Red Lion Public House in Fareham

Just had a evening meal on are first night of stay, the meal was good me & the wife both enjoyed it we both had classic pub food hunters chicken and a steak and ale pie

I have previously left good reviews for this restaurant but unfortunately not this time. We arrived for our New year's Eve lunch and were not warmly welcomed by the female staff member she showed us to our table and was borderline rude. We ordered steak medium to well done. Oh dear, When it arrived mine was clearly rare, my husband's was only slightly better but he was ok to eat his. I called a member of staff and my meal was taken back and a fresh one presented. That was fine however I was made to feel uncomfortable by the chef who came out on her way to the bar and gave me a hard stare as did other staff members. All in all what with the rotten meal and poor service we will not be returning any time soon which is a shame. We usually spend £80 plus for a lunches but we will be taking our custom elsewhere in future as we are clearly not welcome at this venue.

Went with friends today celebrating two birthdays. Waitress didn’t look like she wanted to be there. Food was only ok, I had lasagne with garlic bread , which was so hard had a job to chew. Service was very slow considering there was only one other table there. Wasn’t even asked if we would like coffee. Seemed everything was too much trouble, there was nothing to make us want to want to return.

We regularly meet up with friends and family for a meal at the Red Lion whilst staying at the hotel. We find all the staff from reception, the bar and restaurant are always very welcoming and friendly. Last night the restaurant was particularly busy with Christmas parties but all the staff were working very hard to maintain the usual good service, in particular Rocio who went out of her way to help us. The Red Lion is very lucky to have these people at front of house.

Great evening. We love the Red Lion. Our meals were lovely. Food and service all first class. Phil our waiter was absolutely tremendous. Wonderful character, who had us laughing all evening and looked after us brilliantly. He’s also a great dancer !! You can take the boy out of Cornwall !! Thanks to everyone at The Red Lion. We will see you again.

We had Sunday lunch here. Roast beef for one and pork loin for the other. The meat was cooked beautifully, as were the carrots, parsnips and broccoli. Great Yorkshire pudding! So, what was wrong? The gravy was 'generic', no matter what flavour the meat. Why have stuffing and pork crackling with roast beef? Worst of all, the roast potatoes were soggy and cold! Oh, and £7 for a pint of IPA and a lime and soda!!

Service excellent food fresh hot and tasty. Value for money. Will come again and stay to see more of area. Will recommend to friends.

As a family, we use the restaurant often. Great food, clean and welcoming environment, friendly staff. Food is cooked from fresh so the wait time is slightly longer than expected but very worth it. Highly recommended.

Regrettably our Pork Sunday Roast was very disappointing. The vegetables were pale and soggy, the roast potatoes were hard and the pork was dry. The majority of which was left uneaten.
