Stayed here whilst we went to a wedding close by at the medieval hall nearby. The check in was swift and easy. Bed was very nice and comfortable. The highlight for us was the all you can eat breakfast next morning. You could have cereal or full English breakfast all very nice.

Arriving soon after 6.00 on a Sunday evening after a 280 mile journey we opted to "eat in" on the first night of our stay at the Samlesbury Hotel. Had we not been elsewhere on business over the following two days, nothing would have stopped us from eating here each night...... ......The deceptively simple menu offers something for everyone and if all dishes are as good and well presented as the ones that we had here then this is a highly recommendable eating place and offers fair value. Due to being tempted by the choice of a group at the next table we decided to share the superb fish platter for a starter - in all honesty we would have been quite happy having one each as a main course. Served with home made Marie Rose and tartare sauces, plus a delicious smoked mackerel pate, the deep fried squid, battered prawns and smoked mackerel was served with fresh buttered granary bread and a side salad. My main course was shouilder of lamb, served unusually in a square block, I have had more tender and tasty l;amb elsewhere, but it was acceptable - if not served pink enough for my taste. My wife declaired her goat's cheese "super-salad" to be excellent. Service was surprisingly swift, friendly and professional throughout, I was particularly impressed to discover that de-caffienated espresso was available from the bar too. At £53 without alcahol this was not a cheap two course meal, but it did represent fair value considering the service and surroundings.

Gran selección de desayuno Inglés o Continental. Comida bien presentada, caliente y sabrosa.

Nice clean hotel. Staff were friendly. No hair dryer in the room, called down to reception and it was brought up within 5 minutes. Food was nice. Would stay here again.

This is now The Samlesbury Hotel and we went for afternoon tea which was very nice and very tasty indeed, the staff were very good and they didn't mind when I asked for extra coffee which is a refreshing change as usually you would be charged extra at other establishments.

A great way to catch up with friends. The afternoon tea was truly scrumptious as was the 'fizz' we had a small child with our adult party and they accommodated him brilliantly. ALL the staff were faultless, we were cheeky & asked for a tour. It is great , worth a visit. My only disappointment the orange light fitting in the function room / personal taste/ can see it clashing with brides/functions colour schemes.

Have attended an annual evening function (dinner) at this Hotel for a number of years, and have never been disappointed with the quality of food and service. I think the Hotel benefits from having long serving staff who know the ropes - the Manager has certainly been there a number of years and is very much customer oriented. Ambience and value for money very good. No problem in recommending for any sort of event.

The food here was very good, good service, we both had soup, then I had the Cumberland sausage my husband had chicken, then I had ice cream and he had lemon meringue. This was a set meal which we had paid for in with our nights stay at the hotel. Very good value for money.

Was astounded that if you book the B+B rate in winter they throw in dinner free . Bearing that in mind, no complaints whatever. Service was prompt (except for a delay in bringing wine to the table), and friendly. Food was all freshly prepared and cooked. Presentation was pretty good too.Breakfast the following morning was a fairly standard Full English, with eggs replenished regularly. The only disappointment is there is no natural light, so it all feels a bit claustrophobic.

We had only paid £23 each for DBB so to be given such marvellous food was a real bonus. According to the menu we would've been £22 just for the meal and I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay that though. The menu gave a choice of 3 starters/ 3 mains and 4 desserts along with a choice of specials. I had well presented melon with forest fruit coulis , then venision ragout which was delicious. The carrot cake was a huge slice and hubby was well satisfied with his baked goats cheese, pork loin and trio of ice cream. We stayed here 3 nigts and each meal wa lovely. The staff couldn't have been nicer even carefully seating us well away from a rather vocal fellow guest whose voice boomed out talking trivia incessantly! Breakfast was very ggod too. My only criticism is that the bread supplied for the toaster seems to be a very cheap loaf and had to be put through the toaster twice. Toast brought with the tea and coffee would be much better.

I liked the variety of the menu. I am a really pickky eater, but could find somehthing each night. One night I did not want a sweet, so I asked if I could have menon, which was a starter, no problems.

The lady who served us had only been there less than a week, wish her well but there's no food being served at the moment and pub a bit run down.
