We recently went in for a coffee and bacon bap. The bacon bap was the worse I had ever had, there was limited bacon which didn’t taste to good and then the roll wasn’t crunchy.

The old lady at the counter is so rude. The food is expensive for what it is. Overall service is really bad. Staffs are not freindly especially the older lady with short hair that works there.

Food cold and just awful very expensive. RAW MUSHROOM RAW TOMATO cheap beans 1 spicy sausage too hot to eat , thin ham microwaved not bacon .just vile .

Food was cold , Said full English breakfast, it wasn't . We got a chopped up raw mushroom ,half an uncooked tomato actually cold cheap cold beans one spicy sausage too spicy to eat , microwaved thin ham not bacon a poached egg and toast the only bits we could eat . Tea wasn't normal tea bags took ages to stew and was cold by the time it was tea colour . Cost us £27 . Never again . Trying too hard to be posh but it doesn't work .

Don’t take orders on just eat if your going to make people wait and then cancel their order.

This place really depends when you go. It's often full with students working and you can't get in or like today it was empty. Service was ok but slow. Drinks were good. Lemon muffin was terrible really dry and seemed old. We are off elsewhere after today

Really great atmosphere, so far only tried the coffee and pastries. Which are delicious! Loking forward to trying their breakfast next.

Drinks are good, usually clogged with students in laptops in the week but that’s not always a bad thing for a more lively atmosphere! The food however is poor, do not buy the chicken waffles - it’s two sugar waffles and two bits of southern fried chicken with cold syrup and chive on top. Never again! It was pretty awful.

Modern but cozy with good service

I should have paid more attention to previous reviews but I focused on the aesthetic of the Café and I was happy it is a local Cafe and not a chain. Utterly disappointed with the whole experience. We had: Decaf ice latte: the drink was so pale there was barely any coffee. Flat white: average Waffle with smoked salmon, cream cheese and chives: the waffle arrived cold, not made to order (not difficult to do a waffle mix and use it when ordered) there was barely any salmon and the cream cheese was just too sproportional to the rest. Vegan full breakfast: potatoes were average, spinach raw, mushroom raw which was shocking, 2 half slides of toasted bread, beans warm and a good portion same with the mashed avocado. For 25£ in a cafe you'd definitely expect more.

I was just refused service because “there were no tables available” to even order a latte. Today being especially cold and wet outside. The staff both ladies made me to feel very unwelcomed. Add that the do not enter list. Sad.

Only good thing about this place was the kind staff. Full English breakfast had cold beans, luke warm bacon, overcooked scrambled eggs, “toast” which was quite warm bread and mushrooms which may as we have been still in the ground. Will not be returning!

Came here for a second time, it's a nice place but I like my coffee a teeny bit stronger but the options for food and things there are really good

Drinks are amazing especially the coffee and milkshakes. Must try the kofta, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.

Young staff was very rude and I used to go to this shop everyday when I worked In Loughborough and all the staff was so nice and polite to me it was a Friday I came in just stared at me and said do you even know what you want defo should sack them two

Very pricey, especially thin sliced cakes. Coffee is quite good. There were students studying at bigger tables all spread out who didn't purchase drinks and the paying customers had to sit at less convenient tables. Staff is untrained and doesn't interact with you when serving you, they just stand there and almost feel weird for ordering anything because they are not trained to say things like 'thank you, will that be all, and 'enjoy'. I won't be back, plenty of other places to spend hard earned money

Friendly service and better coffee than either Costa or Cafe Nero, in my opinion. The whole place was spotlessly clean, including the toilets, so 👏👏👏 the cleaning staff. I had an Americano and a slice of lemon and blueberry cake, which I very much enjoyed.

We came for brunch and the service was terrible (the staff are lovely and friendly) but they got our order wrong twice. We realised at first and went back to add a third breakfast to our order (there were 3 of us…) and they rectified it, or so we thought. They then only brought out 2 meals. I made the point that we had already tried to sort the order. They did apologise and brought me a free iced latte. One of the other meals had cold beans which we had to send back, and finally there was no toilet tissue in the ladies toilets. I doubt we’ll be back soon, which is disappointing.

As a final year student in 2022/23, Esquires Coffee had become one of my regular spots to meet up with friends or get some studying done. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect place for students to sit, chat, and be productive. The staff are incredibly friendly, on busy days when space is tight, they're happy to clear or add tables to accommodate everyone. The baristas whip up great coffee drinks like lattes, and flat whites using quality beans. I also appreciate the small touches like complimentary carafes of water for students working away. Beyond the drinks, Esquires offers a nice selection of baked goods, sandwiches, soups and snacks at reasonable prices. Free reliable WiFi and abundant power outlets make it easy to get plugged in and get work done. As a place to socialize, study, or just take a coffee break, Esquires Coffee in Loughborough has become an essential spot for me as a final year student. For its warm, welcoming vibe and great service!

I was extremely disappointed with the breakfast I had, for the price it was ridiculous. I visited on Wednesday 12th July 2023. I chose the vegan breakfast. The sausages were clearly microwaved and tough. The beans were also microwaved. The mushrooms were tragic, possibly microwaved as they were dehydrated. The 'hash browns' were essentially tater tots I wouldn't even give to my child. The only thing that went in the right direction was the avocado, but I guess it's hard to get that wrong! Picture for note. Certainly felt very ripped off for £10! The staff were pleasant and the seating comfortable with clean toilet facilities. So it could have been a really lovely experience had any effort been put into the food. I do hope they improve.

Nice coffee shop. Difficult to get a seat at times. Full of students making the use of the free WiFi, electricity and heating.

Staff were expressionless and not very welcoming. Half my order was forgotten, ordered smashed avo on toast, got it with tomato on top that wasn't stated on the menu. The beef sausages were so spicy they couldn't be eaten, this was also not marked on the menu, and the hash brown you will get is five little bites barely worth it.

Vegan all day breakfast great, excellent size and flavours

Such a lovely cafe with a nice environment, however every time I've been in I've experienced feeling like a burden to the staff, who seem more interested in chatting with each other than providing good customer service. Lovely food, although overpriced for a predominantly student cafe, but a great space for studying, just needs a bit of work on customer service.

The food was not up to standard and very disappointing. Drinks were nice but overall not worth the money, I would not recommend.

Really mediocre and certainly won't be back. It was really expensive for what we got, £22 for a smoothie, coffee, and two really sparse avocado on toast. Didn't have any plates or cups, I assume their dishwasher was broken so not too big a deal. They gave me a table number but then just shouted my order and did this multiple times rather than just take it over to me when there were four of them standing around chatting. The one good thing was the interior is nicely decorated but the music brought down the atmosphere. Overall really disappointed and just wished I'd gone elsewhere 👎

Visiting Loughborough for a house clearance and needed some decent hot food. Delicious jacket potato and toastie delivered really quickly. Super service, absolutely top marks!!

I have had coffee twice from this cafe and it has been consistently hot and tasty. However, when ordering a sausage roll, I was informed that they don't sell pork as they are Halal! I have no objection to vegetarian food or at a push, vegan but I draw the line at halal. Apart from the mistaken belief that pork is unclean, there can be no excuse or justification for substituting a "prayer" to an imaginary entity, instead of stunning an animal before slitting it's throat and letting it bleed to death until it loses consciousness and eventually dies, all in the name of "religion"! Needless to say I shall not be darkening their door again. Please note that I have given 5 stars for the coffee alone.

Really nice relaxed coffee shop. Good selection of drinks from coffee to flavoured summer drinks with fruit, good range of food as well. Slightly more expensive than a Costa but definitely a step or in quality.

Went Friday afternoon, not too busy, just had coffee, nice coffee, nice atmosphere.

Very disappointing! The food and drinks are unfortunately very bad. I had soggy pancakes with microwaved frozen berries which were disaster. The breakfast items are tasteless and drinks are overly sugary and bad while coffee is mediocre. The good things about this place are the ambiance, cleanliness and (one) friendly staff. However, this is a coffee shop and it should be able to provide fresh food, more variety and proper hand cooked hot food! Please take this as a constructive criticism and improve your food and drinks as this might cause you going out of business sooner or later. This coffee shop needs a proper cook and barista!! as currently the food and drinks are very very bad :(

I've been to this location a few times and each and every time have been wowed by the staff, the service and the food. The presentation has always been on point and if it wasn't enough to have amazing presentation the food itself is astounding. Highly recommended this location to eat at or even just as some study time as a student. They also offer a student discount which makes it a rather affordable place for students 😁

Staff were excellent - very welcoming and friendly. But that's where the good all but stops, unfortunately. We had three breakfasts - 1 - a "full" english ... complete misnomer as there was one tiny spicy sausage and the bacon was closer to fried luncheon meat. 2 very thin "rashers". Toast was barely cooked hovis. One half of a grilled tomato and some uncooked chunks of mushroom. Eggs and beans were okay. £9.95 ... 2 - a Little breakfast ... not joking! Similar tiny spicy sausage, baked beans and a poached egg ... no toast even. £4.95. 3 - Waffle - good but small and £7 .. Fresh orange juice was £4.20 ... Compared to exactly the same order in a seaside cafe in Littlehampton a couple of weeks before ... big portions and total price of £15.95 Well, frankly, no comparison. Rip off - will not be returning.

I really love this place coffee is amazing I have to give 2 stars because of the lady her name is Racheal he is so rude always ignoring me and today when I want to set she shouted we still using this chair I assume she want it for her friend. All the girls working there amazing except this old lady seriously she is scary.

Would like to say carol and the team here are first class with there service and way they deal with all customers the same. A warm happy smile awaits all who come through the door, I've yet to try the food but can see it looks first class and amazing no wounder why i keep coming back for the coffees here with the service that makes u not feel like a customer but family of the team.

Nice place but very disrespectful and rude staff

I've started coming in to Esquires more and more recently, as it's just so good! The chickpea sausage roll is to die for- not for animals to die for though- as it's vegan friendly! I love the milkshakes, and the freshly squeezed orange juice too- the staff are super friendly and have confidence in their products- you can tell that they know their venue is good! Great spot for lunch, and dates- just don't be “one of those” and sit in there on your laptop all day, unless you continue to regularly buy drinks or food every 20 minutes- a common problem in similar establishments around Loughborough.

Nice quiet place , food presentation is good. However, Staff was with poker face all the time even when serving which made me uncomfortable, also waiter kept coming and ask me for my plate if I was finished, I am a slow eater and enjoy food over conversations . But she came to me three times asking if I was finished to the point where I was fed up and just gave it to her without even finishing it

Unpleasant staff who kicked us out of the cafe for not ordering, despite the fact that we were going to order food, but then they did not let us. They were also rude for staring at us once we were forced out.

I’ve been here before and enjoyed it. Today, 4 of us went to have breakfast and it was full of students sat with a finished drink in front of them. We went back the same day 30 mins later, the same students are still sat there with their empty cups and no food. You are losing money and losing business. When we asked the staff where we’re going to sit given that the same students have been sat there we were met with no suggestions. Funnily enough, as we walked back in the second time, a couple of girls walked out annoyed that there’s no space. Whilst we were speaking to staff, a couple walked in behind us, again left because there’s no space. That’s 8 customers you’ve lost (and that’s just the few minutes we were there) to seat students who have bought their one drink and camped out in the cafe. We’re students too yet we aren’t so inconsiderate that we sit and “study” in a cafe, preventing other people from eating. This is such a poor customer experience, you will be relying on us in the summer, as people who are local to the area, when the students leave for the summer. Shame on you for not having a better process for escorting student OUT after a certain period of time. It’s a cafe not a library.

Where to start, more than just another coffee shop, the staff are absolutely friendly and go out there way to help you, the coffee is great as is all the other drinks they serve, the food is lovely especially the breakfasts, and the cakes are awesome love the place can't fault it. 😀

Excellent coffee served at the right temperature and was a pleasure to drink to the last. In the area there are a number of super eateries but the coffee is burnt, old or dour. Not Esquire! Almond croissant also very nice. Staff friendly and helpful and the room was spotlessly clean. Will be returning.

Lovely environment, great coffee

What a lovely friendly place. Was shattered from being round the fair for a few hours and came across the shop being open with extended opening hours. Asked if they did vegan coffee they reeled all varieties of milk so asked for an oat latte, saw vegan croissant and asked for that too, she asked if I wanted it warmed up oh yes please I said with delight. They even said I could sit and enjoy I didn't take much persuading and told me all about the vegan festive food they were going to as well. I will be back nice, clean, bright and airy place for a cuppa and snack 👍

Decent place for a coffee in Loughborough Town centre. Lots of people seemed to be on laptops, so clearly evidence that it's a good place to go, relax and do some work or browsing...oh and the coffee tastes great too!! 😁

Although looks interesting from the outside the inside does not give the same ambiance. The drinks are nice but are very expensive more so than the the usual Starbucks or Costa, £3.20 for a flat white, £4.50 for a milkshake (+60p for cream) and £3.00 for a slice of raspberry and coconut tart. Probably will not be visiting again.

Lovely atmosphere, great tasting coffee

Limp soggy hash browns that had been pre cooked and microwaved, microwaved scrambled eggs that were rubbery and tasteless. They had run out of bacon, but my hubby said the sausages were ok Won’t be back

The coffee is good and it looks goo but the place was filthy. Food debris on the floor, every table without customers on had dirty cups and plates on. The girl behind the counter cleared one table but never wiped it down after. Esquires you really need to train your staff better

Lovely staff and lots of vegan options for food and drinks which was amazing! Really clean and professional-looking so would be great for a small work meeting. The only negative thing I have to say is that I was disappointed to see the takeaway iced coffee came in plastic. Would love this place even more if they used VegWare or another eco alternative.

Nice coffeeshop in Loughborough with great tasting coffee and a relaxing atmosphere. Full english breakfast could be better however, as for £8 you get 2 cheap streaky bacon strips, 1 overly spiced sausage, 1 hashbrown, 2 small eggs (poached or scrambled), 2 toast slices, 1 mushroom and tomato and half the plate space is taken up with beans. Could do with less beans (maybe in a small pot), and 2 of everything for the price. Will be back for coffee and cake though as they are very nice 👍🏼

The staff are always friendly and they understand how to make the meals easier for kids to eat, so they’ll change the plates etc if you have a smaller kid with you. Great coffee!

Been here 3 times now. Prices are as you would expect from a small coffee shop, the decor is nice and its brighter inside than some coffee shops can be, which is a plus. The Coffee is great and the staff are friendly in here. My new regular coffee shop.
