I arranged an 80th Birthday lunch for my husband and our close family (18 of us) . We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue! The decor is beautiful ( as are the grounds). We had a beautiful private dining room opening onto a patio. Matthew and Gaynor couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful ( both with the arrangements and on the day) . The food was delicious, the service perfect. Thankyou both for making it a very special day! We all agree we will be back !

It was our first visit to the Bodkin under its new management & refurbishment. We were made to feel very welcome & seated in the sun room which was light, roomy & comfy. There was a good, varied choice on the lunch menu which was freshly cooked & delicious! We can highly recommend the wiltshire ham, egg & chips, sea bass & the chicken & cider mustard pie. Puds were delicious too! The Bodkin is well worth a visit.

We visited this restaurant for lunch on Wednesday. The log fire was burning and we were greeted as warmly. There was an offer of up to £10 off on certain main courses making it excellent value. Our friend had a steak which was cooked to order, my husband had fish and chips and I had crispy chicken cooked in a creamy tarragon and mushroom sauce. All were delighted with their food. We would heartily recommend this restaurant.

This was our first visit to The Bodkin since October 2016, the reason was the same, a visit to Tetbury Audi first. It was our first meal out since 'Lockdown' started. So all neatly organised, a 'one-way' entry and exit system, hand sanitizer at the door, and then wait to be seated. No direct access to the bar, but drinks delivered to the table by tray, and the food likewise, after perusal of a single use menu. Masks to be worn as far as the table and then removed. So a ribeye steak with stilton sauce and a burger, fries and salad garnish with both, a decent wine list and a good range of draught beers. Very friendly, very clean and wiping down constantly. Contact details left for 'track and trace'. A good experience, well handled in the circumstances, and it was very nice to eat out.

Decided to break up journey on route to West Country. Our party consisted of two adults , two children and one dog . Plenty of parking for our two cars upon arrival. Situated in the southern part of the cotswolds , the hotel is very easy to find . The 17th century coaching inn is located in a lovely green setting with a large outside area to walk dogs and children to play . The ample family room consisted of two separate bedrooms with a large bathroom . Tv in both rooms . Our evening meal and breakfast were second to none with a good variety of home cooked dishes which would cater for all palettes . You will definitely find something special on the menu . The breakfast we had was bagel with scrambled eggs and salmon and the bodkin full English breakfast. Both were great . Lastly we would like to say how pleasant and welcoming the family and staff were to us . Lucy gave us an interesting insight to the history and stories of highwaymen from times gone past .

Visited on a weekday for a light lunch, my wife and I both had Ploughman’s, this took a really long time to arrive, the pub was far from busy so we had no idea why lunch took so long to arrive? We would describe the Ploughman’s as average nether very good or very bad. There is a fairly large carpark plus a children’s play area. The Bodkin holds a fairly good Food Standards Agency hygiene rating of ‘4’ out of a possible ‘5’.

Visited The Bodkin today for lunch. We both had the cod and chips. Crispy, bubbly batter and delicious, flavoursome fish. Called in here late Saturday afternoon whilst returning home from a motorcycle trip. The interior is quaint, but appeared very untidy. Went into bar and ordered a pint. The older lady behind the bar, whilst not rude, was not friendly and she seemed to treat customers as if they were an inconvenience. Sat outside and the two empty tables were full of dirty glasses and bottles which seemed to have been there for a while. Overheard some people on another table complaining about the quality of the food and poor unfriendly service. Great building and location, but place is managed very poorly, staff seem to have no idea on what customer service is. Can’t recommend and won’t be returning.O

My husband and I visited today, we arrived at 19.30 and ordered two steaks. One medium one medium rare, 45 minutes later our food arrived. The steaks were well over cooked, very well done and covered in grease and looked like they had been cooked on a dirty grill. We mentioned this to the lady who I think was the manger her response was let it go these things happen. No apology, no replacement meal she just picked up the plates and walked away. I would never return not only because of the food but mainly because of the poor customer service.

Have driven by here a few times and today we stopped as we could see others eating outside. Seemed a bit odd, but not entirely sure why. I waited at the bar for sometime before someone appeared, I ordered two lime and sodas, which looked fizzy but were fairly flat. The landlord didn’t believe me so poured himself a coke, then mumbled that he would go and look at the problem. A more cheerful lady appeared and said she would bring drinks out to us and gave us some menus, sadly the fish cakes were off. Mr cheerful came out and explained he had changed the gas but no better, so we ordered a bottle of fizzy water, which was hardly bursting with fizz. The two gammon steaks arrived, which were really good. We would try it again and hope the cheerful lady is working.

We have visited The Bodkin on many occasions on route to the Cotswolds and enjoyed the lunch menu. On this occasion we were extremely disappointed as the menu had changed and the resulting chicken Cajun salad was no more than leaves, peppers and one and half cherry tomatoes with 6 small pieces of chicken. The meal certainly did not warrant the £10.95 price tag. The burgers were equally priced but gave better value for money. An overall very expensive lunch that we shall not be repeating!

We've been twice in the past 3 weeks. Same dishes each time. Fish & Chips and Salmon. Rubbery fish, most of it batter and skin; yet first time it was full, fleshy, fresh and delicious. Burnt, hard chips with no potato inside. Tiny bit of salmon with a few leaves and 2 potatoes; first time it was twice the size with a lovely salad. Won't go again, as we can't be sure what will be served up, or when it will have been cooked.

I’d heard good things about this place so we were looking forward to our lunch. I was surprised to find we were the only people there. When our food arrived, I’m afraid it didn’t look as appetising as I’d hoped it would. Everything we ordered looked as if it had been kept waiting in the kitchen under a heat lamp. If it had, that was odd given we were the only customers. All the sauces looked gloopy and congealed around the edges. My parsnip and pear soup looked just like wallpaper paste and had no flavour at all. I liked the bread which was fresh and served warm. My belly pork was very chewy whereas I was expecting a melt in the mouth texture. The crackling was hard and difficult to eat. I liked the bubble and squeak. My husband’s duck was over cooked and tough. My friend said her steak was perfectly cooked although she didn’t like the mushrooms. Our desserts were attractively presented. The ice cream was very nice. My torte was so so.

Had lunch here in the bar. With a choice of restaurant menu or bar menu, opted for bar menu as didn't want a large meal. 3 of us opted for the Thai fish cakes, pretty disappointing. Obviously a bog standard frozen fishcake, not homemade with a tartar sauce and sweet chilli sauce to accompany, also served with a very bland cous cous and at £10.95 which is very expensive for what it was. Dessert was ok. But the service was pretty average too. Expect better for the prices. Nice decor though. Will not be returning.

Wonderful open log fire burning, very welcoming on a wet and windy night. Greeted with an immediate “we’re very busy” to then be told all tables were booked, we explained we were happy to eat in the bar and not the restaurant. Again told tables were booked, only one was actually reserved. Eventually we were shown to one of four free tables. First two wine choices on the list were no longer available, thankfully the third one was and it was excellent. Food was good, steaks were slightly smaller than expected but cooked nicely, chips were great!! Overall service was okay, albeit a little bitty and fumbly, as though it was an inconvenience.

My partner and I visited The Bodkin for the first time on Valentines day hoping for a special evening. The waiting staff were nice enough but clearly not trained professionals. We were a bit disappointed to have a surprise "Valentines Menu" dropped on us. I say surprise because it was not shown on their website or mentioned when I phoned to book our table. The menu was restricted somewhat and I had a job to choose anything. I had decided I wanted a steak so I had to choose the only offering on the menu, which was a rib eye. I wanted it cooked rare but got it medium instead. I didn't complain though as I didn't want to spoil the evening. It was tasty enough however and still quite tender.

Stopped off after visiting Tetbury for an evening meal. Checked that it would allow a very well behaved dog and they said yes but only in the bar which was fine. We ordered our drinks and a meal via the bar. The bar where we sat had a family of 3 children at the next table who left shortly after we arrived, the children were noisy with food and papers all over the floor. When they left the waitress cleared as much of the floor as possible and even asked our dog to help her! When they left the area in the room where we sat was empty, through the arch was a couple sat down with only drinks and what I assume was the owner talking to them. As my husband got up to take his coat off the dog (who was still on his lead) moved to investigate the food left on the floor, the owner stopped talking to the other couple and remonstrated with us asking us to not let our dog off the lead as not everyone likes dogs! The dog was free for all of 5 seconds and 3 foot away from us, we had already called him back to us as I certainly did not want him eating discarded food of the messy floor; there was no need to talk to us like we were some kind of idiots. Needless to say we cancelled the food ordered, paid for the drinks and left. We were made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome, the bar was very unclean with my jumper sticking to the grubby table. The owner (?) came over to explain they have a POLICY of dogs on leads only (which of course he still was) and again remonstrated that I should be aware that not everyone likes dogs which I think meant her as there was no one else around. Good place for kids to go and throw food and generally do what kids are allowed to do in restaurants but need to change their policy to no dogs as clearly not welcome. Can see why more restaurants/pubs are banning children but allowing dogs.

Arrival presents an instant feeling of quality and the dining room offers a more formal environment to eat in than the bar but is still very relaxed. As usual the food, which in our case was Sunday lunch, can only be described as excellent.A lounge area at the end of the dining room offers a comfortable arrival meeting area where pre lunch / dinner drinks can be enjoyed whilst perusing the menu, ordering food and waiting for the first course to arrive.A young lady, who I assumed was the manager, offered a very warm welcome and was very attentive throughout the meal. The owner did seem slightly detached from events on this visit but he did help with service at times. Other younger staff gave the impression that they were learning their craft but no doubt, given a little time, they will soon become relaxed and experienced waiting staff.Whilst the overall ambiance in the restaurant is very appealing the chair seat covers caught my wife's eye as she was about to sit down and caused concern regarding the possible transfer of the dirty seat covers to her white trousers. This is one housekeeping issue which could do with some immediate attention. All in all. an experience that meant that we will definitely return to eat before very long and don't worry about mine host's detachment from events he too can be very charming and projects a warm, if a little eccentric, personality.

A short menu, as it should be in a place of this size, well chosen to contain a varied offering, and well cooked. Eat in the restaurant or in the bar -- they're happy to serve a bar meal in the restaurant and a restaurant meal in the bar, and just as happy to give you a starter off one menu and a main course off the other -- wherever you happen to be sitting. Reasonably priced wines; if you're ordering a beer in the bar, I recommend ignoring the "international" keg beers and going for a local bitter, which you'll find is well kept and well served.

We've visited The Bodkin for both lunch and dinner 4 of 5 times over the past couple of years. It's a lovely rural location and a great meeting point for us to catch up with other family members. Unfortunately today's lunch wasn't the first time we've had a disappointing meal. Previous visits include very fatty, barely edible roast beef. We also visited on an evening for dinner and had a fillet steak which was overcooked, we did return this but were made to feel as though we'd inconvenienced who was serving us but they did bring us a replacement. However, this 'fillet' which quite frankly could have been any old piece of meat was a strange colour and tough as old boots which is not what fillet should be! I still wonder what it actually was! Then today... a year or so down the line I was silly enough to order a rib eye steak!!! Big mistake!!! More gristle that meat and the strangest taste and smell! Both myself and another family member left 3/4 of our steaks. Nothing was asked when our plates were taken as to why we'd left so much but I did quietly mention it didn't taste right and that the smell was that of meat that was on the turn. The waitress apologised but said no more. The bill then came with both steaks still on there! When raised we were told that the steaks are vacuum packed and the chefs tasted both and were both fine making us feel like we were liars and trying to get a cheap meal. I can assure you this wasn't the case! In the end we were told they'd discount the steaks but we have come away very disappointed that we paid over £10 for a steak we couldn't eat and service that was not understanding nor apologetic which was not acceptable after 10 of us spent a lot of money on food & wine. It's safe to say after giving the bodkin the benefit of the doubt, we will not be returning again!

Our first visit but we were accompanied by friends who had visited before and recommended we dine there. Thank you, a good recommendation. We were the only diners in the main restaurant during a Thursday lunch service but the ambiance was warm and welcoming. Service is laid back and that added to the enjoyment. All of our starters were very enjoyable and my main , sea bass with scallops , a red curry sauce and rice was one of the best meals I've had recently and that has included eating at a Michelin restaurant. Would like to try the restaurant again in the evening or maybe for Sunday lunch when there might be a bit more of a buzz about the place but our experience was nonetheless very enjoyable. The bar area also offers a warm and welcoming environment in which to eat and would make a good alternative to the main dining room which is a little more formal but still very relaxed. They where very busy which reflected in time we got our meals but staff where very friendly and helpful and the food was well worth the small wait.Fantastic grounds make a great summers afternoon destination.

We booked Sunday lunch last minute. Great value menu and the roasts tasted great but service was a real let down. Wrong sauce served with pork, water arrived after asking three times, desserts took ages etc.

Firstly, the location is beautiful and the building is lovely. Lots of parking outside. Near the ever-popular Westonbirt Arboretum. The menu choice was promising and they did two courses for £16.95 which sounded okay. On the day we visited the food was fairly poor for the price. For example we would expect a restaurant's gravy not to taste like Bisto, but to taste like it was made from scratch, and some potatoes were bad. In terms of atmosphere the restaurant is nicely decorated and clean and had some pleasant jazz music playing. The young staff seemed to lack confidence and were not attentive enough to service the guests' basic needs. There were only five tables occupied so capacity ought not to have been a problem. For example, a half hour after we were ready to pay we had to chase the bill by going round to the hotel reception. Overall it is very picturesque and spacious but we found the disorganised service hampered our enjoyment, and the food was not good enough to balance this out.

This was a chance meeting with the Bodkin, and what a lovely place. Saturday afternoon, heading out of Tetbury towards Bath, our recommended stop-off had a closed kitchen and so did the next watering hole in Didmarton. As we drove on I spotted a well stocked parking area and said to my girlfriend, we have somewhere.Welcomed by Donald and Eileen, opted to stand at the bar for a sharpener before moving to the restaurant for our meal, all top notch, a burger for her, apparently proper meaty affair, and a rib-eye for me with a stilton sauce, not what I would usually ask for because of past catastrophes, but the best in a very long time. Coupled with a decent Shiraz, a good time had by all. Great sense of humour with the husband and wife team.I will certainly be going back.

Took 10 minutes before any staff acknowledge us, taken our table with only 1 set of menu to share, took an additional 15 minute to take our order. So basically waited 30 minutes from walking in to be served with drinks. Took an additional 20 minutes before our cold meat and gravy sunday roast arrived, OH! It's served with piping hot vegetable and Yorkshire pudding. So if you like your meat served cold this would be a brilliant place to go.

We have eaten here a few times over the years and the food has always been good. Yesterday was no exception, superb steak, burger, chicken and fish. All ingredients feel fresh and meat great quality. Food wise the only slight gripe is that the chips aren't homemade, although they were perfectly lovely. Stilton sauce was delicious and made solely from cheese and cream - nothing artificial. The owners are always friendly and very accommodating but if the bar isn't busy the atmosphere can feel a little stark, although the surroundings are tasteful and comfortable.Very definitely worth a visit if you are passing.

When I arrived at the unattended reception it wasn't clear where the bar was. When I found it, there were people in the bar but the bar was unattended. Someone (the owner?) then arrived and ushered me to the restaurant seating area while I waited for my friend. I was brought the menus and the drink I had ordered, whilst having Jazz FM in one ear and Classic FM in the other. It was very odd. The dining room was very 1980's country house and lacking in atmosphere. However, I must praise the food. The steak was excellent and could not be faulted as was my friends lamb. Everything was reasonably priced and I would be happy to eat there again.

Halfway back from Wales, we wanted a meal but didn't fancy M4 Services. A quick look on Trip Advisor took us to the Bodkin. Lucky for us - Thursday nights, a big Ribeye Steak and Chips costs £10. Choice of Peppercorn, Blue Cheese or Red Wine sauces for an extra £1.50. Steak was excellent, and the puddings weren't bad either! Nice grounds, friendly staff, well kept local beers. Just what we wanted.

Had Cod and Chips, with Mushy peas. To be honest this could of been baby food as it really didn't have any taste or seasoning at all. The peas were obviously tinned, they could of at least seasoned them and added mint to jazz it up a bit. The staff were friendly and the setting was quite nice, although very close proximity to a fast and busy road.Overall very disappointed, was not worth the price paid. Also poor select of Ale / Beer and Cider available. I would recommend the Old House at Home for the nearest good food.

My wife and I stopped to get something to eat in the middle of the afternoon on the way home. We actually passed the Hotel, but then turned around to check if it was open for food (not entirely clear as we swept past, it's on a fast stretch of road), it was!Greeted by very friendly staff and were asked if we wanted to eat in the restaurant, which we accepted and no difference in price. The restaurant which is a very nice setting, was empty, so we sat on a nice sofa in there while we waited for our meals.I had gourmet burger and fries, while my wife had a chicken meal. Both were excellent. If the weather had been better, we would have liked to have eaten outside, but it's summer 2016.Definitely recommended.

We went to Bodkin house for a meal last night. We were a hen party staying close by and pre booked the Bodkin house on a recommendation from a friend who had been before. They asked if we wanted a private room or to be in the main restaurant. We chose the private room incase we disturbed the other people dining there. They allowed us to prebook our meals so it didnt interrupt our evening. the room we were in was lovely and we more than happy to come over early to put up a few balloons and some bunting to decorate it for the hen. The owner/manager was so welcoming when we arrived. very friendly and interested in where we were from etc. there is always a worry when its a hen party that we would be tolerated rather than welcomed but there was no sign of that at the bodkin. the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. to the point that they also helped us out this morning when we had run out of supplies in the house we were staying and and having no phone coverage so we couldn't find the nearest shop the owner went over and above to help us even though we weren't staying with him. The food was lovely, everyone enjoyed their meals and it was all delicious the only complaint was how full we all were as known wanted to leave any. Very reasonably priced, will definitely be back if we are in the area nd would certainly like to go and stay someday. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We were staying at the Bodkin House for four nights and enjoyed the food so much we ate there for 3 of the 4 nights. The restaurant has a varied menu that changes nightly so always plenty of new options to choose from. The friends we were staying with also were very impressed. We would highly recommend it.

.To be honest, I wouldn't go here especially. But travelling from the Cotswolds to London quite often, it's a good stop-off place to stretch your legs and have a quick bite. There is a mid-week special, but I had this time pate and chutney and then scallops. The garnish was very wilted, but overall not bad. It's not ever going to be a Michelin vaut le voyage, but it is acceptable..

We visited on Tuesday lunchtime and ordered from the £ 7.95 menu. I had gammon, eggs and chips which was well cooked and a generous portion. My friend had pasta which she said was very tasty and full of flavour. The staff were very helpful and pleasant which made the visit more enjoyable. I shall definitely be going again.

Had a family Sunday lunch at Bodkin House. The overall experience was not positive. The décor is tired and somewhat shabby. The service was ok, but the youngsters need more training. The worst part was the food - the soup was lukewarm and unseasoned. The roast beef was extremely tough, and had presumably been long reheated already sliced. The roast potatoes were rubbery, as was the yorkshire pud, again suggesting they had been cooked well in advance. The white wine was sadly barely drinkable. No point in returning until things improve or it changes hands.

Since finding this little gem which is only 8 miles from our home and we have previously ignored for many years it has become our firm favorite place to not only eat ourselves but to take our friends. It has the style and quality that you can be sure will impress others which is satisfying. The staff are lovely especially Lucy who looks after you completely but unobtrusively. The Bodkin also represents exceptional value for money especially their Thursday steak night and indeed their Friday fish night. Try it you'll love it.

We pre-booked a family Sunday lunch on mothers at The Bodkin and was told there would be a Mother's Day 'twist' although they couldn't confirm what it would've at the time. Despite being a lovely place we were very disappointed with the lunch. I like firm vegetables but these were just plain raw and the beef was very chewy, despite being rare. My 20 month old son had no chance of getting through either. There also didn't turn out to be a twist as promised, unless the twist was that they wrote 'Mother's Day' on the top of the menu. A flower for the mums or a glass a sparkling wine would have been all that was needed, but it was just like any other Sunday. The young chap who served us also looked very uncomfortable with people and so looked like he would much rather be anywhere else but there! The starters were nice however but for the price of £18.95 for 2 courses is was very disappointing, especially as we couldn't eat most of the main course. Shame.

This is a lovely place but the food on the occasion we visited was poor. Was the chef ill? Who knows. I hope it was a one-off but sadly it was so bad that I'm not going to try again for a few years. Really sad about this because the building is great and somewhere that I'd love to visit again. The food: the roast potatoes were from school days, the gravy was watery and tasteless, the beef was promised rare and came well done and the yorkshire pudding was burnt. On the plus side the staff were very friendly. When the waitress asked me why I hadn't eaten my potatoes and I said that they weren't up to scratch (brave!) there was no attempt to make amends. This slightly makes me feel that it wasn't a one off and they are happy to cater to low standards....

We live locally, but hadn't visited The Bodkin for well over 15 years, preferring our usual haunts in the locality of Old Sodbury and Acton Turville; however, we're scouting locations for our wedding in the summer and so decided to give it a try and have a meal there.A warm welcome from the proprietors.Decor: traditional coaching house style with contemporary touches.Layout: cosy bar area, panelled in oak and very beautiful. The separate restaurant area has a seating area and dining area, and again is well decorated.Food: We shared a mushroom starter. I had a rib-eye steak with chips and my partner had chicken with bubble & squeak. All cooked to perfection and no complaints at all - delicious. Desserts were chocolate torte and cheeseboard - a good selection of tasty cheeses with the usual accompaniments.Drinks: a good wine list and reasonably priced.Cost: including wine and a 10% tip, the total was £89, which I considered good value.Service: efficient and smart.Toilets: clean and well maintained.All-in-all we enjoyed the experience.Congratulations to the proprietors, who went out to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

We visited the Bodkin whilst staying in a house opposite for a hen do, we received a very warm welcome and the open fire was a lovely touch, especially given the weather! The owners were very attentive to us but in no way overbearing, the food was amazing,I think between the party we tried every main on the menu and there wasn't a single complaint about any of the food. Everything was cooked to perfection and we were made to feel very welcome. I would definitely go again if I happened to be in the area!

So we decided at the last minute on Christmas Sunday to give our hosts a break and go out for lunch. Now I know why they could easily accommodate a last minute booking for eight people and a high chair, when every other restaurant in the area was full. But when we arrived they hadn't even made up the table and we had to move our own chairs! Crispy Chicken and Bread Sauce was one of the dishes ordered by two of us. When it arrived there was no bread sauce. Maybe it would arrive separately. Nope. When the waitress asked if we wanted any sauces, we asked where the bread sauce was. "Oh, I don't think we do bread sauce." Even though it is clearly part of the dish and on the menu? The owner arrived and said there is no bread sauce left but would we like stilton sauce instead? With roast chicken? Really? Maybe we should have been told about the lack of bread sauce when we ordered rather than being told it had clearly been misjudged. Eventually, as we'd nearly finished, some parsnips arrived with the words "Here are some extra parsnips for you!" We weren't given any in the first place and these were greasy and soggy. By this time we realised we had made a massive mistake by coming here, so didn't complain about the cold steak, the paucity of chips (probably no more than ten each for those with the steak or fish). One cod was undercooked. To be fair, the rather arrogant and incompetent owner did offer to change the two chicken dishes after they were half eaten and would have replaced the steak had we complained, but by then we just wanted to get out of the place in which you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. I can quite understand why it was overwhelmingly quiet. We did get £25 off the bill but I wish we'd stayed at home and recommend you really don't put yourself through this dreadful experience. Go to the Fawlty Towers experience instead if you want to be treated like a mug by people who clearly have no customer service skills. At least you'd have a laugh!

Have not been here in years, we were given a Groupon Voucher for a two course meal so decided to try it. What a surprise, warm welcome and sat down in lounge for pre dinner drinks and time to study menu, spoilt for choice. Almost everything on menu was dishes we loved, decided to have the Mussels and Pate for starters and steaks for mains. Starters were excellent and steaks were to die for, best we've eaten out in a long time, cooked to perfection. We were not rushed so relaxed and enjoyed our first two courses. The voucher was only for two courses but after seeing the pudding menu just couldn't resist, everything was home cooked we had the Banoffi Tart and Apple and cherry shortbread crumble, they were delicious and large portions at that.Food here is what you would expect at a fine dining restaurant in a large city. Will be back, vouchers or no vouchers!

Had the private room for a family birthday party. Excellent!Starters all came out at the same time and everyone loved them, same for the main, staff checked we were all ok etc. Desserts were good but not as good as the first two courses, but not bad, but maybe an area they can build on. It certainly didn't dampen the evening or mood at all. Great venue has a lovely bar and you can see the owners are hands on and take pride in the venue. Upbeat intelligent staff and as I said food was excellent! Especially when they had a full restaurant AND another bigger private party in another room, most impressed, so many places full apart when stretched but Bodkin kept it together. About the 5th time there and it's good every time. If I lived in the area I would go even more!

Just had a family lunch of 11 of us. The service was impeccable, the variety of food on offer was sufficient and different from usual pub fayre with very tasty curries. Biryani was full of flavour, with good vegetarian and children's options. Trad Sunday lunch excellent with fresh veg. The staff were so friendly and attentive on what was a very busy day. Decor and cleanliness tip top. A real pleasure, we were looked after very well from start to finish. Prices reasonable too, although the desserts may need to be rebalanced between cost and quantity. A lovely lunch for all. Thank you. Steve + 10

Take a punt on the Grumpy Griffin. It might be your lucky day but then again you might regret it. A mixed set of results from customers. Mine was negative. No real ale. Only a few peeps on Sunday mid-afternoon and one was drunk as a Lord and seemingly spoiling for trouble. Background music was fine. Quality tv showing a premiership game. Just cider, lager and Guinness on tap. Feels like a local pub where others are not made welcome.
