Amazing food, beautiful interior decor, friendly service. Highly recommend the sticky chicken and popcorn chicken for kids. The house lamb was amazing and not too spicy either.

Both my wife went for an anniversary and birthday meal on the 20th October. We've never been to the restaurant before and I can safely say in the 4 days in Brighton Mowgli was by far the best restaurant we went to. The food 5 star The service 5 star The whole evening 5 stars. We would both definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting a lovely evening out.

We were so excited to try this restaurant and had wanted to come in since it opened and when we finally decided to pop in for diner it was such a huge disappointment. We went on a Tuesday night , the restaurant was pretty much half empty yet it took the staff and incredibly long time to acknowledge us and sit us down … and even longer to take our order. They never brought our drinks that we ordered before diner and only after asking 3 times and being half way through our meal They finally brought the 2 glasses of wine that we had order when we first sat down . We were excited about the food , Indian is our favourite food, I travel to India regularly for work and was excited to see on the menu the kind of street food I eat in India . But what a let down that was , the chat bomb was soggy not crunchy and had way way way too much yogurt in fact it’s all you could taste . We ordered 3 different curries to share and they looked and tasted the same … bland and overpowered by chilli , no other flavours coming through. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back , not a great addition to the Indian food scene in Brighton in my opinion. Luckily in Brighton we have a much better choice of street Indian food like Manjus’s

The guy on the front desk doesn’t want customers, there were multiple seats open in the restaurant and he turned away 3 groups of customers (including us) all of which ended up in Indian summer down the road, no customer service skills, no recommendations as to good alternatives, no flexibility when we asked if we could wait to see if someone cancels. Understand if they don’t have space but I think good service would go a long way in making us want to return - would now not bother making a booking due to this experience and though the one down the road was a great alternative

Everything is excellent except 1 thing. I actually don't like to eat in a restaurant where dogs are allowed inside. It isn't a cafe and not all dog owners are responsible . I like dogs but not when allowed near or on the table top

Delicious Indian Street food, in sparkly surroundings, very helpful and attentive staff! We lived for 20 years in Bradford West Yorkshire and so know our Indian cuisine - Mowgli's is the best we have had since moving South! Our second visit and definitely won't be out last ❤️

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Barry in Brighton for making me and my old school friend feel so welcomed. He was so passionate and knowledgeable about all things Mowgli and told us about the origins of Mowgli, how many restaurants you have, where they are, where are his favourites, the dishes and their origins. An absolute star and a benchmark for all front of house to aspire to. Please pass on our sincere thanks. It will be our go to when we next visit.

We absolutely loved our visit! the food was delicious and our server talked us through the menu and advised us if we’d ordered enough or too much. The cocktails were great and we had a few of those. All the staff were really friendly and we were made to feel really welcome and special. The atmosphere was lovely and it was clear to see that everyone was having a great time. I went straight onto to Twitter (X) and commented about what a great evening we had and we got a personal reply from Nisha Katona who should be very proud of the team she has in Brighton!

We decided to visit after walking by and the smell of incredible food was far too appealing to pass up the opportunity - absolute bonus when we saw they have one area with a swing set for the seats! We managed to get a table for the evening and were fortunate to be seated on one of the swing tables which was enjoyable and provides a unique experience. All the staff we encountered were welcoming and friendly. They provided some recommendations as we'd not tried this type of food before and their advice was spot on for us. We tried the yoghurt chat bombs, sticky chicken, monkey wrap and some other bits. We loved everything we tried! Mowgli provides a unique experience that we've not encountered elsewhere with food and we will be recommending to everyone we know to try!

Enjoyable lunch at this modern Indian restaurant. Thought the yoghurt bombs and fenugreek fries were particularly good. No beer on tap so no five stars.

Very good place. Good that you could choose several small dishes so you get to taste more things. Very good food, a bit expensive. Otherwise, it was very nice service, but they automatically took 12 pounds in tip which was a bit stupid, should be something you get to choose yourself how much you want to tip. So the bill was surprisingly expensive. But very fun concept!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mowgli in Brighton, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is vibrant and warm, with a modern yet authentic touch that instantly transports you to India. The food was outstanding — each dish was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and bursting with freshness. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, helping us make perfect choices for our meal. One small suggestion for improvement would be to add a pillow or something soft to the charming swinging seats, which would enhance the comfort even more. However, this is a minor detail in what was otherwise an unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to return and try more from the menu! Highly recommended!

The food was very tasty and beautifully cooked, gunpowder chicken and lamb Karahi delicious, however it didn’t stay warm for long. There is a gluten free menu which is great. It would be nice if they offered a gluten free roti or naan option but not essential. I also found the seating very uncomfortable. Hard wooden seats with no pads or cushions. May not bother some people but if you have back trouble like me, you’d understand. It’s important to make it a comfortable relaxing experience and I was not comfortable sadly.

Our first visit and it didn't disappoint! We were made to feel welcome from the get go, were seated quickly and the menu explained to us. Our servers, Michael, Charlotte and Leah made some recommendations for drinks and dishes and we were very impressed with everything we tried. The food was hot and delicious, came quickly and left our taste buds tingling! The cocktails were amazing - I can really recommend the Chai Rum Sling! Yum, yum! We will definitely be visiting again 😊

This place is catered for non-Asians, I say that because there is zero spice in the dishes. The other thing I didn't like it the optional charity donation. When I come for a meal, I expect to just pay for a meal, and a tip if good. Yes, it's optional, but added by default on to the bill.

Given it was a modern,buzzy restaurant with great decor, this was not quite the street food I am used to. Nevertheless everything was really well done, including the wine list. The service was attentive and flexible. The recommendation to have two dishes per person was, on average just right. I recommend, for veggies, the chat bombs and the keema karma.

Lovely and lush lil place. Really great staff and the swing seats were absolutely delightful! Must say, in good Conscience I wouldn’t recommend the temporal dhal- tasted a lot like BBQ sauce if I’m honest. The ruby wrap was deserving of its name, very very nice. Chicken was also good :)

I had the best meal at Mowgli’s yesterday. From the beginning Cat was friendly, interested and joined in with the jokes on our table. She spoke passionately about the restaurant and told us about the original owner making the ice cream. She’s an asset to the team and genuinely made our evening better by serving our table. We’d return just for her! (The food was was also really really good, but cat was better).

We had an impromptu Bank Holiday visit to Brighton and booked Mowgli as I have always wanted to eat there! Very pretty restaurant, buzzy atmosphere, not traditional Indian restaurant food, but more tapas style ideal for sharing. There were four of us and we tried a number of small dishes, all were interesting and tasty. I don’t eat lamb, but the sauce with the lamb and chick peas was delicious 😋 It was busy, but service seemed efficient. We would go back.

Everything on the menu was superb. Great experience all round can't wait to return to try more from the menu. Cocktails were delicious and inventive. Considering its a chain they do a good job of maintaining character and making you feel valued. Staff all super friendly and the atmosphere inviting. Don't be put off if you can't have a swinging seat theres always next time!

The shop had a trendy, upscale vibe that I really liked, with an impressive interior and a great ambiance. However, the food was a major letdown. Despite the high ratings and the hype, it didn't live up to my expectations at all. I arrived expecting something special, but unfortunately, it fell far short.

We booked a large table and of 8 including a highchair and baby in a pram for Saturday lunch. From beginning to end it was a wonderful experience. Elana and Gee communicated promptly via email to all queries and did their utmost to ensure we had a special afternoon. The food was excellent, we were advised to order 3 dishes each and we got some rise and roti for the table which were lovely. Everyone enjoyed their food. The nearly 5 year old even tried a few bits and bobs too. The waiting team were wonderful, clearing and bringing food over in all the chaos, checking if we needed drinks. Thank you! We’d love to come back again soon.

Two brown people walked into the restaurant, waited for 15-20 mins to be asked for the drink but waitress kept passing our table and didn’t bother to check on us. Other customers started feeling bad for us which was quite embarrassing so we left the restaurant. Can’t believe a restaurant who pretends to be proud about their culture has staffs who look down on color people 👎 Btw we went to dishoom; brilliant customer service and delicious food.

Absolutely taste less and way below average. you are better off having Waitrose ready meal instead. They have spend all the money on ambience but forgot they need a good chef too. Service very poor as well considering they charge service charge. we had to go and pay our bill by the desk as they did not bother to come to our table. check back seemed a tick box exercise.

Would not recommend to Indians/Desis. Exceptionally small portion for the price, hardly sufficient for a meal. We did not order drinks and starters but it looks fine. We ordered two different chicken curry, 1 fish curry and 1 paneer curry and none can be rated more than 3/5 in taste. Rotis not good. Puri was nice but not worth the price. Basmati rice was not really basmati. Decor, atmosphere and service was really good though.

Ridiculously small portions. Rotis are not really rotis... that too not cooked properly. Slow service. Had to wait for another 6 mins for the staff just to tell them that one of the item is missing from the order.

Walked in on a Saturday teatime and managed to get a seat (lucky). Lad at front of house was great and very helpful. Not a traditional Indian restaurant as its advertised as 'street food'. Waitress advised that ordering 2 to 3 dishes per person was the norm. Most dishes were in the £10 range. The food was good except for one that still had the skin on the chicken (the tandoori chicken on a roti with pomegranate seeds). I'm sure that some would prefer skin on, although I'd argue its not the norm in the majority of Indian restaurants (a description in the menu saying the skin was on would have helped), once the skin is taken off, your left with plain chicken. The yoghurt chaat puri's were different and lovely. Portion sizes were 'ok'. Plenty of options for vegetarians. One final thing, I dislike it when 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill - I find it ignorant. The bill came to £58 in total for two people (one drink each - a small bottle of lager is nearly £6) Overall, a pleasant enough experience albeit very expensive for what you get. I would return but, wouldn't go rushing back.

Lovely decor, atmosphere and buzz here. We had the sharing menu, 2 people. The food was great, flavoursome, tasty, real mix of flavours. A great taster. Looking forward to returning and trying more dishes. Only negative would be that all the dishes came together and immediately so we felt rushed, it was difficult to get it all on the table too. We were in and out in less than an hour. Otherwise great.

Had been last here and the atmosphere was sooo exciting to see as for the food was good but not worth a small fish curry dish in a tiffin container for £10.very expensive though just few dish my bill was £95🫢. But really liked the atmosphere.

All curries way too tomato based, member of our party had a tiffin which was picked for her - there were too many tomato-based dishes chosen. No greenery. Service good. Food disappointing. Pay too much for small portions and the rice was extremely salty had to send it back, but it overwhelmed the rest of my plate with salt.

Being an indian was v fascinated by the name while walking down the lane so entered inside though we had our lunch but ordered drinks to enjoy the interiors and the vibe of the place . But we were constantly bothered by the server to order food which we informed not once but many times that we are here for drinks. Then came some guy who lectured us that how their policy is that they don’t let guest have drinks without food. After that they brought us the bill and made sure we leave the place asap . Extremely disgusting experience.

I only tasted the equivalent of teaspoons size of the different dishes ordered by our party, but found all of them completely strange and weird in taste - for me inedible, and nothing like it experienced before and certainly nothing I would have recognised as supposed "Indian" food. Give me the ordinary High Street "Indian" anytime.

I recently dined with 5 friends at Mowgli in Brighton. We all agreed that the service was excellent and the food delicious. I am allergic to garlic and one of my friends is vegan. Our dietary requirements were handled with great care and consideration.

Was really looking forward to my very first visit to this place. Was very disappointed with the food. It is designed to cater to the palate of people who would find mint spicy and thus every dish is either sweet or very sweet. Goan fish curry cooked in sweet sauce was utterly shocking. I have travelled across India and have eaten in all sorts of establishment from fine dinning to home cooked meals. Calling it Indian street food & serving it in Indian steel tiffins, unfortunately does not make the food authentic or good. Wish they had spent the same energy and time on the food menu that they invested in the beautiful decor. Cocktails are good. But overall very low value for money. Do highly appreciate their support to the local children's hospice.

Having been sold on Nisha Katona`s vision and `family recipes` I was looking forward to trying a couple of dishes I`d picked out beforehand. However we were encouraged to go for the set menu of six tapas style plates, whichn was placed on top of the other menu options. This transpired to be rice, potato, dahl, a starter of chick pea yoghurt bombs and one meat and one veg curry. I felt it was `padded out` by the cheap end of the menu and in hindsight wished I had chosen one chicken and one veg dish. The veg option was chick peas which was bland with no veg and the chicken dish was small. Worse was the service which was erratic and disorganised. No-one seemed to know who had been served and who hadn`t. Two plates were plonked in the middle of the table which we didn`t realise were two plates stuck together, and the table wasn`t wiped when they took away the tiffin tins. We had to leave for a show starting at 8 and they were so slow we had to forego our set desert ( ice cream). They did give us brownies to take away instead. It`s a real shame this place has been a contributing factor to a small independent Indian restaurant closing, just round the corner Curry Leaf Cafe, who worked hard to bring us authentic Indian street food for 10 years

Service to order was slow, although the staff were rushed. And the food arrived quickly. Not enough front of house maybe. Food was okay, some really stand out, others a bit flat. I was surprised it was cheaper than expected. Very clean, staff very good. The décor is nice but not to my taste but very well done all the same. Almost four stars I was just expecting a tiny bit more.

Service very poor, eating in public not even goodbye, no food on time and everything served separately ( some of us finished once other just got them food). It’s all funky and easy with the service etc but it’s just not working. Starters were great, main dishes have not seen Indian chef for sure.

My wife and I did an impromptu stop here for cocktails and a brownie when staying the night in Brighton My wife says it’s the best brownie she has ever had Thanks to Kat and Pippa for amazing service and making us feel so welcome And the swinging chairs are super cool!

The best food I've had in a long time. Had the sticky chicken, coleslaw, bread, lamb and amazing pudding. Great friendly staff and good atmosphere. 100% recommend

Was nice as celebrating a big birthday. Food was good. Little on the expensive side for the size of the portions you get. Also beware of a service charge and a involuntary donation of £1 to a charity in Brighton.

I've been there 3 times so far, each time on a different day and different time of the day. This place is always full (even on a Monday evening during quite heavy rain outside) and that says A LOT. There's a reason Mowgli is so popular :)

Me and my boyfriend have visited Mowgli's many times and have always had a fantastic experience. Not only is the place beautiful and the food delicious, but the staff are amazing too. Shout out to Isabelle who served us recently and especially Pippa who served us multiple times and have always made us feel very welcome. They are both such lovely people. Will definitely be back for our next celebration!

I visited Mowgli,Brighton on 08th July 2024, and I have to say, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. only positive thing is the atmosphere and the service. We were 5 people,came starving ordered Goan fish curry,aunty's Prawn curry,Mowgli paneer with rice n breads. Goan fish curry was disaster.sweet n sour n black in color. Chef need to do a research on Goan fish curry...or change the name in your menu. Prawn curry was like prawns in tomato puree. Paneer was just ok, compared to fish n prawns. Rotis were hard Rice cooked without salt Very small portions were small considering the prices on menu. Went with high expectations and came out totally disappointed. Never recommend this place to anyone.

This place is so cute!! The fairy lights and decoration makes it so special. The team were very friendly and accommodated so well to our allergies and dietry requirements. They also made sure that we got a table with swings which was so kind as we hadn’t booked but walked in when they were quite busy. The only thing we found not so great was that the portions were not so big which made it less worth the money. I would definitely recommend to any vegans as they had a whole vegan menu which was so appreciated!

First visit here. Won't be the last. Interesting twist on Indian cuisine served as sharing plates. Nearest comparison is tapas but Indian. Food well prepared and terrific for spice lovers. A lively way to spend a Friday evening. Or any other for that matter.

Could do better. Not all food is authentic Indian. Dabba concept is good but proportions are mismatch. Indian masala chai is just a masala tea bag in hot water and not authentic Indian chai. Very disappointed with chai. Cocktails were good. Can try once if you are visitor in Brighton.

Good food and loved the atmosphere.

Food was nice and the service was excellent from too young ladies. Vegan partner was cater for well with a whole separate menu which is a win. The street food approach of it served when it's ready was a let down. While I tucked into my food choices my partner was left waiting quarter of an hours for hers which did not make for a social experience. Tables can feel like your on top of other guests. Angry bird, the spin on coleslaw and the chat bombs were all wonderful.

Cute decor (didn’t sit on a swing) and fantastic food which seemed small portions upon delivery but was actually filling and didn’t need more. Relatively reasonably priced with drinks came out about £35-40 per head. However and appreciate its newish (?) the service was disorganised for a relatively quiet Saturday lunch - nothing 3-4 staff shouldn’t be able to deal easily with in terms of numbers of covers. Multiple staff serving multiple tables meant our table was left 30 mins to be cleared after we’d finished and getting attention and the bill took some effort.

Came here for my birthday today our firstvisit, ..service was excellent, and so were the starters & cocktails. However, the dhaal and roti, keema were really disappointing no flavour..roti were hard. Definitely won't have mains again if we return.

Mowgli is above average for an Indian restaurant, but that's not a high bar. Most of the issues are mild and can taste mild if you are used to proper curry. It's very noisy, the seating is uncomfortable and it can be hard to get attention.

The food was really tasty (especially the yoghurt chat bombs) and would have received 5 stars but it was spoilt by being barely lukewarm. Nobody asked us if our meal was okay at any point, not even at the end when we paid. It also took ages to get the bill and then a further 20 minutes waiting to pay it. Overall it was a disappointing evening out.

The first time we have visited Mowgli and based on the menu we were really looking forward to it. The food does not disappoint, it is tasty, spicy and very moorish with small portions that are ideal for sharing. What is disappointing is the rest. The food is lukewarm warm, which is hugely disappointing and the service is poor to say the least. Having received the bill - which we had to ask for as we seemed to have been forgotten, it took another twenty minutes, again having to catch the waiter after he had been to two other tables who arrived after us and paid before us, before we were able to pay and leave. Unfortunately based on this level of service Mowgli at Brighton is not a restaurant we will be returning to!

Exactly what not to do for a solo diner. Nice bustling dining area but, as the worst restaurants do, was given a table out near the toilets where no one else was seated. Moved upon request.No sign of drinks order after 20 minutes ( bottle of lager) " we only have one bartender and he's busy". Food was very sweet but okay and didn't taste marinaded or Indian at all. In and out in 40 minutes. No one cleared the food and couldn't get the bill without going to the till ( where the waiter who served the food was great). The mum and daughter who sat next to me hadn't had a drink or even a menu in the 20 minutes or so that they were there for before I left. Overall, a poor experience and not sure why people in Brighton don't go to Chilli Pickle instead.

Funky looking restaurant but the food wasn’t great the Goan fish curry was overly sweet, the 2 different chicken curries were awful, all the food came out super quick which always worries me the Cole slaw was very cold, its all pre-made, (Indian brake bros). Our plates were left on the table after we had finished for ages. Don’t recommend this for Indian street food.

Food portions are so small for their prices. Chicken curry had literally one small piece of chicken in it and paneer curry had 5 small button size of pieces. Spent £35 but was still hungry when left as portions were small. Never going back again.

Underwhelming visit. Butter chicken was good but portions were tiny; same tiny portions for rice. Service was rubbish. We had to ask for someone to take our drinks order after sitting with menus for 15 minutes. Drinks arrived after the starters. Once we finished the food, no one offered dessert menus or more drinks, which we would have happily taken! Bill took forever to arrive and pay for. Wouldn’t return.
