Lovely wee pub, we went for late afternoon drinks. Very friendly service, we sat outside even although it was cold but very good outside heaters. Definitely recommend 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😘

Cosy, rustic pub with the prettiest beer courtyard in town….. and it’s a Fullers pub, so great beer. Bar staff and dogs are friendly.

This pub is worth seeking out, it has a wonderful comfy interior, friendly bar staff, great range of hand pumped ales and lots of chilled bottled beers if that's what floats your boat.

Called up and asked to speak to the landlord/landlady as I had an interest in hosting a private event at the pub that I wanted to discuss. The lady who answered the call wouldn’t let me speak and said they don’t do sales calls and hung up on me, though it wasn’t a sales call.. bit weird tbh. Oh well, I’m sure there are other pubs in Guildford who will be more friendly and open to this as it’s nothing strange or out of the ordinary for people to host functions at pubs!

The Oak remains a lovely traditional in the centre of Guildford. Set back from the busy High Street behind Holy Trinity church it is an oasis of tranquility. It serves a lovely range of beers including HSB, ESB and more.

Went there for the first time last night and was really impressed. The beer garden is small but very nice. One thing I wanted to applaud is their selection of low-alcohol beers. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many in a pub. I wasn’t drinking last night but didn’t feel like I missed out as there were so many good options to choose from!

Stopped for a drink on a Saturday afternoon in March with friends. The staff are friendly. The inside area is cosy and there is a sweet little beer garden. A good selection of drinks. We will be back!

One of the few places in Guildford that can be relied on for decent beer. Really nice bubbly yet cosy ambience.

Great local , watched the rugby, England v Scotland, pub busy and buzzy, had no problems getting served , as there was enough staff working, great selection of beers and spirits , can't comment on food as did not eat . The pub had people of all ages, all enjoying a good night.

A good winter pub, no food, but a good selection of bar snacks. A lot of self-service drinks out of the fridge, which is a bit strange

What an absolutely lovely, cosy, welcoming pub. Very friendly staff, delicious mulled wine and mulled gin and we could happily have spent hours sitting by the fire.

The range of beers has gone down hill this past year. No idea why. Just like any other pub now.

This is the 2nd year running that a group of us (6 men of a ‘certain age’) have gone for Christmas dinner. The food was once again excellent - as was the service of our ‘hostess’ (Elie). The only marginal ‘downside’ was that - because the bar was so busy - we couldn’t be offered ‘table service’ for replenishment of our drinks. That meant that one of us had to stand in a queue for 10 minutes in the middle of our meal to get served with our drinks. Not ideal.

A very popular pub amongst the locals. Wood burning fire place, charcoal beams, yellow warm lighting, perfect for a winter evening. The beer are very decently priced also. It is tucked in behind the busy high street. Would highly recommend.

A very welcoming atmosphere!!! Matt gave me a variety of the draft lagers and spirits to try and safe to say the head was hurting the next day. Regardless the service was impeccable and I was looked after right until the end of my night . Safe to say where I’ll be celebrating my birthday. Thanks for having us xo

Best pub in Guildford! Really good range of drinks, good music and such a friendly atmosphere

I've been drinking in the Royal Oak, on and off, for over 20 years and have seen it go through loads of phases of being bad, OK, good and great. Each has been attributable to the landlord and right now, Russell has the place at an all time high. Wet pubs are few and far between these days as making them pay is hard, but the Royal Oak proves you can. Maybe it is down to the great idea of allowing customers to order in from their favourite takeaway. I've never seen anyone do so, but when a pub can't make food pay so it's not worthwhile, what a great idea.

The bartender (girl with lovely pair of glasses) was so kind and welcoming.

Although it's a small pub, what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with its charm and fantastic service from its staff. Offering a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and located just off of the High Street, The Royal Oak is definitely the place to go for drinks with friends. The only downside is that they don't provide food but you're than welcome to bring your own food.

Like being in someone's cozy living room, only with a friendly bar and service. The beams and sofas add character and they even have a decent selection of low alhohol beers. Close to the high street. Highly recommended.

I actually rather like this pub ... Right next to the graveyard..gives it a feeling of quiet you don't expect. Nice outside area if s little small .. but they have done the best they can given the space.. friendly bar staff

I visited here this evening. Popped in for a pint. Working away for the week and I was pleasently pleased. Good drinks selection and bar snacks. The bar is very clean. Dog friendly and games available to play in the bar area. I would visit again.

Saturday afternoon visit after having some lunch else where. Been so long since we last were here. This is a lovely traditional old fashioned pub hidden behind Holy Trinity Church on the High Street. It doesn't do food, just crisps, etc. Open fire and old-fashioned High back winged chairs (that could do with some major tlc). Lovely bar staff so friendly and chatty. We'll worth a visit

The Royal Oak is a great pub. There's a wide range of drinks available. It's not the biggest pub in the world, but I guess that means you don't have to walk far to the bar!

I said I was looking Fullers ESB and the bar tender came up with a fanciful story about how it’s no longer made (which of course is not true) - told the owner he should educate his staff which he said he won’t pass on my comments. The beer they had London Pride was awful (and no I didn’t take it back) I left the pub instead.

Been coming here for nearly 20 years on and off, and seen the pub itself go through a number of image / service / food approaches over the years. One thing that lets it down these days is the lack of customer service - case in point standing at the bar for 10 minutes waiting for whomever is on duty that day to reappear and serve. 9 times out of 10 it's a team member having a chat outside and neglecting the bar - well surely of you're on duty, your priorities are making sure the customers are looked after? Fantastic array of products and good beer - get the attention to detail with the service and you'll be laughing.

What a lovely pub in the heart of Guildford Town centre, lovely staff and the in house dogs are a treat. Will definitely come back again, expecially for the niknak crisp wich I haven't had in years

No food just snacks. But the beer selection is very good. ...and there's live music sometimes.

I have been walking past this pub for about 40 years and never been in. I eventually ended up there last night (a Saturday). It has beautiful old beams on the ceiling and arm chairs round a fire place which looked very cosy. There’s a few tables out the back which overlook an old graveyard which is a bit different! There’s a great choice of drinks and snacks. A few board games knocking about. A very enjoyable experience. We only stayed for one pint as we were doing a bar crawl but will definitely be returning

I love The Royal Oak because there is always a friendly crowd there and helpful bar staff. It's a cozy oasis in the middle of town. It also has some great beers!

Went to the Royal Oak for the first time yesterday, what a great pub, will definitely be going back. The selection of drinks on offer are amazing and the atmosphere was great. The staff were lovely, especially Brad & James who saved my arse (literally). Thanks guys for the safety pins!
