Royal Tiger in Chelmsford

Came here last night to host a charity quiz for 60 people. Arranging something for a big group at a place I hadn’t been to before, I was a bit nervous. But I was blown away by everything. Firstly the helpfulness of every single staff member that ensured everyone was satisfied and also the helpfulness they gave me in getting everything set-up ready for the evening. Also, taking the pressure of finishing on time off me by saying they’d stay open as long as I needed them to. Secondly, the food was incredible. The best Indian & Thai I’ve had by far. And many that came along said the same. I’m not really someone to write reviews but felt like our visit was so good that it warranted the praise. 10/10 from start to finish. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been before. I’ll be back soon!!

Another lovely lunch here at the royal tiger. We came New Years Eve early before all the revellers and had a fabulous lunch. Food is always spot on - so fresh and plentiful. The service is brilliant and they are all so welcoming and friendly. The can’t do enough for you. See you again soon. Thanks again.

If you're looking for a spot with variety on the menu and somewhere with great ambiance, the Royal Tiger is definitely the place to be offering Indian cuisine, Thai and sushi. Meat dishes cooked to perfection with a beautiful presentation. I'd highly recommend the smoked salmon sushi, first time ever trying it and I certainly wasn't disappointed, it was delicious. The venue itself caters to all, between your taste buds and, also to couples and families. Nothing is too much trouble for the team that work there, who are really friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for a lovely evening, we will certainly be back

Went to the Royal Tiger with family for sons 12th birthday. We were well looked after. The service was brilliant, staff were only too helpful and we were made to feel really welcome. The food was amazing, loved The Weeping Tiger. I would definitely recommend for family occasions as they also had a dance floor with a live DJ. A brilliant night out.

Food was nice but 2 hrs wait between starters and main ... some people at our table didn't want to wait for dessert/coffee or shot as was fed up by then... so no one else on table was offered...we was all pauimg separate...I presumed they took it off final bill but don't think they did... a fight also broke out on another table.... blood all over this guys face...was scary as was worried more fights will break out..or people on our table will get attacked etc... husband was charged £23 for a pint larger and a diet coke... we checked account after as man at bar at time seemed to act like he done something by mistake... yet claimed he under charged... we rang manager few days after... he was very polite on phone ...was very nice and chatty...said he let us know...but unfortunately didn't get back to us about this....no way we would of spent this on 2 drinks..one of us was driving home! was very disappointed that he didn't get back to us.. we was glad to go home that night.. was early when we left ..just after main meals...was due to stay a lot later so we can use bar etc.. but no way we were staying.

We visited the royal tiger on the 15th December for. School mums night out there was 6 of us . It was very busy in there but that didn’t stop the food and service being amazing there was noting at all we would have changed about that night . Staff were very friendly they literally went above and beyond for us they made our night extra special. We can’t thank them enough I will definitely be returning

I have been a couple of tines in the past. Last night we had a 50th party and rhe food was amazing. The staff are so attentive and go to great lengths to look after you. The singer was good and the was very impressive. Absolutely great venue to visit. Thanks again. 😊

Where do I start. Our party of 18 were sat at a long table with enough room for 12 people. It was so cramped people were climbing over seats to get in and out. Our booking was for 7:30 and we sat on time. MAIN MEAL SERVED AFTER 10pm - No desserts (from the set menu arrived at all). Draft beer ran out by 7:45. Food was disgusting but at least my food arrived, 6 or the parties didn't. Popadoms were even stale. NOBODY THERE SEEMED TO CARE. I saw drug deals going on and fights erupting by the end of the night. THE ONLY ADVICE I CAN OFFER IS AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. NONE OF US WILL BE RETURNING EVER. I will be reporting this place to the local authority licencing officer as there was just breach after breach as far as I could see.

My family attended to Royal Tiger to celebrate my 70th birthday. Several of us had been there before, and the food and seating had always been excellent. This time, however, the table was far from acceptable, but any initial complaints fell on deaf ears. Our party was 13 (7 adults and 6 children) but the table was not sufficient to seat all 13 of us. Initially the four eldest children were put on a separate table, which we didn't consider acceptable - this situation was rectified by another customer (and her children) leaving early in order that we could make use of her table. This meant that our seating arrangement was one long narrow table with small circular tables at either end - not ideal for a family gathering. In addition we were unable to use one side of the long table due to an adjacent table having someone siting at the which meant that space had to be left on order for the staff to attend that table. One wonders what would have happened if our original booking of 15 had actually been present (unfortunately 2 were unable to attend due to illness - one adult and one child in a pushchair). Furthermore, due to the layout it was impossible for certain family members to talk with each other, plus due to our closeness to an inside wall if one person wanted to move for any reason, it meant that 5 or 6 others were forced to vacate their seats. Finally, the total cost was approaching £550, which seems excessive for a party of 13, 6 of which were children. But we didn't get an itemised bill so we have no way of knowing what we were actually paying for. It seems that the restaurant was more concerned with getting as many people in as possible, in some cases to the detriment of those who had already made bookings.

The waiter Khan was horrible. Had no customer service. Was not polite at all. Royal tiger ensured they can cater for 40 people for a surprise party. There was not enough chairs, tables so the children were pushed out. Khan stated they move so they said there was nowhere else to sit to which Khan replied ‘do not argue with me’ he harshly pushed a chair when moving the trolley without saying ‘excuse me’ royal tiger is somewhere where we have been going for many years 10+ and have always had a good relationship with the staff, it’s unfortunate that our experience had to be this way.

Been to the Royal Tiger twice this year - in June for my husband's 50th birthday (about 48 people) and on Saturday night for a friend's birthday (about 40 people). Both these were surprise parties and turned out to be huge successes. From the 1st point of contact - to make the bookings, through-out the planning (there were many calls from myself to arrange the tables we wanted, the menu, and logistical arrangements, etc for the surprise parties) to the very end - the management and staff at the Royal Tiger were excellent - accommodating of my every request, making practical suggestions and ensuring everything went to plan. Laku , Zee, Khan and the rest of the team were friendly, polite, helpful and extremely attentive to our guests - I cannot thank them enough! They acceded to our every request and ensured these celebrations were very special events. The food, on both occasions, was delicious, plentiful and freshly prepared. I am so glad that my friends, family and I found our way back to the Royal Tiger this year - we've had many a good experience here in the past - you never disappoint! Me and my husband love this restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff can’t do enough for you. We had a great night there last night as they had a George Michael tribute act and a DJ afterwards. It was such a great atmosphere. Good job to all at the royal tiger. See you again very soon.

Thirty eight members of the Essex Branch of the Porsche Club GB made our maiden visit to the Royal Tiger last Sunday lunchtime and were very impressed with the whole package of food, service and price. Serving a large group can be a problem at some restaurants but not a problem at all with the friendly staff at the Royal Tiger! Definitely on the agenda for a return visit next spring.

Beautiful food and very friendly staff. Loads of choice and really flavourful, really reasonable prices too. Decoration of the restaurant needed some work but overall was good and will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent value for money at their Sunday buffet. Great food served at the table by friendly staff. Attended their Summer Fun Day which was a really good event. Shame that the rain drove everyone indoors so the kids couldn't enjoy the bouncy castle. Adults well catered for with an excellent live singer, Indian drummers and a DJ.Another one planned for the Bank Holiday and would recommend a visit for a good afternoon out.

Yesterday 16 adults and 6 children sat down outside under the cool arbour and trees at the Royal Tiger Restaurant for a celebratory birthday party. From the outset the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating organising the seating and ensuring that the area was spotless, -great attention to detail!The food was superb, a three course buffet, all served hot and flavoursome with repeat servings if required. The fusion of Thai and Indian flavours were authentic and delicious. The staff were attentive and the pauses between courses was just right.Everyone in the party agreed it was a memorable Sunday lunch and we would all recommend this Restaurant. We shall return.

The first time we ordered a Thai takeaway from here, it was lovely. It was a one off as the two further take always were tasteless. Lots of dry chicken with water sauce. Pad Thai was awful. I can only imagine that there has been a change of chef but won’t be ordering again

We LOVE the Royal Tiger, in fact it’s our favourite restaurant. This visit was for my 60th birthday. As usual we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table with their usual efficiency and grace. We started with popadoms which came with a vast selection of dips, far more than I’ve experienced anywhere else The majority of us opted for the buffet, this is very unusual as it’s brought to your table . An amazingly wide selection of Indian and Thai starters continues the feast. Honestly there’s so much you have to watch it or you will have no room for mains! The buffet banquet now reaches the mains. Again, this is plentiful both in terms of choice and qty. If there is something or other that is eaten and you it your guests would like more, then that is absolutely no problem, as the considerate Waiters are happy to replenish it. On the subject of the waiting staff, they walk the fine line between being available but not in your face.The food is always freshly cooked and is consistently the best of these cuisines we have ever tasted. Over the years we have often introduced many of our family and friends to this fine establishment.They do a selection of desserts, but do not do Birthday cakes. This isn’t a problem as , knowing this, we simply took our own. At the right moment it was brought to the table on a nice cake stand that they provided, candle lit and it’s was lovely.There is a bonus too, in so much as the prices are affordable, so it represents incredible value.

Never Never again. I really wanted to like this restaurant liked what it pretends to be. Saturday night takeaway tasted like the left overs from my fridge. Satay chicken was as dry as old boots. I got popadoms and lime pickle with my Thai... appreciate you do 2 styles but I ordered Thai. Phoned and complained apparently it’s a busy night, if You ordered a telly from Currys and I got a washing machine for premium cash you wouldn’t be happy either. You’re not doing me a favour because you offer Thai in a spars area I wish I got off my backside and cooked. Disgraceful.

Consistently enjoy the food here, particularly their new sushi menu! Quality food every time - would recommend.

We were due to be in Thailand this month but due to lockdown thought we would have a Thai takeaway instead to stay in the spirit. We pre-ordered but the delivery was still 35mins late. The mixed thai starters were soggy and poor quality and the main course dishes of mild green curry, pad thai and red curry were bland and very watery. Perhaps their Indian dishes are better but we were very disappointed and unfortunately we won't be returning.

Maybe this place is really good if you attend... their takeaway however was horrific. 25 minutes late for dry overcooked food, and probably the worst Asian food either myself or my partner have ever tasted. Given it is lockdown we were really hoping to be impressed and to make this a regular Friday tradition... but we can't understate how much of a let down this was (especially given the high prices!).Avoid like the plague if you want a good takeaway.

This is a very late review as we visited as a group of 9 for my birthday in spring 2018 on a Saturday evening. The food was fantastic, service good and had a really nice atmosphere with disco after eating. We will definitely come back again!

Another great visit today to the Royal Tiger - lovely surroundings, very friendly and efficient service, and wonderful food! What more can you ask for?

Had an absolutely lovely time at our favourite restaurant this evening, always great food and the service is second to none. They went above and beyond tonight to make my husbands birthday a fantastic and memorable evening - thank you so much 😊

I visited the restaurant for the first time the other day, I was impressed by the selection of thai and indian dishes they offer, Me and my partner ordered a thai platter for starters, nice portion size and tasty.We had indian for out mains, I tried the kulnar king prawn and dish that i had never seen on an indian menu, this was absolutely amazing when talking to the waiter i found that they have 2 different chefs for thai and indian .I would highly recommend, i cant wait to go back again .

The service is quite amateurish. They struggled with our drinks order and (ironically) producing the bill at the end. Slow and a bit disorganised. Friendly enough but need more training to make more professional. The food was excellent, albeit a bit pricey.

Ordered a take away at 7pm on a Saturday night, requested it to arrive at 8pm. At 10 past 8 I called them to ask where our food was, I was told it had just left, we only live 5 minutes from there so didn’t expect it to be long. At 830 it still hadn’t arrived. I called again at 840pm to be told it was just leaving the kitchen. The lady I spoke to sounded like she couldn’t give a monkeys where the food was and was very flakey. At 9pm, 2 hours since ordered and an hour late, the food arrived. We were given the food with a bottle of wine, we was not asked for any money despite standing quite obviously with cash in hand. We therefor assumed it was a complimentary dinner for all the hassle. Upon opening the food, the sweet chilli dip was missing from the coco prawns so they were dry as a bone and my vegetarian pad Thai contained chicken! Having waited 2 hours, my food was therefore inedible! Lunch time today, we had a call at the door from the restaurant who asked us for the money! Unbelievable!

We ate at the restaurant during the government scheme help to eat. When we arrived at 6.50 we were seated promptly they brought our drinks promptly and popadoms and dips quickly. It then went down hill. Took ages for them to take our order had to in fact ask . When our starters came they were nice,then another long wait for mains. When they arrived my rice was there but my husbands wasn’t they wanted to know if he wanted Indian special rice or Thai should have asked when we ordered. The fact we both ordered Thai mains should have been obvious. They said it would be 2 minutes in reality turned up about 15 mins later so his mains were not hot. I also asked for the bill when they brought his rice 20 mins later nothing chased again after 5 mins got up to pay. Totally dis organised and overwhelmed even had to check what drinks had been ordered. It is a real shame as food was good but will not visit again due to poor service

I think I visited the same evening as a previous reviewer(invitation to Covid19) and agree with all the remarks. This restaurant makes a minimal effort with many aspects of government guidelines regarding Covid.I saw;a packed dining area without adequate spacing between tablesa very large round table with at least 12 people seated no one way system dips on the tables; are they completely replaced after each table sittinga very large gathering of people in a side room for a child's birthday Add very slow and miserable service to the experience.You have been warned!

We decided to have a takeaway & collect it ourselves as the menu clearly states on the front 20% off collection.We went through the menu & thought it was more expensive than most we’d seen but with the 20% discount we’d still go for it.Ordered it over the phone & got to the restaurant to collect, only to be charged full price & when we queried it, were told they weren’t doing the discount due to Covid 19 meaning prices had gone up etc. Which is fine, but they should either cross it off their menus or advise over the phone when ordering. The staff did give us £5 off but this wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t said anything.As for the food, it was perfectly fine, but as the prices were a lot higher than other places, you’d expect amazing, which it wasn’t.

The food was excellent. However, we arrived at 7pm, our starter did not arrive until about 9pm and our main at 10pm. Meanwhile, a party of about 100 persons from a BAME background who made no attempt to socially distance themselves were celebrating a party. There was apparently no policy or provision for social distancing inside the restaurant and, while some staff were equipped with masks and gloves (but not all) these looked as they had been repeatedly used. When questions were raised with staff about their covid19 policy they were apparently unaware of the legal expectations upon them. This restaurant is doing all the things that are likely to lead to a spike in the virus. It is interesting that the other restaurant run by the same company, the Beauvoir Arms in Downham, were featured in the local press for identical failures about ten days ago. They appear not to have learned or do not care.

Excellent food and a great service. Food has always been good quality. A variety of dishes all cooked well. Great choice of Indian and Thai food. We love this place and visit it often. Collected takeaway recently and ww were very impressed.

We visited the Royal Tiger on a Friday evening in February. This was a new part of the world for us and we were attracted by the Thai cuisine, which is a favourite of ours. There was a nice atmosphere, the restaurant was busy but not jam-packed (we had decided to eat quite early), there were a number of groups who were clearly enjoying their evening, this seems to be a popular venue.As planned we ordered from the Thai menu. Our starters were delicious. One main meal described as 'medium' was very mild, the other ‘hot’ meal was gently spiced and the chicken was a bit overcooked. That said, we had a pleasant meal, if not the authentic Thai we are used to, this felt like an Indian restaurant that also served Thai food. We might have done better ordering from the Indian menu. The staff were lovely, welcoming and very friendly, it was an enjoyable evening. and I am sure other diners will have a great evening at the Royal Tiger.

I have just held a Charity night here for 60 people. Laku the manager asked me before the event what I wanted and what spaces in between each course that I would like. He explained to me how the night would pan out. Explaining step by step The staff looked after everyone. Really spoiling the vegetarians by bringing out some special dishes for them. I also had 2 people that were allergic to onions and other things and the special dishes they brought out for them was amazing!! The waiters are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Everyone absolutely raved about the food and service. The restaurant put on a disco until 1am by a fab DJ. Everyone got on the dance floor and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!! The waiters are all so good at their jobs and all are friendly and have a great sense of humour!! Our Party age group ranged from 21-73. So this is an excellent restaurant for EVERYBODY!!!

I attended a Charity night on Saturday, there was 60 of us. The evening was a great success thanks to the wonderful staff at The Royal Tiger. Nothing was too much trouble, even though there was some many of us. We received a warm welcome on arrival, service was prompt and the food was truly delicious. A huge thank you to all the staff.

We have had many meals at the Royal Tiger ever since it opened and have never been disappointed. Can be busy there for noisy at times, but tend to pick when to go. Have read some of the negative reviews and they seem to be anything like our experiences. Need to be aware that a 10% service charge is added to your bill

A very classy nice restaurant. A warm welcoming, followed by an excellent service, with a lot of attention to details on order to please you.I took at first a kingprawn puri, the kingprawn was excellent. And for main i had their house special Lobster in chili sauce and the taste was out of this world. The lobster was fresh and succulent.The service always with a smile and very patient with us.Conclusion, if you have the opportunity to go eat there, do not hesitate !

Third visit, third time bill overcharged by over £10! Unknown items removed again! Queried that bill but was charged £27 for 2 ciders a glass water and service charge! There are lots of nice places to eat and so I would suggest going elsewhere. Shame as we were looking for venue for 50-60 party and this would have been ideal!! Food is okay nothing special and not lots for money. Go elsewhere people don't waste your money here !

We went for a Valentine's day meal, no mention when booking that it was a set menu! Being a vegetarian I had a very limited choice. I chose thai stir fry which was not nice at all, and veg being very hard, I couldn't eat it. My partners food was cold. The Staff were very abrupt. We won't be going back.

I held a charity event at the royal tiger in which I was not impressed with. We were told that the food was going to be out by 8:00pm which then came out by 9, when going to ask what all of the hold up was I got nothing but rudeness from the staff and was told to “wait”. When the food eventually did come out there wasn’t a lot of it considering we had over 100 people at our event. The amount of food given was not sufficient, considering there were big tables of 12. We also found that when going to buy drinks staff were making up the prices throughout the night. I know that some places their prices increase as the night goes on. However, guests were being charged different prices for getting a drink at the same time. We had one incident where the total came to £27 but when trying to use contactless the staff said it was not working. The lady then realised that they had tried to charge her £127 instead of £27 for a bottle of Prosecco. As part of the price we paid, we were told that this included a banquet of Indian and Thai cuisines for starters and mains. We were then told that there would be a buffet for the desserts. There was no buffet for the desserts and when asked where they were. We were told that there was no buffet. Therefore, the staff told us incorrect information of what the price of the ticket included. Our guests were not satisfied with the organisation from the the Royal Tiger. Last but not least we tried to hold a raffle in which we were told we had to be quiet due to other people in the restaurant, this made it very difficult for us to announce the prizes and who had won. Although the food was nice, the customer service was appalling and the lack of organisation showed. I can openly say I’ll never be returning or recommending this restaurant.

Went with a party of 15 tonight. My food tasted fantastic however it’s quite bland for Tikka Masala. Perhaps it’s made for the typical Brit in fairness. I found a couple hairs in my dish, the cook should be more aware. Also, the atmosphere was great - clearly the community likes this place.The service was well below average. On the bright side, the food came out in good time. However, the manners of the staff were dreadful. They were neither courteous nor patient. Each time a dish arrived they came in like a wrecking ball. No manners - they were abrupt, rude and unwelcoming. Particularly a heavy-set 40-year-oldish man with lighter skin and a man with short hair and glasses also in his 40s. They seemed to be senior members and did not set a good example. It felt as if I collected more dishes than they did. I was constantly picking up dishes which they ordered me briskly to do. If you cannot reach all of the dishes, perhaps you shouldn’t squeeze a party of 15 in a tiny corner. If you need a hand - ask nicely. If you’re not sure what someone ordered - ask nicely.My grandparents were treated very rudely. I understand that it was a Saturday night, but you need to treat elders with more respect. We were not a hindrance at all. We knew what to order and waited when necessary. I wouldn’t come back to this restaurant. Please don’t allow your awful service to overshadow the excellent food.

Every first Thursday of the month they have a bingo and meal evening I totally recommend you going to this! The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and Trevor and Heather are very entertaining with their bingo. The prize money is really good too. A fab night out. Also great value for the amount of food you get. Thank you Royal Tiger!

The marriage of Indian and Thai food is a happy one. The choice of dishes was perfect as was the taste. Service was good and quick and the portions so generous we had to ask for doggy bags. A great place for any special occasion or for a business lunch.

On the 7th December we visited the Royal Tiger for a birthday celebration with a group of friends. I have to say i have eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years and I am never impressed with the customer service. We were a large group of 17 and had the christmas set menu.

Here for Dads 80th, 25 of us very well looked after. Food was lovely and staff very helpful and understanding looking after vegetarians too.We will certainly return.

I have been to the restaurant before for food and once for an entertainment evening and never had a problem, I booked 5 weeks in advance for a work xmas party for 9 people and paid a deposit of nearly £100 at the time of booking.

Had a school mums evening out here for Christmas, everything under one roof. Sooo much food and very yummy. Great deal for what we got. Will definitely be returning

Went with a friend. First impression was good as the decor was very nice. There were a lot of large parties in there and it was very loud making having a conversation nearly impossible. The food was very nice with good portions. It was when we got the bull that we noticed that the prices differed from the menu but the most annoying thing was the 10% service charge that was added to the bill and appeared to be compulsory. I have to say that really annoyed us as I always tip but like to choose how much. Dissapointing!

Attended a friends Birthday bash here with about 20 guests on 2 round tables. The food is a 2 course choice from a short menu of Thai or Indian food. There were over 200 people in the restaurant so extremely busy but the food order came out in good time and was very tasty. However, the drinks were very slow to appear with the Bar under extreme pressure from the large number of diners. Also, as a consequence, the Disco didn't start until gone 11.00pm to allow the tables to be cleared and our cab was arriving at 12pm.

I have been going here for a few years and the staff are so friendly,the food is excellent..The Sunday buffet is the Best..Prices are reasonable ?Relaxing atmosphere...

Admit to not going to this restaurant in a while - Johnny Cash look alike might be the last time - I had forgotten how good the food was. We passed a very nice couple of hours talking and enjoying some really good food. The fusion concept is brilliant, being able to mix and match between Thai and Indian is great (personally don’t like the Thai crackers and will always opt for poppadoms). I had the Thai tempura veg as a starter and the gai massaman, we shared rice, pad tai and a delightful garlic nan. The option of a 2 course meal for 2 @ £25 kept the price very reasonable (£20 / head including drinks and service)offer available Mon - Wed. Would recommend

I won't say we're regulars at the Royal Tiger, because this suggests we go there every week or so, we don't, it's just one of two places we automatically go to if we want an Indian meal out.

i love the chicken tikka sizzlers and the satay chicken starters . the rest of the food was lovely too . great entertainment cant wait till saturday nom nom

We held a charity night on Thursday 26 September to raise funds for Downham Village Hall. We can't compliment the staff highly enough. The food was served hot and efficiently. The quality of the food was very good indeed and as we elected to have the buffet menu there was something for everyone. A good night was had by all and we raised a considerable amount for the charity. Certainly will be returning to this very well run restaurant.

Had lunch here today with 2 elderly lady relatives, both over 90. The food was excellent as always, and the service very good. The staff looked after us so well, and charmed our elderly ladies with their courtesy and gallant manner. We will definitely bring them back again, maybe with more of the family next time!

We had a wonderful meal here. Every mouthful had a taste explosion on my tongue. All off the staff were friendly and attentive. I would happily recommend this lovely place.

Held my wife's 60th here.they Helped me organise and provided a very good service on the night. Food was good and the ladies enjoyed the dance floor. Very good value Great night.

Popped in and fancied a tasty chicken Biriani . Righto an Asda ready meal container box has more taste than the horrid slop served . Curry had more oil than the sea after an oil tanker ran aground . Chicken was tough and poor cuts. Rice was wet not dry . Had to have a desert to take the taste out if my mouth mainly because it would have come out of a tub and they couldn't muck that up....could they? I see some disappointing reviews about the Royal Tiger here when I have praised them before. Maybe there will be a time when they are not so good for us but I hope it never happens!! All I can say is that we visited them again recently for their 'hidden gem' of a Sunday buffet that is served at the table.

What is there not to love about the Royal Tiger?? Great food, fabulous entertainment and the staff are spot on!! Check out this little gem. Can’t wait to return.🥂

A group of us went to this restaurant last night for a birthday celebration, and we will never return. The quality of food was absolutely shocking. Dry, over cooked chicken and ridiculously small portion sizes for the price. We felt thoroughly ripped off. Such a shame as the atmosphere and music was great, but the food wholly let’s the place down. We won’t be back. Oh, and they ran out of vodka so the wait for drinks was extremely lengthy.

The food had no taste or any nice flavouring. The meat was really dry, staff not very friendly and well over priced.

The service and attention was excellent when we went for my sons surprise 16th birthday. Nothing too much trouble, its always busy so that tells you something.

Booked this restaurant for a wedding-eve meal as a family of 4 as our son was getting married the next day & we hadn’t all been together for quite a while.

We had t been here for about a year so decided to return bringing a friend who hadn’t been before. I love the fact that I can choose my favourite Thai dishes while my partner (& our friend) chose their preferred Indian ones. Everything was cooked perfectly and although there was a slight mix up with one of the chosen meals, it was swiftly replaced leaving the mistaken one for us to enjoy free of charge. My only slight disappointment was the waiting staff...not the traditional Indian but Eastern European and not the most engaging of people. That said, we had a lovely evening with great food.

Went to the royal tiger last night for a birthday meal as a group of 30 and my god was it awful. The food was disgraceful, chewy, cold and it all tasted the same (and that was majority of our party not just my view). The manager- well I’ve never come across someone so rude and unprofessional before. When we complained he simply shrugged and quite clearly didn’t give a damn. We chose this place as there’s a Dj at 9- 9.30 and thought we’d have a good dance but NO the DJ didn’t turn up till 11.25! The drinks are over priced - pint of beer and a j2o £10! And the meal price I think they make it up as they go along. We were told £27.50 incl service but on the limited menu it said £20???? Horrible food, management and dodgy service!! AVOID I’ve given it 1 star but would give it none if I could. Never going back!!!

I wanted to throw a small surprise birthday party for my very pregnant wife. As we live next door to The Royal Tiger, I decided on ordering a vast array of starters to cater for the 15 people we had coming over as it was the only way to cater for people without my wife knowing.

We had a table booked for 9 one of which was a child. We had visited Royal Tiger many times before and always had a good dining experience.

We have just returned from The 'Tiger' and once again had a fabulous time. We must have visited this Restaurant a dozen times over the last few years and every time the staff and food do not fail us: also the entertainment is brilliant.

Just had the most delicious lunch with good friends. Great selection of dishes, generous portion size, lovely decor, good service and very reasonable prices. Well done all round to the Royal Tiger.

Ate there Friday night, 7th June. The only thing I ate all day was the "Bangkok Chicken" & noodles. I was violently vomiting my guts up at 5am the following morning. The only reason for this was the chicken wasn't cooked properly, or (as I suspect) not freshly cooked, microwaved or reheated & had been hanging around in the kitchen not fit for consumption. The waiter we initially had did not engage, smile or show any sign of civility whatsoever - where do they get these people?! I've been there before and never been impressed, tried to rip us off with the bill the first time we went there. This time was a deeply unpleasant experience....NEVER AGAIN!!! Needless to say I've reported the "restaurant" to the Food Standards Agency & Chelmsford council, let's hope they inspect the place very soon!!

Enjoyed 241 Offer on Starters/Mains, Lamb Chop Starter Excellent, Prawn Coco was poor with black line , Thai Mains Krateim, Panang & Pad Thai Side were exceptional as was the accompanying Naan. Drink deal White Wine great value for money. No hesitation in returning.

I booked a table for myself and 7 of my freinds for what was ment to be a enjoyable catch up.

Oh dear this was the second visit after a not very satisfactory first visit. Thought we would give it a second chance. Waiter knew I was vegetarian and I asked for the same dish a Thai green curry to be cooked extra mild as it was the first time we had visited . ( But that was only after it had been corrected as my request had not been fulfilled then) So this second visit to Royal tiger I thought has to be better and I reminded the staff again that I was vegetarian and only ate extra mild Indian food so that they would produce a dish that I asked for and that was edible. Horribly This was not the case at all and as a result I had to request It be done again. As for the rest of the service and food - it was lacklustre almost like a school dinner canteen hour nothing à la cart about it. To add insult to injury I advised that I did not eat egg noodles and asked for rice noodles- instead they brought out rice noodles covered with egg and then one member of staff insisted they don’t cook it with egg til I showed him the very obvious pieces of throughout .Suffice to say it was not an enjoyable night and I asked for a discount off the bill as I was not satisfied with our dinner . I do not feel that the discount that they gave was sufficient but just wanted to get out of there. As we were leaving I’m an almost sarcastic gesture a member of staff went to hand out a “ do come again “ voucher and so I advised we would not be returning and that we had an awful time!

Love this place during the week when it’s quieter. Nice relaxed environment with good service. Food always tasty and piping hot. Kitchen willing to tailor food to own taste and get it spot on every time. Never disappointed.

A group of 8 here on Mothering Sunday

Attractive restaurant, clean, tables well-spaced, staff pleasant and attentive. A varied menu. Six of us each had different main courses and, without exception, were extremely satisfied with taste, quantity and presentation.

Every time we passed the Royal Tiger we said we ought to have a meal there. So glad we did because we had a lovely meal from the lunch menu. It was hot and obviously freshly made, very tasty and great value. Two courses for £12.50. Waiters were friendly and we will certainly be going back again.

I took my Family to a Sunday lunch and we had the buffet menu. This consisted of several mixed starters and mixed mains of beef, lamb, chicken and tiger prawn dishes and vegetables all in various sauces and curries.

Booked for 25 guests for my Dads 60th Birthday for Saturday lunch set menu. We had 3 spacious tables, great service, lovely food, good portion sizes and loads of sides to share. Mixture of Indian and Chinese style dishes. Something for everyone. Thank you to all the staff who made my Dads birthday a great experience! Would definitely recommend.

How disappointing went with two other couples total 6. I can’t say I or my husband enjoyed one single dish. The Thai food was awful not authentic at all. It was a set buffet Sunday lunch as much as you can eat. Well that tells it all. When a restaurant offers eat as much as you like it normally is infer food and this was. Thai red prawn curry was the worst I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been to Thai cooking school this wasn’t even a slight pink colour just very little curry paste in it no aromatic flavour at all no fresh herbs at all. The Indian food wasn’t a lot better. The curriers weren’t tasty the only dish I liked was the naan bread. What a shame It was a total waste of £70 ( our share of the bill ). the one plus was an ice bucket with ice in it which kept our wine nicely chilled.

38 of us had a splendid Sunday Buffet which everybody thoroughly enjoyed. The staff at The Tiger never fail to impress and we can't recommend this venue highly enough. Mike and Mary Boling.

We have been here before but not for a while. Here tonight for works Xmas do not only was it £45 a head but we had a 7.30pm booking they didn’t take our order until 8.45pm and starts served at 9.15pm. We are still waiting for our mains god knows what time they will arrive! When paying for a babysitter they has set us back more!

We booked a table at the Royal Tiger for my daughter's 21st Birthday. There were 14 family members in our party, (12 adults and 2 children). We were really looking forward to the evening as we had been there many times before and always have had a fantastic night BUT DEFINITELY NOT THIS TIME!

Visited The Royal Tiger recently for a birthday celebration and the food was superb. Although we were a big party the place was well staffed and the food kept on coming. Drinks prices are reasonable and on this night there was a DJ in action who didn't overpower but kept a good few people on the dance floor. Well worth a look, they also do live tribute act nights.

Very welcoming and good service for this unusual sunday lunch. Unusual in that it was a mix of thai and indian food. The buffet food was good, especially the starters, although the main courses were quite bland but that is understandable as it should appeal to all guests.

We've eaten at the Royal Tiger a few times and always enjoyed the food.

Sunday lunch with extended family!

Fantastic food. Great service. We arrived on a theme night which great as we were offered a seat near the singer or at the rear of the restaurant. You could have Thai or Indian or both! Will definitely be returning!

Stroppy staff can’t get anyone’s attention if you do ,it’s too much bother ,foods generic Indian and Thai ,good to go if you’re in a big group but it is out of the way

I guess the idea of having an Indian and playing bingo really struck me not your everyday combination but it lead me to visit here with my girlfriend and some of our friends. The combination is a terrible idea the waiters were very moody due to rushing around eating food whilst dabbing your bingo is not good at all it becomes messy, the bingo caller was ok sometimes a little quiet it was disappointing. Take nothing away from the food which was nice.

Amazing service and food. Not much into spicy food but very good selection of non spicy on the menu, service was excellent. Have now booked up for a tribute night event. Highly recommend for all your night out needs, wonderful. Best place in this area. Unfortunately can't put a rating for some reason, but 5/5 for all three,

Thankyou once again to The Royal Tigar for another brilliant bank holiday Sunday weekend . Food was amazing as always entertainment was brilliant , can’t praise the staff enough . Good family atmosphere love this place so much
