Rendezvous Coffee Bar in Mendip

No salad on a Monday lunchtime? I wanted a chicken caesar salad but ended up with a tuna melt panini instead which was tasty enough but nothing special. Staff were ok service pretty quick but wouldn't rush back

I have been in this coffee shop in the afternoon in september. I have order an americano And a oreo tiffin . I have told the lady behind the counter which slice i would prefer where she answered “ its all the same “ with such a rude face . I said i believe u but i would like the one with an oreo bits on it. The whole young owner bunch made me feel uncomfortable , I have never felt so uncomfortable in a coffee shop. They have been shouting to each other and being so busy gossiping instead of looking after their customers . The owners shouldn’t have to be there cause they are creating unpleasant experience ...

Sometimes the staff are friendly and sometimes not so friendly. The coffee is very good and the variety of cakes is excellent except for the fact that the cakes are usually not covered to preserve them from drying out as one walks right pass them to the upstairs dining area.

Called in for a light lunch Up the stairs to the main seating area Given time to look at the menu;s on the table, and specials on the blackboard Order taken for food and drinks promptly Drinks arrived shortly after My wife ordered Jacket Potato with cheese and coleslaw, and for me I tried the fishcakes and chips special on the board. Food was served in a reasonable timeframe My fishcakes looked home made, and were very good indeed. Chips slight flavour of oil in them but nice and crispy, and piping hot Jacket pot was of a good size all in all meal and drinks for 2 at £13 well impressed, and all appear cooked in house with friendly staff Shame no drinks licence, would have given it an extra edge

I came in to the cafe, asked for MENU 3 times and was completely ignored. While waiting for it, headed to the bathroom. Suddenly heard shouting behind me. The 2 ‘ladies’ running the cafe run after me and shouted that I can’t use the bathroom until I order. And I mean, shouted with hate and anger face. I said, I was waiting for them to show me the menu and will order in a moment, as very hungry. Still- the shouting continued. I couldn’t bare their rude, stressed and shouty behavior. Headed across the road to a lovely little cafe called TIME FOR TEA- what a difference!!! Happy faces, welcoming atmosphere. Beautiful back patio In the sun. Just skip RANDEZVOUS and head straight to TIME FOR TEA :)

Took mother for a treat and we had a lovely lunch. Nice quality, good value. Cream tea was perfect. Scones all gone in my tummy, yummy!

We were in Street on a day visit and Rendezvous was our choice for Breakfast.......and a great choice it was. Good service and lovely fresh food from an extensive Menu. Reasonably Priced and Free WiFi makes Rendezvous the perfect location for Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch or Afternoon Tea.

We found a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. Sadly the service was lacking. A small wait to be served, incorrect order and no check in to see if we were happy. And no serviettes provided which was a bit odd. When I mentioned the wrong order when paying I did get a sorry, which wasnt reflected in the managers face 😬 Nice quality and quantity of food though 👍

Stopped in here by chance whilst on a bike ride from Bristol to Exmouth and it was a happy accident! Great value for our coffee and toasted tea cake (which was a particular highlight) and the other cakes for sale looked super tasty as well. We'll definitely be coming back again with the bikes on our regular rides around Somerset.

Looking at the reviews on here all I can say is that they must have had an off day when we were there. As my daughter and me ordered ham eggs and chips. The eggs looked like they had been cooked in dirty oil when I commented on this the girl said it was because they were done on the griddle on which all the other items were cooked. To me that means it needs to be cleaned before eggs are cooked on it, or cook eggs on a separate source.

Tasty fudge cake, buttery biscuits, great coffee, friendly staff. Only niggle served cake on serviette. Hubby's pet hate. Otherwise it would have been a perfect score.

I organized a day trip to clarks village for me and three girlfriends. I looked online at places to eat and reviews as i didn't want to eat in any of the big food chains. This cafe from the outside was not what i expected, nor was the many stairs inside as its on different levels. It is table service and was a good little menu where three of us had baked potato and i had the fantastic pancakes with maple syrup and fruit. We all enjoyed our lunch,food was hot well presented and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and happy to help with any questions about the food. We will all take the short walk to eat in here in future. My only comment would be if you're having flowers on your table they need to get changed more often to keep them fresh.

Visited this place for breakfast. We were the first people in. Firstly it took a while for our order to be taken. Instead we listened to female staff discussing their weekend antics in the kitchen ! We had to ask for the music to be turned down as it was too loud ! The floor was filthy from previous days. Also we noticed crumbs were still on the cake trays on display presumably from the weekends trading.... ! Breakfast was ok waiter forgot to bring our water. I had the healthy breakfast funny really the mushrooms were deep fried !! I appreciate this was a Monday morning but please.....Overall Not a very good experience and we certainly will not be returning.

Deceptively larger inside than appears from the outside with ample seating available. Lovely breakfast, good service and excellent value for money! Will definitely visit again!

Very hard to fault! Good simple food at a very good price. Best BLT on granary for a long time. Nice jacket potato with homemade coleslaw. Coffee that didn't need sugar!! Excellent .😁

Great fresh sandwiches and lunch menu with all-day breakfasts and afternoon tea. Staff very friendly and accommodating . Also do good take-away sandwiches which are great value and ultra-fresh.

Great food, great prices all prepared and served by extremely aesthetically pleasing ladies. Eat in or take away, and at Christmas you will even see the odd hog or two.

El Rendezvous bar Café es, de lejos, el mejor lugar en la zona para ir para un excelente desayuno consistente hemos estado yendo allí por unos meses, y la comida ha sido excelente, así como el saludo que desde el excelente personal de Becky y Sam.

Vine aquí para el almuerzo, un lugar muy limpio y la comida era estupenda. También tienen una tienda situada al otro lado de la carretera.

You wouldn't think you could ruin a coffee and hot crossed bun, but they can here. A Luke warm coffee and a soggy hot crossed bun with a scrapping of some sort of spread ( surely a bit of butter wouldn't be difficult). Also the cafe is linked to the deli across the road which had some interesting cakes in the window which is why we thought we would try the cafe. Definitely won't risk the cafe or deli again.

Have visited Rendezvous before , always had good service and decent food , at reasonable prices.Visited again today , different story.Entered café to see young girl leaning on kitchen top texting. She ignored me and then one of the two lads sitting drinking jumped up with his drink came round to the counterFinished his drink in front of me then asked me what l wanted.I ordered and went to sit upstairs, the lad said he would bring my order up to me.I was checking and sending texts suddenly realised nearly 20 minutes had passed.I was the only customer in the shop . Two new customers then came upstairs and the lad came up to take their order , as he passed me he said " your order will be with you very soon"10 minutes later nothing had arrived so l packed up , went downstairs and asked for my money back as l couldn't wait any longer.The young girl on the till said , sorry your order wasn't written down.Another lady was standing at the kitchen counter behind staring at me .I could understand more if they were busy , but they were not !All in all a disappointing experience which could have easily been avoided by better customer service.

I was in town with a few mates and we decided to get some food! Rendezvous was perfect with great service, food and coffee. Its a great place to meet with friends and would definately recommend it to anyone in street!

I go into this establishment every Wednesday and most Saturdays. I have found the management and staff to be both helpful and pleasant. Indeed they now know me so well that my drink is in front of me as i sit down. Excellent service with a smile. Meals are plentiful and delicious. Well done.

As a family we meet each week in Rendezvous cafe. The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. The food is always hot and fresh. As regulars, we strongly recommend you give it a go.

The café has a great breakfast menu which seemed to be good value. Sadly the pancakes I ordered (with bacon) were very burnt and rubbery. As the only customer in the cafe at the time of ordering, I can only assume the young members of staff (one also simultaneously looking after her young daughter) knew the quality of the food they were serving. Being so hungry, I just asked for extra maple syrup and ate what I could. When the staff member came to collect the plate, I shared that the food was badly burnt. She would have also been able to see this herself with over half of it left on the plate. She replied that she would let the staff know, and then asked if I would like anything else. I wasn't sure if this would be complimentary as an apology, so I said No. On leaving the café, the 3 staff members were chatting with a male friend at the counter, despite the café having gained more customers. Looking at the other reviews, I can only assume the incident was bad luck for myself. However, I was very disappointed with what I felt was an unprofessional experience, provided by inexperienced workers.

Best cafe in street, amazing value for money great portion. Jacket potatoes are a must here. The service is great they also have an outside area to eat in the summer.

Popped in to Rendezvous Coffee Bar before shopping at Clarks Village. What a lovely reception we received from very friendly staff. We enjoyed breakfast and two fantastic lattes, right temperature and you could taste the coffee rather than just a cup of hot milk!! We would definitely recommend it.

Popped in for lunch, superb quality food served with a smile, would definitely recommend for a good selection on the lunch menu, will use again when in Street.

We looked for sandwiches for lunch last Friday and we saw the deal sandwich and crisps and a hot drink for £5, we did not know what to expect but the sandwiches were freshly made and we could choose our own crisps.The lady's were very friendly and made us feel at home we will definitely be going back when we are next in Street.

I went in yesterday morning just expecting your average breakfast, but this is not what I encountered. The amazing service, especially the two young lads, just topped off the perfect restaurant i have been in in a long while.

I went in the cafe last Saturday with my husband. Only expecting the bog standard coffee and breakfast. But my word was I wrong! The young boys service was outstanding and showed real true maturity. On top of all this the chefs cooking was simply perfect. I 100% recommend this coffee bar to anyone and everyone looking for a tasty meal. I'll definitely be returning.

I have been a frequent visitor to the Rendezvous Coffee Bar and fortunately was present when an incident occurred,over missing knives from some soup and a roll a simple mistake from the staff but not traumatic.There are ways to report a deficiency to a waitress but the manner which was used was aggressive,rude and embarrassing to those of us enjoying our meal.They apparently enjoyed their food but still wanted to make their feelings known to the owner.What followed was totally unacceptable behaviour from the couple and the owner did well to contain it whilst trying to make sure they left the premises.After a very heated exchange the couple left,the elderly left first followed by the younger one,the owner then released the door catch.I don't think I have ever witnessed such an unpleasant person complaining,but just as I was beginning to relax again the door slammed open, appearing back inside still shouting and verbally abusing every one.I don't like being called a drop out,I like to think I am a successful business man.The women became very aggressive and the owner stopped her on the stairs.She raised her hand and I honestly thought she was going to hit the owner.In order to protect herself and her customers she made sure left the premises.Unfortunately the woman had left a bag inside which prompted a further visit,fearing another altercation the owner threw the bag at the women.I hope their CCTV was working.Keep up the good work,for you are doing a fantastic job, all of the other reviews reflect this! I will definitely be returning and will carry on to recommend.

Went for a dinner in here only to be assaulted by the owner because we complained about a member of staff, she would not listen to our complaint properly, kept talking over us so as you can imagine the complaint became quite heated.We were told we were liars and asked to leave.On leaving i had the door slammed into my back, by the owner, i went back to to say something and i got physically pushed out of the door and all this was done in front of an 80 year old lady.When i went back because my mother had left her shopping there, it was thrown at me.If i owned a coffee shop i would never in a million years argue with customers in front of my staff and in front of other customers whom we think were family or friends, we used this coffee shop in the past and found it to be a lovely place but now we have found out that it is under new management, this is why it has changedThey are rude and aggressive, i have reported it to the police and she is now being charged!!! Oh and waited 25 mins for soup that was only being heated in the microwave, and was tasteless, restaurant almost empty, now i know whyAvoid like the plague!

I went in the other day whilst visiting the area. It is on thw main high street so easily accessible. They were lovely staff in there, they made me exactly what i wanted. The food was reasonably priced but great quality. I really enjoyed it.

Street can be tricky when you want excellent coffee, a peaceful place to work and wifi. Rendezvous does fab coffee, plus free wifi and friendly service. The burger menu looks good too!

Had a delicious breakfast snack here this morning! Service really great, friendly and quick! The drinks were great and the snacks very tasty!! Lovely courtyard area out the back. Will definitely return!!

Protein pancakes with bacon and a full English for us. It was delicious and served by very friendly staff. This may be our new local breakfast destination.

I went to this coffee bar for lunch today with a friend and left feeling very satisfied and impressed. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure we had all we needed - we were served by a nice young lad called Jake who was very polite and helpful. The food was to a very high standard, well presented and tasted great. I had the Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Sauce Panini and a fresh fruit smoothie - both highly recommended. My friend had the Leek and Potato Soup with a warm crusty roll - she was also impressed with hers. I will be returning next time I'm in the area.

We went for breakfast here and was pleased to see healthy choices on the menu, I had protein pancakes and my partner had bacon and egg on ciabatta. Lovley food, and great service with a smile

Had lunch in this delightful café today served by two very friendly and welcoming staff, The food excellent well worth a visit would highly recommend.

A delicious afternoon tea of smoked salmon sandwiches, scones with clotted cream/jam and lemon drizzle cake plus a large pot of tea. Excellent value for money and served by two extremely pleasant and helpful waitresses. We will definitely make a return visit to the Cafe when we next come to Street.

This is genuinely one of the best places to eat in town, I eat here most mornings and love it! Their tagline is correct.

Took the children for lunch here today. We greeted with smiling faces when we entered and were also helped getting the pushchair up the stairs. Service was brilliant and also liked the fact they did the children's food first so they didn't have to wait longer. The food was lovely and well worth the price. Would recommend this place to everyone the staff were lovely, efficient and polite. Will defiantly be going here again :)

I came in with 3 friends for lunch, when i walked in they seated me straight away and took my order a few mins later, great service and all very welcoming staff, they do one of the best burgers going!!!

Waited for 20 minutes and when no staff appeared we walked out. Staff didn't even acknowledge us on the way out.

Came here for lunch with 3 young children. Couldn't fault the service, it was excellent. The kids meals were great with good sized portions. All in all a very good experience and reasonably priced too.

I went in there expecting nothing more than just something quick to eat. The service was incredibly friendly and the quality of the food was more than we expected, with lots of great choice and a roast on Sundays! Ideal for breakfast if you're visiting Clarks' village as its just step around the corner onto the high street for a lovely meal in this individual non-chain cafe. Well worth a visit....... and indulging in a homemade cake!

It made a refreshing change to be served by someone (mum) who would converse with you and not just grunt or not speak at all. We just had soup and a roll and coffee's, which were all excellent, the soup (choice of five different soups) was homemade as were all the other choices. We observed two other meals being served to customers and they looked delicious as well. Wish you all success in the future you deserve to do well.

Having met friends in Street we decided it was time for a snack and went into Rendezvous Coffee Bar.The staff were exceptional and all was good humoured banter.The food and service were excellent and what a wonderful team.Will be back in the future.

We arranged a Big Breakfast at the Rendezvous Coffee Bar for our monthly breakfast club. The staff were excellent & looked after us very well. Good humour,prompt & efficient service & the breakfast food was of a very high quality. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Huge portion for the breakfast, I had a medium and WOW.Not a long wait, friendly staff. tasty local produce,lovely coffee, highly recommended.

We've been to this cafe a number of times and spent well over£50 altogether on our visits.The breakfast is very good. On this occasion no one in the cafe except some teenagers on the middle landing stood around a table making it difficult to walk up the stairs. I ordered a latte and asked for a small jug of hot milk to keep my coffee hot and prolong my potential stay. Coffee and small jug( and I mean small jug)arrived too. I sat upstairs listening to the ins and outs of adolescent torment regarding boys and the wish of one the friends down stairs needing a cigarette. Somebody sneezed three times and at no point did anyone get up and wash their hands so hoping they weren't the cook!!On paying, the female young teenager decided it was OK to charge 50p for the small jug of milk.That's over 25% of the cost of the coffee........ staggering. As someone who enjoyed going there with my wife it was short sighted of you to charge me for the milk. We were regulars too like a previous customers. You need to train your young inexperienced staff in the art of good communication and customer service.

Popped in after a coach journey, for a coffee and half of a delicious and warm cheese scone with a friend. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Enjoyed the visit very much.

We visited the retail outlet but were not prepared to wait in long ques for over priced food, instead a short walk to the high sreet we found Rendeezvous. Very friendly staff fantastic food excellent service very very good value for money, FAB FAB FAB

My wife and I visited Street , recently , and happened upon this restaurant . As I have heart problems and Parkinson's , I often use my mobility scooter , I was permitted to take my scooter inside !! Looking at the specials board , there was Chicken Curry , served with naan bread and mango chutney on offer , among an array of tempting choices . We chose the curry and a pot of tea for two . A cheerful and attentive waitress took our order , and our tea arrived in double quick time !! With our tea came some home made biscuits , which , quite candidly , tasted excellent . As did our tea !! The food arrived , after a short while . Served , to my wife ' s utter delight , on hot plates !! We tucked in to our curry with gusto . It was absolutely delicious !! The portions were ample , and we were both comfortably full . We , regrettably , opted to forgo the varied selection of sweet courses on offer , but , I am certain that each choice would be amazing !!

We are really hard to please but lunch was fabulous. Jacket spud done in the oven as asked ( no spud should be microwaved...ever) and plenty of filling and a lovely salad garnish. I actually felt like I'd been fed. Very friendly approachable staff, nothing the bother. We sat outside back which looks a little tired but food made up for anything that wasnt great. The sun was shining and it felt like eating on the rooftops in Seville.

The meal was amazing! The atmosphere was amazing! It is easy to talk to the staff there, the generous meal portions mean for a full belly afterwards! Also, it is very cheap, compared to the other restaurant that sit around the average meal being £6-7, this place offers great meals for almost half the price!Definitely reccommend!

Really close to the village and easy to find but a little quieter, but it really shouldn't be. Lovely place, great food, extensive choice and friendly service. Good portion sizes and served hot. We will be heading there again.

Excellent traditional English breakfast, generous proportions, well cooked, reasonable price. The premises are beautifully clean, the staff courteous and friendly. We will definitely remember this one when we next visit Street.

Outward appearance hides a little gem if you are looking for great food at remarkably good prices. Partner had a savoury Somerset tea, portions were very generous and definitely homemade. I went for the chicken panini and exactly the same comments, so nice to have a seeded panini as a pleasant change. By the way homemade shortbread biscuits, done this morning, were to die for and can be bought also. London cafes and restaurants need to come visit to see what real quality and service looks like. Will be back.

The Everyday Breakfast at this bright, clean but small coffee bar on the High Street would be hard to beat. For £5.95 you get two fried eggs, two rashers of cured bacon, two sausages, two hash browns, tomato, mushrooms and a pot of baked beans, all freshly cooked and perfectly served. Great value!

A very, very megere portion of soup for a regular customer!!!! When challenged the staff offered to give more soup, which would be at extra cost (really). On speaking with the owner about this, who became quite difficult, the basic understanding and principles of good customer service are clearly not understood. For the sake of an extra ladel of soup for one of your regulars customers it really worth it?

Hit up Rendezvous for a cooked breakfast [they serve it all day which is good because we went around 13:00] as other cafe's in Street might do a cooked breakfast but either not all day long, or the breakfast itself is a bit poor so we thought we'd try Rendezvous.Super impressive choice on the menu, really friendly staff and the place itself looked nice and clean. We sat out the back on the patio which was quite a sun trap even in early October, lovely and warm.We both opted for full english - I went for the Jumbo with my partner picking the Everyday. When they arrived there was only one word for it - "Blimey!". Both of us agreed it was easily the best breakfast we've had in Street and the portion was so generous we could easily each have dropped one notch down the menu and still had plenty.Well cooked and good value. We'll definitely be back and won't just be sticking to breakfast as the menu offered a large variety of dishes whatever you fancy. If I had to pick any minus points then I'd say it was the fact that the breakfast didn't come with tea/coffee - you had to order this separately. I guess that's fair enough as some people might just want tea/coffee, but maybe it could get thrown in with a breakfast? Don't be misled though, I've only included that mention as otherwise this review will probably sound like I work there or own the place or something as it's too good! In summary then, a great cafe with a good range of all sorts served up by friendly staff in a nice clean and welcoming premises. Much better than the other cafe's in Street, definitely check it out.

Went here for breakfast and was really impressed. Has bagel with scrambled eggs and bacon. Delicious. Husband had healthy breakfast two thick slices ham with poached eggs. Can highly recommend. Nice patio out the back too.

Looking for a home cooked breakfast and nearly walked by, the outside belies the good food and surroundings when you go inside and upstairs. Excellent food and the home baked cookies that come with the coffee an added touch that are hard to resist and taste delicious. Will certainly be going again.

My visits here are regular and I always get great service, perfect food and sensible prices. The service is friendly but not obtrusive, the food selection is not extensive but everything is home made and cooked very well, and the price is great for lunch.

We stumbled across this lovely little cafe when the place we intended to go was full, but I am glad it was!Reasonable prices and good size portions make this somewhere well worth eating at. We have visited many cafés in Street for lunch, both corporate and independent, and this is by far the best. The café had a nice feel to it and was clean and tidy with in and outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was good quality and very reasonable. Two of us had lunch and a drink for £10. They'd used local bread and meat and the sandwich was packed full and tasty. Service could perhaps have been a little quicker but apart from that it was all great and we'll be returning to work our way through the varied menu. Thank you .

We popped in to the Rendezvous cafe this Sunday just gone and we were very impressed. The service was excellent, they were very friendly and accommodating to what we wanted. The choice on the menu is great including some protein specific options for those of you who are a little more health conscious! For those of us that aren't so, I highly recommend the Oreo chocolate truffle brownie, delicious! We would highly recommend this cafe and will definitely be returning!

We were greeted by Abby (the owner) who gave us a menu to choose from and pointed out to us what we could have. The food was fabulous, freshly cooked and plenty of it! The overall atmosphere was really good and the service first class,All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and had time to help when required.I would definitely visit this establishment again whenever I went to Street.To coin a Welsh phrase - it was really tidy!!!

The attention to detail in this fine establishment is first class. If you're looking for a café that tries and succeeds then you've found it. The coffee signature said "enjoy" and we did. Very well done.

I decided to try something else on the appetising menu other than the brilliant fried breakfast which I have every time I visit! I tried the banoffee waffles and they were absolutely amazing! Full of flavour and very more-ish! I am a regular here and id definitely recommend Rendezvous to anyone!

Called here about a year ago, previous owners and were not over impressed, but so glad that we tried it again, now with a new, young and enthusiastic owner/chef. The food was excellent with imagination, and we are now looking forward to call again soon to try so many of the other temptations on the menu. Definitely now the place to go when visiting Street High Street, and only 50 yards from Clark s Village.

Just thought I'd try this place for lunch, what a fantastic place, lovely friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. The lunch I had was absolutly fantastic, presented beautifully and more than enough to feed the hungriest of people. It was busy bit I didnt have to wait long for my lunch to arrive.Well done to all - certainly a place I will revisit and recommend to all my friends.

I visit rendezvous 2-3 times a week for my lunch and breakfast. Toasted sandwiches are amazing and so tasty, English breakfast and hot drinks are faultless. Can't wait to try more things from the menu. Great service and friendly staff.

This is the place to eat in Street! Delicious toasted sandwiches with fresh salad and crisps, impeccably served. Friendly and courteous staff and a delightful venue. We will definitely come here again.

Came here on bank holiday Monday for breakfast, freshly cooked and very nice. Service was good, constructive feedback would be one of the team was dressed as if she was going to the beach, great if it's a beachside cafe, but it's not. Other than that would definitely go back.
