Avoid over priced and average food. On ordering drinks and food was presented with the bill and a service charge of £12.00 was added without my consent! sharp practice before you have even had your dining experience, that's more like an American dinner than a restaurant if I had known this would never have booked it. Starters. I had Scallops not fresh and very small like the frozen ones you get from an Asian cash and carry just very average. The prawns in chilli sauce also just average the sauce not anything special. Mains. My partner had surf and turf Ribeye steak and half Lobster she was content with that but nothing special had far better. Chips very average mass catering product not made fresh. I ordered a 10oz Fillet steak medium the steak was shaped like a fist, I started eating the steak around the edges first, when I got more into the middle of the steak lots of blood I had to soak it up with a serviette. How can you cook a steak evenly that is that shape. I called the server over and she agreed it wasn't cooked medium she took the food away and took advice from the chef/owner. On her return I was advised I could have a free drink and they would put the steak back on the grill. I had refused this, as it had put me off eating it, but more seriously they were prepared to put a half consumed steak back on the grill, really! wow just wow that they were prepared to even suggest that breaking food safety rules, and yes this will be reported to Environmental Health Protection. The server asked me what I wanted I asked her to knock the price of my steak off the bill she went back to the Chef/owner and he refused that, and said that he would knock £15.00 off the bill because the steak had been half eaten. I said "fine but I wish to speak to him in person" he refused this twice as I wished to raise my concerns over food safety. The restaurant was not full and their was plenty of staff working so it doesn't wash with me that he was to busy to speak to me. For me the arrogance of just hiding behind the server and front of house manager for the sake of £15.00 I wasn't even offered another steak. The reason for this review is because as an owner he should have addressed my concerns and try to resolve this to my satisfaction. Toilets. The men's room the hand dryer wasn't working and no paper towels to dry your hands on. The server offered me a refund on the service charge that I excepted and on leaving the restaurant I gave her a £20.00 tip as I felt that she had tried her best for us. Theirs a principle here it was the arrogance of the owner not to work with me to resolve this, wasn't looking for a free steak just one that is cooked properly in a steak house I gave the server more than what he offered me for substandard food. A disappointing dinning experience beware!

Called on the way to the Ferry Terminal. Greeted by a very helpful Front of House who managed to squeeze us in without a booking. It was a Sunday and very busy. We chose the carvery which was tasty , fresh & plentiful and served to us by two very pleasant Chefs. Excellent value for money and would certainly call again on our next visit to Portsmouth.

Oh dear. We really don't like giving negative reviews, but a huge thumbs down here. The service was good; that's because we were the only ones there. The food was OK for a fast food restaurant, but not for somewhere with a supposedly good reputation. For example, the fries served with the chicken were just like Tesco frozen chips that had been chucked into the deep fat fryer. The chicken was rubbery and the steak really fatty. We were going to let this go until we realised that we have been grossly overcharged. On phoning up, they even admitted to adding thing on "by mistake." The manager I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude and had no telephone presence at all, insisting on keeping calling me love. The saddest of all was that guests to our wedding paid for us to have a meal out, and I know how hard they work for their money. But lesson learned, and if anyone is put off by going here because of my review, then I've succeeded in stopping you from making a big mistake. I'm expecting a rude reply from the owner because not only did he tell me he would, when I tried to discuss this with him, he shouted over me and was quite aggressive.

Well! What can I say about this place…….. Firstly upon looking at the menu you are hit with overpricing! Burgers that you would get elsewhere for £15ish near on £20 here! Maybe they are worth £20 or…. nope they are not! Table was booked for a party of 8 and a £40 deposit taken for the table…… that’s when things got worse…… bearing in mind a deposit had been taken, the entire table had to pay for their meals at time of ordering which when you have 8 people paying individually is an absolute faff! BUT it gets worse…… you then have to pay a service charge! For what? You’ve not been served anything at this stage so thats bang out of order! Food was ok, I had the fish cake but to be honest it was no tastier than the ones from the ‘posh’ range at Sainsbury’s! Needless to say the overall experience wasn’t good at all and I won’t be going back! This place seriously needs to look at all the negative reviews as all the complaints are about the same issues!

We went to celebrate fathers day. We were a large family group of 10. The food was very enjoyable and the serving staff were great. The waitress that mainly dealt with us was an absolute delight, and couldn't have been more helpful. We had just been given our dessert menu, and ordered another round of drinks when we were told, quite rudely, by an older lady that we had to be out in fifteen minutes. We had not been informed at any point that there was a time limit. Also we had to pay for our food before we got it, because the restaurant had experienced 'lots of runners'. All in all our dining experience (at a cost of over £300) was not what we are used to.

This place was a choice by my Son for his 13th birthday, on arrival We had a wait for 5 mins before being seated, Not a very welcoming restaurant, We was showed to our table… waited 10mins for our drink order.. beer and cider choice not great. ordered food, you have to pay upfront, but the put on a service charge. Large family get together to celebrate my grandson due this May. Had a great time! Want to say a big thank you to Laura & Sofia who couldn't have done enough to ensure service was top quality! As far as carvery’s goes this has been one of the best on a Sunday(locally) superb choice of meats , veg always being freshly topped up throughout our visit (sitting at 1430) But for us the thing that made it stand out was the fantastic attention given us by the staff We were lucky to be waited on by a lovely attentive young lady called Sophia and also a ultimate professional girl named Julie Both these ladies went over and above to make this a wonderful afternoon out Also the assistant manager Laura who was very helpful Would we return 100% Thank you

Completely ruined our Valentine's day. Awful experience and would not recommend. Booked in advance, deposit paid. I should have realised things weren't right when they make you pay up front including a service charge (presumptuous, when I've not even started my meal or had any service?!) , they request this after you have ordered your drinks, but BEFORE the first course arrived. My "award winning' blue cheese starter resembled a bowl of vomit. How a decent chef would send something that looked that bad is beyond me!! The cheese was a split, oily mess. There was virtually NO effort placed on making the tables appealing either (it was Valentine's after all!) No ambiance, no candles, no decor, no roses, no low lighting or any sign that it was Valentine's in the restaurant except one helium balloon at the front door. I took one mouthful of my starter and it was the worst ever. That was enough for us. We sent back our plates all but untouched, requested a refund but paid for our drinks. I will say the server was extremely apologetic, it wasn't his fault.. but put in the awful position by the kitchen to present such a mess to a customer- poor guy. Do yourself a favour... Avoid. It's terrible, expensive and tired inside.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Superb value. Best selection of vegetables and meat. 4 meats and 10 different vegetables Chef who was serving was friendly and chatty. Waitress Sophia was lovely. We felt nothing would have been to much trouble. Totally recommend a visit for Sunday lunch. We will be back. .

We’ve been here a number of times and have never had a bad experience. The food is excellent quality and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. You do have to pay up front and I really don’t know why this bothers some people. Sadly they have to do this as certain people will order the most expensive items from the menu,stuff their faces and refuse to pay.

Ordered steak and asked for medium but came very rare and very fatty/poor flavour. My partner had chicken stack which was rubbery and tasted odd. The Belgium waffle was from a packet on par with pound land and again very disappointing. No atmosphere or ambience in the restaurant and very poor quality food for the price so we will not be returning.

Visited for my granddaughters birthday Meal on a Sunday evening. We were the only party dining in the restaurant which felt strange in itself. As we had a 3 year old and a 12 year old with us I doubt we could be viewed as a possible ‘runner’ however we were told on arrival we had to pay upfront for our food? Never ever experienced this before but we went ahead. Even paid the service charge before we actually had any service. The food was plentiful, large portions and everything we ordered was really nice. The waitress was amazing but the venue felt very strange for a large restaurant in Port Solent. Maybe it was empty due to their strange process of wanting payment before eating? Doubt I would return and having read the trip advisor comments today I doubt it will actually survive much longer 🤷♀️

Weird experience. Told we had to pay the bill when ordering, for some reason, which was a strange vibe. We received our starters and within a few minutes, staff started turning up asking if we had finished... No... Clearly still eating. Then another person asked, then another. My friend eventually let them have the plate whilst she was still holding a piece of garlic bread in her hand. It was pretty rude. They then brought out our mains straight away, so we figured someone messed up the timings and instead of remaking the food, they decided to rush us. It's a shame because the food was actually pretty nice - paella a bit mushy but seafood made up for it. But when there were empty tables around us, paying before the meal and being rushed kind of put a dampener on the evening.

I decided to have my family birthday meal at Relentless as I’d never been there before. When I booked this table, I had to pay £5 deposit per head, there was a group of 10 of us (all adults) so I paid £50 up front. We arrived on time for our booking and were seated. We were told immediately after sitting down, that because they had a large dine and dash earlier in the summer that we had to pay upfront for our food. – Though not the norm, we agreed to this without issue. We then continued to give our orders to the server. Shortly after she came back with the card machine to collect payment. As a large group this would take some time as there were several payments to be made. This was already approximately a £400 bill (just starters mains and a drink each). Only a couple of us were left to pay but the server declared to the whole restaurant that there was still £200 left outstanding – This was before she had taken payment from everyone at the table but still caused immediate concern with all of us that there had been a payment issue somewhere along the table. Before we had even had a chance to question this and resolve it our starters began to come out. We hadn’t even paid yet, and our starters were now sat in front of us getting cold while we were trying to sort the payment – even though we were under the understanding that we couldn’t get food until we paid. As this was taking some time to sort, we asked the server if we could eat our starters first and then finish paying as they were sitting in front of most of us getting cold (and especially as over half the table had already paid) and she said “no, I need payment now” Frantically trying to finish the payments and wonder why the outstanding bill was still so much, I can honestly say I’ve never lost my appetite faster in my life. As you can imagine this caused tension, stress and anxiety – This was my birthday meal and the mood had been completely tarnished by this. We asked that the mains NOT be brought out yet as we were still paying and most of us hadn’t even touched our starter. After deliberating between us, we decided that it be best we just leave as this nice family dinner was now a complete disaster – no one wanted to eat any longer and to be honest we couldn’t WAIT to leave. We asked for the manager to come over so we could make our complaint and sort this and get out of there – we very fairly offered to pay for what we had, had even though personally I think we should have been given a full refund. We explained the situation and she went away for some time. She did not give me her name. When she returned, she had the nerve to tell us that the kitchen had already started cooking our mains and strongly suggested that we still have them. We couldn’t understand how if we hadn’t yet paid for our food (as per the restaurant rules) how our food would even be being prepared. Not once did she apologise for anything. I feel she had no idea how to handle this situation at all. We rejected this. She went away again for at least 10 mins. We were sat at the table waiting and wondering what was going on as she didn’t explain to us at all. At this point we had overpaid for what we actually had received so couldn’t just leave. Eventually after waiting and waiting, a couple of us approached the till to ask what was going on – after a lot more waffling and excuses she agreed to refund us the difference we had paid AFTER paying for our starters and drinks. – this was partially refunded to ONE card and then partially cash for some reason and not returned the individual card payments that were made. This not only may be illegal but also left us to manage splitting it amongst ourselves afterwards. We then decided to leave. As we were collecting our coats, upset, annoyed, disappointed, and hungry. The server had the cheek to wish me happy birthday. Weather she meant this sincerely or sarcastically it was extremely distasteful. It wasn’t until the next day that I realized, that when I booked the table, they had taken a £50 deposit from me. Which was NOT included in the refund. So, I had £50 stolen from me by this restaurant also. I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant in my entire life or experienced such poor customer service. I thought I should contact Relentless before writing my review on TripAdvisor to give them the opportunity to respond – I asked for an email to make a formal complaint TWICE and never received a reply. - however they were fast enough to call me and take the deposit payment when I booked the table in the first place. Given their attitude to customer service and clear lack of passion for their business I would be very surprised if they survive 2024. The upper management (who I hope read this) also need to be aware that our bill if we had stayed would have easily come to over £600.

Rude disrespectful Tony, who told me he was management. But assistant manager apologised for his attitude and his behaviour at the way i was treated. TONY is not a manager but dreams of being one. Grandaughter finally got her burger from the chef who also apologised for Tony. Brownie rock hard and tastless. Hot chocolate was discolored water with no taste. All over priced. I really fancied some lobster so gave this place a try. Food was passable although the lobster was overcooked and the fajitas were greasy. The restaurant has an uncomfortable ambience - seems grubby and I was sat staring at a washing machine. Main problem is the upfront payment. This isn't particularly welcome but just about acceptable. What is unforgivable is to add a service charge. Before you've had any service. So... Not great food, unpleasant surroundings and poor service. I've had worse but I won't return. Also... If you style yourself as a steak specialist, learn to spell 'wagyu'.

Looking for a decent roast in Port Solent and opted to visit Relentless for their Carvery. They have a weird system of getting you to pay upfront. However whilst having a carvery I wasn’t expecting a £4 service charge to get my own food and carry back to my table. Every carvery I’ve ever been to have the meat selections laid out separately with a separate carving knife for each type of meat. Not at this venue. The meats were all together with the server wearing black latex gloves picking up different meats and cutting them with the same knife. I had lamb served to me by hand straight on to my plate. Beef and gammon also cut with same knife. Same gloves used to pick up and put yourshire pudding, pig in blanket and stuffing ball on to my plate. Had a pepsi that was flat. But couldn’t be bothered to complain as I had given up by then. Veg was a bit school dinner ish. Can’t recommend this place for a carvery. The meat area sort of resembled a bush-tucker trial.

Lost its way, after many enjoyable expensive evenings. My heart has fallen off a cliff. This has been our favourite restaurant for many years and now following burnt saute potatoes, over cooked steak, though flavourless lobster and oysters with watered down drinks. The whole evening left me dashing for the toilet at 12am onwards. In all what was a great restaurant has thrown it's self off a cliff.

We booked the Sunday carvery lunch as a large group of friends. I was slightly apprehensive after reading the reviews but I needn’t have worried. I cannot comment on the steak or the lobster but the Sunday carvery was absolutely delicious. There was a good choice of meats and sides and reflected good value for money. We had to pay a deposit of £5 per head for our booking as we were such a large group (understandable) but we were not asked to pay anything up front when we arrived and they dealt with the division of the bill between us very well. I would definitely recommend the Sunday carvery!

We had a table booked for 4:30pm for the roast carvery for my birthday for me, my husband and my two children aged 5 and 3 and my gosh I cannot recommend it enough; the food, the service, the staff, UNBELIEVABLE! From the woman who sat us down, the lady who took our orders, the man who served the carvery, every single staff member we had contact with was fantastic. The three meats we had were cooked to perfection, the variety of vegetables was amazing. Just perfect. We are already planning our next visit.

Really good night out! I have to say I was sceptical after reading some other reviews. However... Yes the meals are quite expensive, however they were very good quality and cooked exactly to order. Service was really excellent. Sophia was really friendly and accommodating. She helped with meal recommendations and happy to suggests where amendments were required. She was also very attentive and we were very well looked after. She explained the ordering process fully and about payment upon placing the order. This was all explained and made very clear so no complaints here. Really nice, clean and tidy restaurant, quick service and a great meal out. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending. Lots of other reviews praising Sophia and our experience of her serving us was faultless! Thank you

3rd time visiting this restaurant, the first 2 times were a few years ago and enjoyable. This visit was horrendous, the waitress was quite rude, a friend wanted the Wagu burger and asked what Wagu was, the waitress replied “google it” then realised what she said and googled it herself. We were then told we had to pay for the meal straight after ordering… I should have walked out at this point! The food was absolutely covered in cooking oils which was all you could taste, most of the meals and sides were left uneaten. Could have had a better meal at weather spoons for less than half the cost! Would not return!
