Rock Fish And Chips in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Wonderful fish and chips this evening. Lightly battered hake and perfectly done chips. Excellent portion sizes for both. Well worth a visit.

So disappointing. For the second time they missed a couple of items in our order that I paid for but didn’t get. The chips are stuffed like cotton wool into small boxes and the haddock was the most miserable wizened piece of fish I have had at a chippy.

My favourite fish and chips spot in Cornwall. Fantastic chips - rich but not greasy - and a stunning and varied range of fish supplied by local fish legend George Cleave and beautifully prepared by Jack and the team. Plenty of grilled options if you do not like the doughnut fish (amazing description courtesy of my sister-in-law). For the record, I love the doughnut fish! Also, excellent homemade sauces and quality pickles. The freshness of the oil is key to quality, here it is changed regularly with the excess used to power the oil supplier’s vans - a neat arrangement. The clean oil means crisp batter and none of the soapiness. Jack’s commitment to quality makes for a delicious and much less heavy eating experience than at many chippies. Don’t miss this if you are in North Cornwall.

Had fish and chips from here last night was absolutely beautiful. 4 very happy customers especially mum (who is celiac) and was delighted to find somewhere to cater her needs with gluten free batter which is very rare to find from a fish and chip shop! Staff were friendly and efficient and would highly recommend the hake. If you like good portion sizes and fresh quality fish then this place is a must visit on your trip to the Rock area.

Is it even a beach trip without fish and chips. I’m not a massive fish fan but was really craving it so got a kids one to share with my little boy. It was absolutely incredible, the chips were soft and the fish was absolutely crisp and you can tell how fresh it was. The curry sauce was insane!!! Was so tasty just topped off the great food. Staff were very friendly and prices were reasonable (was expecting it to be more)

terrible, food crap, just eaten a meal from here and thrown up. Came to Cornwall on holiday and treated myself to sausage chips and curry sauce. But it was no treat. Curry sauce didn’t taste like curry sauce.

Was really looking forward to our Saturday night fish and chips. We checked the closing times online prior to our arrival, only to be told it had shut half an hour earlier than stated. Seemed like the staff had had enough and wanted to go home early. Very disappointed. Why share a Facebook post stating closing at 8:30pm when you are packed up at 8? Very unprofessional and ruined our whole evening. Won’t be returning.

This is usually very good but on this occasion I ordered scampi at £13 and got 2 pieces of scampi and lots of batter not goof enough

Very yummy with lots of variety and super fresh fish and batter super crunchy ! Home made sauces are delicious ! It is pretty pricey which I think rubs people the wrong way but the food is genuinely amazing!

Online menu wasn't available in the chippy so getting things in sync would be great. What was available to eat was very limited but good.

Good fish and chip shop in Rock. They have added the grilled section of fish and the scallops, prawns and scampi were delicious. Prices are steep but reflects the location within Rock. Contrary to others the chips were done perfectly. We ate there for two nights and the only complaint was that we had to wait 40 minutes but this testament to the busyness of the place.

After waiting 40 minutes to be served. Prepare to be underwhelmed with the lack lustre food served here. £15.50 for inedible, soggy, greasy takeaway, haddock and chips, scandalous ! Ripping off the holiday makers, not all are multi millionaires. I expect whilst people are prepared to que and handover good money for this rubbish, then there is no incentive for you to improve.

On a family holiday to Cornwall we wanted fish and chips one night and went to Rock Road fish and chips near Rock. Read the reviews and then had a delicious selection of Fish and scampi and chips! Quick to order and didn’t have to wait too long. Crispy batter, tasty fish and heaps of chips. Can highly recommend! Andrew

Good fish and chips enjoyed on a nice sunny evening. Only gave 4 stars as it’s a bit on the steep side and service didn’t merit the 5 stars.

Very disappointed . Quick service but received fish ( no cod available) and chips in closed boxes so unaware of quality of chips . In each of the 7 boxes ( total cost £115) 50% were black. Sadly it was our last night of an otherwise super holiday in Daymer Bay. Afraid we won’t be visiting again on our future annual holidays .

Firstly, for a family of 4 with 2 young children we had 2 fish and chips and 2 scampi (no chips) and it cost £60. Regardless of the quality this is an extortionate price for (not even) 4 meals as a takeaway. Food was alright but not worth the money. Feels like they are monopolising on the fact the are no fish and chips in competition locally and they are in a pricey area. Not value for money by any stretch of the imagination, very disappointing. Still in shock for the price of a takeaway! Wish we had gone out for a meal instead and agree with someone else's review that you are better of waiting until your trip to Padstow for Fish and Chips. Shame.

Looked forward to having fish and chips during our recent holiday in Rock but were left very disappointed. Fish (haddock no cod) was good but the chips were a let down - over half were black and therefore wasted. Not worth the inflated price paid - need another fish and chip shop in Rock to offer some competition. Tip - wait until you go to Padstow to have fish and chips!

I pulled up to this fish and chip shop and nearly mistook it for a gaudy tattoo parlour because they use the same kind of gilded gold lettering in the window. Chips over cooked and black. No cod??? What? Everything costs twice as much as any other decent chip shop you’ve ever been in. Mushy peas were good, Shame there weren’t any great tasting chips to go with it.

This is an excellent fish and chip shop. A wonderful range of fresh and tasty fish and shellfish. Very lightly battered. Monkfish, prawns, scallops - delicious!

Probably one of the best fish and chips I've had. I ordered the sole which was super crispy but not too oily. The batter was gluten free which was a plus for my partner. All the fish is fresh and from local fishermen. Would recommend.
