This is a fabulous little store, supporting locals and holiday makers alike. Really well stocked! Fresh and tasty food. I didn’t even see the fabulous veg shed until we left. Great! And well worth shopping local as a holiday maker to ensure the shop is there for locals all year. Such a nice walk to find it too. We’re heading back for coffee and breakfast in the morning.

Spent a week in Ruan Minor and frequented the Post Office & Store Cafe several times. The staff and owner were always very friendly and polite and made us welcome each time. We even had a superb breakfast there this morning which set us up for the day. As a retired Public Health Practitioner I found the place clean and hygienic and would be happy recommending this shop and food premesis. One can only speak as you find.

The older lady who works in this shop needs to be taught some good manners on how to speak to her customers. We are visitors to Ruan Minor which is a lovely village, sadly let down by the rudeness of the lady who works in the local post office/shop. It is obvious that visitors are not welcome, as I can’t believe that local people would accept be spoken to as she speaks to visitors. We visit the Lizard part of Cornwall regularly but will never give this shop a penny of our money or step inside the shop again. Dreadful lady.

I'll not go into detail as other reviews on here sum it up. But the person running this shop needs to find a new career as customers are clearly nothing more than an irritation and something to take out her anger on. Have never met a more rude shop keeper. Such a shame as this is a lovely little village and the local village shop could be a source of provisions, advice and a welcome to visitors. We'll not ever be back unless it changes ownership.

This review will no doubt be responded to by the owner in the same way other negative reviews have been responded to - defensively and blaming the customers. Believe me - SHE is in the wrong and the terrible reviews are accurate. The shop is a mess. I'm genuinely not surprised someone in here had an accident. Credit for being Covid aware (some would say overly aware, but it's up to a shop owner what precautions they would like to take). But the Covid measures are a bit of a joke when stock is all over the place and hygiene standards aren't adhered to (the shop is dirty and smells a bit funny). Ignoring that as we needed a few urgent supplies, we bought a few provisions including snacks and drinks. There are tables right outside the front of the shop, and as we'd bought from the shop we assumed they were for customer use and sat at one to quickly eat the snacks. The owner came tearing out of the shop (literally) and shouted at us to move away. "These tables are for the cafe, you will need to move away!". No one else was sat at any of them. If the 'cafe' was open you wouldn't have known. There were no signs saying that was the case with the tables. If we were mistaken, a polite 'I'm really sorry but these are for cafe customers only' in a gentle, friendly tone would have done the job. But no, she chooses to be INCREDIBLY rude and surly to newcomers to the area (it was our first day here) who genuinely didn't realise. We're here for two weeks. She won't be getting a penny more from us. And that very evening I had a terrible stomach and the poorly-stored quiche I bought from there was the only thing I'd eaten. Make of that what you will.

I'm totally shocked by how I was treated in the ruan minor shop never ever have I been spoken to by a person like she did to me.I am local but due to my disabilities etc I have never walked that way and have delivery's etc I went in with my exempt lanyard. got shouted at with "got a card?" I looked at the very young lady behind counter and said is she talking to me (as I thought she was talking to the person she was serving). next shouted "do you have NHS card?" I said no. I do but I have no reason to tell her if I did or didn't none of her business. Then shouted "where do you come from" ? I told her. "What do you want?" I said some meat not wanting to run of a list to her as ill buy what ever I wish. Then pointed "meats that way". I walked that way and thought this place is so rude why on earth would I spend my money here and never will. As I walked out I said I shall buy my meat at my usual farm shop and walked out. Friends of mine have all said she is nasty and rude and don't go in there, well there's no surprise. One day she will be disabled and I pray she gets treated the same way she treated me.I will also no longer support the church of any fundraising local to this area. Nasty and will remove myself from this group.

We've enjoyed many holidays in Cornwall over recent years staying near the Lizard . We especially love the coastal walk to Cadgwith via Poltesco. A few years ago we noticed that the post office in Ruan Minor had new owners who had refurbished the shop and incorporated a little cafe. It became a little treat to have a coffee mid -way through our walk served by very friendly staff. After such a terrible year we were able to travel to Cornwall in Sept and embarked on our usual walk. With Covid restrictions , I didn't expect the cafe to be open but called in for a newspaper & a loaf of bread. whilst paying I asked the lady if the cafe was open. She looked at me with horror & said "we only serve take away but you must take it away , right away & DO NOT sit on the bench outside" She virtually shooed me out of the shop. Her attitude was appalling . A few days later I called in the shop again to buy a condolence card for a neighbour as his father had died suddenly. Imagine my surprise to see a some women sat INSIDE the cafe being served coffee. I waited at the counter with my condolence card whilst the lady finished serving the women who were obviously locals! All the time the women & the lady were slagging off tourists which made me feel very uncomfortable. Basically the locals don't want tourists but are happy to take our money !! I understand that this year Covid 19 has made things difficult for everybody but what people need to realise is that we're in this together.

Do you enjoy poor service, rude remarks and shop assistants who stare at you like you’re covered in faeces? If so then make sure you stop by Ruan Minor post office/cafe at some point. Whilst there why not grab a bottle of wine on offer? Oh no wait, the offer expired months ago and the labels haven’t been changed. Looking to start baking? Why not pick up some of there beautiful flour. They make it special by ripping open sealed bags and portioning them out into sandwich bags at a more expensive rate. If you think this is an odd thing to do during a pandemic then I can tell you you’re right. The woman who work there might seem scary but don’t worry, they won’t ever actually hit you. The best part about my visit to the store was when the door shut and I was back outside, free from glares or whispers. Visit at your peril.

I have been a frequent visitor to the area for a out 20 years.Delighted to discover that when the post office changed hands, the new owners have vastly improved the facilities. The Latte Coffee is excellent. The cakes very tempting. The ability to collapse in one of the Armchairs and chill is great.

We were lucky enough to come upon this little gem when we were hungry and needed a toilet. The latter was about fifty yards down a little lane and were public but were beautifully kept while the olives and bread and pasties we were served were really tasty. It was fun to watch the customers coming in and out of the shop and we ended up buying some goods for ourselves as we were sel-catering near Wendron.

Claire Bollard has revitalised and improved beyond wonder the drab old post-office Sp*r shop in Ruan Minor. Gone are the stripe-painted windows and gloomy strip lights; instead, the easy-to peruse shoppers' shelving shares an intriguing interior with a bijou cafe complete with armchairs and books by local authors; hot pasties, gluten-free cookies and, excellent espresso, popular with locals (I am a local) and visitors alike, open 8am-7pm mon-sat, Sunday 9-4 Highly recommended.

Passing through and asked if they do lunch in the cosy, quaint cafe. They do sandwiches, hot pasties or ‘I could do you fish stew with crusty bread’. We opted for the chicken curry and crusty bread which was delicious. A real community hub with a cosy cafe fitted out with ‘reloved’ furniture, a Cornish food section, general. stores and post office. Really helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Went in early morning to grab some milk and bread, lady at the till with long brown hair was very friendly, so decided to come back down later the same day and get an ice cream for the family and the nice lady wasn't at the till, but another lady with short hair who was awfully rude and not friendly at all. Ignored us when we came in, didn't crack a smile and didn't even have manners. Not what you want from a lovely little village shop! Not worth the awkwardness.

This is a perfect Village Store, Cafe and Post Office in the heart of Ruan Minor. Fantastic local produce including bread, pastries, pasties, fruit, vegetables, plants, dairy produce, deli products and even salad leaves from the Lizard. There is a great cafe and being able to get proper barista coffee to enjoy with a gorgeous cake or to take away is pretty amazing in such a small village. The store has been refitted and is very stylish and cosy and seems to sell everything locals or visitors could possibly want. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the owner has transformed the shop since she took over in September 2013.

We popped in for a coffee and a snack from the range of very reasonably priced 'light bites' on offer. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the new layout make it a comfortable place to stop awhile and read the paper. Ruan has long needed this facility and it should do very well. If you are staying in the Cadgwith / Lizard area we can recommend it as a pleasant pit stop.

Very expensive for what it is!! Dry baguette with ham (tasty ham) and cheese, a bit of salad and coleslaw (not very fresh) and a flat white came to £13.70!!! So stunned at the price I just paid it. I live in Truro and certainly won't be going again!
