manager! No wonder not many people where there when we were there..

My wife and I visited the rum kitchen in Brighton with our 5 year old daughter. We were really looking forward to it as we love Caribbean food. Booking was for 6pm on a Friday. We got there and there was only 2 other tables with customers. We were sat down....15 mins passed with nobody coming to take any order so I went to the bar , they then came over to us. ANOTHER 20 mins passed with no drinks.. it was only 1 beer and 1 cocktail . Had to go and ask . I mean , I might semi understand if the place was rammed, but it was dead!!! Drinks eventually arrived. Interestingly , the RK NO1 pilsner I ordered claimed to be 5.2% on the menu, can said 4.6%. Tad difference there !!!!! I pointed this out. Food came. My wife asked for some jerk sauce in a pot, but we were told this would cost extra !!! Given our service thus far I was a little taken back by that. Then I tucked into my RK jerk bowl. Which turned out to be a mound of rice & peas with TWO chicken thighs...2. Small at that. My wife ordered a chicken burger thing , however the chicken was pretty much burnt to a crisp . Couldn't eat it. All in all, pretty appalling place. Dread to think what it's like when it's busy. Avoid at all cost!!!!!

Good value for Brighton, large portions, attentive service, central location. Had to pre-order being a large party.

Staff was unfriendly and messed up our food order. Except the main waiter guy who was very polite and looked after us when we arrived. Food was delayed by 50mins-1 hour, and food orders were totally messed up! People at our table who arrived 15 mins ago, got their food delivered to the table, while we arrived 1 hour before that, and got our food last at the table! Food was tasteless, had no spice on the roast chicken. Our pre-paid deposit was not deducted from our bill, as promised and we had to chase it for 1 week every day after we left the restaurant, when eventually they returned it. Ordered a mocktail, but it came out with alcohol. They told me that I would get 2for1 as per their 'sale' before I ordered my drink, but after it came out, was only 1 drink and they said it's not included in the sale. The music was so loud that we could not hear the people sitting across from us at the same table, which was really disappointing. We had pre-paid a deposit of £20 which they said would be deducted from our bill. The waitress at the till has claimed it's been deducted already from our bill. It wasn't! They asked us to make full payment and kept our "refundable" deposit on top! Told us they will arrange with their Head Office to process a refund back to us. We have chased them for 1 week after we left calling nearly every day, being told different things all the time, the money did not come still! In our frustration we threatened to contact their Head Office for their lack of assistance, which resulted in getting the refund within 24 hours! I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail, came with alcohol. They replaced it, thankfully.

Food is amazing, but the portions are miserable. Please be more generous!

Best goat curry in brighton. Seriously, don't believe the reviews, I've followed this guy from Preston circus to Edward street and now to here!

Friday evening meal inside this great little restaurant at the heart of Brighton's historic lanes. The food was spot on, good service however the furniture is looking a little tired (stained fabric on seating) and the pricing a little on the expensive side.

Found this gem last year just as it opened up, so it was first on my list when I came back this year however the bar that was is now a Mexican restaurant so you can’t get a look in for some nice afternoon drinks with a sea view - I did manage to get a table at the bar but the cocktail menu was slim and the presentation wasn’t what I experienced when I first discovered this place! Totally gutted but understand the business opportunity and the food did look amazing still worth a visit
