No idea what the food is like because we waited at an outside table for 15 minutes. Eventually gave up and went inside to order and was told to sit back outside and someone would come out. Another 5 minutes passed so gave up and left. There was only about 6 customers inside so not as though they were busy. Crap service.

We were visiting the Royal Pavilion and wanted a cuppa before we started. The Tearoom is very small and narrow - it used to be part of the servants quarters for the Pavilion - with seats inside and outside. The staff were lovely, there is a big range of teas and coffees on offer; not to mention cakes, pastries and sandwiches. Our teas were served in teapots, we got 2 cups each. It was a lovely brew, so much so that we visited again after our visit to the Pavilion.

My wife and I enjoyed fortifying cups of tea with cake after touring the pavilion. Yes it IS small, but is perfectly formed! It is so nice to eat and drink from bone china plates and cups. The lemon meringue pie and carrot cakes we had were definitely superior. We were not feeling like eating more but they have a good range of tasty looking light savoury offerings for those whose appetites run to that sort of thing. Recommended!

AVOID THIS POKEY little cafe with limited seating where I was charged £4.90 for one-cup pot of tea (one teabag!) which I queried and was told it was cos of the 'park'?? Then when I tried to pay in cash I was told 'card only' following which when I paid with my c/c I saw they had SNEAKILY added an additional 12% / 59p 'service charge' to walk 5 metres with a tray so total cost = £5.49!!! WHAT A TOTAL RIP OFF!!!

I was particularly after the lemon merengue pie, but the had sold out. Instead I chose an orange cake to go with my coffee. The coffee was nothing special, being better than some as well as being worse than some. The cake was very dry, so it was not at all enjoyable. So much so that I could not eat it all. With the prices a bit on the steep side, I would have expected excellence. Sadly, this was not the case

WE had not visited the palace for a long time. We had forgotten how beautiful everything is. We thought we would finish off with scone and pot of tea. We asked for fruit scones but these do not qualify as fruit. The scone mixture was the same as the plain scones and mine had about four currants in it. The cost £6.95 never again

Although the food and drink is above average quality and the service know what they are doing, to wait 15 minutes queuing at the counter to place the order, then a further 20 minutes waiting for it to turn up is not on. And this was just for 2 teas and a cake. I could have taken it away from the service point, if I would have been allowed to do so.

We were bought a tour and cream tea for our anniversary and after phoning the Pavilion Cafe to ask if they did Gluten Free and vegan cream teas we decided to go. The person I spoke to said they definitely catered for both so told them what day we would be coming. When we arrived at the cafe we were told that they do gluten free but they might not be able to do vegan. I told them I had been assured that they would do vegan. The manager said don’t worry he would do his best to provide something. When it arrived it was just two scones that when cut disintegrated into a pile of flour on the plate a little jar of jam , a strange flapjack with a sponge layer on it and a ginger bread man.

After visiting the Royal Pavilions, I brought my group of University of Denver photography students to the Royal Pavilions Tea Rooms for cream tea. I had been talking up this part of the trip as a highlight. I'd been bringing University of Denver student groups to the Tea Rooms for many years and always had a good experience. This time however, I was shocked and embarrassed when told by staff we would not be served because we did not book in advance. When I purchased the tickets I asked if the Tea Rooms were open because that was one of the reasons for our visit. There was no mention that our group would be refused service in such a rude manner. Had I known that would happen I would not have spent 280 ponds for the Royal Pavilions tickets. My students were all seated in the Tea Rooms expecting a unique English cream tea cultural experience. How disappointed they were when I told them we were being refused service by the staff. The students rebounded, but my day in Brighton was completely ruined. I will never visit the Royal Pavilions Tea Rooms again. This is only the second negative review I've posted.

The visit itself was very interesting but the service in the Tea Room blew us away. My girlfriend is dairy intolerant, we emailed them 1 month before our visit asking if they had a dairy free version of the cream tea. They explained there would be a dairy free spread available. On the day of our visit When we asked about dairy free, we were in shock that not only did the Manager know her name one of his colleagues went specifically out to acquire a delicious vegan scone. We have never experienced such great service as this towards her allergy, and usually presented with a shop bought alternative which is inedible. Can't thank them enough.

I became a member of the Royal Pavilion specifically so I could use this cafe with its wonderful views and take advantage of its balcony However 3 times recently the balcony has been closed for no obvious reason . Today being one of them It was not raining at all , when I asked why they said because its too wet and windy . My friend said its 10 mph wind the trees are not even moving and it is so stuffy and humid in here .. We were not allowed on the balcony yet again .. I ordered a cauliflower soup and asked if it contained mushrooms as I am allergic to them .. the chef had already left we were told so they did not know so the waitress was simply told to say yes .. Is it not a legal requirement that the staff /management know the ingredients of things they sell to prevent people with allergies becoming ill and not to simply guess at it and say no ?? I asked another question and was told that they couldnt bother her again with anything as they had already asked her about mushrooms !! I asked if this woman /manager was in fact a genie that could only answer one question .. Bizarre customer service at its very strangest .. It is not cheap here and you have to pay admission or a membership to frequent it so you would think the service would be amazing !! This is a beautiful place the tea and cakes are great but they need to realise why people spend a lot of money on getting memberships and it is to take advantage of the balcony All too often its closed and when its stuffy and closed they do not open he windows either .. If they could rectify these issues it would be amazing I am more than sure a lot of people will not renew their memberships for the very reasons I have outlined here ..

I believe I had read somewhere that these tearooms seated 125 people but this was certainly not the case unless the writer was including the outside area, which was closed on the day we visited. As there were notices everywhere on the balcony/patio area asking customers not to feed the birds, I imagine that the seagulls (clearly visible perched in various places) would be a distinct nuisance in the summer months! My companion and I were the recipients of a 'cream tea' gift and thoroughly enjoyed our very fresh fruit scone each, served with jam and clotted cream. The accompanying pot of tea, although served in an extremely heavy and rather attractive chinese-themed teapot, was not what you would call hot. It does seem remarkably difficult to obtain a decent HOT cup of tea in most places these days! I thought the surroundings in the actual tearoom were lovely, the chairs were very comfortable and the view of the gardens while seated by the window was good, especially if you enjoy the spectacle of parties of schoolchildren being rounded up and herded off for their next adventure! The toilets were a short walk away but, very sadly, this venue is entirely unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues as there are stairs everywhere, the tearooms are located on the first floor of the Pavilion and there is no lift.

Loved this place. Very quaint and old fashioned with a hint of times past. Quiet. Good service. Good food. Would visit again.

A calm and comfortable area within the pavilion to enjoy midway refreshment whilst visiting the Royal Pavilion.

My wife and i often call into this place when we visit new brighton nice and relaxing the food is good and a fair price and if you call in on the right day you are treated to a couple of hours of free entertainment with a pianist or a man on a guitar dogs are also catered for but they have to stay down stairs

We booked an afternoon tea for a party of 20 here as party of a programme of events for our wedding guests. We hadn't specifically said it was part of a wedding day, preferring to enjoy the normal offering of both established we used during the day for food. . Peter who manages this establishment, open only to visitors to The Royal Pavilion was so helpful in arranging exactly what we wanted. When we arrived part way through our tour the tables were set up ready, the afternoon tea set out and beautifully presented and garnished, prosecco at the ready. All of our party were impressed. Service was great too. Thank you Peter and team for making this a memorable and lovely part of the day.

It's dropped off. The Victoria Sponge is shop-bought and bland. It used to have an atmoshpere of charm and panache. Now it's just blah. Very slow service. Very small space.

Since the Royal Pavilion is so over the top ornate, we expected the tea room to be lovely. We were really looking for a superlative high tea experience. We found it to be extremely ordinary and unimpressive. We visited during the week so perhaps it is much improved on the weekend. Double check what's going on before booking.

Went into Small Batch, Hove Station at 4.20 pm yesterday. I ordered a coffee as a dine-in customer. Was told that I would have to use a take away cup as they would be closing soon. I left but not before telling the cashier that I would have drunk my coffee within 10 minutes. Small Batch website indicates that they close at 5.00 pm. BTW there were no other customers. Anyway, I went down the road and gave another coffee shop my business.

Unfortunately, even though there were many things right I'll be avoiding this place. The service was impeccable, good beer, perfect lighting and lovely music. So what was wrong? A coven of aggressive women believing they ran the place because they'd booked a table. At their request the music, that I'd been enjoying, was turned off so they could conduct their meeting whilst sipping peppermint tea. I'd suggest a pub isn't an ideal place for this sort of thing. Especially if you're hell-bent on spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else. Sadly, they're regulars.

Absolutely excellent. Had the calamari starter and the small plate of scallops which was exquisite. Glass of Whispering Angel rosé to accompany. Recommended.

Walking through Kemptown we stumbled across this place. Is very small but has a much needed and appreciated outside area. The barman was lovely & sitting there watching the world walk by in the sun enjoying cold alcoholic beverages was gorgeous.

Best hot donuts ever. This is my favourite place to have donuts in Brighton. I wanted to tag them on Facebook but couldn't..
