I dined hear last night. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a young lady with a fantastic attitude and a smile to match. I ordered the Thai green curry and a beer. I was warned that the curry would be spicy—one of the spiciest dishes on the menu. And it certainly was! But it was also absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant as a must-visit when in Oxford. — G.B.

The service was pitiful, it took 30 minutes to get starters after taking 20 minutes to order. After the starter it took 30 minutes to get the main course, finally 25 minutes to get the bill. Throughout the whole experience no staff checked on us even to order additional drinks. The food was tasty although cold and the chef needs a new knife, the beef Massaman curry had huge lumps of potato and beef which meant that it cooked unevenly to start but quite how you are supposed to eat it with chop sticks is any one’s guess. We won’t be returning there are far better Thai restaurants in Oxford with far better service.

Ok, so we booked as we were off to the Theatre (which is a few steps across the road). Arrived on time at 6PM, took a while to get sat and we were there because our friends had been before pre-theatre on the pre-theatre dinner menu. The offer, quite reasonable-choce of starter, Main course and a drink. When we came to order the Manager explained there would be no beer offer available as they had run out of stock. We said, no worries, we would have draft beer instead, this 'couldn't be done' as he was not able to manipulate the system so there was no beer available-unless we paid for it! Now on the menu, the bottles of beer we valued at £5.60, so this we were simply going to lose if we didn't want wine or a soft drink. We simply ordered 1 x wine per person and gave our wine to the ladies, then ordered our beer seperately. But this needs looking at HEAD OFFICE-it happened to all the tables around us-so why not knock £5.60 off our bill OR Put the £5.60 as a discount against our purchased beer? The Manager was flat out, to be fair, as he was having to explain this to every customer, and there were many that were annoyed and complaining. Our drinks arrived and our starters (Pork Satay's and Spring rolls) arrived but not until half an hour later. But very good starters! At 7PM we were beginning to panic-the table next-door had shrewdly manipulted the times of food arriving, so they got their starters with their main courses just after our starters had arrived- At 7;05, we asked of the waitress could we please have our food as our Theatre time was now looming, but by 7;10 we had still not received our Mains, so we called the Manager over to say that we wouldn't now have the time to eat our mains comfortably, and could they please take the mains and make them takeaway's for collection after the show. So this was arranged, the Manager was still very busy and we left our main-courses in take-away bag on the bar to get to the 7;30PM show by about 7;20PM. Guys, I know you were busy and I'm not here trying to slag everything off, but this was very poor all-round and gave us unneccesary tension (and half-full stomaches) on quite an expensive night out. I said to the Manager after to have a word with Management, to which he replied "I am Management"! But I said the staffing and subsequent service were not up to scatch. He couldn't have been more helpful, given the circumstances, but was definitely on the back foot a s soon as we walked in with the "No Beer" issue. Had the Chicken Pad Thai for dinner at home last night which was OK. Not Cushdie! Not Pukka! Maybe next time?

It’s a place with a nice cosy atmosphere and very friendly service. Our waitress Aleks from Poland was very polite and understanding to all our needs and has a sweet personality. Food took a bit long , because they had a big table at the back with a lot of orders. That would be nice to know in advance, but Aleks found out when the food will be ready for us and made sure we were good and set. Thank you very much Aleks!

Horrible servicio, esperó casi una hora para el plato principal, 2 comidas eran tibias cuando finalmente llegaron. El orden lateral del arroz se llevó a la mesa y luego tuvo que esperar a que llegara el curry.

Located in Oxford's Ozone Leisure Park, Oxy Oriental is an all-you-can-eat buffet that offers a broad spread of Asian cuisines, including Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, and Indian dishes. It's a popular spot for casual dining, especially for those craving variety under one roof. The restaurant boasts a generous selection of dishes—from dumplings, teriyaki chicken, and sushi to crispy duck and sweet treats—catering to both adventurous eaters and those after more familiar flavours. In the evenings, the live teppanyaki station and sushi bar add a touch of theatre and freshness to the experience. However, food quality can be hit-or-miss. While many enjoy the range and fast turnover (especially at busier times), others have commented that some items feel overly greasy, bland, or of lower quality. The atmosphere is functional rather than fancy—often likened to a canteen or warehouse setting, with dim lighting and basic furnishings. Where Oxy Oriental shines is in its value for money. With lunch priced under £7 and dinner (offering more variety) around £15, it’s an appealing choice for families, groups, or anyone looking for a hearty, budget-friendly meal. That said, whether it’s “worth it” depends on how much you value quantity over quality. Verdict: If you’re after a no-frills, buffet-style Asian meal with plenty of choice and aren’t too fussed about fine dining, Oxy Oriental hits the mark. Just temper your expectations when it comes to quality and ambience.

The waiter was lovely and friendly, the courses were served quickly and to say the food was delicious is an understatement. I lived in China and ever since coming back to England, I haven't been able to find any food that compares to what I had over there, but this has changed that. If you're looking for an authentic Chinese food experience at a restraunt with a diverse menu, welcoming atmosphere and all with affordable prices, this is it.
