First time here after a family recommendation. Only two servers for a busy lunch time. They were polite but so rushed and thus inattentive. We had the £25 each sharing menu : starter, rice, roti, potatoes, dhal and three chicken dishes followed by mango sorbet. Good value for money. The chef chooses so you are in for a surprise.

Having had a great experience at the Liverpool restaurant, we chose Mowgli Brighton to have lunch with family who were visiting from France. We chose the sharing lunch menu and every item was amazing. So fresh and bursting with flavour! Even the gin and tonics were special. I love the decor here and the presence of enthusiastic friendly staff made our visit an all round excellent experience! Thank you so much

On both visits the food was not served together, thus half of us got what we ordered but had to wait nearly 20 minutes for the rest of the groups food to arrive, it came out as rice and breads then by the time the main part of the food arrived the rice and bread was cold, as was the meals of those whos had been served 20 minutes before the rest. The food is actually good but if I go to a restaurant with people I expect us all to be served food at the same time without not half of us to start then a 20 minute wait before the other half of the group get served.

The restaurant has a jungle theme with rope swings at many of the tables for chairs. We came for lunch on a Saturday and it was very busy. We waited to be let in and after a moderate wait were seated. Ten minutes before someone came and took our order for drinks. Eight minutes later the drinks arrived. Another eight minutes and someone came and took out order for food. We were informed that the food came when it was ready. I ordered the super green chicken curry which was not unpleasant but there was little trace of any ginger, cumin or chilli as per the menu. I wouldn't have it again. I also ordered the "Angry bird" which came with the "Popped mustard Mowgli Slaw". The chicken was very tasty and consisted of two grilled chicken thighs, sadly both of mine were burned. The Mowgli slaw was frankly disgusting, it consisted entirely of limp red cabbage with a very light covering of a dressing, absolutely no evidence of any popped mustard. I didn't eat it. I tried, but it was tasteless and old. The rice we had came in a small pot lacking any of the cardamom or cumin that the menu claimed. My wife had the Mowgli house lamb which she really liked this is the only thing that we tried that we would recommend . She ordered the roti bread to go with it, they were very small. The food appeared over the course of about 25 minutes, indeed after 20 minutes we had concluded that the "Angry bird" was not coming when it suddenly arrived just as we were about to finish. We asked for the bill twice but it never came so we gave up and went to the entrance and paid on our way out. To sum up, It is a case of the Emperor's new clothes. It's all style over substance and nobody pointing out that it's all actually very poor indeed. We won't be back.

Unfortunately, this didn’t live up to expectations on a number of fronts. We sat on the swinging chairs in the window which were uncomfortable and entirely impractical. This is a basic fail for a restaurant. And sadly the food was unremarkable- either too sweet, too salty or just bland on a number of dishes. The lights were pretty and made for a nice atmosphere. But, overall this place is more style over substance.

As avid foodies, we have explored numerous Indian restaurants across the UK and recently, we visited Mowgli Brighton drawn in by its vibrant ambience and positive reviews. Unfortunately, our excitement turned to disappointment as we realized that, despite the appealing décor and warm atmosphere, the food failed to deliver the authenticity we were hoping for.We ordered a selection of popular dishes, including couple of starters and mains with potato and Chickpeas curry with puri and Roti. While the presentation was visually appealing, the flavors were generic and lacked the depth and authenticity characteristic of real Indian food.

We were so excited to try this restaurant and had wanted to come in since it opened and when we finally decided to pop in for diner it was such a huge disappointment. We went on a Tuesday night , the restaurant was pretty much half empty yet it took the staff and incredibly long time to acknowledge us and sit us down … and even longer to take our order. They never brought our drinks that we ordered before diner and only after asking 3 times and being half way through our meal They finally brought the 2 glasses of wine that we had order when we first sat down . We were excited about the food , Indian is our favourite food, I travel to India regularly for work and was excited to see on the menu the kind of street food I eat in India . But what a let down that was , the chat bomb was soggy not crunchy and had way way way too much yogurt in fact it’s all you could taste . We ordered 3 different curries to share and they looked and tasted the same … bland and overpowered by chilli , no other flavours coming through. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back , not a great addition to the Indian food scene in Brighton in my opinion. Luckily in Brighton we have a much better choice of street Indian food like Manjus’s

The guy on the front desk doesn’t want customers, there were multiple seats open in the restaurant and he turned away 3 groups of customers (including us) all of which ended up in Indian summer down the road, no customer service skills, no recommendations as to good alternatives, no flexibility when we asked if we could wait to see if someone cancels. Understand if they don’t have space but I think good service would go a long way in making us want to return - would now not bother making a booking due to this experience and though the one down the road was a great alternative

All the staff we encountered were welcoming and friendly. They provided some recommendations as we'd not tried this type of food before and their advice was spot on for us. We tried the yoghurt chat bombs, sticky chicken, monkey wrap and some other bits. We loved everything we tried! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mowgli in Brighton, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is vibrant and warm, with a modern yet authentic touch that instantly transports you to India. The food was outstanding — each dish was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and bursting with freshness. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, helping us make perfect choices for our meal. One small suggestion for improvement would be to add a pillow or something soft to the charming swinging seats, which would enhance the comfort even more. However, this is a minor detail in what was otherwise an unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to return and try more from the menu! Highly recommended!

Walked in on a Saturday teatime and managed to get a seat (lucky). Lad at front of house was great and very helpful. Not a traditional Indian restaurant as its advertised as 'street food'. Waitress advised that ordering 2 to 3 dishes per person was the norm. Most dishes were in the £10 range. The food was good except for one that still had the skin on the chicken (the tandoori chicken on a roti with pomegranate seeds). I'm sure that some would prefer skin on, although I'd argue its not the norm in the majority of Indian restaurants (a description in the menu saying the skin was on would have helped), once the skin is taken off, your left with plain chicken. The yoghurt chaat puri's were different and lovely. Portion sizes were 'ok'. Plenty of options for vegetarians. One final thing, I dislike it when 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill - I find it ignorant. The bill came to £58 in total for two people (one drink each - a small bottle of lager is nearly £6) Overall, a pleasant enough experience albeit very expensive for what you get. I would return but, wouldn't go rushing back.

Was really looking forward to my very first visit to this place. Was very disappointed with the food. It is designed to cater to the palate of people who would find mint spicy and thus every dish is either sweet or very sweet. Goan fish curry cooked in sweet sauce was utterly shocking. I have travelled across India and have eaten in all sorts of establishment from fine dinning to home cooked meals. Calling it Indian street food & serving it in Indian steel tiffins, unfortunately does not make the food authentic or good. Wish they had spent the same energy and time on the food menu that they invested in the beautiful decor. Cocktails are good. But overall very low value for money. Do highly appreciate their support to the local children's hospice.

Having been sold on Nisha Katona`s vision and `family recipes` I was looking forward to trying a couple of dishes I`d picked out beforehand. However we were encouraged to go for the set menu of six tapas style plates, whichn was placed on top of the other menu options. This transpired to be rice, potato, dahl, a starter of chick pea yoghurt bombs and one meat and one veg curry. I felt it was `padded out` by the cheap end of the menu and in hindsight wished I had chosen one chicken and one veg dish. The veg option was chick peas which was bland with no veg and the chicken dish was small. Worse was the service which was erratic and disorganised. No-one seemed to know who had been served and who hadn`t. Two plates were plonked in the middle of the table which we didn`t realise were two plates stuck together, and the table wasn`t wiped when they took away the tiffin tins. We had to leave for a show starting at 8 and they were so slow we had to forego our set desert ( ice cream). They did give us brownies to take away instead. It`s a real shame this place has been a contributing factor to a small independent Indian restaurant closing, just round the corner Curry Leaf Cafe, who worked hard to bring us authentic Indian street food for 10 years

Food was rubbish and drinks were awful. Food was excessively spicy (yet I like spice) , Tried to raise with manager but was ignored. Poor staff member left to deal with terrible food and drink.

Service to order was slow, although the staff were rushed. And the food arrived quickly. Not enough front of house maybe. Food was okay, some really stand out, others a bit flat. I was surprised it was cheaper than expected. Very clean, staff very good. The décor is nice but not to my taste but very well done all the same. Almost four stars I was just expecting a tiny bit more.

Fantastic, flavoursome, vibrant and super tasty Indian street food. The menu is just the right size covering a brilliant variation of food types & styles. The service was friendly and attentive. There's a great & fun atmosphere, with the swing seats being a big hit for many. Highly recommend this restaurant if visiting Brighton.

Service very poor, eating in public not even goodbye, no food on time and everything served separately ( some of us finished once other just got them food). It’s all funky and easy with the service etc but it’s just not working. Starters were great, main dishes have not seen Indian chef for sure.

My wife and I did an impromptu stop here for cocktails and a brownie when staying the night in Brighton My wife says it’s the best brownie she has ever had Thanks to Kat and Pippa for amazing service and making us feel so welcome And the swinging chairs are super cool!

The best food I've had in a long time. Had the sticky chicken, coleslaw, bread, lamb and amazing pudding. Great friendly staff and good atmosphere. 100% recommend

Great food, poor service. Was left unattended for long periods after ordering drinks with different servers each time. Still had a good time though

I've been there 3 times so far, each time on a different day and different time of the day. This place is always full (even on a Monday evening during quite heavy rain outside) and that says A LOT. There's a reason Mowgli is so popular :)

Was nice as celebrating a big birthday. Food was good. Little on the expensive side for the size of the portions you get. Also beware of a service charge and a involuntary donation of £1 to a charity in Brighton.

Me and my boyfriend have visited Mowgli's many times and have always had a fantastic experience. Not only is the place beautiful and the food delicious, but the staff are amazing too. Shout out to Isabelle who served us recently and especially Pippa who served us multiple times and have always made us feel very welcome. They are both such lovely people. Will definitely be back for our next celebration!

This place is so cute!! The fairy lights and decoration makes it so special. The team were very friendly and accommodated so well to our allergies and dietry requirements. They also made sure that we got a table with swings which was so kind as we hadn’t booked but walked in when they were quite busy. The only thing we found not so great was that the portions were not so big which made it less worth the money. I would definitely recommend to any vegans as they had a whole vegan menu which was so appreciated!

I visited Mowgli,Brighton on 08th July 2024, and I have to say, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. only positive thing is the atmosphere and the service. We were 5 people, came starving ordered Goan fish curry, aunty's Prawn curry,Mowgli paneer with rice n breads. Goan fish curry was disaster.sweet n sour n black in color. Chef need to do a research on Goan fish curry...or change the name in your menu. Prawn curry was like prawns in tomato puree. Paneer was just ok, compared to fish n prawns. Rotis were hard Rice cooked without salt Very small portions were small considering the prices on menu. Went with high expectations and came out totally disappointed. Never recommend this place to anyone.

First visit here. Won't be the last. Interesting twist on Indian cuisine served as sharing plates. Nearest comparison is tapas but Indian. Food well prepared and terrific for spice lovers. A lively way to spend a Friday evening. Or any other for that matter.

Worst curry I've had in years, foolishly let my boyfriend order the takeaway for once and because our usual was closed her picked this place. The curry might as well have come from a jar, we ordered a bhuna and a garlic tikka - they both tasted the same apart from one had a few chunks of garlic in it. Bland, tasteless, the chicken was rubbery tasted like the crap you get from Tesco, probably reheated. Absolutely no flavour whatsoever, the poppadoms were like the ones you get out of a packet, one portion of rice was so sticky it was more like sushi rice. My partner can cook better curry than this place and that's saying something because he's not the best cook! Embarrassing waste of money
