Now renamed Woodys. Brand spanking new interior. Runs like clockwork. Be ready for a wait though as everything’s fresh. Staff lovely. Best fish in a long time and absolutely best chips EVER. Fabulous value too. THANKS!

I believe this has been renamed Woody’s fish and chips. If so, the staff were lovely and accommodated for a particularly difficult order. Nice, clean interior. Food was yummy, not too greasy and the chicken strips were great too! All very fresh. Thank you :)

Think it’s been renamed as WOODY’S. Stopped here for lunch, we queued up from the 11.45 waiting for it to open and was worth the wait! Excellent welcoming friendly service and fantastic food! Beautifully fried chips ( the best in recent times for us and far better than our local) and tasty battered sausage. We will go all out next time and get fish. Fully recommend!!

2nd time they let me down by closing 20 minutes early. Have supported them but now have defected to Paul's pie and mash. If you're going to advertise hours stick to them.

Have eaten in there twice since it re-opened. They have a spent time making sure restaurant is Covid safe. Service is good and restaurant is very clean and service is good. However the fish is expensive for what you get. We ordered two large cods but these did not look very big at all. The chips are also quite expensive. The quality of the food is good but I think just to expensive

Perfection ,what a treat after a blustery walk along leysdown beach ,friendly, clean and modern . This fish and chip shop is now called woddy's not ron wood. We had the scampi meal deal and the cod meal deal both with mushy peas and a nice coffee ,both cost £5.50 ,the chips were light and crunchy the fish was fresh and flaky and the batter was golden crunchy ,all in all the best bargain meal we have ever had and the best fish and chips .

We visited this establishment yesterday 25.09.2020 and the food and service was excellent I had Haddock and my wife had cod they were cooked to perfection.

This was the best fish & chips we've had for years. Fish had lovely crispy batter and chips were how I like them not dry but soft with great taste. Would really recommend.

Purchased two large cod and received two portions the size of fish fingers! All batter and no fish! Too far away to return. Sadly there was no flavour at all. Complete rip off!

My husband and I with the dog went to Leysdown for the day and heard so much about the fish and chips so we decided to try it. Well controlled Due to covid 19 and clean. I got a table bench while my husband queued up and a young lad that worked there bought out a bowl of water for the dog lovely thought.Fish and chips omg the best we've had in a long long time. Fish gently feel apart batter perfect and even though my husband not a chip fan he said and I agree the best chips his had super tasty defiantly worth the drive and we've always notice the constant queuing to get in always a good sign of good food. Can't wait to try again.

Will definitely be coming back A+++++We normally go to the other one and have been doing so for years. Yesterday was shut even though there was a long queue we waited the queue went down a lot quicker than we thought. I can honestly say the best Fish and chips I have had in years I can’t even remember when.The fish was mouthwatering, the chips crispy on outside just as they should be. There were eight of us and everyone finished Everything.We normally pop down a few times a year for fish and chips late afternoon as we are only half an hour away

Spacious, nicely furnished, clean fish and chip restaurant in Leysdown on Sea. I always go here when I visit Sheppy as they definitely serve best fish ‘n chips on the Island, if not in the whole of Kent. They serve all the standard fare you would expect but it is the standard of the cooking that it the stand-out. The oil is ALWAYS so fresh even on a quiet winter Monday so the chips which are hot and impeccably cooked and lovely light crispy batter on the fish leave no bad aftertaste. The prices are fair, the tea excellent and the service very friendly.

I have used the Galley Fish and chip shop just across the road from Woodys for some years. Always between September and March. Cod and chips every time, always cooked while I I wait and always superb quality and hot. I drive back onto the marsh with it and it stays hot until I finish eating it. Galley is shut at present, so I used Woodys for the first time in a number of years tonight. Service excellent and with a smile, cod and chips was pre-cooked, but looked really good. Drove with it back onto the marsh as usual, and found it was not hot when I started eating it. Indeed, by the time I finished (I am a fast eater), it was cold. Yuk! If Galley stays shut I may use Woodys one more time and ask if I can have it hot, even if that means waiting while it is all freshly cooked. If not, well, I'll just have to take a flask of soup from home!

Good food in Leysdown will come back again soon but I know they I will and I will let people know so they could come down for that all day enjoy it food

We had fish and chips from here and were very disappointed, found the young girl who served us rude, we ordered 4 kids meals two were meant to have come with beans and didn't we couldn't complain as we had taken them back to our caravan to eat them, I also paid £7.2 for a 10oz cod, which we did not get as it was the same size as my sisters who had the standard piece of cod, again obviously couldn't complain as we had taken back to eat, our food came to £34 so was poor value for money when you don't get what you ordered, shame really as I had looked at the reviews and was looking forward to getting our food from there. There was one lovely lady was cleaning the outside area and tables she was very friendly. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this fish and chip shop

Love Ron Woods, I'm not a great lover of chips but these are the best. Everything is freshly cooked & not too greasy. My daughter is chicken nugget mad & said they were the best. Have to have a cone of chips when down. Staff are helpful & friendly.

A proper fish & chip shop with not a kebab insight. Good prices and also plenty to choose from. The meal deals offer better value for money however. I had a pukka pie, chips, curry sauce and a drink for £5.50. Brilliant value for money and will be returning.

We visited Ron Woods fish and chips today and absolutely loved it!!! The cod was so fresh and cooked beautifully, and the scampi was banging!!! The chips are the best we have tasted!!! Not only is the food exceptional the staff are lovely and friendly too. Can’t wait to go back again this summer!!

I love the delicious food served in this restaurant. Staff couldn't be nicer. Even the queuing is well worth the wait. Varied menu,with something to please everyone.

I'm currently sitting in the restaurant after eating with my service users. Lovely and clean and incredibly friendly staff, food was hot and fresh and well presented in boxes. The batter was light and bubbly and a nice kick to the curry sauce. My service users were treated like human beings and thoroughly enjoyed their food.

Best chippie I’ve been too and great value for money, would 100% recommend and the fact always a queue outside the door tells it all really.

Sure the fish and chips would have been lovely but the place shut early so by 9:20pm they were closed and in Easter school holidays on a Saturday evening too! On holiday here for few more days but won’t bother trying them again - competitor just along the road was open and very nice chips so I would give them a try first.

Good size portions. Short wait, friendly service. The chips were very good and I would use them again if I ever stay in the area.

We decided to take a drive to the coast to blow the cobwebs out. After a very bracing walk on the beach we decided to grab a bite to eat. It looked like they were having some renovations done as there were sheets up covering some of the place and they couldn't offer table service. Despite this the place was immaculately clean. The food one cod, one haddock, battered sausage all with chips and mushy peas were all cooked fresh to order and were absolutely delicious. Service was really friendly and helpful. Will certainly visit again.

Popped in last night for some chips for the family on my way home. Ended up being the best I’ve ever had! If they are consistently like that..... I’ll be blowing the diet out!!

Me and Becky had lunch here yesterday and it was delicious. The only negative is it is served in plastic baskets with that greaseproof paper that doesn’t allow excess fat to go away. The positives, however, more than make up for that one personal preference. The batter on the fish was lovely and crisp, the fish was cooked well and the chips were crisp on the outside, soft inside and had a light colouring.

Just came back after a break on the Isle of Sheppey used Ron's 3 times over the 2 week period . Can honestly say best fish and chips we have had for a very long time and staff were friendly as well

You will smell the food before you realise you have to try the amazing choice at Rons. The fish and chips are out of this world. Will definitely visit again and can t recommend highly enough!

Staff polite and patient, very quick service, food absolutely gorgeous, portion sizes very good and priced very reasonable. Would recommend everyone should try. If you go for lunch you will have to queue up for a bit. Seating is limited. But food is worth the wait. Will definitely return again.

Really nice food! Staff well organised- may have to que up a while for food but I guess you’d expect that as it’s popular - it gets very busy at times. We have taken away and also eaten in before ..... I usually wait until the que goes down a bit - lunch time can be pretty manic .

Went to Leysdown on Wednesday with my son. It is our tradition to have fish and chips here as it was always something i did with my late dad so to have been coming here for over 35 years. It was really busy at lunchtime so we went back at 4pm and was easily able to get a table inside. The food was amazing as always and freshly cooked. The place was lovely and clean and the staff was friendly. My son reckons its the best fish and chips ever and i couldnt agree more. Will be back next year.

I only visit leysdown a few times a year with the gran kids. The fish is consistently superb. Always freshly cooked with a light and crispy batter. The staff are friendly and efficient The pic I'm sure speaks for itself. Can't fault it except I couldn't find any tomatoe sauce lol. Keep it up well done.

we went here last sunday they have a strange ticket system after waiting nearly 40 min we was called up it was not worth the wait and expensive wont be going back

Being a local I always use Rob Woods, yesterday again it didn’t disappoint, good sized cod, chips and mushy peas.

Wanted to eat here on Saturday evening however the queue was out the door. Came back on Monday and sat outside. Chips were very oily and wasn’t that nice. I wouldn’t rush back here.

The staff were very pleasant. There was a fair selection of the usual fish shop food. Very popular as had to queue on more than one occasion. well worth a visit.

We had this place recommended to us. Well worth the recommendation! The food was lovely, the portions were large and it was served quickly. The curry sauce was very tasty too! Would come back to Leysdown just for the fish and chips!

We stayed at Harts caravan park and treated ourselves to fish & Chips, it was very very tasty. In fact the food was so good the four days I walked passed I never once saw it empty, at times people were queing out the door. Great fish & Chips Thank you, will be sure the visit again when we next come back to that area.

Firstly I will say that I have used this place for many years. The foods always been good and still is, although the chip portions seem to have shrunk, not many chips for £1.80.

the food is always tasting great i am a local customer for a reason, the staff are so friendly and polite it is really refreshing coming into a business where you feel welcome. outside seating for hot summer days and based right in the centre of the leysdown strip. i would recommend anyone coming here.

First time at this chippy with the kids. Waited for at least 45 minutes and I can whole heartedly say that it wasn't worth it. My large cod and chips was just thrown in some paper with only a few chips. Batter was crumbly and fish was dry, neither was the cod large. I know that we were one of the last of the evening but it was as if the staff couldn't care less. Don't be fooled into thinking that your long wait will be worth it.

Visited Leysdown for a short trip - we found this chip shop and came back every day! So tasty and good prices. Also loved the boxing memorabilia on the walls

This place is so popular - be prepared to queue! It's worth it though, as it actually has a vegetarian option (Veggie Burger) which was delicious, in a bun with salad and mayo, along with big portion sizes!

Fish & chips were amazing the portions were so big we could not eat it all . 3 of us & we could have just got 2 portions.

A very small piece of tasty skinless fish was disguised with huge batter lumps on each end. A great pity as on looking at it was expect of more. Very nice friendly staff. Who were polite and efficient.

We had fish and chips here for the first time and we also ordered a children's fish and chips and a children's fish fingers and chips. All meals were a good size especially the children's. The fish was lovely and fresh and the batter was light and crispy. I'd definitely recommend this little Jem of a place especially in leysdown.

The pies was microwave because pasty was very hard ! Curry Sauce (NOT chip shop style) !! Chips with to many eyes in them (very poor)

So myself and family ordered food to takeaway yesterday. They asked if we wanted salt and vinegar. I said salt but not on the two kids meals. Well when we got home..... The food was inedible. It was smothered in salt. I realised this before I even tasted the food. My fingers were covered as I transferred food on Yo the plates. Also they had put salt on the kids meals. When I say smothered no one could eat. It all got thrown away. £20 worth of food in the bin. Couldn't return as getting the kids together who were ready for bed and going back wasn't an option. We were disappointed to say the least.

Now i know that leysdown is'nt exactley the costa del sol of kent but due to work i had to spend a couple of nights there. i saw ron woods fish and chip shop and thought that'll do to get something to eat, well dissapointed i certainley wasnt, cod and chips £6.50 and it was probally one of the best fish and chip shops i have been to, sit down or take away so i done take away it was that good i went back the 2nd night and sat in the restaurant had rock and chips £6.50 and that was equally as good as the cod and chips. the whole restaurant is very clean and tidy and mr.woods your staff are 100%, you've got an excellent crew there. Very polite, very helpfull, and all seem very happy working there, as you know any restaurant is only as good as its staff. The portion size was as much as i could eat and i'm a big eater so that was a big bonus for me. the fish was fresh and fryed perfect and the chips were spot on. All in all i cannot fault this place and if i'm back in leysdown again rest assured i will be going back and having again what i consider to be one of the best fish and chip shops i have been to and i reckon probally the best one in kent.

Was thee a month ago with my Mum on a day out. We had a lovely lot of chips and cooked very nicely. No old ones from the night before! She loved them too. Going back this Saturday to have the Fish as well. No complaints. Queue was long and a ticket is given to you to wait. But it was only about 8 minutes. Sooner it fresh anyway

Greasiest chips Ive ever had and pie n mash was the worse I ever tasted felt sick after I wouldn't recommend

A brilliant London Style fish and chip shop, that also serves Pie and Mash. Opted for the Skate and chips cooked to perfection, lovely tasty chips, lovely flavoursome skate, all the meals we had were cooked to perfection with great service. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Went here for lunch with 11 year old daughter and her friends during an improntu beach run in the Easter holidays. People were queuing out the door - which I took as a good sign as there are plenty of other chip type places nearby that were empty. We have 'childrens meal' chicken nuggets and chips, which were, without exageration, the best I have ever eaten anywhere. Perfectly cooked, and although not hugely generous, reasonable enough for a kids £2.50 portion. It was busy so we did have to wait, but we got a cheerful apology for the delay from two of the staff as we left. We will definitely return - posibly even making a special trip if we get hungry enough

My wife and i have been in this chippy twice and on both occasions the title of this review is what i said when i came out the fish was under cooked the portions were small well lets say not very good i see pie and mash is on the menu now Ho Dear

Stop here with my daughter when she was over, the portion size was on the small side and to make it worse a lot of them were black. The seagulls had a nice meal tho.

We were visiting Leysdown last weekend its been 40 years since I was last there. Popped into Ron Woods for some lunch as we were hungry. To be honest I wasn't expecting much, but to my surprise it was fabulous. Food was exactly what we needed. Lovely and hot, chips were amazing and a great cup of green tea. Staff were really nice, and the toilets were amazingly clean, there was a lovey lady cleaning and sweeping the whole time we were there. I hope I can visit again soon!!!

Stopped at the chip shop for cod and chips twice, got served only one fish and chips. We were then blamed for the mistake and given an awful piece of fish. Avoid at all cost.

Visited for a takeaway recently. The chips were very nice but everything else, fish, chicken burger and sausage in batter was of a mediocre quality and standard.

Had sav & chips was nice 👍🏻 Also had onion vinegar and curry sauce. Friends had cod and burgers they said was hot & fresh.

Very nice place! Small but very open with a fairly large TV on the wall and some very impressive boxing memorabilia dotted around! Food was great and was even brought to our table which was a nice touch! The guy who was working that day was good and made sure we were all okay! If your ever in the area it's a must to go grab something to eat :)

Chips were ok, nothing to write home about, tasteless compared with some. Had better! Fish I just couldn't quite put my finger on if they were frozen, or reconstructed. Very wet as you get with frozen fish, no flaking - mushy like a tin of tuna mush. Tasteless too. If you know your fish the markings were not as strong as a fresh fish, pale grey as opposed to charcoal.

I will never buy anything from Ron woods again!! I got me and the kids some chips and they were black. I sent them back disgusting service and disgusting food!! I recommend you walk down to Paul's pie and mash down the road lovely fresh food X X X
