We came in for dinner but we couldn’t have anything beyond two dishes. The quality of food is extremely poor. As an Indian, I would feel ashamed to introduce people to this place. We ordered the Mowgli Sticky Chicken. The chicken was cold, not marinated well, fiber-y and just not well flavoured. The roti too was evidently not freshly made either. It wasn’t fluffy or flakey or even well made. A sorry state of butter was added on top for the sake of it. This was my first time in this restaurant and the last as well.

I think it was Luke that greeted and served myself and my daughter this evening. What a lovely professional man! Couldn't do enough to make our first time dining at this restaurant a wonderful experience. He was exeptional and I will be returning due to the way of the lovely conversation and a great dining experience we had. Many thanks from the two ladies from the westmidlands.

I recently read a positive review in the Telegraph of Mowgli Street Food and thought we’d give it a try. We arrived to an unwelcoming young lady at the desk and were then shown to our table. No eye contact or smile. We then had our order taken by a polite waitress. Our food then arrived although we had to wait for half the food to arrive 5 minutes later. We then had the food presented to us by a woman with short, light coloured hair wearing jeans. She may have been a manager. She looked like she’d swallowed a wasp! gave the impression she didn’t want to be there. No eye contact. No smile. No enthusiasm. Literally threw the food on our table. Imagine! A manager/supervisor. We were also very disappointed with the standard of the food. Little spice, warm and not hot, very few pieces of chicken in the chicken curries. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins. Throughout our meal no one bothered to ask if everything was ok. Once the bill arrived I noticed a £1 for a charity added to my bill. I have no objection to charity giving but don’t assume it’s a given people will donate. Ask them if they’d like donate before adding it to the bill. When I questioned it to the waitress her response was “well we make it clear on the menu”. Our overall experience was very disappointing. We were expecting a really ‘wow’ experience of authentic Indian Cuisine having read the article in the newspaper and paying £25 a head. We won’t be coming back.

An honest review from my birthday visit. So i have a vast experience of Indian restaurants throughout the UK. Firstly the staff are running around with an increased workload which does not give customers adequate time to understand the menu as we where told we would receive when seated. Their are no draught lager or beers and the bottled beer does not state the bottle quantity so a 330ml cobra is £5.50. We ordered 4 dishes and received 3 and needed to ask for the missing dish to be removed from the bill. So overall not the best.

Had the set menu very nice, just disappointed chefs' choice on four curries had similar flavour, was hoping for four distinct flavours. Generous amount of food. Staff were lovely. But the restaurant is very noisy 4 of us struggled hearing each other.

Food was amazing, went early lunch on a Wednesday. Service was good and friendly. Mocktails were delicious and different to anything I've tried before. Only downside was the wooden bench seats were so uncomfortable after a while so had to go elsewhere for dessert. Not the cheapest place to eat but so worth it.

Nice concept, food served in Tiffin boxes. Good generous portions and good service. I did feel the rice was a little overcooked for my liking and the curries could have been a little more spiced up and seasoned in flavour. That said, it was a good overall experience.

Eaten here a few times, initially when opened in Brighton. Went recently and was violently sick on the way home. Assumed it wasn’t the meal as it was so quick, but felt instantly better afterward and was clearly the lamb curry I ordered (which no one else had and were fine). The food is not bad on the whole, so big shame, just seems a company who cut one too many corners.

Unfortunately we had high expectations that fell to the bottom rather quickly. Food was mediocre except a couple of starters. What was worst was the service and atmosphere - obnoxiously loud tables and servers noticing and not saying anything. There were families all around who are obviously annoyed and disturbed like ours to enjoy an evening but ruined by one loud tables. We had to wait a long time between service to even get any staff attention to order drink refills or water!

The restaurant is very pretty, as the rest of the reviews are so lovely i am guessing we must of come at a bad time and got a bit unlucky . We were seated everything was fine. The waitresses were preparing alot of tables for new guests but forgot about us. It took about 20 minutes for a food and drink order. We didn't get given cutlery so my food got a bit cold waiting for it. Other than that, the food was pretty good, i had the monkey wrap and i enjoyed it till i realised that there was coriander so my fault for not reading the menu 🤣 Nice place though i appreciate the staff were busy 🙏🏻

The food, decor, vibe - amazing! Service from Kat, absolutely awful. We were left for the best part of an hour, before we had to give a reminder that we had a dessert waiting (from the set menu - great value btw!!) before she then asked for all other tables dessert options, served us last and then gave all other tables, except us, cutlery. 0/10 wouldn’t recommend to a friend. All other staff seemed great, manager was lovely on entry, just a shame our server ruined an otherwise lovely evening

Bit of a mixed review, really enjoyed the food, great set menu and the place was lovely. However, the service really let it down. We waited about 45 minutes between our mains being cleared and us eventually asking if our set menu dessert was going to be brought, turns out she hadn’t bothered to take our order for it. When the desserts finally arrived we sat without spoons for about 10 minutes having been told they’d be brought over to us, until I eventually got tired and went up and asked a different waitress for them. Our waitress purposely avoided eye contact every time she walked past our table and just didn’t seem at all interested in serving us. A shame as the other waiting staff all seemed lovely and far more attentive!

We popped in here early one evening during a short holiday in Brighton. The staff were very welcome, the atmosphere great and the food fabulous. We opted for the set menu which we felt was very good value. Our only complaint was they served 5 yoghurt chat bombs to share and then told us each had to be eaten in one mouthful. So two each and one left over which we couldn’t split! But otherwise really enjoyed the selection of curries and the portion sizes were just right. Gorgeous ice cream to finish off with. And the joy of swing seats just added to the experience!! Will definitely visit again.

Five stars in every way. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, excellent cocktails, and prices that are reasonable for the food Four stars because... A: A sneaky attached service charge. Do NOT guilt trip your customers, either pay your staff better or raise the prices of food in general if you are unable to do that. (We tipped the waitress personally anyway, but requested it be removed) B: the table size wasn't really large enough for five people despite us booking in advance. Two small square tables put together. Fix those two things and it's a definite five star restaurant

We visited this place after hearing a lot about it and were excited to give it a try. The starters—tamarind chips and sticky chicken—were absolutely delicious. However, the main courses were quite disappointing. We ordered the house lamb curry and the green chicken curry, but they were more like bland stews rather than proper curries. I understand that being in Brighton, they might tone down the spice level, but there was barely any flavour at all. The lamb, in particular, was completely tasteless—I had to ask for salt just to make it edible. To make matters worse, no one checked on our table during the meal to ask if everything was okay. When we shared our feedback at the end, the staff member became quite defensive, which left us surprised by the response. Unfortunately, this was our first and last visit. Definitely not the Indian street food experience we were expecting.

Superb service and the decor is nice. The seating, though looks cool, does nothing for your back as there is no back to any chairs. Sadly the food is just not up to scratch for the price, all very bland, and hot food served on top of cold leaves so is cold by the time it gets to the table. We like small plates but the containers they serve food in is just not for us. Was very put off buy it, can only describe them as what rationed food comes in, if your in the army Give me a plate!

Can't wait for a copy and paste response of... 'We greatly appreciate your feedback. The recipes we use are from our founders family, however we understand these are not always everyone's personal preference. Thank you for giving Mowgli a try 🐒'. That kind of sums the place up. Nothing individual, no personality and no customer care. Anyway....I may be harsh with one star but allow me to explain. The one star completely comes down to one member of staff. I'm assuming a supervisor of some sort. She had short hair and was the only one not wearing a uniform. My partner and I came for dinner a few nights ago. We never eat out due to financial reasons. We requested a swing seat as my partner loved the idea. When we arrived, this member of staff was blunt in telling us we wouldn't be sat on a swing seat. No apology, just grabbed menus and told us to follow. I halted and mentioned the the swing seat was important as my partner has always wanted to experience it. I was sheepish about this and mentioned how it might have sounded silly. She laughed in our faces being awfully patronising and making us feel stupid. It was horrible. It wasn't a 'understanding' laugh, it was a 'are you serious' laugh. She even sarcastically apologised for laughing at us. Confirming it was in fact, at us. If she'd have given me a chance to speak, she would have realised that I noticed a couple leaving the swing seats and all I was doing was asking to sit in the now free swing seats. I eventually got that through to her. She then angrily told us we'd have to wait because she needed to clean the table. We told her that wasn't a problem. She then stormed off, wiped the table, clicked her fingers and called us over like dogs. Like it was a real issue... Unbelievably stroppy. Handed us menus and stormed off. I couldn't help but observe her during the service and I was so shocked at her behaviour. Pulling faces behind other customers backs as they were coming up the stairs because she felt they weren't moving fast enough...not communicating with other diners, rushing around stroppy. She clearly didn't want to be there and gave the whole restaurant a really awful and uncomfortable atmosphere. Awful start to the night. I was raging but tried to keep it down for my partner's sake. We were not the only people to notice as another table made a comment about her to us. The food was okay. If you're a home cook then you won't be blown away by it. It was pleasant enough but for those prices (average of 10 pounds per small tapas type dish), it needs to be exceptional and it really wasn't. Far too expensive for what's severed but I understand that's totally subjective. Some may disagree. On top of the expensive bill there's a really cheeky charity donation slapped on. It's uncomfortable to ask to take it off and the whole thing just feels a bit off. I'm always happy to donate to charity but you need to make the dishes more affordable before you pressure people into it. I'd also be curious to whether the company perhaps matches the donation? On a more positive note... Aside for the really nasty supervisor, the other members of staff were absolutely wonderful. Cheery, attentive and lifted the whole experience. The sole reason we kept on the service charge - though it sickens me to think the supervisor may have taken a cut. All in all, for me, not worth it at all. I left financially worse off, insulted and still hungry.

Updated - Feb 2025 Reliably fabulous food and a wonderful vibe here, even on a wet and windy Wednesday in February! This was a business dinner for 3, but my partner and I also enjoyed eating here à deux last week. The menu is excellent, the service is great and the bill is always reasonable. My only complaint, repeatedly, is that although there's an app with a loyalty element (collect a stamp when you eat and with 6 you get £25 off your bill) never has any staff member mentioned it to me when dining or paying. Usually I remember to get the app out to collect the stamp (a clunky but workable system) but sometimes I forget. That's frustrating! It feels like a wasted opportunity. It would be easy for them to ask "do you have our app?" on arrival or when paying, but they never do! Still, a fantastic place we'll visit again soon! When searching for a dinner spot, I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I ordered the *Mowgli House Lamb* with basmati rice(rice doesn’t come with the curry, you need to order separately), as well as the *Gunpowder Chicken*. The *Mowgli House Lamb*, while tender, lacked a memorable flavor. I requested it to be spicy, but unfortunately, the dish arrived devoid of any heat. Perhaps there was a miscommunication, but it fell short of expectations and left me eager to explore other options on the menu next time. In contrast, the *Gunpowder Chicken* was an absolute delight. The dish boasted bold, vibrant flavors that were deeply satisfying. It's the standout of the meal and the primary reason behind my 4-star rating. I would wholeheartedly recommend it. One area for improvement, however, is the lighting in the restaurant. It was not that bright for me that at times I contemplated using my phone's flashlight to properly view my meal. Maybe the area I was seating in did not have the best lighting in the restaurant. A slight adjustment to the lighting levels would enhance the dining experience significantly. In summary, the *Gunpowder Chicken* is a must-try, and with a few tweaks, this spot has the potential to shine even brighter.

Visited here on a Saturday which was as really busy so worth booking in advance. The service was excellent and flavours fantastic. We decided to have the street food sharer and there was plenty of food for the 4 of us including 1 Vegetarian. Our favourite was the Yogurt Chat Bomb

Me and my partner were both very looking forward to trying to mowgli and have been wanting to go for a while. We were sat by the door, away from the rest of the restaurant so already there was little atmosphere. We ordered a set menu with starters and tiffin boxes. We didn't have to wait long for our food(worrying quick) and yet it still all came out cold. The food was lacking in seasoning and flavour, and the curry's we had were basically just chicken floating in watery tomato soup. The menu includes deserts(a scope of ice dream) but after waiting half hour, these still hadn't arrived and we didn't want to wait much longer so asked for the bill and left (they took £6 off for this) The restaurant was busy, and there was plenty of staff on shift, but they all seemed to be standing around waiting for something to happen. Overall we were very unimpressed with the food, flavour & service and would have much preferred going to our local indian

We ate here for NYE and the restaurant was packed. Service was amazing, the food came out quickly and was hot and tasty. We tried several of their signature cocktails as well which were also VERY good. We were a little concerned since some of the recent reviews weren't great, but honestly couldn't have been happier with our experience here.

Food was tasty, decor really nice! Service a bit clunky, waited a while to be served and then had 2 people people come one after the other to serve us, staff seemed to be rushed off their feet, perhaps they need to hire more people? Ordered the potato curry and then was brought the prawn curry but after checking it was actually the potato curry, so again it just felt like the staff were a bit stressed out and rushing, despite being lovely. Would visit again, just feel like service could be ironed out a bit more, especially for a 12.5% service charge!

We went here with our friends for lunch in December, and having read the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, but i'm pleased to say it was very good. Food was excellent. They advised 3 dishes each, but the portions were so good that 2 would be fine for most people. It was very tasty. The service was good and staff were friendly. We will certainly go back.

A really poor visit. Host seemed put out by having people visit the restaurant and was incredibly rude. He spent most of the night at the stand by the door checking his phone. Our server Luke was lovely and tried to explain the menu, but we found he was struggling over the very loud music. It was a little off putting and we could barely hold our own conversation. Our drinks arrived pretty quickly but the food was a huge disappointment. Overly sweet sauces, and meats lacking any real flavour. The lamb curry was swimming in oil and was so incredibly tough that my dad couldn’t finish it. Honestly surprised that Nisha puts her name to this. One of our curries was wrong, but Luke managed to swap it for the correct one. I wouldn’t rush back, and quite frankly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed with the whole experience. Even Luke’s attentiveness couldn’t save it.

Amazing combination of excellent Indian food, efficient but warm service and fabulous interiors - bright and livening - even during the day time! Is fun to sit by the windows on the ‘swing’ seats watching the quiet Dukes lane passer-bys. The open version of the kathi/roll/wrap was unique - both in taste and also tastefully healthy. Fish curry and the basmati rice made a great satisfying pairing. Now going to try out the London branches soon!

We had a little pre-Christmas getaway in brighton and decided we’d go to Mowgli for dinner as we’d never properly had it. The food was absolutely amazing (ended up asking for the cookbook for Christmas) and our host Barry was absolutely fantastic, so helpful and so informative. When we’re back in brighton, we’ll definitely be visiting again!

Disappointing experience. I heard that this restaurant was one reason that Curry Leaf around the corner closed down, which was a shame as Curry Leaf served amazing food. But due to that I was looking forward to some really nice food. In short, the “authentic” (as pointed out by the waiting staff) food was nowhere near the quality of Curry Leaf or Chilli Pickle. I’m hoping that the restaurant was understaffed that evening as they were clearly rushed and service was not good. Will not be visiting again.

As many other reviews have said, if you like Indian food you’ll be disappointed with Mowgli. Every dish is over sweetened and has the same sickly sweet flavour, barely any meat in the chicken dishes, and supermarket Roti bread. Totally inauthentic. Ignore the standard reply from Mowgli on other negative reviews claiming the recipes are from the “founders family”. This is a soulless chain eatery owned by TriSpan Private Equity. You’d be closer to a family recipe going to KFC. Eat somewhere genuinely locally owned instead!

Visited here last night for my birthday, booked very last minute for 9pm. Service was excellent, quick (especially as the restaurant was packed) and everyone was super friendly! Atmosphere inside was amazing, the whole place is beautiful. The food…amazing! We tried 5 dishes between 2 of us which was too much but we left we a doggy bag! 100% recommend!

The food here is excellent- super tasty and layered with so many flavours. As the portions are smaller the food does tend to get cold quickly unfortunately. It’s a cool but somewhat gimmicky decor with fun swing seats that look good but aren’t very comfortable or conducive to speaking with your fellow diners. I think they are aiming for a quick turnaround here as the other seats aren’t very comfortable either. But the food is totally worth it!!! The chat bombs are amazing as are the monkey wraps

We had an incredible experience at Mowgli Brighton! The food was absolutely excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was fast and friendly, with Barry taking such great care of us throughout the evening. A special mention goes to the spicy mango margarita, expertly crafted by Bertie—it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. I couldn’t recommend this place more for anyone looking for amazing food, great drinks, and exceptional service. Can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely disgusting food! We spent £60 on a variety of dishes and not a single one was acceptable. Cold food that had spilt in both bags due to improper packaging. Once that was resolved and we started eating and was completely disgusted. I could sit here and list countless issues with this restaurants food however I’ll save you the time. Just don’t go here, for your own sake.

We order two meals with sides last night, through the web app, which was simple and speedy. Order arrived within 30 minutes, which was excellent for a Friday peak time order. Food was absolutely fantastic, one of the best we have had in many ,any years. Will definitely be ordering again.
