Lovely food, friendly staff and a happy vibe. We were staying nearby and glad we had booked as the pub was busy. We weren’t disappointed by the food.

We were the interlopers for the night as we don't live in the county, but can't praise this pub and staff enough. Really tasty home cooked food with a great choice and portion size. To top it all, lovely staff, and the quiz night was such fun too. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

We generally order a Sunday lunch every week and the food is consistently excellent, especially the roast meat and potatoes. I think it is great value. The service is always excellent, a warm welcome and attentive staff.

We visited as a family for a Sunday lunch which included a member who is a Celiac and needs Gluten free food. The menu offered choices for Gluten free food. The Sunday roasts were home cooked by the owner Yvonne with a choice of Pork or Beef (other offering of Lamb shank was my choice) with delicious vegetables and gravy. The Sweets menu was extensive and our choice’s were delicious.The food prices offered great value, drinks were fairly priced and the staff were very friendly and efficient. A very enjoyable atmosphere completed a lovely family visit. We are looking forward to a return visit soon.

Excellent food at a reasonable price . I eat out frequently and this to memory was my favourite pub I have visited. We were made so welcome and the service was perfect . Proper pubs are rare nowadays and this place , in my opinion has all the ingredients: great food , good prices , friendly efficient staff and a cosy friendly environment that was lovely and warm on a winter evening . I will definitely return.

Lovely genuine local country pub, unpretentious

Popped in this afternoon as in the area for a Mayday fair. Staff were very accommodating. We had our dog with us so we were popped in the bar. We had lasagnas and apple pies which were tasty. Very well priced. Will definitely be popping back to this dog friendly pub in the future.

Pub on main road, it has a small car park and a small garden. Drinks not very varied and a bit expensive. Staff seem friendly though

Great Sunday lunch, heard a lot about it but never got there untill this week, we sat in the public bar as restaurant booked out but lovely local pub atmosphere and food was first class and good value for money, well worth a visit but if on a Sunday need to book first

Went here for a wake, after my grandmothers funeral. Good selection of alcohol, and the food was nice, staff were friendly too.

We rang on the off chance of a table for lunch and was offered a table in the bar by the window. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Will definitely be returning 👍👍

Today I attended my great uncles wake here. The staff and service was impeccable. It was very busy we packed the pub out. The food looked and tasted wonderful. Thank you to everyone at the Rose and Crown. Would definitely recommend this place. I can't rate it high enough 💜

Lovely pub! We visited on a Saturday evening with our toddler and they were really friendly and helpful, plus great food and beer. Definitely recommend!

An INDEPENDENT pub ( no chain) lovely home cooked Sunday lunches and plenty of other choice. As retro is now the 'in' thing this is genuine retro like pubs used to be before they were wrecked by chains. Visit you won't be disappointed

Friendly staff and lovely food! The staff were really lovely, most seats were reserved but they accommodated us and let us eat in the bar. The food was fantastic. I had the ham egg and chips which was huge and delicious. My partner had the fish and chips. He usually moans about the batter but really enjoyed it. Our 2 year old had the children’s chips and nuggets. She didn’t eat much so they wrapped it up for us to take back to where we were staying! If we are ever passing again we will return to this pub!

A pub with no frills, a pleasant garden and a warm welcome. Have eaten there twice and had a Sunday roast takeaway. Decent choices with smaller size options. The steak pie was voted the best ever and the portions are so big that even the prawn salad had me beaten. The Sunday roast was excellent, again massive, the beef superb quality and the turkey delicious both collected and served on china plates with no request for their return. We shall be back .

Visited this pub whilst on holiday in the area. We happened to, visit on a Tuesday which was "Steak night". Two rump steaks for £22 and they were excellent .Large and perfectly cooked to our liking and plenty of trimmings!Service was efficient and friendly and we were comfortable in the current Covid environment with the protocols in place.

Very friendly service and hearty portions of home cooked food with very reasonable prices. The lounge was booked so we ate in the bar area. The locals and staff were very friendly, we would definitely go back again.

Four of us came here for Sunday lunch. We all agreed the best Sunday lunch we have ever eaten out(can’t say it’s the best ever, wife would kill me!). Veg was perfectly cooked, potatoes delicious. To top it all, a great pint of Doom Bar. Would recommend and will certainly be back..

Very clean toilets and clear signage everywhere. The food was exactly as ordered. Very good, as was my pint of cider. The staff were very cheerful and helpful, which always makes me feel relaxed. All in all a pleasent experience.

We orderd a couple of days before and chose a time slot. On time, as we pulled up, Yvonne was waiting at a clean, partioned table with our ready plated meals and gravy all piping hot. On home arrival we removed the foil to discover a massive plate of the most beautifully prepared veg mix ( 5 different), meat and yorkie, The meat was a very generous portion enough for two and everything was clearly freshly prepared. The price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity so this is an affordable treat to give Mum/Dad a Sunday off. Please try this and support our local businesses in these terrible times for our pubs and restaurants to make sure we don't loose them.

Collected two take out Sunday lunches. Perfect treat. Wonderful roasties, excellent roast beef and well cooked tasty fresh veg. Very plentiful portions. Great value. Look forward to getting back to normality and being able to sit in again but in the meantime this was a nice alternative!

Delighted to find a real traditional pub with a landlady who has been there for 28 years! Real ale too. Great homemade food; the vegetarian lasagne was one of the best I’ve ever had. The other 3 in our party also thoroughly enjoyed their food. Traditional desserts capped off our dinner. Friendly customers added to our experience. Would definitely recommend.

Had a family get together last night at the Rose and Crown, lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff & fabulous home made food, the ham & stilton pasty was excellent, lemon cheesecake heavenly. Couldn't fault it, thank you all, see you again soon.

A group of mates get together once a month for a pub meal, a couple of beers and a good chat. This month we chose the Rose and Crown and were very please with the outcome. The beer was well kept, particularly enjoyed the Trelawney and the Hillclimb. The menu was varied and well priced with a good selection of Specials. I had a good Rump steak which was cooked properly and well presented. Others had a variety of pies and fish and some even fitted in some very generously proportioned puddings.In short, good beer, traditional, well priced pub food and friendly and welcoming staff. A good night was had.

Visited here for a few drinks what a great venue with polite staff and a very pleasant bunch of people frequenting this pub. We should have eaten here but opted for the Indian down the road as the pub was closed when we went for food. What a big mistake as the food looked absolutely fabulous.Well done keep up the good work.John.

We have passed this place many times and finally decided to book for Sunday lunch, very friendly staff and a good selection of food from the traditional roast to fabulous homemade pies to wonderful quiche, the food is plentiful and and extremely tasty and excellent value, you need to book for a Sunday lunch time, but it’s well worth it I assure you, thanks for very pleasant time

We walked in hoping to get food and although they were fully booked they were more than happy to accommodate us. The service was quick and all the staff were very friendly. The food was very good pub grub and extremely good value for money. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely pop in for another meal.

Visited for lunch with friends on May Bank Holiday. Despite living fairly locally have not been here before. I was so impressed with the quality of the food. Great and varied menu and lovely friendly service. I went for the Moussaka and it was just fantastic. Clearly home made and as good as my own! Served with salad and lovely garlic bread. Fish and chips and Scampi also lovely. I would definitely go back just for the Moussaka. High recommend this pub
