Red Chillies Indian Takeway in Brighton and Hove

I've been using this take away for about 5 years now but feel compelled to leave a review. This is one of the best curry takeaways in my area (Fiveways, Brighton) however the prices are rising, portions getting smaller with barely enough meat for a child let alone a hungry adult, the sag aloo (spinach and potato) barely half filled the small tin foil tray and they have started charging for minor substitutions even though the items swapped are the same price EG asking for a naan instead or rice (both £3). They charge £1 extra per swap The bags of salad and onion are much smaller now and they are charging for chutneys / mint sauce which used to be FOC. So in short it's just not worth the £££.

Think I was one of the first customers , always a great curry, fresh produce and good service. Eat approximately two curries a month here for the last three or four years, alwaydms good.

Food reasonably tasty, a bit 'red' a bit expensive. liked the egg in the biryani . But wouldn't rave. i. But ok. Downs were rather a lot of potato in veg dishes and we got 4 plastic bags of a very small amount of onion in each. As we ordered 5 main dishes this was ridiculous. Why not put 5 portions in 1 bag??? Clearly are not considering plastic pollution!

I wrote a bad review last time because of one person there who was rude. Wish I hadnt written that review because i ahve been here many times since and it is consistently great food with good service. Lovely surroundings and tasty good quality Indian food.

Had a takeaway for 9 people last night. Everyone really enjoyed all the dishes. Had a range of veggie and meat dishes- all delicious. Looking forward to going again.

The man on the till was so rude to a customer that I doubt I will ever go back, there are so many other places near here. Poor service is unacceptable.

The chicken Dansak,kodari was delicious which also came with perfectly cook rice . The Chicken was tender and very juice . The delivery driver was also very pleasant. Have had 2 delivery's in the last week cant cook at home for the same price. like a previously comment said 11/10 . looking forward to trying other dishes

Popped in and ordered face to face - to be greeted by smiles and a welcome from the cooks and front of house. Wandered to the pub across the road while the meal was being cooked. Food being packed as I returned at the appointed time - and again smiles and cheerful chat. The mains were Lamb Pasanda and Chicken Pathia; which complimented each other very nicely. Fresh, tasty nicely balanced - and there was plenty of it (enough for us to eat two meals from them). A single starter and a raita did for two - esp. with the complimentary poppadoms etc. Basically, for about £30.00 (inc. starters, mains, breads & rice) we had a blow-out evening meal and enough for a lunch the next day, so 4 very tasty adult meals. Totally recommended..

You won’t be disappointed, the flavours in the curries and the service is the best, 5 Stars from me!

I had a take-away from this restaurant last night. I ordered a Lamb Rogan Gosht, a cucumber Raita and a naan bread. They gave me a Gosht Kata Masala which was a simple sauce tasting of mostly of tomato sauce with a small amount of lamb some of the lamb was a little chewy, the naan bread was slightly elastic and sweet, the cucumber raita was a little watery. I was very disappointed and would have taken the dish back but I picked the meal-up at 10PM their closing time and decided to try It. It was a lot of food for £15 but not fresh healthy cooking as stated.

Food was pretty great! I had sag paneer, shashlick and raita. All very tasty. The chicken was pretty tender. Got a complimentary poppadom and naan. I will say best poppadom I’ve had in a while! Delivery was v quick

Still annoyed a couple of weeks later about the shoddy and rude service. Food was tepid and my daughters kids meal has less than a table spoon of frozen peas on her plate. Yep they were actually frozen like they just came straight out of the freezer with no exposure to hot water. When I made the complaint I was treated with contempt. Disgusting service.

This is the best curry in Brighton. We use this place regularly and the food is always delicious. They give great value for money, they are always on time with orders and they are a very pleasant, friendly and welcoming group of people. They even baled me out when my car had a flat battery! I recommend this place all the time to friends. I believe that it is the best in the city.

Have a takeaway from here every other weekend, Love love the paneer Achari shashlick still. Taka Dhal, varies but is usually good (I rate a good Indian by the TAKA Dhal) But other dishes still seem a bit samey and red! But tasty. Wish they...

Excellent take away. They have an open kitchen so you can see that the food ordered is freshly cooked before it is delivered to your doorstep. The food was full of flavour and just the right level of spiciness. Delivery was prompt, food piping hot...

Had a delivery from here recently. Great onion bhaji, tasty chicken dhansak with plenty of sauce, nice fresh tasting spinach bhaji and a good mushroom rice. Friendly service, free poppadoms, onion salad and sauce for the onion bhaji. Good value for money all round.

Yummmmmm!!!!!!!! Simply yummmmmm!!!!!!!! Trying a new place can always be a little bit of a risk but this risk has paid off. Simply stunning food & were happy to accommodate my husbands request for a passanda but madras hot & it was incredible.

Food is fresh, tasty and well priced. The garlic chilli chicken is our favourite. Lovely staff, always very friendly whenever we go into get our order. Highly recommend!

Got home today after ordering food and found that they had forgotten to put rice with my order. Phoned to complain about there oversite, told i should have checked before i left, really bad customer service, will take your money then tell you piss off if you've got a genuine complaint never go there again shame on them cannot give enough negative thoughts on there customer service

A truly delicious Indian experience that is full of flavour and texture. Made from scratch so you can take all the amazing flavours. The meat is succulent and fresh with real flavour. Fully recommend and it is the best curry house in Brighton by far.

The Red Chillies Indian takeaway has become a family favourite. Reasonably priced food which includes rice and poppadoms. I like that as it makes it simple to order. Tasty food and speedy delivery. Friendly and good value curry and has become very popular. The Key is to keep the standard of food and service high as they become busier. Time will tell. Yet to have a bad curry from here. We will reorder soon!

We love indian food and that local takeaway the closest one to our home. Good prices, nice food! We like it :)

Some time ago we ordered a curry from the newest and nearest Indian take-away in our area; Red Chillies in Preston Drove, Brighton. The menu looks impressive with dishes we have not previously found at other places in the area. We ordered a Garlic Chilli King Prawn Bhoona, a Lamb Jallfrezi, a Zara Lebu, a Brinzle Bhajee, a Sag Channa and a Peshwari Nan. All of the mains came with Pilau Rice and a Papadom included in the price and everything was delivered piping hot, as you would expect from a shop that is just ½ a mile away.

I know things change and Take-Aways can start out great and go downhill, but Red Chillies is currently the best in Brighton. It had overshadowed our previous usual favourite that we have now used for years and we now come here.

Collected a takeaway from here with good expectations. Ordered a range of very different curries, but they all looked the same, a very bright but deep red colour, all a bit sweet and intensely rich (not in a good way). My naan and bhajis were ok but curry not great. Probably won't revisit

We now use this as our Indian takeaway. The place is really clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. We order the classic dishes which come with rice, popadom and usually some water melon and onion salad. We have starters which usually consists of onion bhajees, samosas, mixed tikka or reshmi kebab all of which are really tasty. Sometimes we order a bread of some description but to be honest the main dishes, of which there are many, are very generous in portion size. They will deliver free on orders over £12 but as we're quite local we order by phone then go and pick up the food. I can thoroughly recommend Red Chillies.

This takeaway is just around the corner and fairly new to the area so we thought we'd try it out. We popped in to order on our way to the park and they were very friendly and said they could deliver our meal in 45 minutes. We had just got back and put the plates in the oven when they delivered our meal. It was around £30 for the 3 of us. All the dishes included rice, papadom and onion salad. Portions were substantial and freshly cooked. Everything we chose was very tasty and as we couldn't manage to eat it all we had the leftovers the next evening.

Really great curry, and lovely chefs who always have a moment to say hello or wave if you pass by. I have ordered from here many times and the quality of the food is always amazing and not overly expensive.

We tried this as it’s relativeky new and gets a clean hygiene rating of 5 stars as well as a 4 star google review. What a disappointment! I have never had such thick sweet and deep red curry ever! Every dish! We had King Prawn Puri, chicken tikka mossala, lamb dish and a brinjal Bhaji side. Every one was deep deep red and so sweet!

Had takeaway on Saturday evening. Food delivered when stated, hot and delicious.

Being a takeaway and collection only service, you can see the chefs cooking in front of you which I really like. It shows the level of hygiene these guys strive for so from the start, I feel good about how they prepare.

Bhindi Ghosh, Chicken Jalfrezi and Chana Masala - were all a little 'red', but tasty none the less. Some of the meat was a little dry. Does not seem to be a problem if the dish you want is not on the menu. A reasonable takeaway curry, potentially a good contender. Price about average for a home delivery - £22 included 2 rice and 2 nan breads. Would order again to try different dishes.

One of the easiest reviews I've ever written....In the words of Miss Tina Turner, this is simply the best (Indian takeaway in Brighton). Ordered a few times now, and each time I expect the last was a fluke and it won't be as good. And every time they keep proving me wrong.

Been here a few times now - amazing food , friendly staff, the best .Chicken Korma was sooo good! Chicken Madras amazing and the mushroom bhaji the best I've ever had.

Well cooked and tasty, tastes fresh and clean. Other takeways in the area are pretty average but this one stands out. I usually go for prawns which seem to be bigger than usual and more like king prawns. Collecting is like going into the kitchen - very open plan, clean and pretty busy, even during the week. No oil slick on top like in some indian takeways.

Not really. In fact they cook it any way you like but I was brought up India and I have to say Brighton is so lucky to have this place. I have tried most dishes (which are cooked in open kitchen in front of you) and they were all pretty much pitch perfect. These guys sure know how to tandoori chicken; breads and pretty much anything. Their dahl has a great complexity to it with cinnamon and a variety of spices that to me make it taste more Gujarati than Bangladeshi (where most of the chefs are from). But try anything really. It’s all freshly cooked and seasoned by their talented head chef who has worked in some of the best kitchens around in both here and London. I love this prawn Patia for example and their chicken jalfrezi has a real bite. The other thing that’s so great about the place despite the quality of the food it is incredibly cheap and what’s more everyone working there is just incredibly friendly. The best Indian in Brighton? More than probably. Definitely!

Ordered a takeaway from here last night, only down point was it took an hour 15 mins to arrive. Was well worth the wait tho the best takeaway curry I have had in Brighton and I have tried a few!! Very tasty well cooked food. Will definitely eat here again.

The curry is cooked right in front of your eyes so you can see what is happening! My curry colour was perfect no pink nothing the right colour! This is the best curryhouse in brighton. Highly recommend this place!

Why is everything so PINK? Since when has sugar been a principal flavouring of Indian cuisine? On top of the lurid colours and hyperglycemia, one of the dishes was incorrect (which out of three mains was pretty sad). Only ate a few mouthfuls of my lamb Balti which seemed to have been prepared in a reduction of Brighton rock with little pebbles of meat. Despite my being pretty cautious and soon giving up on my food, I felt really ill that night and most of the next morning. Also seemed hugely more expensive than anticipated. It's a nope from me.

Very nice smart takeaway with fully open kitchen. It was nice and educational to walk down and see one if your dishes being cooked up while you waited. Quick ordering, friendly service, nice smart environment. Most importantly very nice food. You get rice, poppadoms and water melon per person as well as really good value. I had high hopes of my first takeway from Red Chillies. The shop unit had been vacant for years and a lot of time, money and effort has gone into the refit. As I eat a lot of genuine curry at home, I was keen to compare this new venture with home-cokking.

We have used the Red Chillies takeaway on two occasions and on both have been thoroughly impressed with the food. It is also pure theatre watching the chefs prepare the food in full view of the lucky patrons. This is without doubt the best Indian takeaway in Brighton and Hove, and we count ourselves very lucky to have this jewel on our doorstep. I would strongly advise any potential customer to pick up rather than have their meal delivered, it is well worth watching the very competent chefs in action. The menu is also incredibly diverse, with curries I hadn't known before.

Newly opened indian takeaway owned by two really nice gentleman.The food is of good quality it has an opened planned kitchen where people can see the chefs cooking as they pass by the shops window.Will give other Indian takeaways in the area a run for their money.On a personal note would like to wish them all the best on their venture.My tip would be to order from 5pm_6pm and then 8pm and after as between 6pm_8pm stress on chefs and delivery will alter quality of foods.
