A lovely place with really friendly staff but the food was pretty poor. We had a couple of mixed grills. The chicken was dry and overcooked and I could barely cut through the steak. I was just too tough to eat. Such a shame as the decor and staff are great but the food was a huge let down.

came in this weekend for a few drinks and food with some friends the staff were very friendly such as amy bella and ashley. we ordered a pizza as they had the pizza and a drink meal on the monday and it was made by beth and tasted amazing! 100% recommend

Really impressed with the most recent changes at the Bridge. The atmosphere and service on our last trip was fantastic. Food and drinks were lovely. Our waitress Bella couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. She was super friendly, professional and went above and beyond to make sure our visit was enjoyable. Thoroughly enjoyed the pub quiz too!

Visited on Saturday and was welcomed by Amy the manager with a cheery smile and pleasantries. Our server Bella was most helpful, I fancied something different to my usual tipple but was unsure of what to choose. Bella recommend a few drinks based on my tastes, one of which was really refreshing. She also managed to persuade my partner to try Moretti instead of his usual carling. The pub has a great atmosphere and the ladies friendliness was a lovely bonus. Will definitely be calling again.

We called in for lunch on 25th Jan. The decor is stylish and the chairs are really comfortable. The young lady who took our order and brought our meals to our table was welcoming, polite and friendly. I chose the Steak & Ale Pie (£12.50) and was persuaded by my wife to double my chips for an extra £1.79. I was really looking forward to my meal, especially with double chips! My wife went to the bar to order Chicken Tikka Masala for herself and my pie & chips. When our food arrived we looked at each other as the pie was definitely on the small side and the double portion of chips looked like a single portion. Is this "shrink-flation" the norm? Debra asked if they had doubled the chips for me, and apparently, they had. Although it tasted nice, I was quite disappointed in the size of the pie, the minimal amount of steak it contained, and the supposedly double helping of chips. I'm sorry to say that it certainly wasn't worth £14.29. I tried a forkful of the chicken tikka masala and it was lovely - (I would order it for myself). What a shame that my meal spoilt the occasion for us. Do we call again, or do we try somewhere else?

Lovely atmosphere and great food. Big shout out to Beth for cooking the food and Lauren who served us. Plenty of choice on the menu and a well kept pint!

Becoming my regular pub now....a cracking pint and the staff are a credit to the manager Cameron....they attentive....they genuinely care about your stay and welcome you from when you arrive till the moment you leave ....big shout out to ash and amy.....and of course the manager Cameron....we always look forward to our next visit.....highly recommend 10 out of 10

Second time here can not fault the food! The staff were utterly fantastic! Must give a special mention to Shelly who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we had all with a smile on her face! Will definitely be coming back for the staff alone

Had a wonderful festive meal! The food was absolute delicious, very generous portion sizes and service was very fast. Lovely atmosphere! Would definitely come back again and highly recommend.

I feel I have to leave a review, due to the wonderful staff at The Bridge Inn. On Tuesday 14th of November, I hosted a Friendship Lunch on behalf of Home Instead Wakefield. Unexpectedly, 62 people attended! Shortly after the start of the lunch, one of the chefs had to leave, as she had been informed that her father had had a stroke. Straight away, Amy, Shelley, Cameron and the rest of the team jumped into action, despite the situation being upsetting to them also. They worked tirelessly to make sure all 62 people were fed. Amy even burned her hand!! The food was excellent, and even though they received one or two unpleasant comments about the slight delay in food arriving, they were very professional, and made sure the lunch went well. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at The Bridge Inn, and it is always a pleasure to host our lunches here. Thank you all!!

Great spot en route to town on a weekend. We come down to watch sport on a Saturday and Sunday before heading into town, its really well set out and the food has always been spot on.

Go hear about once a month for lunch & as always been very nice & friendly. However our last visit was disappointing due to the fact they have stopped doing Jacket potato’s & sandwiches. Therefore only a small choice on the lunch time menu . We did like having the club sandwich & the pulled pork Jacket potato. Don’t know if this is a temporary thing for the time of year. Please bring back the sandwiches & Jacket potato’s .

looked online at the lunch menu so 5 of us chose to go to here for the lunch menu, upon arrival we noticed on the menu that there was no lunch time meals (sandwiches and jacket potatoes) we asked the staff and where told, that they do lunch menu that was fish and chips and gammon and chips type of meal so nothing small and was told that was all they offered. upon scanning the QR code this also let you add sandwiches and jacket potatoes to your basket but we where still told they can't do it as it is now the Christmas menu IN OCTOBER AND BEFORE HALLOWEEN is ridiculous, this was the first time qe have been since it reopened and I can say all 5 of us will not go back due to them not honouring the menu stated online or on there QR code. really not impressed with this at all. very disappointed

Wonderful food at a reasonable price, the place was very welcoming and spotless. The service was very friendly and attentive, particularly from a South African waitress Simone. She checked a few times that we were happy without being overbearing. We will definitely come again in the future

Lovely large pub, lots of different areas so those wanting to watch the game don’t dominate the atmosphere in the pub. Great outdoor eating area right next to the river, and a super little play area for children. Also good selection of children’s books to read and look at while waiting for food, great idea, why don’t more places do this?! Food was decent, good selection of ales on tap. Very family friendly.

Last night we had the curry deal which we both enjoyed. I had the veggie curry which came without naan. We asked the server and she said it was because it was the vegan curry, but said she could get me one, which she did. Great customer service. My only gripe is how dirty the pub has become, thick dust on the shelves, cobwebs on the lights, the paintwork, toilet paper all over the floor in the ladies. Such a shame as the staff and food on this visit were fab. Please could the management have a good look around and retrain their cleaners. We will go back, but if it is still as dirty we may not bother again. Sorry, but the cleaning is letting down the whole package.

Used to be great but since revamp best avoided. The other reviews cover the exceptionally long waits & unavailable items. All I can add is that customer service & professionalism is non existent, will not be returning, give it a miss!

I don't know where to start, it was a let down from the beginning. But let's start with the McDonald's delivery for the Chef, it sort of raises questions when the person who microwaves the food up doesn't eat what's on offer at their work....

Upon being greeted by the most miserable people on the planet, we had our menus thrown on the table. We tried to order food several times, but none of the staff were interested. However, the manager suddenly became interested when we got up and left, running after us for the drinks bill. We informed her we'd left the money on the table (as the staff didn't seem interested in payment) . Not only will we not be going back, I'm also going to inform everyone who asks that the place is rubbish. Avoid. Go to McDonald's instead. At least you can actually get served there and the 15 year olds who work there are polite.

Where do we start? The not so friendly welcome? I got asked to stand in passage to fill in details rather than one step further. Hygiene of the place? Toilets dirty and water leaking in the floor. Staff majority not wearing masks correctly. Asked for a menu at 7.30 - told no they had stopped serving food? No notice of this and then we was asked to leave at 9.30 as closing. Poor service especially the manager

We attended as a special treat today and really regret it. The table ordering app was not working so a handful of staff were running from table to table. Food was ordered and we specifically asked that everything come at the same time. Over an hour later, the starters came - thankfully as I am diabetic and was beginning to feel faint. It was then another half hour before we were asked if we wanted our mains! Nearly two hours to wait for a meal is simply not good service, and despite complaining all we were told was that they were busy - no compensation offered. Drinks were even worse. Our son ordered a lager and when he complained 40 minutes later he was told it would be another 2 minutes. 10 minutes and another complaint later he was told that they had lost his order and would bring his drink for free. The main courses then arrived. The chips were nice but everything else was poor. A warm ciabatta and steak with melted cheese was actually a cold ciabatta with cool steak and a bit of grated Cheddar. Not sure what was masquerading as chilli on the burger but it wasn’t very nice and the burgers were again luke warm. All around us people were complaining at delays and missed orders. Thank goodness it was sunny! We will certainly not be going again, and would recommend that you save your money and go somewhere else.

I feel sorry for customers being treated like they did something wrong everytime they move, from walking into and choose the wrong table and been told she had to move someone else from sitting On this one, to the very last moment when you paid for poor soaky oily food and wanna leave just to be told where you thing you are going. The lady who is on in charge position, is terrible for both, customers and waitress same Way. Cannot recomend at all.?

Well I'll start with staff are very good , but I really can't recommend the food , ok it was just a pizza , but an £11 pizza . Quite frankly a total rip off , I've had better and substantially bigger for less than half the price . There's no excuse for the size and quality of what is offered for the price charged. I will not eat there again.

So went here 18th may 2021 and this is one of our locals. Before lockdown we stopped going here because the food was horrible and the staff well they were terrible too. Roll on nearlyb2 years since we have been here and jesus even though new management has taken over this pub is a joke. We went in for a few drinks and maybe a meal to celebrate our daughters belated 18th birthday celebration. When we got there we were curtly told to sign in on track and trace and then was seated quite quickly. We waited about 10 mins for someone to come and take our first drinks order (there was about 8 people in the bar at that point inc outside) qe got the drinks after the staff member asking 3 times what the order was she then asked us if we wanted food like it was a requirement so we ordered some starters. Waited a little bit for them but not too bad a wait . Then after our starters been consumed and our glasses empty we had to try and attract the attention of a waitress which we finally did, she took our second order and disappeared. 15 mins later we had to flag down the manager and he ignored my husband the first time so my husband had to raise his voice a bit and the rude manager dismissed him and said he would be there when he had finished what he was doing !!!!! He came back and we told him we had been waiting 20 mins for our drinks and a pudding mybfaughter had ordered only to find out that the lady that had taken the order NEVER submitted it. He tool it again and got polly I think she was called behind the bar to sort it out. 15 mins after that my daughters pudding came out thanks to polly!!!!! She apologised for the delay and said she would take the puddingnoff the bill. I went up to her and asked her if she was the manager and she said no sorry but she really should have been because she was the only one that gave a crap when all the people kept coming in complaining of late drinks and food (there was there was lot) she thanked me and told me she really appreciated it as she was soo stressed out ( you could tell poor thing) so then the owner came down we asked for the bill and she asked if all was OK and told her straight no it wasn't and she knocked 20% off our bill doesn't matter though cos we will never go back we thought new management meant maybe better everything but same as it always was a huge disappointment. Polly need a raise and a promotion because she was amazing . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME THEY HAD 3 STAFF ON AND IT WAS NOT WVEN PEAK HOURS.

Booked a table as expecting to be busy it wasn’t, there were a few tables taken we were told to sit anywhere with reserved sign which we did we were sat there quite a while until we asked the lady if we could order taking in we had no menus she asked us if we were ready to order I asked for menus she then took drink orders and I must say the drinks took as long to arrive also asked us to pay for them which I understand there was then a wait for our meals we had then finished our drinks but we kept getting missed when she was taking orders we had actually finished before she ordered our drinks food was ok service was poor really wonder how they will cope if it gets busy .....

Similar experience to other reviews lately. First time visiting since restrictions lifted at what technically is our local as we only live over the water. Instructions on arriving unclear, sign on door saying please wait to be seated but another saying just take a seat.... conflicting Information for the customer! Another patron had to tell us what to do as no staff greeting!Placed order on the app but took a good 20 minutes to arrive. Wasn’t particular busy and all other tables had full drinks.One waitress stood chatting to a table she clearly knew for at least 10 minutes before going off and getting their drinks order which arrived at the same time as ours despite us being in the pub before them. The place could be great being by the canal but the service and choice of drinks just lets the place down.Going to the pub should be an enjoyable experience but this just wasn’t.

Firstly, I want to say that all of the staff were very friendly and that I appreciate that it was the first day back...but the service was beyond awful at a time when it wasn't particularly busy. Did our first order on the app/website and waited roughly 20 minutes before having to call someone over to sort the order out. And on our second order we waited over 30 minutes before giving up and leaving. A real shame as we had booked a table weeks in advance and were really looking forward to the evening and going to our local. But going forward we will never go again and won't recommend it to anyone else. There are many, many better options in Wakefield.

Poor service from beginning to end. On arrival greeted by waitress told to do track and trace, then was told find a table then order at the bar! And was given the menu. On the table there were signs for ordering at the table which we wanted to do but this didn’t work. Ordered the ranch chicken, when it came the sauce was Luke warm and there was no cheese on it, coleslaw looked like it had been sat under a hot plate. I sent this back but when it came back it was the same. Members of staff sat down near the bar chatting. Then one shouted we are closing at 9.45. No one wondered the pub was very empty poor service and no atmosphere at all.

Stopped off on our boat for food and drink. They were so well organised and professional especially with covid. Food was excellent service fast friendly and efficient. I will definitely be calling next time we pass and would 100 percent recommend this place. Thanks for looking after us.

Called here in the off chance of food using the current eat out scheme, plenty of covid measures in place coupled with plenty of space, clearly it appears there is a limited menu in place as have other food outlets,but it was limited and very much of the same in different forms, with different names with bits added or removed. We ordered to different meals ,one being ok but not great, the second to be honest was very poor, comprising of burnt and over done chips, coupled with two completely cremated pieces of meat listed as burgers, added was tiny bits of pork which either one or the other must have had a pack of salt in or on them, had to leave it in the end and after over two hours later I can still taste the salt. Obviously like thousands of other people we are taking advantage of the 50% scheme but today’s visit was very poor for us, this was our first and last visit here at 50% cost was not value for money let alone full price !!

Lovely fresh food but the service let's this place down immensely. Not informed on our arrival about the measures that we are required you take, other customers not sticking to queuing rules at the bar, 45 minute wait between starter and main course, run out of vinegar and another l9ng wait between main and dessert.

Poor to say the least! COVID-19 restrictions that staff arnt even following! Got some random kid coming to our table climbing on chairs and taking away ours glasses! Children running about all over place Staff not following the one way system one member of staff who brought our food might has well of chucked it at us and didn’t say a word just put food down and walked away! Yes maybe they were busy but customer service is key! Also ordered three of the same starter all came different one of us been given cutlery with food stuck to it make me think of it’s really been cleaned properly. On the plus side some staff were very welcoming and made the dining experience a little more enjoyable

Went for the the 1st new government incentive 50% off. Well I suppose you get what you pay for. Limited menu choice of around 12 choices and to add to that the manager took the pizza off the menu as I made my way for the paper disposable menu, stating they couldn't keep up with the demand!then the steak in ale pie was not available either . On the covid front it was quiet ( no idea how they would have coped if it had been busy)and well spaced out with 1 way system so felt safe. Waited half hour for meal that was very average. One of desserts was off the menu too. Won't be back again any time soon. Shame as its close by to us. I think more staff are required and if you have a limited menu at least make sure you have enough to satisfy a averagely busy evening. I am putting it down to them just testing the waters on how this offer is going to pan out going forward.

1st time visit for breakfast.. the pub is set out well .. clearly mark one way system .. hand sanitizer on entry government guidelines been followed really well .. staff were lovely very welcoming and extremely helpful .. food was good ..after I finished eating I sat next to the canal with my cuppa watching the swans in the sun ..enjoyable visit definitely recommend x

Went for lunch today. First visit as a regular here since lockdown and wow how things have changed. We were not welcomed back, but just told to sanitise hands (which was welcomed) but there certainly wasn't a hello. The refil soft drinks were no more. The lunch time cheap menu was replaced with full priced same old same old grub. There are no deals what so ever. This pub is certainly cashing in now they are back open. Well they won't be cashing in from this regular customer as I am taking my business to a better class pub, where you are made to feel welcome and where the food is same price but much better quality. Sad really as i used to like coming here.

I came to the Ruddy Duck in Wakefield today as part of a business trip out. From the moment I walked in I was “greeted” by John (the assistant manager) who made sure that me and my colleague felt uncomfortable from the get go. This man wouldn’t know customer service had it been cemented and thrown at his face. The argumentative; degrading way he spoke to our party made everyone feel unwelcome. He had no time for anyone and constantly spoke down to us when we were ordering food/drinks. I refrained from ordering drinks for myself because I didn’t want any more encounters with him than I had to. I run a customer service desk and if ANY of my staff spoke to customers the way he spoke to us they’d be fired on the spot. There’s no way I will be returning to this pub through fear of having to see this man again. He is an absolute disgrace to the hospitality industry and will no doubt continue to drive custom away with his arrogance and belittling attitude. Holly was great.

A group of 8 of us visited on Sunday evening for tea. I was the third person to arrive and after saying hello to my two colleagues I went to the bar to get a drink. I was ignored by two members of staff and eventually served after around 5 minutes, bearing in mind there was very few people in the pub, even less at the bar! We all ordered food eventually after being told several things were unavailable including the Sunday dinners! One colleague order a burger with fried onions only to be informed there was no fried onions left. This begs the question how are the onions prepared? A single fresh onion would have been more than adequate, do they buy in fried onions?! Three of our group ordered burgers and quite frankly there would have been less chance of them breaking their teeth had they been and chewed on the wooden structure in the smoking area! Personally my food was ok I ordered calzone which has definitely been cooked fresh. The man behind the bar (who is called John we were told, the assistant manager) was very rude on several occasions to a few members of our group. When we first arrived and asked for a table for 8 he grumbled and groaned and said he would see if he could fit us in. Now if it wasn’t for the effort of taking off my tights, I could have counted on my fingers and toes how many people were actually in the pub at the time! He was reluctant to even make eye contact whilst we ordered food at the bar, surely that along with a simple hello is the basic standard of customer services - now I know I am not the prettiest of girls, but I’m not that bad that you cannot lift your chin from your chest and smile! We work in retail and fully understand the impact and importance of customer service and in this situation the impact is that we will not be returning. One member of our group was so upset by his attitude that he wouldn’t even go back to the bar to order his own drinks! The only upside to our visit was Holly the young girl that served at our table was lovely, very friendly and couldn’t do enough.

The man on the bar was very curt, verging on rude because he was busy. The two waiters on the other hand were polite and pleasant. Food was nice, but had to wait ages for our hot drinks as the man on the bar ‘forgot’ them.

On Mondays ad Tuesdays the pub has an offer where kids eat for a pound. The offer says ‘max 2 children may eat for £1 each when accompanied by a full paying adult’.We thought this meant that 2 children may eat for £1 when accompanied by a (singular) full paying adult. The waitress in the pub also agreed that we were right to think this. She told us that we were right but because the ‘offer is worded wrongly on the menu’ they ‘had’ to refuse to carry it out. No apology, no offer of anything to compensate just ‘we know you are right but head office won’t allow it’. The waitress then wouldn’t serve me at the bar and the manager had to come and serve me instead.Appalling and embarrassing. I didn’t know customer service could still be this bad.

Came this afternoon for lunch with my 1 year old son. Ordered a chicken tikka masala and a sausage, mash and peas. It was lovely, staff were friendly and wasnt too expensive. Definitely recommend! Worth the money. I will be returning very soon

Thank you so much for a beautiful salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly for a frozen chicken breast, unfortunately being not a fresh one is out of your control.

Four of us ate here, I am gluten free and they had a good menu, my food was lovely. Everyone else enjoyed their food, staff very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Been open a couple of years now and sadly no better than our first visit when it opened. Only 2 craft beers to choose when they have 6 hand pumps..ordered a cod dish which promise garlic and herb baby potatoes and tender stalk broccoli..with carrots. Carrots were rubbery broccoli was tough and stringy and potatoes were plain boiled. Wife had ranch chicken which came with 2 onion rings and chips which were over cooked and a tiny portion of coleslaw. The chicken was dry.. when I spoke to the waitress and described the veg. I was told that is how it all comes. Very poor food and will not be returning again. The best part was the 1 pint of beer an ice cream and the 2 coffees..unfortunately they didn't serve the advertised flat white I wanted.

Went for lunch with my partner and in laws , called in for lunch very nice fish and chips , was clean and tidy mostly quiet only thing was a family with young kids running riot then sat on noisy electronic devices ( pretend it's the 90,s and talk to your kids would be much nicer) the food was hot quick and tasty and soft drinks were unlimited.

Such a shame, this place has so much potential but last night it was shocking. Pre booked with our food order, but still took over a hour for the food to arrive. They didnt have enough places set for our group! The food was really disappointing and being a large party it showed when people left half of their meal. There was also a DJ, now this wouldnt have been an issue however he was situation where we were eating, it was also far too loud and when asked to turn it down, he turned it up! We couldn't hear each other as the speaker was right next to the table. He had no consideration for his audience, talking about us getting drunk, we has kids with us! It was karoke too, but again why have this where you are eating and not in the bar area! It's not like we are going to get up and sing whilst eating.

Just okay visit. We were early and hungry so tried it out. Not our usual standard of pub food but it filled the void. Won't rush back but would give it another go.

This used to be my favourite place to get pub food but it’s turned very bad. Burnt a burger? Small portions and very poor quality.
