Friendly family owned pub with amazing food and great selection of spirits, wine, and beer. You will need to book ahead as the 5 star reviews are well justified. Pub is very popular with locals as well as those visiting the area. If you get a chance, try the minced lamb and mint pie. It is to die for. Note that when booking check, it's the Robin Hood Inn Cragg Vale, as there is another Robin Hood Inn in Pecket Well near Hebden Bridge.

Been to this lovely pub regularly and eaten a few times but have to say today Sunday 10th Sept was the most impressive ever. The service we got on arrival was like VIP. Never seen such a range of drinks Ale , larger, wine and spirts. The meal was top notch and great menu. We couldn’t eat it all and kindly ask if we could take some home as many others did. The beef roast was the best I ever had and I have eaten here before but this weekend the food was even better than before if that’s possible. The pies were the best ever and I thanked the lovely staff. The staff all around were friendly and couldn’t do enough. We even met the kitchen staff after and what a lovely bunch. They have a great team there. Wished all pubs and restaurants were like this. We will be back again for sure. Thank you.

On a trip we decided to stop at the robin wood in for its outstanding reviews (How did they manage to get such high reviews) We sat down on our table and ordered drinks but it took three attempts to get a family member’s lemonade correct. First the glass was dirty, second the lemonade didn’t taste right apparently, then they got it right. I ordered a burger which was alright a bit dry but it was edible. However another family member ordered prawn sandwich and everyone said it was disgusting. The people that tried the prawn sandwich all said something along the lines of “it was inedible” Not to mention that this took nearly forty minutes to serve. Overall really dissatisfied with this restaurant. Don’t recommend.

Six friends attended for a lovely, pre-Xmas lunch. Lovely food & great service. The nut roast singled out for particular praise. Only improvement we'd recommend is a keg craft pale. Seven (yes seven) draught lagers is overkill - please swap at least one of these to a craft pale. Especially when best-selling local brewer Vocation is on your doorstep! Lovely pub, but move with the times please X

This is a lovely little pub/inn and I would highly recommend staying here. I stayed two nights and felt very looked after in my stay here. The pub has a lovely convivial atmosphere with quirky decor, and my room was cosy. Nb it’s a couple of miles outside of hebden bridge, but in the event I was glad to be staying here as the location was perfect for exploring Haworth and surrounding areas as well as hebden bridge. Lovely views from the gardens. Everyone was very tolerant of my annoying dog! The food was also very good, I had a lasagne which tasted home made, and garlic mushrooms, which were delicious and creamy rather than the usual frozen breadcrumbed affair.

I attended with my son on a busy Saturday evening, fortunately a phone call in advance secured our table. We were both very hungry so decided on the Giant Yorkshire pudding each, which was filled with Beef/ Pork and roast potatoes and mash, the dish was accompanied with a large gravy boat and a big bowl of various vegetables. It was a tremendous meal which we couldn't finish, the leftovers were packaged up for us to take home, which was great. My meal was accompanied by two pints of Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, a excellent pint. No matter how good the food the service can often make or break a dining experience, well in this particular case the service from the two ladies serving was exceptional..always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much for looking after us. The food is home cooked to a very good standard and the pub and clientele are all very welcoming. I can highly recommend a visit.

The Robin Hood offers without doubt, the best pub food in the area. Huge portions friendly service and tasty food too. It’s a small quirky pub with a limited number of tables so booking is advisable. The Robin is famous for its extensive homemade pie menu but our favourite treat is the Chateaubriand sharer platter but you’ll need to book this with 24hrs notice. Nobody leaves the Robin hungry!

It’s been a couple of years since I reviewed this pub, so about time I wrote another. I attended on Saturday evening with the family. The pub was nicely busy but not packed. A good selection of ales on tap, as well as the usual amazing collection of spirits behind the bar. We starved ourselves as usual as the portions are huge, and this evening did not disappoint. The summer menu is also available with some of the best pizzas you will find anywhere. I had a beef wellington pie, which was amazing. Jo the chef still does the best hand cut chips you will find anywhere. And as usual, an amazingly low bill, the food and beer here is such phenomenal value. A treasure off the beaten track in Cragg Vale.

There are many local country pubs that serve Sunday dinners and as expected they are hit and miss. Nothing worse than watery frozen aneamic looking veg, cold dinner plates and barely warm food, most of which has been produced in a microwave oven. Forunately at the Robin Hood you get none of that, the food is outstanding and so is the service from this family run pub. The interior is like going back in time, it's very old fashioned and homely, the roaring fire is very welcomong. If you like Timothy Taylors beer then it's well kept and is worth a visit just for a couple of pints. So i pre booked a table for four and made a special request for my wife who only eats chicken when it comes to Sunday Dinner. We arrived on the day and every table was full, i believe there are three seperate sittings. Three of us decided on three meat sunday lunches and i had Beef, Ham, Pork..our friends choose lamb as one of their meats. Accompanied by mash and roast potatoes, a bowl of fresh mixed veg, two Yorkshire puds and a massive gravy boat, what more could you want? My wifes chicken and stuffing was a very generous portion and she enjoyed it. Two bottles of Pinot Grigio were also drunk alongside a couple of beers. So that was our Sunday Lunch and i don't believe it's possible to get much better, going forward we plan to make this a monthly visit as fortunately we only live a 15 minute drive away. Thank you to the chef and staff, when it comes to the food and service change nothing because you are all doing a great job.

A traditional country pub with stone floors, old furniture, an open fire and an eccentric landlord who will have you in stitches with his tall tales. Lovely quaint little place and nice atmosphere apart from some locals stood at the bar letting everyone know how bad the foreigners are for the country and they should be shot along with all the “Lefties”. The bar staff seemed to be quite happy with this conversation. Lovely little place but i won’t be frequenting the place again as some of the rhetoric was quite disturbing for my daughter and myself. It seems that the owners/barstaff condone this behaviour.Won’t be going back.

We have visited this pub over many years. The positives: It has been renovated beautifully. The food is good and caters for all diets. The views are beautiful and the pub itself has a good, local feel to it. As regulars, we were disappointed by the recent service by the bar staff. The young barmaids were all abrupt and without much courtesy or friendliness. This really would make all the difference. This is a community pub and this is a huge positive, but there seems to be a difference in the way service is administered to known locals and those perceived not to be locals. Everyone should receive the same level of service and the same welcome. The importance of Tripadvisor is not to make negative comments but to use constructive criticism that will encourage changes that will make people return.

Piping hot, all freshly made and generous portions. It all felt very homely with a lovely fire in the restaurant part too. Really pleased we called, we'll be back.

The previous review I wrote in January 2014 and we are still going regularly to the Robin for our Sunday lunch and we are still enjoying it as just as much. The roast lamb is delicious, so very tender, gravy comes in a jug, the veg are served in a dish, roast potatoes and creamed potatoes are served with the meat and two large homemade Yorkshire puddings....yum yum.

Had Sunday lunch here today, unfortunately the meal was disappointing the chips were dreadful. However the owner was very honest and was apologetic and offered to not charge for the meal. I did pay some of the cost of the meal. My wife had a fantastic roast dinner and this is the first time we have ever had a poor meal. This would not put me off going to this fantastic pub and restaurant just a minor blip if you are in or around this area head here for great food and service we will be going back.

Stayed here for one night, what a lovely stay. Greeted by friendly bar staff and shown to our lovely comfortable room. The bar was also very comfortable, we had a drink before our evening meal which was excellent a very enjoyable evening. Breakfast was served by a lovely friendly lady, beware its enormous beautifully cooked didn't need any lunch after that. Lovely stay.

A lovely traditional pub steeped in local history that for the last few years has suffered from a revolving door of short lived landlords without a clue. What a refreshing change then to see that the Hinch' has finally got new landlords (Oct2024) who clearly know how to run a pub. Within a short period of time they have successfully managed to breathe new life into what had become a tired and soulless place to eat and drink. On the two occasions we've been since the Hinch reopened we've been super impressed with the food. In fact the cheese and onion pie might well be the best pie l've tasted in the Calder Valley (or ever!) and the flavourful and plentiful Sunday Roast offering was a cut above your usual pub ‘roast’ offering. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the food if you’re looking for somewhere to eat - especially when it comes without the hassle of parking in Hebden Bridge. On each occasion we’ve been, the Hinch was busy with drinkers and diners which is great to see. The trade off is you've only got the choice of Manchester owners JW Lees’ own branded mystery beer offerings. Forget the craft-ale revolution, or the fact that Vocation brewery is literally 5 mins away, the solitary guest beer offering here is San Miguel. I guess you can't have everything, but at least the food and atmosphere more than makes up for it!

My mum had her 70th Birthday party here. Absolutely spot on! We had all the left hand side of the pub allocated to us which was ample room for our party. Staff were great, buffet party food was excellent and plenty of it. We all had a lovely time. Big thank you to all the staff x
