The best compliment you can pay to any restaurant is a return visit and this is why we returned to Reflections and this time brought friends with us. Following our previous rave reviews Reflections had a lot to live up to and yet again delivered the most amazing beautifully prepared dishes. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely Richard and shown into the bar area for drinks and to peruse the menu and make our selections. We remained here until we were shown to our table by Richards assistant Harvey. The food was absolutely stunning. We had all ordered different dishes and every one looked and tasted exquisite. I opted for the monkfish wrapped in Parma ham with mashed potato and vegetables, hubbies choice was pork with new potatoes and vegetables and our friends selected halibut with new potatoes and side salad and roast duck with new potatoes and vegetables. We all agreed that the food was as good as it gets. To finish two of us selected the lemon posset with brand snap basket and one of us selected the cheese board. The deserts were beautifully presented and delicious however one minor criticism would be that the brandy snap baskets were quite thick and chewy rather than snapping which made them quite difficult to tackle. All in all a great big big thumbs up to everyone in the team involved in making our evening so special. We will return!!!!!

Booking Reflections at The Crescent Hotel was easy. A simple e Mail was all that was required and a speedy response confirmed we were all set. Upon arrival a very friendly Richard greeted us and we were shown into the bar area to peruse the menu. Monday night is ‘steak special night’ so hubbie quickly decided that was for him. I myself had been hankering after the roast lamb rump so that was my choice. When the food was ready we were shown to our table in the dining area , I didn’t think it was possible for the food to live up to my expectations - but not only did it do that….. it actually exceeded them! The lamb was beautifully cooked and so tender! Richard was attentive throughout our meal ( but without being too pushy) ensuring ourevery need was catered for Every element of our meals was superb. Hubbie ordered Bramley Etonnmess for pudding. Again magnificent!!!! I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending Reflections to anyone looking for a special fine dining experience. What can I say! This is our 5th visit to Scarborough in 10 months and every time we have to visit The Crescent Hotel for Reflections restaurant, food is amazing and always spot on with everything ordered BUT the service is amazing, Denise is a credit to the restaurant and hotel, she just as a way with people and nothing is ever too much, if I’m honest it’s due to Denise on our first visit in August 2021 that we returned on our next trip, she deserves credit for her hard work and commitment to her work, the other staff are extremely politely and friendly too but she shines above the team.

Came to this restaurant 4 years ago and it was amazing - so as we were in Scarborough thought we would book again - there was one member of staff on duty - she did reception, took drinks order - took food order - brought the food to the table and generally did everything - last time we were there there were 2 girls in the restaurant - one on the bar and one overseeing everything - last night we waited a while as this one girl was very busy with other guests - at least the restaurant was not busy - ordered fillet steak which was amazing last time - this time half the size portion for the the same price - this place seems to have lost its touch !!!

What a lovely, friendly, fabulous restaurant. The staff were very welcoming as soon as we arrived. The pate was plentiful and accompanied with small toast and chutney. The prawns & fish mousse was fresh, tasty & light. The beef dinner was delicious, with a large Yorkshire pudding. You can’t go wrong with ice cream, but the honeycomb is really nice. Highly recommended.

We were visiting Scarborough for the first time and were recommended to try the restaurant at the Crescent Hotel Yesterday(Sunday) evening, approx 7.30, went into the restaurant with my friend while our wives waited outside. There were 2 occupied tables but no waiting staff so went to the adjacent bar where a dark-haired lady in uniform was talking to 2 customers. we enquired if they were still serving a carvery (a poster at the entrance indicated carvery on Sundays). The lady replied, in an off-hand manner that there was no carvery, passed my friend a copy of the a la carte menu, then immediately said they were fully booked and the restaurant stopped serving at 9.00 pm so we were out of luck! I worked in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years and know waffle when I hear it. Not sure if it was my friend's bright green Norwegian fisherman's jumper or my Guinness toucan shirt that put her off us, but it was clear that she was not practicing any customer service that evening. Leaving our car parked on the Crescent outside we went elsewhere and had an excellent meal efficiently served (I will review separately). We returned to our car shortly after 9.30 and could see that Reflections was completely empty and the only visible sign of life was someone polishing glasses in the deserted bar! Imagine my suprise when I returned home to Lincolnshire today, and started to write my review only to see that Okayish had a similar experience. the hotel manager's response indicated that he (the manager) suspected foul play (presumably from a rival) and I am sure that does happen! But I have no axe to grind!

Went with my dad on a Monday after watching some cricket. The restaurant is beautifully presented with a reasonable choice on the menu offering something for everyone. Dad chose the leek and potato soup which he very pleased with and I had the home made liver pate which was lovely and smooth accompanied by a very tasty spicy tomato chutney. We both chose the roast rump of lamb on champ mash which was lovely and tender. The ambience was a little quiet, being a Monday, but this is definitely a place where quality is delivered.

Having read all the reviews our hopes were high for reflections but unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. The hotel, like the restaurant, looks like it was once a grand old beauty but is now struggling. The staff was friendly but certainly not of the calibre of fine dining, in fact, it the front desk attendant was doing double duty as the waitress. We were the only people in the restaurant for two hours we were there. The food was average and lacking love, especially what I'm pretty sure were frozen vegetables we were served. The wine list needs a significant review and update.

We recently visited Reflections for a birthday get together and, as always had an enjoyable evening. We were a party of 12 and we found the staff professional, warm and friendly (particularly Denise). The food was well presented and delicious, only disappointment was it appeared the kitchen had forgotten the chips and when they eventually arrived they were pale and barely cooked and hence not many were consumed. However, this would not deter us from booking Reflections again but would ensure any orders for chips are duly noted by the kitchen!!

Having lived in Scarborough all my life, I have never been to this restaurant which is part of The Crescent Hotel. I can't believe I have been missing out. Large selection of meat and fish dishes with some creative combinations. There was also a set menu which was fantastic value. We were attended to by an efficient and friendly waitress who did a great job. The food was delicious, fresh and plentiful. I had plaice goujons followed by rump of lamb with roasted sweet potato and a redcurrant jus. My fellow diner had a buffalo mozzarella and beef tomato stack with balsamic glaze and fish to follow. The only thing we did find a little stuffy and mean was that you got one side dish with your main course and had to pay an additional £2 if you wanted vegetables as well as potato. The charges for the main courses are around £15-18 so would expect both to be included. So-to conclude, you won't find food of this kind and quality in the town centre, so give it a go. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a hotel restaurant as the food is a credit to the chefs.

We travelled from Leeds to have Sunday lunch. Once again a really good 3 course l menu. We both had the goats cheese and avacardo salad, which was very tasty and presented in a very modern way. My husband had placed with a cream, wine and prawn sauce, I had braised pork belly, both good and served with a good selection of seasonal vegetables and potatoes. Dessert was gorgeous I had key lime pie with coconut ice cream and my hubby had brandy snap basket with raspberry liquor mousse. What amazing value for £16.95 The staff were friendly and very polite. Having visited Reflections several times before I was very disappointed with my latest visit, not because of the cooking or indeed the presentation but mainly the value and quality for the money. I opted for a starter and a main course for £21.95.My selection was a starter of Duck pate with toast, apart from the toast being very soft ( which was replaced) the pate was rather tasteless. The main course was a scallop of Pork with a sauce and stuffing, vegetables were included the pork was tasty and well cooked, however only one scallop of pork and a pile of what tasted like Paxo stuffing, I do not consider adequate or value for money. My guest had the Aubergine and Tomato pasta, a small portion about half the size of what a local Italian restaurant serves at half the price of what Reflections charged, it contained half a aubergine and one small tomato cut in half in a pasta sauce! It appears to me that the menu has been tailored to achieve the maximum amount of profit, this is a shame as i have had excellent meals at Reflections in the past.

I have been to reflections a couple of times now and hadn't got round to leaving a review, unfortunately. But as I read some reviews on here, some being negative, I felt it was only fair to leave one of my visits. On the first occasion I dined with my partner as his first meal back in the UK following a military operation. We hadn't heard of reflections, we simply found it through trip advisor as number 2 restaraunt in Scarborough. We decided to give it a try, not knowing what to think- but we are very glad we did. The restaurant was maybe a little dated, but it all added to the experience. The food was served with great presentation and to a high standard. Im going back a while, but i had the most delicious salmon, on breaded brie served with an orange sauce. My partner had a chicken dish with asparagus. Both the meat and the fish were delicious and to a high quality. The staff were extremely polite and helpful throughout the meal.On the other occasion I dined with my partner and his parents, again we had a delicious meal, the fishcake starter was beautiful, all the food was served again to a high standard and great flavours. The staff were just as friendly as we remembered then.Yes, some may say it is a little pricey, which for Scarborough it may appear to be. However for the delicious food and dining experience it is worth every penny. The beauty of this place is that the menu changes often so each time you have different options on a set price menu. The only negative point which I had on both occasions was when we had paid the bill and sat in the bar area awaiting taxis, a member of staff had to come over as she had 'missed' items off the bill. A little strange happening both times, but obviously we paid with no objection as we had the food/drink and just hadn't realised ourselves it wasn't added on at time of payment. Luckily for staff we were still in the restaraunt.Thankyou to the staff at reflections for there great service. I look forward to visiting again. I recommend to all those looking for a nice, relaxed dining area with flavoursome food and polite staff then reflections is a good choice.

Relaxing Sunday lunch at Reflections on 20th March. Pre lunch drink in the bar - they serve Wold Top Brewery beers on tap and good selection of wines etc. Great friiendly service, you can rest between courses without feeling rushed. Excellent choice of starters, I had Cod Goujons which were exceptionally light and fresh. Husband had the trio of yorkshire puddings, which is traditional - gravy was so good he used his spoon to get every last drop. These were huge and home made. Good choice of mains, lots of varied veggies including both roast and mashed potatoes. I had roast beef and hubby had pork steak on black pudding with a cider sauce - every last bit eaten. Also brilliant selection of desserts/cheese etc. Very reasonable cost for 3 courses. Between the two of us we also knew almost everyone having lunch in the restaurant that day - all locals and I feel that that says a lot about a place when they get a good reputation from the local trade. Look forward to going again soon.

The staff were attentive from start to finish. We were promptly seated and had the choice to choose where we sat. The tables were well-spaced out in the room and a decent size, which allowed us to a good talking distance from eachother. The drinks were quickly serviced, and a jug of water was a nice touch, without us having to ask for it. The waiter we had for the evening was well versed and regularly, but not too often, asked us how the food was. We liked this as it showed us that they cared for each of their customers.I would make individual comments about each meal, although all of it was at such a high standard, i couldn't pick fault with anything! They were very suitable portion sizes and the choice was good, not too much to choose from, but enough to satisfy your eyes. The quality of ingredients were excellent, especially my duck pate starter and my lamb main. Their was a good time between meals allowing you to talk about the meals and have a conversation between them, which were never rushed out to you.All in all, we would both definitely return to both the restaurant and the hotel. Fully-deserving a top score of 5*. Thankyou Reflections staff for such a memorable meal and enjoyable evening.

From the staff, to the food, to the personal table visit from the owner; this place is something else. I can't rate it enough. The quality of the food is nothing short of breathtaking - the best fine-food restaurant for miles and miles. If you want to taste premium quality food then this is it. We will definitely be back. Booked a table for three for lunch on Christmas Day afternoon. It was a miserable, damp and chilly afternoon in Scarborough that day, however that soon changed when we entered the Crescent Hotel restaurant. What a homely and cheery interior. A wonderfully hearty welcome greeted us. The hostess took our wet coats, seating us in a very pleasant reception room complete with ottoman sofas and a welcome glass of prosecco. Not too long after we were escorted to our lovely decorated table and we embarked on a fabulously cooked five course Christmas Lunch. The outstanding aspect of the meal was the beautifully cooked vegetables. Often the quality of the veg and the standard of cooking of the sides can be very hit and miss. Not today, superbly flavoursome along with the rest of the food. The ham hock terrine was stunning. The pudding with brandy sauce, again a traditional favourite was just right. I would have liked to try the cheese board, however; I had reached the limit of what I could eat. Finally, the Carmenere was delightful. It is a pity I left the remainder of the bottle inadvertently on the table. Nevertheless, a tremendous afternoon with our hosts and thanks to all the staff at the Reflections Restaurant that made our lunch such a memorable one.

Big mistake! After reading the good food reviews on Trip we decided to cancel our reservation at Jeremeys due to the lack of choice on the menu and book Reflections. At £65 per head (same price as Jeremeys) our party of 4 expected a far higher standard of food than we were served. We all found the food very bland and tasteless the beef and pork were definitely cut on the cheap side. Nothing tasted like the descriptions on the menu apart from a couple of the deserts! So to sum up would we return or recommend NO!

Group of 5 of us went for work Christmas Meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed it - which is a first for many years. All the food was excellent, well cooked, great portions and yes plenty of veg which tends to be forgotten by many establishments when you have a Christmas Meal. It was so good that already talking about going back next year but also discussing Sunday Lunches etc. The location in town centre is also ideal. The service was also great, fast efficient and nothing too much bother. Would definately recomment.

Overall 7/10. Huge portions, attentive waitress and the setting in the dining room was alright nothing fantastic. Lots of mirrors everywhere...must be something to do with the restaurant name ?! We had starters mains & desserts all good, but the un-nerving thing was we were all alone in the restaurant. You could hear yourself speak and we prefer a bit of a buzz in a dining room.

Seven friends and I enjoyed a Christmas Meal at Reflections, situated in The Crescent Hotel. Food was excellent - all beautifully cooked, hot and tasty. I had terrine to start followed by rump of lamb with mashed potato and a delicious sauce, finishing with a lovely crème brulee. Other main courses enjoyed by the rest of the party were turkey, sea bass and beef. It's most unusual to go out with a large group and find that everyone enjoys the food. We would certainly return.

Dined in this restaurant as a party of 6 for dinner. The Reflections dining area is well dressed, clean and relaxed. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food we ordered was very good and plentiful, except for the creme brulee, which 2 of our party had. This lacked taste and texture and was a poor finish to a good meal. The all important question. would I return? The answer is 'Yes'. An excellent venue for that special occasion based on price per head.

We visited the hotel to eat at reflections on seeing the vast range of stunning meals posted on a media app. On arrival we were made extremely welcome I had a question regards the menu and had the honour of meeting the head chief Keith who was very helpful and recommend meals to suit our tastes even for my 9 year old son. We where not disappointed with out choices it has to be one of the most enjoyable meals we have ever had each dish presented with passion and truly an attention to detail.Well done all can't wait to come back soon.

I wonder what really annoys people about a restaurant? Rhetorical question of course. We liked the look of 'Reflections', and having poked our noses inside the favourable impression remained so we sallied forth for dinner on a quiet evening in July. We don't eat a great deal, so we asked if we might mix and match and have two starters off the set menu as well as some other bits and bobs. Would this be OK? No problem we were assured. So we did, and we also had some chips and something else. And a bottle of wine and a soda for our daughter - so in terms of margins we were scoring well. The food was good. Enjoyable and went down well. When it came to settling up I was rather troubled to see that the food - suspiciously - was not itemised at all but simply lumped together at somewhere around 45 quid. I queried this and it was immediately obvious that this was pre-meditated overcharging. "Oh - yes - we charged for a starter and a main...". "But..." said I "we only had two starters"? "Ah yes..." came the answer "but we have to pay the staff and pay for laundry just the same"How utterly extraordinary. This is a restaurant which allegedly believes that they are allowed to make up the bill, and if you have a starter, or two starters, or two mains, or (presumably) 10 mains, the bill is the same. It was clear that the manager (or sub manager or assistant manager, or assistant to the assistant manager) knew deep down that this was deceitful because as soon as I questioned it the bill was corrected with profuse apology to what it should have been in the first place. But seriously - come on! Do you really think it is reasonable to make a deliberate choice to overcharge people and hope that they might not notice? If so you deserve to fail. Dreadful mean spirited attitude. And clearly one which they KNEW to be wrong in the first place - otherwise the food bill would have been itemised like it is in every restaurant in the country. There was a calculated intent to deceive which I find abominable. We will never return.

We really can not say a bad word about The Crescent Hotel or the staff. The food in Reflections restaurant is amazing at a reasonable price. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We booked our meal for Reflections and as we have a little German Spitz dog (Rusty), who goes every where with us, they set a table up in the snug for the 3 of us. It was very special. As I said the food is amazing. On ordering our pre dinner drink a hearty bread board arrived with homemade breads and olives. The menu is very varied and changes twice a week. The food is as imaginative as it is tasty. Our whole dining experience was wonderful not least because of the very friendly and helpful staff. We also ate in the wine bar/bistro on the lower floor. They have a super carvery (7 days a week at lunch times, plus 5-8pm Sundays). The meat is some of the tastiest w have eaten and when you order a sandwich the meat is cut from the roast of the day. There is also a selection of other dishes available, if you don't want the carvery. For example the meat and mushroom pie, which Bob had, was excellent. We can not thank The Crescent enough and send our kind regards To Keith, the chef, Aden, who served us, Alia, on reception, Alan and Jodie in the Bistro bar and to the rest of the team we didn't have the pleasure to meet. We will certainly be eating at the Crescent every day next time we visit Scarborough as it really is hard to beat.Sarah, Bob and Rusty

Our party of four were greeted by a very welcoming host who gave the impression that nothing would be too much trouble, a good start to the evening. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and with the tables nicely spaced so as not to intrude on your fellow diners. All the staff were polite and attentive and enhanced our enjoyment of the evening. So, to the food. The portions are enormous. Our party chose a selection of starters from Cod goujons to smoked salmon and to be honest, the ladies in our party were just about full up. However, the men were made from sterner stuff so that when the Beef pie, Lamb, Pork medallions and Chicken together with vegetables and some delicious chunky chips turned up, we were able to give the food our proper attention. Almost. However, desserts were a no no. We did see some desserts being served and they looked fantastic but not one of us could find room to partake. There are a couple of minor niggles hence 4 stars, but they are really not worthy of mention. If I could award 4.5 stars I would.Overall, this restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good food in enormous portions and represents very good value for money.

My wife and I ate dinner here on a very quiet Friday night towards the end of October. The value was very fair for the quality of food, wine and setting. There were damask tablecloths, curtains and floor carpet which made a nice presentation, and would have dampened noise from the tables. Also there were fresh flowers on the tables. However, only two tables were occupied. The meal courses were very filling and we could not manage a third from the set menu.A (very pleasant) young lady was being trained as a waitress on this occasion. Perhaps my only criticism would refer to the waiting staff clearing unused tables whilst the two tables were occupied. It would be nice to see the restaurant busier.

This restaurant is superb value for money. We dined here for our anniversary meal. The restaurant was quiet but it was if week. We had the 2 course menu as we were to full for the desert. We had 2 different starters my husband had coarse pate, which was very pleasant with plenty of pate and 3 different types of bread. I had cod goujons which were superb, lovely chunks of cod in a crisp batter. We both had the steak which was a slight addition to the cost but done superbly, the pepper sauce is excellent. All in all an excellent meal that was cooked very well and presented beautifully. Thank you for making our anniversary special. We will definitely dine here again when in Scarborough.

We have just had a small group retirement meal at this restaurant having had Christmas meals for the last few years at the same venue. The food and the staff are a credit to its owners who took over shortly before our firm's Christmas meal last year. Everybody is made welcome by staff and owners alike and all the food (without exception!) was stunning. All left needing to do a few laps of Scarborough as meal sizes are generous. Thank you for and we look forward to our Christmas visit this year.

Arrived at booked time of 7.15 to be seated next to the door for the kitchen. Staff rushing all over the place as they were still setting tables. Lovely complementary plate of olives, varous types of bread and butter served and a very nice starter. The main meal was dissapointing, my lamb was dry and tough served on top of tasteless mashed potato but served with very tasty jus. Im not sure why boiled potatoes and chips were served on the side as they were not necessary. The other meal was the chicken wrapped in bacon, the chicken was the tender and beautifull, the bacon was tough and far too thick. This was served with the smallest portion of vegetables ive ever been served, 1 piece of broccily between 2, 2 pieces of cauliflower and a couple of carrott pieces, asked for some more veg, this came 15 mins later. Offered a complementary sweet but declined and had a pot of tea instead. There was a wedding going on in another function room with staff walking through the middle of the tables with dirty dishes every 2 mins really spoilt having a really nice relaxing meal. While outside waiting for the taxi a guest from the function was talking on her phone saying how fabulous their food had been. If you go there you may have a lovely meal but you may not, seems a bit inconsitstant.

My husband and I went to Reflections on Friday night and we had the best meal we'd had in years! The food was outstanding, the steak was cooked to perfection, often when you ask for a steak to have no pink it is cooked within an inch of it' life, this was so tender an tasty. The wine was excellent, served at the right temperature and one of the cheapest of the menu. The head waitress was training a young lady with patience but she wasn't patronising to her. When talking about us it was always Mr & Mrs .... not the customer or table whatever. We were made to feel as if we were important to them. I cannot praise them all enough. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone wanting a perfect meal.

We booked after checking Trip Advisor and we can support the very positive comments this restaurant attracts. Tucked away in the quiet of a beautiful Victorian crescent, 'Reflections' is a delightful restaurant. The staff was excellent, Alia, who was new to the position working alongside Aiden, made an efficient, youthful team under the watchful eye of Morag. The food was beautifully presented and didn't disappoint. If you are looking for something a little different then this is well worth a try.

My girlfriend booked this place for a meal when we stayed in Scarborough for a night. We were asked were we wanted to sit so we opted for the quiet corner. the ambiance of the restaurant is nice and calm. There is a set menu on offer, think it was around £25 for 3 courses. I ordered chorizo & feta salad and my GF ordered cod cheeks to start. Both presentation and taste and portion size excellent. We both ordered the lamb for main and we thought there would not be much on the plate due to the price but there was a really good portion, cooked to perfection, probably the best lamb I've had in a restaurant. Accompanying vegetables and potatoes also wonderful. We had to try a dessert despite been fit to burst, they were also delicious. All service staff were lovely and attentive, the food is of an excellent quality and standard. Will definitely go back if we visit Scarborough again.

We booked into Reflections Restaurant for our 19th wedding anniversary on a Monday night following the good reviews on Tripadvisor. We'd already eaten at CoGonis on the Saturday night, and Bryherstones Inn on Sunday night, which we really enjoyed. When we arrived at Reflections it was completely empty, but we were quickly followed by another couple who made me feel very overdressed. The staff were very attentive and friendly, brought us drinks, showed us to our table, which was in the window, nice and bright, and the dining room is beautiful, with a lovely ambience, and definitely set up for fine dining. My Hubby had a prawn starter, which he said was nice, then for mains he had steak, and I had plaice. I have to say we both thought they were ok, but nothing special, the meals didn't give us the 'wow' factor we were hoping for. I expected to be, and have been, blown away when eating meals at fine dining prices, so we were a little disappointed this wasn't the case with Reflections.I thought I'd try a dessert and went for the apple crumble. When it came it was smothered in custard and when I tried to dig my spoon in to break some off it was virtually impossible. I finally realised it was because I was trying to get through a whole baked or stewed apple with a little crumble on top, so I didn't particularly enjoy it (I like a fair amount of crumble with my crumble)The four stars we've given Reflections is mainly due to the great service and lovely surroundings. If we could have given 3.5, that would have been a fairer reflection (no pun intended) of our experience as far as the food was concerned.

After seeing the raft of superb reviews for Reflections, I felt obliged to try it. The majority of diners on the night we went were hotel residents. The service was excellent throughout our meal. My preference is for seafood and fish, so I selected the starter of scallops, crab and prawns. It was genuinely woeful, with extremely small portions of the three shellfish ingredients, the scallops, in my view (and that of my wife) being inedible. My main course was a whole turbot with king scallops and was great, especially the scallops. The turbot was very small, and I expect it was farmed (not a problem) but it was very well cooked. My wife chose 'grilled plaice goujons' which were actually deep fried (and very tasty) and sirloin steak, which was very well cooked and very generous in size. I made reference to my dissatisfaction with the starter to the (very pleasant) waitresses after the starter plates were collected and at the end of the meal. The bill arrived and wasn't itemised, so I asked if it included my starter as I was very unhappy with it. The lady (who I assume was the owner/co-owner) returned to discuss the position. I was told that the scallops on the starter (queenies) were exactly the same as those on my main course (which were king scallops) which was clearly not the case. The key point here is not the detail of my particular issue, but the owner's approach to dealing with it and her general approach to customer service. All restaurants will get it wrong from time to time, but having the right attitude makes the difference between a customer who will return and one who may be very negative about their experience to others.
