Had a meal at Romney Bay House Restaurant and it was exceptional. A delicious array of canapes awaited, including some red pepper pearls, to accompany our pre-dinner drinks, before we were called into Dinner. A fish course, of sea bass, was our first course, which was moist and tasty, followed by Duck, again, cooked to perfection, next up was a fresh, light pastry fruit tartlet, accompanied by cinnamon ice cream, was next. The final course was a selection of cheeses, all chosen to compliment the meal and not too heavy or overpowering in taste. Coffee (or tea) and Petit fours were then served in the lounge area, to complete the meal perfectly. The service was attentive and all dietary needs were requested at the time of booking, and reiterated before the food began to be served. Highly recommended and we felt very good value, based on the quality and presentation of the meal, which was certainly en par with Michelin Starred and Rosette restaurants, that we have visited.

We have visited this stunning Art Deco hotel on several occasions, both staying and just eating. It seems to get better and better. The ambience and the really wonderful food are outstanding. Lisa, Clinton and Perry all strive to make any visit special, by friendliness, professionalism and coupled with Clinton’s culinary excellence - they certainly achieve it. It is one of our favourite places in Britain to dine.

We ate at the hotel on the last night of our 3 night stay, a wonderful way to finish our short break the restaurant is small, but accordingly intimate; the menu is a no-choice 4 course menu (plus coffee & petit-fours) but at booking details are requested of any dietary issues etc. The food was outstanding, and the Romney Marsh lamb rump was as lovely a tasting piece of lamb as we have eaten in many a long while. Good value for food of this quality service was provided by Lisa (who owns the hotel with chef-husband Clinton) and a local young waiter, both of whom were helpful / polite / provided excellent service. all in all a very enjoyable evening with excellently cooked and extremely tasty food; a definite strong recommendation if in the area - remember to pre-book

I had heard it was good but is was fabulous. Each course beautifully presented with the right quantity and time in between. Friendly staff too. We had our dinner in the conservatory which was lit with candles and warm and cosy.

My first ever visit, despite having lived in the area for more than a decade. I was the guest of old friends who travelled 70 miles to get here. I knew from the moment I entered the front door that a wonderful evening was in store. The drawing room, with its open fire and collection of books, reminded me of a country house. It might have been a perfect location for a murder mystery. Instead, I simply mirdered the wonderful food on offer! Lovingly prepared; beautifully presented; novel combinations of flavours; ingredients as fresh as the air outside. But served with enormous warmth - nothing was too much trouble. The table had been meticulously set and the timing between courses was exactly right. The quality of Clinton's food is unparalleled anywhere on the Marsh, while it would be impossible for anyone to make a stranger more welcome than did Lisa, whose explanation of each course as it arrived was reminiscent of the practice found in top French restaurants. And I don't normally eat desserts but here I demolished the lot - and after a plate of duck and the trimmings that was as good as any I have ever tasted. It was my very first visit; needless to say, it will not be my last!.This is a gastronomic experience - and how!

See my review of the Hotel as this includes a review of the Dinner served as well. What I will say here is - you won't be disappointed! Rump of Romney Marsh lamb was the best lamb I have tasted!

Found the hotel on a site recommending top 10 places in the UK to have afternoon tea by the coast. Service was excellent with fresh scones, strawberries and cream. We had the restaurant to ourselves this afternoon, which was hard to believe, but it was nice being able to hear the sea breaking on the beach opposite. One of Kent's hidden gems.

I organised a surprise lunch party for my wife for 23 people on 20th November 2011 at the Romney Bay Hotel to celebrate her birthday. I found the hotel to be really helpful throughout the process of booking and planning the party. Co-owner Lisa went to a lot of trouble to understand our requirements and made some excellent suggestions for the menu and also to enable the cost to be kept close to my budget. On the day itself, Lisa worked very hard to ensure it all ran smoothly, the service at the table was very good and co-owner Clinton produced a super meal based on local produce with excellent flavours and well presented. We spoke to Clinton afterwards to thank him and he explained his philosophy of dealing with local fisherman to get really fresh Romney Bay caught fish and of his close links with a butcher to get wonderful meat. We had Romney Marsh lamb which was delightful. They worked very hard to ensure we had a memorable celebration and although we did not stay overnight, the public rooms were very comfortable and welcoming and I am sure the Romney Bay Hotel would be a great place to stay.

This venue have missed a trick by not offering a decent range of allergy alternatives, not hard to achieve in this day and age just think outside the box, instead of trying to offer copy cat food offer products which champion the allergy, this would then elevate the overall appeal of the venue.

Best tasting home cooked food I've ever had at a cafe! The man here cooks everything from fresh, he prepares the, bacon and onion puddings and suet puddings by hand, a long process and secret recipe he tells me, as well as other meals he prepares by hand in advance. Pardon the pun, but the proof is in the pudding (steak n kidney my fave), if you want mass produced tastless food, go to the kebab shop or chippy, if you want good food at a good price and something tasty on your palet, the galley is your watering hole!
