The food was disgusting. No atmosphere over priced. Should be inspected by health inspectors Sept. 2023.

On Holiday in Cornwall we visited on a sunny evening with family at pub opening time, hoping to have a meal, Pub was very quiet at the time. After picking a table outside we went to get menus and were told rather abruptly by who appeared to be the manager that they weren’t doing food for ‘unreserved’ tables. Very disappointing as the pub itself looked very welcoming. Needless to say we left without even buying a drink.

Out for a drive on our day off and stumbled across this pub so decided we’d have lunch here. Friendly waitress but she was on her own and extremely busy. Everyone had to sit and wait for her to come and take drink and food orders but sitting outside she couldn’t easily tell who was next in line to be served. We were lucky and served quickly but two other tables gave up and left. Dog friendly - they have their own menu. Food came out fairly quickly and it was hot and tasty. Would definitely return if we are that way again.

Having experienced the ‘pub grub’ venues in St Mawes and avoiding the two ‘London priced’ hotel restaurants, we remembered the Roseland Inn at Philleigh from a couple of years back. A proper village inn, with great atmosphere, great staff, and the food was the best we had had during our whole stay! I kid you not, the sausage and pancetta tagliatelle would even impress Gordon Ramsey, cooked perfectly, and very very tasty, recommended! All in all, 5 stars for everything, and very reasonably priced. Thanks to all the staff at the Roseland Inn for making it a great last evening!!

Our second visit this week and both food and service was excellent. Sea bass with fried polenta, asparagus and cherry tomatoes was delicious. It was followed by tiramisu, beautifully presented and also delicious. Unsurprisingly, this is a popular pub and so it is best to book ahead. A traditional and very old country pub. A good variety of meals on the menu with daily specials.

Starters were OK, my scotch egg was sparse and the mussels were gritty. The mains were better. My venison was delicious and the steak was good. We visit Mother-in-law in Cornwall (Truro) as often as we can and are always looking for places for a decent lunch in pleasant surroundings. Over the years we have found quite a few places that we have visited more than once, and of course a few that wont be seeing us again. In this case, we are staggered why we haven't been before and we know now that The Roseland is "on the radar" for future return visitsWith the added benefit of being "dog friendly" we booked on line and are so glad we did. The staff are personable efficient and welcoming, the beer and drinks well served and the food absolutely fabulous. It is obvious that they know what they are doing in the kitchen because the menu is excellent and the food well prepared. It's always so pleasing when you find somewhere that values your patronage, provides the right atmosphere and produces some superb food.We will be back next time we're in Cornwall and we definitely recommend the Roseland In for great beer and great food which is sensibly priced. It shouldn't be forgotten that this visit was during the Covid 19 pandemic ; all protocols were followed by staff and visitors and didnt detract from our enjoyment of the visit.

We visited the The Roseland Inn last night at Philleigh. The Inn is situated in a quintessentially Cornish village and the Inn itself is delightful full of character and history. It's best to book the locals love this place as do visitors once they have found it. The welcome was brilliant really lovely staff who were attentive right through the meal. The menu is extensive and features many locally caught fresh fish dishes in fact the menu and specials were so extensive even before we started our dinner we had decided to return at a later date. The choice of wines was good and it was nice to see local wines and local real ale for sale. Our meal was lovely, I choose just good pub grub but with class, whitebait with lemon dip followed by sausage and mash. My partner had Wild Mushroom tapenade with sour dough toast as a starter and Beef Stroganoff with sour sour cream and wild rice. Everything was cooked to perfection the portion size was excellent and the prices very good. We've booked to go back so that we can try the Monkfish tails in a mild curry sauce and one of the local wines plus the Lemon Posset for sweet. If your near St Mawes a visit is a must, good parking and plenty of external seating in a lovely cottage garden if the weather is good. The Inn welcomes dogs as well so it's definitely a winner if you bring your pooch away on your holidays or Cornish break.

I have been eating here for the last 8 years, every holiday in Cornwall, but last nights in my view was poor and expensive, We booked because of the current situation and was told it was full-table service, if you’re going to offer full table service at least put more staff on to cope with the extra workload as two hours to eat a pub meal is just too long and sitting on a hard bench perched over your food is not the best way to eat. Quality of the food was okay, but I saw no reduction in the price as a result of the VAT change, and when checking the receipt later there was no mention of the VAT at all, I know like most of us revenue has been affected by the lockdown but don’t try and make it up from one meal, £120+ for 2 Adults and 2 Children is expensive. In short, slow expensive meal on uncomfortable seats. What has happened here it was a great good value place to eat, not any more.

I met long-lost friends for lunch at the Roseland Inn, a few days after they re-opened. The pub took a late booking at 11.a.m for a 13.00 start. We chose to sit outside and were quickly directed to the day's special starter and main menu. My guests chose Scallops in pancetta sauce, and traditional fish and chips, and I chose the crab risotto. The publican, Phil, was in teh kitchen and produced delicious fresh seafood. The service was COVID-19 safe aware, discreet, smiling and attentive. We caught up on 30 years of family news and music passions. A great meal washed down with Cornwall brewed Sharps Doom Bar for the men and a spritzer for my lady guest. She commented on how wonderful the scallops were, the highlight of their mini break to Cornwall. This is a remote put in a beautifual corner of Wild COrnwall that deserves a visit on this evidence

The mains were ok, nothing you could complain about but not excellent, which we have previously enjoyed here. Will definitely return as we are sure it’s first week back after a long layoff

Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch with the family and dog. Lovely warm welcome and and a marvellous Sunday roast, including an excellent nut roast with vegan gravy. Individually presented vegetables were red cabbage, parsnips, carrots and cauliflower cheese. All for £12, yes £12 - that is a serious amount of food for such a competitive price I would have been happy to pay a wee bit more. Highly recommended.

I took my son for dinner tonight to celebrate his 16th Birthday. A Monday night in November is not an easy one for a celebration but it turned out to be a perfect chilled evening. The pub way quiet, the woodburner was roaring and the service was friendly and attentive. My son had the Carpaccio of beef and said it was the best starter he had ever had! He had the sausages and mash and I had the chicken, Leek and bacon pie. This was perfect comfort food for a chilly winters evening and the portions were very generous too. The food was great quality, tasty and just what you want from a good old fashioned pub. We hadn't been to the Roseland Inn for years but we will be back very soon. Thank you for a lovely evening.

It’s reassuring to know that genuinely good traditional English pubs still exist. Every year we come to stay in Cornwall for a couple of months and we always visit the Roseland Inn in Philleigh. It’s changed hands over the years but the current management have great friendly staff on duty, good drink including Becks Blue for NAB fans and a marvellous Sunday lunch. Roast beef, tremendous roast potatoes, Yorkshire and rich gravy plus well prepared veggies for 12 pounds. Make sure you book.

I have visited this delightful country inn for over forty years so you can see I must be impressed. Most recently this year the food was good and imaginative without being overpriced,as so many are on the Roseland Peninsula. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
