Booked on the off chance as we were in the area for a weekend. Got given room 103. It had a double bed en-suite with a connecting twin room , both had balconies with fantastic sea views. This is not a Devere, Marriott style hotel, it is a traditional Victorian sea front hotel, so don’t expect a modern full gizmo experience. But what you do get is very friendly, helpful staff, great housekeeping team, bed linen changed every day and immaculately clean, and if you get the right room with balcony and sea view, It is a view to die for, with the sea right outside your window. We were delighted that it hadn’t changed much in the 40 yrs since we last stopped there. Bar snacks and restaurant food available and was reasonably priced. We used the indoor pool which was lovely , shame, the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were not in operation. We were surprised by the low number of people staying at the hotel as it was beautiful weather over the weekend, but hey ho that’s their loss. Hope it stays this way but something tells me that may not be the case. Well done to all the staff for making our weekend so enjoyable. Gary and Jo

Love it….but we’re old and discerning. . Sadly just been sold to a wealthy Russian businessman who want To to make it 5 Star. So I guess we’ll have to find a new haunt

What a beautiful place! I go there on a regular basis for some drinks or food and I can't get enough of it. Very peaceful and the scenery is nice. I would not say the food is excellent but it is tasty

This hotel is in such a wonderful position, offers a very good bar menu, but employing a bar girl who couldn't mix a Bloody Mary, saying 'we don't usually do cocktails here'! It isn't! It's a drink that any bar person should know how to serve, let alone in a good quality hotel! My wife had to instruct her how to mix it! My recommendation is go to a Wetherspoons bar - they know how to mix a good one and at half the price! Without this problem, the overall experience was very good.

Dine with a view out over Torbay just adds another pleasure to the quality and quantity of the food.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were here for a dance weekend so we made our own entertainment . Food was good, building was old but not shabby.1st floor room we had was very large and brilliant . only fault I can find is the lift , there is not a safely door on it which could be a bit dangerous with little fingers .

We have stayed at this lovely hotel on 4 occasions now and will be staying many more times in the future including our main 2 weeks next summer. I would find it very difficult to find fault as it has everything you could want in a seaside hotel. It is right on the beach with it's own private tunnel that leads you right onto it, The food is lovely and plentiful -the rooms are very spacious and has lots of wardrobe space-i would advise you book a room with a sea view as it's lovely to wake up to the lovely view of Torbay-a room with a balcony is even better! Finally, i have to mention the excellent staff -nothing is too much trouble for them and they always have a smile for everyone. Don't take my word for it-Try it-you won't be disappointed!

It was my 92 year old aunt's choice because she like the heated swimming pool-amazing for her age but then she was Yorkshire born and bred. On the face of it the other guests are rather senior in their years with crutches or mobility scooters. Yet the restaurant and bar are breezy and full of happy people while the views over the sea are super. We had a lightish Sunday lunch and aunty got some useful points on her loyalty card while the beverages revealed evidence of a good cellar master. Try it and see for your self but watch out for the golden wedding parties.

The food at the Redcliffe Hotel is exceptional with plenty of choice for each meal. Having spent a week there, very few items on the menu were repeated during that time - certainly not the main course of 4 courses. Breakfasts are excellent.

Sunday lunch is available to non residents. As a resident, I can recommend the meals, but they're quite expensive - £22 but good value for the money.

I was treated to a special short break for my birthday. The location was good, the food was excellent couldn't fault it. The major downfall for this hotel was the fact that they ship in coach loads of old age pensioners who take over the bar and ballroom strict tempo dancing waltz etc. There was a dress code for evening meal suit and tie, which I thought was good. Only the oap's decided to turn up in Hawaiian shirt and garlands, this spoilt it for me. This was not a cheap 4 day break, very disappointed, will definitely not be returning to this hotel, and would only recommend it to OAP'S .

Visited on this occasion on what was a wet summers day. Enjoyed a classic cottage pie with lovely fresh vegetables followed by a warm chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream. The service was prompt and friendly. Thoroughly recommend here for a weekday lunch or I have also experienced their traditional Sunday lunch which for value and service takes some beating. Traditional values in fabulous setting.

Loved the atmosphere, location, in fact loved everything at this hotel. The service is first class and on a fine day you can sit outside overlooking the sea, or go for a swim in the outside pool. Mind you if weather not so good use the indoor facilities

Having previously on different occasions enjoyed an excellent bar snack and a good Sunday lunch we were delighted to be invited to a 50th wedding anniversary dinner. We selected from the standard table d'hote menu and it gradually went down hill. My starter was Okay but one other diner had mussels and said that "they were the worst that he'd ever had." The main course was served on lukewarm plates and the veg was lumpy mashed potato, frozen peas and a lumpy mixture of carrots and swede, My cod was not properly prepared, not boned and over cooked. The sweets were sickly and appeared to be bought in. There was one hot sweet which was rice pudding with strawberry jam and looked exactly as if was served straight from the tin. I felt that out generous hosts had been ripped off. I won't be going there again.

This restaurant is part of the Hotel Redcliffe, on the sea front, and open to the public. The dining room offers fine food in a splendid setting overlooking Paignton beach. It is a high class establishment, but the prices are reasonable. Good choices on the menu, cheerful service, and good wine selection. We had three courses for around fifteen pounds. Everyone enjoyed their meal. There is a ballroom nearby the restaurant, and a spa for those energetic enough !

Have visited several times in the past and always enjoyed but visited yesterday and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Cafe was quite empty carpets were dirty whole place very untidy ordered food surprised by being asked to pay before food was served Food was OK but nowhere near the quality it use to be Will definitely not be back

The family arranged a birthday lunch for me. The new owners and staff were lovely, making the room and tables nice with white linen cloths, glitter and deccies. The food was outstanding as always, with the added bonus of attentive staff for our party. A great price, a great atmosphere, great food and very welcoming for all ages and abilities. Would recommend and definitely go again. Well done all.

I would highly recommend the Sunday carvary, food served lovely and hot and vegetables cooked to perfection, all fresh. We have just spent the last few hours enjoying one of the best roast dinners. The service was excellent and the staff were really nice helpful.

Booked for Saturday dinner. Got to the restaurant only to find it had been closed for months. They kept sending us reminders about our booking as well. Disgraceful.
