Decent atmosphere and friendly service but, and it’s a big but, my Belly Pork was probably the toughest, most disagreeable piece of meat I have ever been served in any restaurant anywhere in the world. I won’t be returning.

My husband and I went here on Saturday night for a meal. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Excellent communication at all times during our visit. The food was excellent, cooked to our liking and taste, well presented. We are planning to return very soon. Can highly recommend The Rose and Crown.

Many ‘locals’ can be unwelcoming places for outsiders, but not the Rose and Crown in Zouch. We chatted and joked with the bar staff about their Halloween Cocktails (two for £4) and the locals were equally welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was empty, so we sat in the bar to eat and our expectations were low, especially as we ordered the ‘two meals for £14’ deal. However, we were pleasantly surprised when the food arrived and even more so when we tasted the home cooked pie of the day! The portions were generous and the fresh veg (ordered separately) were nicely cooked. The chips were superb; chunky, light and crispy. The chef came out to socialise later and his comment ‘I cook food that I would like to eat’ summed up the evening. A great little ‘local’ for non-locals.

Great service. Visited with the Beeston U3A short walkers, Clive offered us great service as they had to serve 14 of us at one time although we had pre ordered. The service was good and the food excellent all having a different meal and no complaints from anyone. The meals were more than adequate and at great prices. There was a choice of beers several on draught as well as ciders . All round a great pub and great service Well done Clive and his great Chef.

If you haven't visited this pub lately, it's worth re visiting The pub has been refurbished and it's very welcoming and lends itself to walkers and diners alike The large bar area has a beautiful double sided log burner The restaurant is now more open although still cosy The bar is completely different What makes this pub is the food and staff Great value and local food, freshly cooked and fantastic offers Staff are welcoming, friendly and courteous They serve great hearty breakfasts, a range of bar meals, various evening meals and amazing Sunday dinners This pub opens early for breakfast and thus tends to close about 9pm ish - but check with the staff especially in the weekdays Well worth popping in!

I have visited the Rose & Crown twice now, in a group, and both times the food was delicious and you couldn’t fault the service either. The Rose & Crown sits on the canal and outdoor seating is available. A busy place with a constant flow of people but never appears to be over crowded. We visited on a Sunday and so opted for the carvary. A choice of meats available, you can pick your favorite or try them all. Served with homemade roast potatoes, roast parsnips, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. BOWLS of delicious fresh veg is bought to the table and more available if you need or want, same with the boats of gravy. The food is fresh and hot!!! Pudding menu available with a varied selection of hot or cold pud puds. Very very delicious too!!! On both occasions I left with a belly full of hearty, delicious grub! In my opinion it is well worth a visit. The staff are friendly and the pub itself has a good, warm atmosphere. I know we will definitely be visiting again.

Friendly helpful staff. Certainly worth a detour off A42 or M1. A relaxing stop off good prices. Nice surroundings. Good breakfast too.

After a long drive back home after a nice family weekend away, we stopped off for a rest bite and to freshen up. Upon entry asked the bar maid if we could use the lavatory, was told yes, and was helpfully pointed in the right direction. Upon returning however my old and disabled mother was set up on, what could only be described as an awful, spiteful, vicious bar prop, who thought it right to treat passer bys in the most awful and disgusting manner. Which is a shame, as we WAS going to stop for a hot drink potentially. But after the most rude women I've ever come across had verbally ASSULTED, us, only to also be Proved wrong by the bar maid about her VILE attack, we thought best of staying on, and just carried on home. Truly awful despicable customers ruining what was hoped to be a nice stop off, wouldn't recommend any outsiders stopping off her, seems to be expected that it's a "local pub, for local people".

Slow service. Get another coffee machine. 4.70 for a mocha is a bit ridiculous too. Was given a Regular instead of large too. Nice staff probably had a long day to be fair

Drinks were barely warm, syrup and clumps of chocolate powder at the bottom of the cup that hadn’t been mixed. Tried to charge us for 2 large drinks (drinks had already been made and handed to worker in a medium cup)

No food at the moment, could be a fantastic pub and venue, just needs the right person in there to build the traction. Beer was good though, and it's an incredible building!
