Restaurant at Shibden Mill Inn in Calderdale

We visited for the first time for a family members birthday lunch. The staff were incredibly attentive from the start, we asked to sit outside because it was really warm in the restaurant and staff brought us pillows and blankets to sit outside. The outdoor seating area also has parasols and heating so it was really comfortable sitting out there. The interior was absolutely beautiful, lovely historic building, and the outside was just as lovely. The waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu and really sweet, he couldn't do enough for us. The food WOW....The Caesar cabbage was delicious, the lamb was the best I've had in years. My aunty loved her pie too. All the ingredients were really fresh and everything tasted great. We'll definitely be coming back, we've already planned the next 2 visits!

I recently visited Shibden Mill Inn and had a wonderful experience. The pub has a cozy, charming atmosphere with beautiful rustic decor. It's tucked away in a peaceful countryside setting, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious, with a great selection of local dishes. Highly recommend if you're looking for a warm, welcoming pub with stunning surroundings!

We visited for Sunday lunch and ate in the upstairs dining room which, for dining, we prefer to the bar areas downstairs. The meal was excellent with a good choice on the set menu of 2 or 3 courses. We both decided to have just mains and dessert and are glad we did as it's unlikely we could have managed 3 courses! The place was quite busy but we weren't rushed by the waitresses who were lovely and attentive throughout. This is a great place to visit tucked away in a delightful location - highly recommended.

My meal was delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly and the accompaniments were very tasty. It was a substantial serve and we could not fit in another course, but we suspected that when we ordered. The service was friendly, knowledgable and efficient. My pre dinner drink - an espresso martini was delicious also. The ambiance of this historical setting added to a great experience. We also spent the night at Shibden Mill Inn. The room was very comfortable and we had an accessible bathroom which looked brand new. Staff were excellent in this area as well. Overall a wonderful visit.

Very good food... good atmosphere... good service... it was excellent. It is in the middle of nowhere though so either arrange to stay or have a taxi worked out.

Dining on a Saturday night at a well supported & recommended local restaurant, what could go wrong? Service was very very slow, we waited nearly 45mins for some courses. The venue apologised, citing a dumb waiter breakdown but did nothing to remedy. Main courses arrived looking & feeling like they’d been held under a hot plate for a while. The food was OK, but the dining room chilly. Having dined here before, we knew we’d had much better of everything - service, food, environment and ultimately enjoyment. Hence we were underwhelmed.

A friend and I decided on the tasting menu. What an absolute delight. Wonderful textures and flavours. There wasn’t anything put in front of me that I didn’t think wow. The waiting staff were brilliant. Friendly and professional. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable and completely unpretentious. What a local gem.

Absolutely lovely evening at the Shibden Mill Inn. It's so cosy, beautifully decorated, very comfortable, warm and welcoming on a chilly evening. The menu choices suited us both and we both thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We have visited before and always choose the inn for a special occasion, which this was, and we're never disappointed. Many thanks to all the staff involved in making the evening a success.

The food and service was brilliant. We had such a lovely donner and the surroundings are warm and cosy so the absolute ideal location at the moment. We will absolutely be going again and have already recommended to others.

Staff are very polite friendly and attentive and made our evening . The restaurant is very cosy with an open fire and beams . The food and drinks were top notch and the staff sorted out a taxi to take us back to our hotel after our meal. I will be visiting again !

Lovely overnight stay here for my husbands birthday . The food and drink was first class , both evening meal and breakfast .The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable , there are interesting places and lovely walks from the door .

I stayed at this hotel, and so decided to try the restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic! The food was really well presented. Taste wise, the food was out of this world, one of the best meals I have had in many a year. Wines served were also of exceptional quality. A particular highlight for me personally was the choice of cheese available as a tasting plate for dessert. Highly recommended, and I look forward to going back again soon.

Heard and read so much about this resteraunt, but was disappointed. My food was barley warm, me personally like my food piping hot but my food was barley warm. I had the feathered beef which was again just warm, it was quite salty ok for me but my husband and mother inlaw left quite alot of their meat. I also didn't feel it was value for money. On my plate was a piece of feathered beef, half a small carrot with some kind of crumb on the top. A small dish with potatoes and cheese on the top, a thimble full of gravy and a couple of blobs of sauce and onions. Anyone with a decent appetite would not be full after this meal. £2pp for a small bread roll with butter is a bit ott. I also had a dessert cocktail, a Martini Esspresso at a cost of £9.50. Wow when it came I was very disappointed. It came in a very small aperitifs glass. The haddock and chips were apparently ok. The desserts were ok, nothing special as were the starters. The nibbles on the menu were different but a tad expensive for what you were given. So I personally was very disappointed especially when the bill was over £250 for 6 people.

Shibden Mill Inn is without doubt the best restaurant by a mile in Yorkshire. It’s not just the food, which incidentally is excellent, but it’s the staff, the atmosphere, the ambience, the environment and the building itself, all add up to a good night out!!!...
