Redfields Garden Centre in Hart

We used to frequent Longacres Garden Centre regularly before the pandemic, but their price hikes and often overcrowded restaurant made us look for alternatives. Whenever we go to Farnham, we kept passing this new place and decided to give this place a try. Upon arrival, we navigated the one-way car park and found a convenient spot near the entrance. As we entered the centre and walked to the restaurant, we were amazed by the elegant decor, which reminded us of The Dorchester Hotel in London. The space was spacious, clean, and stylish. We ordered the Egg Royale and two coffees, and my gosh, they were absolutely delicious. Will we return? Definitely!

Thanks to Patrice, Paul, Claire and the team, my celebration tea for 26 of my close friends was a wonderful, memorable experience. Everything and I mean everything was perfect. Beautifully crafted and freshly made sandwiches, cakes, mini desserts and scones. Service was excellent throughout, always attentive and helpful. You always hope that a significant birthday will be memorable and this was without doubt achieved by the Cafe Theatre team. Thank you for exceeding all our expectations at every level.

Decided to give Redfields cafe another chance after poor experiences in the past, won't bother again. Experience ruined by a dog constantly barking. The cafe is expensive £20.00 per person for afternoon tea. I hate the long walk from the entrance to the cafe, as someone with a foot injury it is too far round. I am not interested in all the products on the way.

When will I learn? Had bad experiences here before and nothing has changed. We were shown to our table and waited and waited for our order to be taken. 30 minutes later and a rather angry faced member of staff arrived, no apology just really off with us both. The order arrived and unsurprisingly it was wrong. Decided not to make a fuss as we had waited so long and were very hungry. Then the wheels finally came off!! We were sitting inside (thankfully) and in the outer dining area we could see rats running around the tables, not something you need to see whilst dining. The restaurant needs a proper deep clean as the tables and chairs are very dirty and they need to get the pest controller in ASAP!!

The Redfields garden centre in Fleet has been updated apparently although I’m not sure when, but I found that it was a really well put together places, with an impressive modern exterior housing a large super garden centre style shopping space.. The layout of the retail space is kind of like an IKEA system, of one-way traffic, so that you’re forced to gaze at all their retail offerings - which can be a little frustrating if all you want to do is visit the dining space - which is what we wanted.. we eventually got to the large dining space - which is really well laid out.. as you walk through, it could be considered as one large self-service, as there are different zones and islands of counter service type spaces - but in fact it’s all table service, and I was confused as to why there are trays to grab, as if it was all self-service.. but it’s really not. So we were show to a table in the large dining hall, which is nicely decked out - with classic green interior, large banquette style seating in parts - and tables dotted around. The space is large and there is outer seating as well, which is in the sort of conservatory style space - neither indoors more outdoors - but it’s just a middle space which feels a little more outdoors. Anyway - overall the space is impressive, and there is a buzz - with busy tables and a healthy amount of people when we went.. (lunchtime midweek). The menu is ok, with classics and burgers and toasted sandwiches. We ordered homemade burgers - the beef was very over-cooked, but the rest was ok. Nice crispy onion rings and decent fries.. Service was ok, but the ladies could do with being a little more attentive. On one occasion, I asked a passing waitress for another drink and she said ‘I don’t do drinks’ and off she went. I had to sit with my arm up for a while before I got any service - and even then, it took a while to get my drink. I’d say to consider that service goes a long way to making a great experience and I felt that this could be improved.. it it was good to have table services nonetheless .. Overall, this was a good experience. - for what it is. There are always chances to improve. And I’d say to be mindful of the cooking quality - and the service- as it could always be better. But overall, I enjoyed it - and I would go back for sure.. It’s redressing to have table service and a novelty to enjoy a great dining space - very much family oriented. Good work!

We booked Afternoon Tea for 3 at Redfields to celebrate mum’s 92nd birthday. We were shown to our table and brought pots of tea plus cups - but no milk. We waited 10mins then went to find a waiter/waitress and milk was supplied but still no food. After 40mins and a further 3 requests we finally received our Tea, inc fresh pots of tea. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Sarah saved the day by producing a piped Happy birthday plate (well done Icing person!) Waiting is not a ‘just’ job - it requires skill and attention, seemingly rather lacking here today.

Very unpleasant experience. Food cold, the only thing that was hot was the cup.of tea. Girls on the till look bored fed up and close to redness. Kids running around everywhere. Won't be using the food facilities again. Garden centre good though

Upstairs restaurant closed. Waited 'to be served' as per the notice and were both shocked and disappointed to be completely ignorant all relevant staff, despite waiting for a good five minutes. A simple 'will be with you on a moment' would have sufficed but instead nobody so much as glanced as us or the queue behind us. I'd have scored this no stars if I could have. Rude!

Was told the wait for food was 30 mins, after 45 mins we asked three separate people to check our order and had zero feedback. After another 5 mins we spoke to a Manager who said our food was being plated - another 10 mins and still no sign so went to find him again and was told and shown it was being plated - another 5 mins before it turned up, lukewarm, at the table. Customer service - zero Food quality - two Would l come again - absolutely not

Very disappointed, tried to book a table by phone, waited 47 minutes but no response. Arrived at restaurant at 11.08 told they do not take bookings for breakfast. We were informed they had stopped serving breakfast, web page says breakfast served until 11.30 this was not our experience. Also told they do not take bookings for lunch but tables were being set aside with reserved signage on them. Spoke to manager who said they were extra busy due to it being Mothers Day.

Went for breakfast arrived before it finished at 11.30, we were sat around quarter past while being seated was told sorry can no longer order breakfast only brunch now why say breakfast is until 11.30 if your not going to serve until then! Misleading information!

Very nice lunch, we had the beef burger and ham, egg and chips. Both excellent quality with pleasant service and nice ambience. Bit of an ikea type hike around the place to find the restaurant, and an unnecessary trip to another eatery on the first floor, which served only drinks and cake and seemed aimed at parents with young kids. Would return

Very disappointing and underwhelming visit to Santa's Grotto. Decorations were shoddy and the majority of the time was spent hanging around with only 3 singing reindeer heads to entertain us whilst waiting to see Santa. Complete waste of £15 and we will go elsewhere next year.

While shopping here we popped into their Cafe Theatre for a coffee. There was a long, slow moving queue for the self-service drinks but one of the staff suggested it would be quicker to sit down and have table service. They were wrong! By the time we got served we could have queued twice. We thought that their table service system would work on first come, first served basis, but it became obvious this was not the case. ‘Regulars’ were having their orders taken straightaway while customers who had arrived earlier had to wait. Some of these regulars had other members of staff come and chat to them: very nice and friendly but is it wise when it is being done to the detriment of other customers who are still waiting to be served? When one customer complained that they had been waiting longer than the ‘regulars’ being served first the waitress was rude and surly.

Disappointed again. We have come down a total of 4 times lately to try and attend the treetops cafe for my little one. Out of those 4 times, it has been open ONCE. We popped down today to try our luck and surprise surprise, closed due to short staff. Not trying to be difficult but surely Christmas is one of your busiest times of the year? Could more staff be hired so that you don't have to close an entire area of the garden centre alllllll the time? We went to go and have coffee and cake in the regular cafe, but the queue was so long we just turned around and went elsewhere. It could be so great, the garden centre itself is lovely and the treetops cafe is perfect for little ones - especially considering there isn't much like it around this area. A real wasted opportunity here for something fab. We have wasted so much time coming here on multiple occasions to be let down.

Had a lovely wander round today and the store is looking beautiful and Christmasy , well worth a visit. I had my lunch in the restaurant and was served my Amy who went above and beyond with her customer service. The only downside to my trip was I plugged my car in to one of the EV charger points and when I came back , it had not charged at all.

I visited Redfields with members of my family for a coffee and a cake. The coffee wasn’t very hot but the cake was lovely. The service was good, especially from the one of the waitresses called Sarah who was friendly. I will visit again soon.

Delightful Afternoon Tea with party of 10 for a Birthday Celebration. I enquired in advance by email and the Manager could not have been helpful including accommodating special dietary/allergy requirements. The waitress and other staff were friendly and very helpful. All the party were impressed. I’m glad I choose the Theatre Restaurant at Redfields Garden Centre rather than a more expensive hotel.

Lovely afternoon tea experience- booked in Ada mace and given a lovely big table tucked out of the way. Our waitress was so kind ( I didn’t catch her name but on the receipt it says Patrice) she made sure our tea was topped up and was very sweet. Everything came out in good time and the food was lovely too- probably one of the best scones I’ve had- so soft!! If anything the sandwiches were a bit basic, but nice nonetheless. I would recommend afternoon tea and would return. I did read some reviews before we went about the staff being a little unorganised in the restaurant in general which you could see. We had no issues ourselves though - Thankyou redfields!

Such a shame I’ve been a regular visitor to the Theatre Cafe at Redfields for a while. The last two visits have painted a very different opinion for me. My last visit on Monday lunch time, not a busy period, we waited half an hour for someone to take our order. No apologies for the length it took to serve us once we managed to flag someone down. Then the most recent visit we went on a Sunday lunchtime, busy to be expected. First of all we waited to be seated for at least 5 minutes with no acknowledgement from numerous staff members that walked to the table by us, in this instance the least you would expect is someone will be with you shortly. Finally we were seated by a very unenthused young lad. Another 20 mins go by until we finally flagged someone to go and get someone to take our order. At this point I had a chat with the manager who couldn’t have cared less about the service levels, stating he didn’t want to make excuses whilst making excuses. Our drinks came almost immediately however what came were 2 lukewarm bottles of Diet Coke with glasses but no ice and some lukewarm tap water. From the point of order our food took 35 minutes. During this time we managed to have plenty of time to research the average wait time for a restaurant to serve food (23 mins in this case) the 35 minute wait time might be more normal for a fine dining establishment. I would expect somewhere serving roasts on a Sunday in the style that the cafe does the food is ready and waiting to be plated in an efficient manner thus keeping up with the flow of orders. When our food came there was no acknowledgment from the staff about the wait which you would think is basic customer service. How many times have you been to a restaurant/cafe and they have been upfront food may be a bit of a wait and you don’t mind because they have set expectations. Our roast consisted of overcooked beef, sloppy cauliflower cheese, vinegary red cabbage and other veg all served on scorching hot plates you couldn’t touch. Previous roasts we’ve had here have been of a far higher standard. There were plenty of staff milling around unenthused and from the managers attitude you can see why. Too many staff and no robust management enthusing their team. The staff didn’t seem to have focus on one area of the restaurant just go where you’re needed at that particular moment. They had 3 people at a time serving food to a table but 1 person seating the whole restaurant and 2 people trained to take orders, with multiple other staff member milling around. Safe to say I will not be returning any time soon. Shame that you go to the tills of the garden centre and the attitude is the polar opposite the chap who served us couldn’t have been friendlier and more knowledgeable if he tried.

On the slippery slope. Increased prices reduced quality and poor service. On a not busy but very hot day it took us 50 minutes to get a jug of water and cold drinks. No one came had to ask at the till. Wrong order arrived and very poor quality sandwich with a bit of wilted salad and a few dry crisps. Certainly not £8.45 worth and very low morale in the staff. Will not be returning.

A great place to go for a good bit of shopping for homeware, gifts, garden furniture and plants and the restaurant has a vast menu to choose from. They serve you at your table, the food is good albeit a tad expensive. I had an avocado roll with chicken and salad, with crisps and my husband had a curried coconut soup. The staff are friendly when they serve you although we had to wait a long time for someone to come and take our order. For the size of this place, there should be more toilets. The toilets are clean, but they are a long walk away from the restaurant. There is so much to look at at Redfields Garden Centre, you can make it an all morning or all afternoon trip out.

Really disappointing lunch, and a bit embarrassing as we had invited family. Dried up chicken breast kiev, and equally dry cold salmon and awful salads. Won't be eating there again

Had a very nice afternoon tea that was a treat to look at and eat. Very pleasant and attentive staff. Would highly recommend, and on top of that is the wonderful Redfields centre itself.

Appalling! Two hours for 2 ciabattas and 2 cold drinks. Rudeness from staff to us and other customers was shocking. It will be a cold day in hell before I go there again.

Went out for lunch with friends. Was shown to table, and expected staff to ask us for drinks and then return for order----NO. When questioned, member of staff said she didnt take orders, but her colleague would take our orders. After about 20mins, no sign of anybody, Asked a staff member at the adjacent till, who said they didnt take orders for the indoor section only the outdoor section. My friend went to investigate, asked another member of staff if somebody could take our order. Another member of staff was highlighted but was very busy but would take our order when ready. Following about another 20mins, order taken but informed that the waiting time would be about 30mins, as they were busy. At that moment we decided to leave as we had already been there about 90mins. The fact that there were so many staff milling around, apparently doing nothing, cannot understand why it took so long for order to be taken Not very impressed Gill McClounan

Was at the garden centre so decided to stop for some lunch with my other half. Unnecessarily long wait to be seated even though the restaurant was half empty. My other half ordered a salmon salad. When it arrived, it was rock solid.. she struggled to get a knife into it. Spoke to a waiter who agreed to change it. He came back after a few minutes and said all the other salmon fillets in the fridge were the same so we ordered a chicken wrap instead. It took in excess of 20 minutes for the wrap to arrive meaning we ended up eating our lunch separately. Asked to speak to the restaurant manager. Was told he was not in that day so to speak to the garden centre manager on our way out. Surprise, surprise, he was also “unavailable”. A customer service manager at the desk took my details and promised they would be in touch with us. Have never heard anything from them. Redfields: you have a lovely garden centre but a truly appalling restaurant that needs sorting out. Next time we want to have lunch, we will opt for one of the other many garden centres in the area who have excellent restaurants and pride themselves on looking after their customers.

I was treated to a birthday treat when having the afternoon tea in the restaurant. Presentation looked stunning, great variety of sandwiches and cakes. As always the scones are just so fresh and lovely (not a raisin fan). The macarons were so well made and tasted delicious, also enjoyed the mini lemon meringue, shame it was a very hot day as the meringue was a little sticky but still enjoyable. Thank you Sarah for looking after us. You were so attentive, professional and had a wonderful sense of humour which made the experience even more enjoyable.

I visited with my wife and we decided to sit outside. We were taken to our table and saw nobody for the whole 30 minutes we were there despite me bringing our long wait to the attention of three separate staff members. One of them said we were forgotten because we were sitting outside. WHAT??? The staff all seemed to be very overworked and very short tempered with each other creating an extremely chaotic and toxic atmosphere. Whilst waiting to be served we chatted to three other tables of customers who all experienced similar bad service with some waiting 30 minutes to order and a further 40 minutes to receive their food orders. In every case their hot food orders were not hot or even warm. Sorry but none of this is acceptable. In the end we just bought a couple of drinks inside and left. The garden centre is really nice but wise to stay away from the cafe unless you have lots of time on your hands and don’t mind sub standard food.

Late breakfast on my own, coffee was delicious, food took a few minutes longer than expected (it wasn't particularly busy) but well worth the wait. Presentation was amazing. Staff were always smiling and greeting me with a "good morning". Will return with friends next month.

Popped in after work for a coffee and a bite to eat. Prompt, friendly service. There was an issue with our order but Sue dealt with it swiftly. Every time we have been in Sue has taken the time to chat. She is a credit to your company. Thank you Sue for your friendly, approachable and professional manner. Always a smile for the customer. A great example of first class customer service. Keep up the great work.

On 2nd September 2020 we arrived at the restaurant for lunch 12.30. There was a queue but this disappeared quickly. I was a little worried at all the customers arriving at the same time. (could the kitchen cope).We were amazed at how organised it all was the table 61 had menus and a track and trace note for us to fill out. The food order was taken quickly. The food arrived within 10 mins hot and very nice. We were in two minds to order coffee. These days no one in any restaurant seems to bring coffee quickly or HOT. We were served 5 minutes later by the Manager Paul G (on his ID). We were very grateful about how quick the service was. He seemed to have his witts about him and knew how to run a restaurant. We told him how amazed we were. My coffeeorder which is a bit of a pain arrived perfectly, double espresso with HOT water and cream on the side!!! We all enjoyed our meal and our Aunt whose birthday it was. Please pass on our comments to your staff and especially to Paul.

Treetops cafe. Felt very safe, table service and you are taken to your table. We didn’t realise but they are doing the Monday to Wednesday 50% off so we had a prawn baguette with salad and crisps. I don’t have a big appetite so for lunch we could have shared it. The prawn baguette could have done with a bit more Rose Marie sauce but we asked for some extra sauce and they bought us some mayonnaise which was fine. The staff were friendly and polite, in spite of it being a very very hot day. The garden centre itself is great! Well worth a trip

I really do like this garden Center, everything always looks clean and tidy and they sell something for everyone and they have a great toy area for the kids.However I do agree with the other comments about the restaurant, myself and my 2 young kids went there the weekend you first opened back up, the restaurant was not that busy and we were seated quickly after 20 mins no one had taken our Order so I asked someone I was told just a minute, there were a lot of staff in there with spray bottles cleaning I had to ask a further 4 times to be served, one young lad even told me he couldn’t as his handwriting was not good enough, if I didn’t have 2 hungry kids with me I would have left so disappointing as this was the first time we had eaten out since lockdown.I really hope the service does not continue like this as I find the food to be lovely.

This place should be very good but small things make it constantly disappointing.Some of the staff are fabulous but some are like zombies. I had a guy struggle with my gift card for 5 mins and didn’t speak to me once the whole time.The scones are flat, some of the cakes are stale. The buns for the hot sandwiches are cheap but the sandwich is not.The service is slow, people don’t seem to know what they are doing and the tables and chairs are filthy.

My friend treated me to lunch. I had fish and chips.A good-sized portion was served. The batter on the fish was crispy in some parts but it was mostly soggy and a bit slimy. I think because the fish was frozen. The chips although they looked nice they were cold and the peas were so hard they were inedible. Not good value for money.

Went in about a month ago and had a brilliant BLT. Went in today and had the tiniest ever prawn sandwich with no butter and hardly any filling. Consistency is what I want when I go out. Not brilliant one day and substandard the next. I give up.

Good garden centre with plenty of plants and equipment for gardens, Abbas and garden g furniture. Also large restaurant and an upstairs cafe serving hot foods. Often visit for lunch

Garden Centre does not price visibly, need to scratch around for prices, get to the till then the price is different (need to go back and get the price tag to prove you are right).Restaurant is slow.
