Very disappointing - partner and I with our little one cam out for breakfast and cake. Arrived around 10ish. We’re not greeted despite our clear confusion with the new and unclear set up. The new set up has created a self service style arrangement which is clearly designed as one way - but cleaning materials left out lead us to believe we should be avoiding the area. No utensils were left out to serve, and no space to place the tray so I had to carry a loaded tray, serve using utensils from another food stuff we had appropriated. When it came to paying, I had to remind them to give me cutlery and tissues. 2 scones, a flavourless piece of cake, two small coffees and a children’s juice can to just shy of £25. Such a shame - used to be a real treat, but as other have commented, hilliers have ruined what was a fine institution.

Long (standing) wait of 15 minutes to get to the till to be served. When food did arrive, two of the orders were wrong. We reported this to staff, who didn't seem to even realise that we had ordered was on the menu. After a further wait, it transpired that our actual order still hadn't been put through. When it did actually arrive, it still wasn't what was described on the menu, and wasn't tasty and barely edible. Very disappointing. Hilliers have ruined the restaurant here - it used to be so good!

The restaurant here used to be great when it was Rosebourne, but has gone downhill since Hilliers took over. In particular vegans are very poorly catered for with not a single breakfast or brunch option. I would have brought my grandson for breakfast with Santa but there wouldn't have been anything I could eat. If you find yourself feeling peckist in Aldermaston, try the Tea Rooms instead.

Rosebourne has really really gone downhill since Hillier took over. The restaurant used to be great - now it’s dirty and the service is poor. Today we popped in, waited 10 minutes for a table (without even being acknowledged by staff) and when we sat down and went to order, we were told they weren’t serving food between 11.30 and 12 (another 20 mins - a long time to wait with a hungry toddler!) nobody mentioned that while we were waiting /being seated. We had to leave. The rest of the shop was just as bad - toilets were disgustingly filthy, nobody serving on the deli counter and no meat in the fridges. A real shame as we are local and used to visit at least weekly.

Popped in for cake and a drink. We had a very long wait as sadly they lost our food order......however this is example of amazing customer service... Victoria held her hands up and said a mistake had been made and turned a negative experience into a positive. The cakes were pretty amazing too.

Really lovely host on today did an amazing job of explaining the new ordering system to us and showed us straight to our table. I went up to the till to order instead of the app and got told that no swaps were available (mushroom for hash brown) so ended up getting a side of hash brown. I returned back to the table and dinks came soon after. Shortly followed by food. When my food arrived I got told I would have to wait for the toast which was fine. By the time my toast had arrived my partner had already got half way through his food and I had already eaten a good part of mine! Cutlery got brought over with the food it was not polished and looked dusty. No napkins were given. I asked for two napkins and ketchup to be brought over. She brought over the napkins and told me that they had ran out of ketchup. I then asked her for more butter. Which she promptly brought over. There was no comment saying “enjoy your meal is there anything else I can get you” in fact the waitress wanted to leave our table as soon as she possibly could to get back to standing around doing nothing. There was no check back to see how the food was and once we had finished no one came to clear out table. Yet there were loads of staff stood around the restaurant not doing anything. The food was ok however the hash browns were a little chewy and my partners eggs benedict was swamped in the hollandaise sauce this overpower the beautifully cooked eggs. Over all good food but really bad service and won’t be going back there in a hurry!

My wife and I shared a Ham & Cheddar sandwich with apricot & ginger chutney. Served with home-style fries and slaw £8.95. Two cups of tea or rather cardboard tumblers @ £2.55 per cup. Total bill £14.05. Bread was thick sliced & dry with insufficient butter & chutney making it disappointing. Fries not bad, had better, slaw great but only a tablespoon of it. Tea great but the disposable cardboard receptacle to drink it from was terrible. Service excellent, the app to order was excellent but we were there primarily for some good food which didn't happen.I wouldn't recommend or return.

We returned to Rosebourne on 14 th April, as they had some outside dining area. The experience was disappointing, as they served the food in take away polystyrene boxes and plastic cups and for the same price as their normal service. Not sure why they are using take away items, if I had know that before I wouldn't of visited today.

My walkers needed to book tables for eight, for a cuppa before our local walk and lunch afterwards. The team placed us on adjacent tables. They were so helpful. Good cuppa and bacon sandwich. Then a walk. Back for lunch, same tables. Great choice of delicious food, generous portions, good quality. Very attentive staff, especially Gary and Imogen. Everything about our visit to this garden centre was excellent. Very easy to park and everything was so well laid out and arranged. Everywhere was spacious and uncrowded and there were signs of efficient organisation and management everywhere. We much enjoyed wandering around the food hall and plant areas and had a wonderful lunch. Management's safety arrangements were just right and could not be faulted. All our dishes in the restaurant were very good indeed, quickly and efficiently served by friendly waitresses and waiters. Although I didn't feel comforable being asked to add a tip for service when I ordered, I went back after our meal to contribute a well earned tip afterwards.

We visited Rosebourne this afternoon to take our parents out for the first time since March. Naturally they were a little anxious as they didn't know what to expect. We had booked a table for 3.00pm in the restaurant so they could enjoy coffee and cake. When we were seated I told the waitress that this was our parents first trip out. She told us she would give us a lovely comfortable table and sat us on table 6. It was lovely and a wonderful thing for her to do. Our coffee and scones were served promptly and enjoyed by us all. As our parents had vouchers to spend they then proceeded to the butchery dept and once again was treated so well by the lovely man behind the counter. All in all a lovely afternoon out for us all. They will be back. They still have vouchers to spend!! Thanks to all your lovely team. You are all amazing.

We've been to Rosebourne Garden Centre for lunch several times. Sometimes its excellent other times it's pleasant but not wow as in the last visit when we felt rushed. Our tea was Luke warm and so too was my Jacket Potato. The topping of crab and prawns in dressing was delicious but the side salad was scant and drooping. My friends wrap did not have enough filling and there were far too many chips which were not piping hot. After we tried another cup of tea it was still Luke warm. We had a portion of Victoria sponge which looked good but it was dry overly sweet and not freshly baked. So disappointed this visit but will still go back. Other choices whizzed by our table and they did look good. This is an expensive garden centre unfortunately there was little on display and sadly not a lot of flowers buy hey it is Winter after all.

Our ginormous cheese scones arrived but our cappuccinos were in a queue (you were very busy today!) so she offered us some water to tide us over until our drinks arrived which we thought kind of her. Thought we would try the Rosebourne for a second time to meet a friend and have lunch and it is the second time I have had to send my meal back as not described on the menu. Each time when highlighted that there were ingredients on my plate not in the description of the food; first time there was cheese in the chicken and bacon wrap and today peppers in the described 'mixed leaf salad'. Each time looked down at as if it was my fault - perhaps it is my fault I don’t like cheese or peppers - but that's why I check a menu and expect to get what is described on the menu, a mixed leaf salad is exactly that, mixed leaf. I was simply told well it’s all made in a big bowl and mixed up. Then all they did was take it back to the kitchen and dig the peppers out - not the solution, and then what was left was about 10 leaves still tasting of peppers and what appeared to be a teaspoon size of coleslaw along with a warm soggy jacket potato and a tasteless coronation chicken filling. From here it then appeared we were 'over looked' as sat with empty plates in front of us for 10 minutes before they were cleared, not once we were asked if everything was ok and as soon as they cleared the plates we asked or the bill. My friend and I both agreed we would not be eating there again.

Went here with family including a two year old, very busy and had to wait for a table but was organised very efficiently by staff. My wife had enormous bowl of soup, my daughter had a good salad, her partner and I had the double burger which had a tomato relish which was very strong and left an aftertaste for the rest of the day, my granddaughter had the bacon and cheese toasted sandwich which was very light on filling. However not bad but not brilliant, the thing that stands out is the efficiency of the staff (although certain male staff who are very quick and almost run need teaching how to serve without reaching across people) and speed that the food comes from the kitchen.

We visited during national afternoon tea week, when Rosebourne were offering two free complementary glasses of Prosecco (presumably to also attract customers during the quieter August period). We have generally found the service to be a little hit and miss here on our visits since the store opened in October last year. This occasion proved to be no exception. Our order was taken quickly and we said we would like the afternoon tea with the Prosecco (rather than the orange juice alternative). Two well filled glasses (175ml each) arrived quickly, there was a bit of a wait for the food, which wasn’t a problem but then no tea. To cut a long story short, the waitress did not put the tea order through on her electronic device because she thought the Prosecco was being offered as an alternative to tea! We did then get the tea eventually (and thankfully weren’t charged additionally for it).

Ordered a coffee cake and the portion size was massive, with a coffee. However most of the coffee had been spilt into the saucer. So mentioned this to the server and she poured the coffee from the saucer back into the cup. Not what I was expecting...

In the end we decided to have a toasted sandwich, both were fine but the chips that accompanied them were luke warm and really not very tasty. Inexpensive at £16 for the two of us but we wouldn’t bother to eat here again.

A first visit for some plants and stayed for lunch. Amazing garden centre and food shop, hard to resist! Good selection of plants and we'll stocked, and staff around to ask too for help. Lovely lunch and good service. I too would like a cheaper children's drink than £3, more than our coffees! Sure you can do that. Will definitely be calling in again.

This is our first day of our holiday on the Kennet and Avon canal and it’s raining! So we went to Rosebourne’s for breakfast and to wait for the rain to stop, and it was delicious!

We have been to Rosebourne several times for lunch over the past few months as my mother in law is in a care home nearby. What can I say? The food is superb and the service is second to none. I have watched with interest the efficiency demonstrated by Sophie the Restaurant manager and I just wish I had staff as efficient and as effective as her. The way she carefully manages her staff and keeps eveything running is simply brilliant. She is an absolute asset to Rosebourne.

very disappointing, and have to say the scones were hard and dry, although sold as fruit scones there were only too pieces in each scone.

Visited here recently for lunch. There were three of us and our choices ranged from a steak ciabatta, to a fish platter, and ham, egg and chips. All dishes were very tasty and if appropriate nice and hot. My sister and I had one of the sharer pudding platters. The quality of food on it was very good and it was great value for money. The restaurant is table service and it did get very busy around peak lunchtime but everything seemed under control and waiting times to receive our food etc were all fine. We all enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.

Lovely cakes and a great selection, along with really good coffee and hot chocolates! The service was very good and the staff are really friendly. Like that they use local suppliers and that you can buy their stuff in the shop too to take home

Another visit for a 'Light Lunch' and a similar experience to our last visit. On the plus side the ham , egg and chips were of good quality but the grilled 'Italian' chicken focaccia sandwich was about as Italian as a Cornish pasty. It lacked in flavour and the chicken filling was extremely bland.

Rosebourne is advertised as a garden centre, it is not. It is a rather good restaurant with garden centre attached. It appears that the seating area has been expanded to accommodate a regular and happy clientelle. We shall return. Soon.

First visit to this garden centre. There was a great restaurant with a good choice on the menu. Prices for a sandwich seemed expensive but came with salad and chips. The cake selection was obscene!!! Huge pieces and yummy. Plant selection varied, some if not seen at other garden centres. Prices reasonable as well. Well worth a visit.

Had a very enjoyable afternoon tea here, decaffeinated tea is available plus a gluten free option. The only criticism would be that the scones were a bit dry and the chocolate tart was too rich for even a chocoholic like myself!

Arrived, very quickly seen too and shown to a table. Then it all went down hill sat for about 20 mins with no one coming over to us to take our order so had to grab someone’s attention. Ordered afternoon tea with one request to change the Grated cheese, tomato concasse & spring onions bound with mayonnaise sandwich for the cheese and tomato sandwich (On vegetarian option, even though they are both vegetarian) The waiter didn’t believe this to be a problem but as it had to put through phone point of sale system he had to go to his manager to aid him putting it in, he then returned saying that it’s all okay.

Most - all? - of the reviews here are about the restaurant, but there's far more to Rosebourne at Aldermaston than that. However I can't find any TripAdvisor reviews for its other aspects: food hall, gift department, garden centre.

Great lunch at Rosebourne. Staff very helpful. Had great service today. Baked potatoes with prawns lovely, coronation chicken was nice but could have done with a little more flavouring. Finished with lemon meringue and coffee. Cream teas looked amazing as they passed by us. Lively atmosphere and always busy. Will definitely go back to eat. It’s a great place for a Sunday visit!!

We were in the area and had an hour or so to spare at lunchtime, so visited for lunch and a wander around. We found it all very average. Nothing in the garden centre or gift department that you can’t buy elsewhere. The restaurant food and service was acceptable but nothing special. A lot of staff chatting amongst themselves. All in all it was no different to any other garden centre.

Excellent place very clean lovely staff nothing was too much bother for them service was very good and so was the meal we had, mine was a lovely breakfast wrap with chips my husband had a small breakfast cooked and served to perfection a big thank you to the chef and of course the wonderful staff especially the kind waitress who very kindly opened the disabled toilet for me. We had not been to Newbury for while but we will be certainly making another visit, and of course making another visit to The Hatchet Inn.

An English village pub in a pretty village, serving fresh tasty food, where you can sit outside on a warm summer's evening or enjoy the comfort of the bar and restaurant. Hubby ordered skate, which came with a decent amount of potatoes and veg, I ordered the Rendang beef curry, the meat was tender and the flavour fabulous. Compared with other pubs in the area the food is reasonably priced. We sat at the window table overlooking the front of the pub, where there was an array of interesting books to ponder over while waiting for our food. A nice touch. BBQ food was on offer outside the pub, which was popular and looked good. We would happily go there again.
