Fantastic warm and friendly atmosphere in the restaurant, very fairly priced tasty food. Delivers right out to Saltdean, with food always arriving hot and with a smile. A++++ service all round!!

Had a lovely meal, tasted great, have been a regular for a while and it's always to notch. Manager and waiters are very friendly and helpful. Poppadoms were crisp and fluffy, curry had the right amount of spice/sweets, great stuff!

Starting dish of poppadoms was great, good kick in the pickle, cooling mint yoghurt and smooth mango. Plenty to chose from on the mains. I went for an old favourite chicken tikka masala, when it arrived looked very pale, upon tasting was strong in coconut and was very creamy and mild. I asked the waiter about the dish, saying it tasted like a korma, the reply was "we don't use additives so it will be lighter in colour" and something about almonds, "we can change it but it'll be the same". So ok it was tasty but not what I ordered hence the low rating,

We can fault nothing about our experience. Lovely food and we were made to feel very welcome. Salmon was outstanding! We plan to return in the next day or so.

It’s way far from indian food , and for the food quality is over priced one of the worst indian restaurants in Brighton, the biryani doesn’t have the spices and oily plus the checkin butter is soup. 🤮

It was our first time of using this Indian and we wasn't disappointed. I pre ordered online using the Chef Online app. I was able to request what time we wanted the food to be delivered, it was very easy to order. The food arrived 15 minutes early was nice and hot and freshly cooked. There was plenty of chicken in the korma and it was good quality chicken. We would use this take away again and I would recommend it to family and friends.

Me and my friend visited the panel last Friday night . Being men we hadn’t realise the time still couple people finishing off, but I said don’t worry take a seat I’m very friendly and chatty. The only ones left in there had a lovely meal chatted about India general and I chicken pasta was lovely and my friend had a Jalfrezi, it’s no rush to get rid of us a lovely meal, we had a recommend it highly.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in Brighton. Panel has been my go to to place for many years. Dining in and ordering a takeaway, the quality of food is always exceptional! Whilst it may not be the cheapest, it is certainly great value for money and worth every penny. Dining in provides a whole new experience, with five star service from attentive staff. I understand how this venue is a multi award winning premises! Definitely a must for any Indian food lovers out there. Reservations are advised.

To begin with, the owner is very friendly and welcoming. I ended up eating here two nights in a row. The food is amazingly tasty, and the portions you get are more than worth what you pay. I hope to come back here again next year. Thanks for the great food and conversations.

Couldn't even try the place... Monday it was closed at 1530...

I came here on my way home from work for a snack of sag aloo. When ordering the two male members of staff were talking about me in what felt like a dismissive way. They then said I had to pay cash, which I didn’t have so I ordered another side dish, tarka dal which I’ve had in many other Indian restaurants. At home the potato dish was good but the dal was just yellow water with few lentils that I could see. I had to sieve it in order to find a few lentils. It wasn’t even like a thickish soup, just water. Worst dal ever.

One of the best meal we have had after a long time, never thought we would find something amazing like this restaurant in Brighton as well as the beautiful area the food was even more beautiful with efficient staff with great service. Whenever we cone back to Brighton this place is a must visit again., even the chef came out of the kitchen just ti greet us and make us feel welcome. Well done chaps see you again soon.

Highly disappointing. Asked for a table for two to be told they were closing. We left then 45 mins later when we passed again people were still entering. Can only assume the staff had an issue serving LBGT, which was very strange for an Indian in the village area. Davina

Greeted by Naz with a big smile & given menu's. Went for the 'set meal" at £35 & well value for money. Food cooked to request of being madras hot & it was perfect. Whole evening was a pleasure. Great atmosphere/spotless clean restaurant & great service with excellent food. Highly recommend.

4 of us went to eat here today but we got a very bad attitude from the staff.. there was no move from their side to welcome us or to ask us to sit down.. apart from that we saw very bad attitude towards Indians and very good behavior towards others.. Needless to say. Food was also very bad.. and we were charged 10% service charge for ordering biryani.. very bad service very bad food..

Well, first of all we wait a long time for food.there was a big table thats why they didn’t give us attention properly, though we ask for food.2nd part they said tandoori mix(chicken 1/4 2pc) will be enough for 2 people. But when i open package it was only 1 leg 3 tikka,1 shis kabab.taste was awful, rotten chicken,nan was full burn.we pay for extra one.salad was smells like bin.we said is it enough for 2 they said yes but which way tell me authorities. Right now i am feeling seek.i want full refund of my money.i need to talk with management team,now i am worried about the food quality of them.i i didn’t get proper response from them.i will let know Council food and safety Department about the issue.thank you.

We went there for food today. But the first experience was very bad. The attitude of the person standing at the front office (the person wearing a half sleep shirt - I think he is the manager) was very bad. He behaved as if we had come to eat food. There were only 2 customers there, yet we ordered food and had to wait for half an hour. But food was very bad. Avoid this hotel if possible.

Not greeted by waiter, was an effort for him, I asked for a table for one, he wanted to put me near the only 2 couples in the restaurant, one of which was making such a loud noise, so I asked if I could sit at an empty table, which was refused due to him saying all other tables were reserved even though there were no reserved signs on display, I walked out in absolute disgust and went to the nearby Bayleaf curry house where the experience was totally the opposite!

Went last night with a group of friends who go regular but was my first time here. Can honestly say I had the nicest meal ever! Tried a bit of everyone’s and it was all stunning! Great portions and very tasty! The staff / owner were all perfect gentlemen and made the whole experience top class! Highly recommend this place. We loved it !!!!

Lovely traditional Indian cuisine Extensive menu with plenty of options from mild dishes to hot and spicy dishes. Generous portions and not expensive. Friendly helpful staff. We were not disappointed and had a very good meal.

I thought I need to write a second review about Pavel Indian restaurant in St James Street, Brighton. I have ordered takeaway from Pavel during the lockdown and the food was unforgettable amazing. I went back with my partner this evening to Pavel. The first thing that impressed me is the way they arranged tables with fresh beautiful flowers, It’s so welcoming. First we ordered starters and I specially ordered my favourite veggie Samosas and Onion Bhajis which tasted amazing, My partner ordered Prawns purée which he said was unbelievably delicious. Coming to mains I ordered King prawns Jalfrezi and my partner ordered King Prawns Sag together with pilau rice and Peshwari nans. The king prawns were huge full of flavour, the portion was generous and it tasted so good. I will definitely recommend Pavel for anyone who wants to try or loves Indian food and for special occasions. The menu is extensive. It caters for everyone’s taste. Thank you very much for the lovely food and excellent customer service. The dinner ended with complementary chocolates. I will be back soon.

The people can be a little more friendly

First time we have visited this restaurant...what a little gem. The staff were friendly and helpful and the foid was excellent and plentiful. ..we ended up taking some home with us. The vegetables were nice and fresh. The decor is slightly dated byt this did not detract from tge dining experience. If you want goid food and goid service, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Very mediocre. We had the butter chicken which was more like a soup, and goan chicken which was marked as a chef's special and allegedly had green chillies in it. Hardly any discernable taste in either dish. Even the nan was bland, and burnt to boot. Disappointing and honestly baffling how a dish can be so much less than the sum of its parts. To top it off the server was curt and uninterested.

Big family reunion. We got the big table in the bay window of the first floor restaurant, and it’s a good table. We’re there for Sunday lunch, so standard roast dinner. Well cooked. Huge quantities, which left nobody hungry. An enjoyable lunch

We ordered take-away. A mistake. 40.00 for two, not worth even half that! [I thought their muligatawny soup and lentil soup were nice! ] But the mains were VERY disappointing. A puddle of sauce with a very few lumps of chicken gobbets submerged in it. Flavourless. 'Mild' food can be subtle, this was just beyond bland. Indian food can be a feast. This was like a school dinner. Disappointing. It might be that the hotter meals are better. But I don't think we'll be back to see. Where were the vegetables promised in the menu? Not generous portions, no subtlety, no flavours!

Has a nice atmosphere however the options for vegetarians and vegans were very limited (only a couple of options) and the vegan burger was very basic. Could easily be improved by expanding the menu especially as Brighton is usually so vegan friendly.

Worst Indian food iv had in my life. The food had a very bad smell and when I did try it tasted like heavy cream soaked in oil with absolutely no seasoning I was very disappointed everything went in the bin. Do not recommend at all!!

This is a little gem of a restaurant. We had the most amazing Dhansak here, possibly the best ever. Whoever is doing the cooking is first class and knows about spicing and balance. Everyone was very welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive. Thoroughly recommend.

I’ve added a picture of the butter chicken we ordered. As you can clearly see this was just water chicken instead. The other thing we ordered was vindaloo which was nothing like one. It was hot, but none of the stuff you might expect in Goa. They also had sticky floors. I can’t imagine why. Terrible red flag, should have stepped out the minute we noticed that. PS: I’m from India

Six of us were booked in on a Saturday evening, the owner greeted us warmly and then the whole experience was perfect from the restaurant itself, the service, food quality & portion sizes….we are all very regular curry eaters and couldn’t fault anything at Pavels....

Garlic Chicken Tikka Balti(Indian style i.e. no sugar, no colour and spicy) was excellent and so was the Mix Veg Balti. Better than most London Indian restaurants. Would definitely come back and would recommend.
