The best restaurant in town, visited this micro chain maybe 10 times already throughout the last 3 years, it’s stable at being one of the tastiest restaurants I’ve ever eaten!

Clearly the best seafood place to visit in Brighton. Hands down.

The fresh seafood, amazing servers, and lovely warm atmosphere made this an incredible experience that I would highly recommend! One of our servers had a vast knowledge of the menu, and was able to give me personalised recommendations on the oyster selection that were available. We ordered a variety of dishes, which all tasted delicious! I found out that all dishes are made with fresh, locally sourced high quality ingredients in-house by the chefs. It certainly tasted like it too! The restaurant was very accommodating to a member of my party, who cannot eat any fat. They were happy to make adjustments to the menu to accommodate their dietary restriction, and were extremely helpful and kind towards this as well. I was also delighted and touched by the friendliness of the staff who went out of their way to create a beautiful congratulatory dessert plate for me as I was celebrating a special occasion. The chocolate truffles were divine - rich and velvety, which seemingly melted in my mouth. I really appreciate the wonderful staff here, both front and back of house, that go beyond to deliver exceptional service. I especially wish to thank the servers, that went above and beyond to make this meal a truly memorable experience.

Sea bass was really fresh and tender! It didn’t have any fishy smell. Very delicious. Seafood linguine is full of flavor. So good

It’s OK. Good food well cooked. Can be variable. Nothing will disappoint but just not that much fun. There are better places close by.

Food was absolutely amazing - the oysters, mussels, scallops, the chowder (timely on a cold day) the risotto, the wine and the tiramisu. The bread basket and the various condiments were so so good. Our server, Claudio, was a delight, so incredibly friendly, helpful and was a big part of this wonderful lunch experience. The other staff were super friendly and in high spirits as well. Overall, amazing vibe in the restaurant - incredible food - great service - it was my friend and I’s favourite meal in our 3 week long trip. Highly recommend!! Ps for non French speakers - not an issue at all!

SUPERB PLACE!! We had so much food here and all of it was amazing!! Best oysters of my life 🫶🤤 the risotto was sooooo good and creamy; the chowder was mind blowing as well. The bread basket + spreads are also soo delicious! Claudio was so welcoming and attentive - he really made the whole experience extra special!

We had yet another wonderful meal at Riddle and Finns. It was my daughter's 21st and they made her a lovely birthday plate with free chocolate truffles without us even asking. We can't wait to return.

20 minutes wait for G&T £300 bill when my food didn’t arrive so cancelled, phoned owner who told me he was doing a favor and made it out to be my fault and I should be grateful, lovely wait staff but owners attitude appalling in my opinion, won’t ever return!

We liked it here! Won’t be back. Charged a service charge for the bread and tiny dips? Have to share your table with any old randoms?! Tiny sad little oysters?! So expensive for no apparent reason. I guess that’s why we could get a walk in on an Easter weekend.

We came here 4 years ago and couldn’t wait to come back. 4 years ago we were happy to join the waiting list that was 1 1/2 long. Tonight (Friday 8pm) we were seated immediately as the restaurant was half full. Despite have plenty of empty tables we were sat opposite a couple who had clearly been there for quite some time. The gentleman element of the couple kindly tasted my negroni and explained that the plaice had gone downhill. I did not realise that he meant the place. Unfortunately he was right. Our waiter (I wish I knew his name) was genuinely great. The manager (not so great) offered a free negroni at the end of the evening, which was nice of him given that another of his customers had drank most of my first one. So now to the food - the restaurant was empty when we left at 9pm. Please feel free to make your own mind up.

Welcoming staff who really couldn't do enough for us. Delicious oysters - highly recommended! Mouth watering mains, and we watched them being prepared from our outside seats. A must visit

My friend and I had dinner on Thursday evening. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had 12 oysters between us. Unfortunately, we both had terrible upset stomachs and spent an uncomfortable night.

Food is good, very small portions. Very slow service.

Popped in for a quick drink and some fries, was after a Margarita which wasn't on the menu but Chris was able to whip up the most delicious spicy marg I've ever had. 10/10 👌

Had the loveliest afternoon here with my Daughter today. The Seafood platter was truly delicious and the selection of Desserts were absolutely scrumptious but the best thing about it was the service from 2 gentleman front of house. They don’t make them like that anymore. So attentive and kind and made it fabulous and special. Cannot wait to return the next time I’m in Brighton x

Bustling high top-only seafood bistro with daily catch offerings. The menu is well curated with local and seasonal ingredients and all dishes are well flavored to highlight the freshness of the ingredients. We especially enjoyed the ceviche, octopus and the Dover sole.

Visited “the Lanes” restaurant whilst staying in Brighton during October 2021. Pre covid 2nd lockdown break! My daughter came to life and really enjoyed the location, vibes, atmosphere and food. I felt the same and was also impressed by the “unique style decor”. We both also really enjoyed Brighton in general, especially the British Airways tower. Would definitely recommend Brighton - maybe during early/late summer though as it was extremely windy!

One of the waiters (in white) that does not dress like others couldn’t remember our orders and he made 3 mistakes. 1. He forgot the drink we ordered. 2. We ordered three types of Oysters, one each. He confirmed with us. Although he gave us three each and argued with us. 3. We did not mention the squid at all but he ordered for us. If you cannot remember orders, TAKE NOTES.

If you're looking for a place with good seafood, this is it. Suitable for people with intolerances -- they have a whole dairy-free menu. They give a complementary basket of bread with some sauces in the beginning.

The best seafood I've had for some time. Excellent in every aspect, highly recommend. Online waiting is very good too - join the line and go for a drink nearby whilst waiting.

I grabbed a quick lunch. I had very delicious and gorgeous mussels as a main. While I waited I got some salmon tartar on house with home-made sauces and fresh sourdough bread. Service was beyond excellent and friendly. I would give 6 stars if it was possible. Fine dining at its best. I highly recommend it.

The BEST seafood restaurant in Sussex. Oysters are fresh and delicious. What stands out most for me was the incredible service. Have been several times and each time has been superb.

Oysters, fish and seafood a plenty. This is not your regular local chippy, this restaurant, located in the Lanes is an absolute delight. Dishes served as you want them with salads and chips to accompany . You cant go wrong here, service is impeccable and very professional. A wonderful meal and a warm welcome is guaranteed. However a small word of warning. During a very busy period you may be asked to share a table with others. For most of us not a problem, but if you are looking for a romantic close and private event, double check availability.

I came here because I was invited by the seafood risotto and linguine. The food was more delicious than anything I had eaten in England, and the staff at the restaurant had a great atmosphere! ! For Japanese people, it's a little expensive, but when it comes to eating out in the UK, it's average. Brighton is the best!

I tried to redeem my 25% voucher today. Told I couldn't because it wasn't in its envelope? I received the voucher in December because I complained that the "fish" pie had three chunks of fish and the rest was creamy sauce. Never visit again. Completely dishonorable voucher system, totally dishonorable.

What an experience. We were just passing and the candlelight looked so inviting we had to go in. Best decision. The seafood was high quality and beautifully prepared. Service was helpful, fun and charming. The ambience, delightful. And the sharing dessert plate... OMG OMG. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Perfect place to go on a cold, wet December day (though it’s equally as good in the summer). Love the ambiance, great staff and choice of food, wine & champagne. It’s always on our list to visit when we are in Brighton.

Visited last night. Early dinner before a show, arrived just before 5pm. Was already very busy. It's not bookable with side by side service. Service was perfect. The right balance between friendly and professional. Made us really feel at home without being too intrusive. 10/10 Food was also delicious. The Cod special was really special. The wine was also perfect (picpoull). Definitely would definitely recommend.

We've been regulars here for many years. But have just returned after a gap as they struggled to recover from the chef shortage after Covid and the quality dipped. They're back to form. Clearly got good chefs back and it shows. Had a great meal. All dishes cooked well. Tasted great. Fun vibe. Nice wine. We'll definitely be returning often again - the loyalty stamps card won't take long to fill up.

Every staff member made us feel extremely welcome. The lady asked us if we were there for an occasion and we told her it was our anniversary. At the end of the meal she surprised us with a ‘Happy Anniversary’ plate with truffles and it really made our experience so special!

Fantastic welcome. Great food with team very knowledgeable, added to delicious Champagne. A perfect birthday treat. (We had four fish dishes and four sides- all were fresh vibrant and executed to perfection bar the saute potatoes)

One the best seafood I have ever tasted. The staff, especially City, are so friendly and kind. I highly recommend this place. It’s worth waiting for like an hour to be seated. PS: Catch of the day was Plaice for us.

Best seafood in Brighton but you should already know this

We had squid, mussels and bream. We also tried the seasonal pumpkin mash. All food was amazing and waitress was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely one of the finest seafood restaurants in the UK.

It does have a romantic feel, until you realise you will be sat right beside another couple. Which we are not used to doing, maybe this does happen more in the cities. There was a table available but the server said it was for four people not two. So we had to sit opposite another couple! Ten minutes later two young chaps came in and pushed to have the original table we asked for, She allowed them to take it! This is so annoying? The Lanes restaurant needs to make it clear, that when busy there’s a 99 per cent chance you will sit with strangers. We were given a small bread basket when we were seated, which I thought was nice, until it appeared on our bill as a cover charge? £4.00 There is a 12.5 per cent service charge on your bill , I think that’s plenty. Maybe when offering the bread basket you need to INFORM people there is a charge for this at £2.00 per person! The specials board needs to also have prices on, my husband ordered a Dover Sole, with no sides just the fish it was £44 , we would not of asked for this if we had known the price. We are foodies and pay a lot for beautiful food, which it was but please be up front with Costings.

I was very annoyed after going to riddle and Finns at least once a week every week we had saved our stamps for a free meal . We asked the waitress what we need to get with this she said we could have 1 thing off the mains menu and this would be free so we ordered one starter and some oysters. After getting the bill they discounted the the cheapest item rather the main meal as discussed with the waitress . If your staff explain they should say the correct information shame as is the long run you have lost money for the greediness.

We were in Brighton for a week and went back twice in three days. The first time we had the sashimi as a main, the Singapore chilli crab and the catch of the day, Dover sole. Additionally, you get bread and dips to start - THE MOST AMAZING salmon dip and taramasalata I’ve ever had. The second time back we had the crispy squid, a special of mussels, a caviar bump, lemon sole and Dover sole. We sat outside as we love to watch the chefs work and they interacted with us even though it was a packed Saturday night. The food was so incredible that we went back a few days later and the head chef remembered us. I have a garlic allergy but wanted one of the specials and he made it up for me fresh with no hesitation. The maître d was different on both nights but equally amazing service. Had we been in Brighton longer we would’ve gone a third time. A great spot for a date night

Un sitio demasiado caro para la calidad que ofrecen deja mucho que desear,fue una experiencia un poco decepcionante.el ceviche deben de quitarlo de la carta hasta que encuentren alguien para hacerlo mejor, porque poner unos trocitos de pescado en unas gotas de limón nones un ceviche. Pedimos las vieras saladisimas, el pulpo debería ser a la brasa pues el chef optó por darle un baño en la freidora, el rape en tempura tres trocitos, los langostinos en tempura congelados de bolsa, los mejillones es el único plato muy bien hecho, y el pan con las salsas estaba muy rico.

A seafood lovers paradise! Third time here and has never disappointed. Being able to get a shellfish main course under £20 is a winning factor and especially when it tastes as good as it does. Fav dish the shellfish risotto followed closely by the shellfish linguine 👌🏼

OK, if I had not eaten here on many occasions I would have known no better. If in the past it warranted 5☆ then this time it was definitely a three☆, they new it and then had audacity to take payment for service. Perhaps monitoring of service needs to be done as taking payment has become customary and can only appear to lower overall service standards.

This is a more high end eatery. just along the seafront in Brighton from the pier. Its not cheap, but then based on the food, which is exceptionally prepared, you wouldn't expect it to be. You do share the table with others, which we didn't know before we arrived, so if that's not your thing, you'd best go elsewhere. But a nice atmosphere and delicious food.

We came to Brighton to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The waitress was amazing and attentive. The food was amazing and so fresh. We were waiting to order dessert and wondered where the waitress had gone when she suddenly appeared with a plate for us wish g us a happy anniversary

Absolutely loved it! Went here with my wife for my birthday Oysters! It was delicious, super nice service, great waiters and super friendly manager, I even was surprised with delicious hand made truffles at the end of our dinner, was really pleased :) The atmosphere was cosy and very welcoming. Would definitely come back here.

Friday late lunch. Window seats for two. Great to people watch. Lovely bottle of white wine. Oysters, (18) a pasta dish, coffees. approx £150. Staff always very good, food very good. We go every time we visit Brighton.

When we come to Brighton this restaurant is top of our list. It has a special atmosphere you won't find anywhere else. Always fresh fish. loads of choice with friendly and helpful staff. Never disappoints.

We had a lovely meal here after a nice day at the beach. Our server (friendly woman from Brixton) was an absolute delight, she really made the experience perfect.

Food wise it was close to 💯. 6 of us we ordered an oyster plate, one fried squid and another as starter. For the main, lobsters, lemon sole and bream were all lovely. The hard rock salmon a bit too salty. Busy places. Customer standing waiting outside at lunch time. We took birthday cake to celebrate, they’d charge 3.5£/ppl if we eat cake there (opportunity cost) We also ordered one bottle of sparkling wine. 50-60£/ppl

This is a fantastic restaurant to be at and no wonder ranked one of the top ones in Brighton. Absolutely amazing seafood, cook to perfection. Flavourful and tasty dishes. The scallops were a perfectly seared and large portion too. Other dishes were all complimented well 😍 I would recommend this place to others for sure. Limited seatings so you probably have to book to come or visiting during non peak hours.

As good as ever when we suddenly had an excuse to visit Brighton but didn't have time to book at the Rotunda. And the staff were as welcoming and cheerful as they always have been.

I had the Smoked Haddock and Salmon Fishcake special, which were absolutely delicious, full of flavour and stood out even before adding the garlic aioli or lemon slice. The appetisers of bread and a selection of dips were all good, but the salmon absolutely stood out from the other three. David, my waiter, was attentive, knowledgeable and all round did an excellent job. I would happily come back here to try more of the dishes on offer, everything coming out of the kitchen looked beautiful.

The same restaurant at the beach took 45 mins for waiting. The Lanes could be served immediately.

Service- Honestly, our serving staff was top notch. She even helped us de-bone our fish, because we were so useless at it, haha! What I also appreciated was bread served before food with delicious dips and chutney. Wow, what a thoughtful gesture. We don’t get these in London so for a second, I thought they got our order wrong and thought these weren’t complimentary. Food- Delicious, although my complaint was that the portion was a bit small. Though, linguine was excellent and something everyone should try as it was original and simple. Dessert was massive! I recommend sharing between two!

Both the service and food at this atmospheric little restaurant were brilliant. We enjoyed the freshest fish and seafood and would definitely return if nearby in the future. Just be aware, you might have to sit on tables with other groups but didn’t find this a problem at all!

Every time I go to Brighton I would look in the window of this restaurant and think we'd love to go ,on this day I took my daughter who is vegetarian but eats fish, food was amazing ,fantastic flavor good portions well worth the money, lovely service definitely go back there for a treat.

It was 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon and it was great. No moody teenager with us, so that's +1 We had sea bream and sea food linguini, and a bit of desert... And a little wine. I enjoyed the food, the restaurant and the service, and I felt money well spent. The lady serving, was from Brixton and was lovely. We will be trying her recommendation soon 👍

Literally the best seafood I have ever had. The scallops and mussels are so juicy and fat 😂 I will definitely come back again to try different dishes. All of them are cooked and seasoned perfectly. 200% recommend to come here during your stay in Brighton!

An excellent seafood restaurant tucked in a small lane off North Street. They don't take reservation and need to share table unless your party can occupy the whole table, like 4 or 6. Catch of the day has 5 types of fish. Price is reasonable. The bream was nicely cooked.

Finally a proper sea food restaurant! A very interesting and well executed menu. You can tell that all the seafood is super fresh and the presentation is spot on. Our server Maxim was fun and professional and made us have a great experience all around. We’ll definitely go back soon!!

We went to this restaurant for lunch and it exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious! We ordered jersey oysters, lobster and mussels. They were all outstanding! The service was also great.
