Bayleaf in Brighton and Hove

Our first visit and won’t be our last. A very warm welcome from the staff. Great location with views of the sea from some tables. A very pleasant environment. Excellent food with plenty of choice. Presented well and piping hot. Spice levels were just right. Nice house white wine.Overall a 10 out of 10.

Difficult to see the ingredients in the oil. Food poor and swimming in oil, most of which had to be poured down the sink to get to the 'food' - just horrible.

Food, drinks and service all superb. I wish I live closer than I do - I'm in Oxford. May make a special trip to Brighton to dine with you again. Even my lactic intolerant daughter found an Aubergine dish which she said was excellent, rare praise there!

Whilst visiting family in Brighton my Brother took me here and I must say the food was the nicest Indian cuisine I've tasted in a while, which was complimented by immpecable service, I will most certainly be going back on my next visit to Brighton, it was a culinary delight, Nice one The Bay leaf.

I found the Bayleaf on Tripadvisor. Pretty central and a short walk from our hotel. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was good with some enigmatic decor - not like the standard Indian restaurant. Would definitely eat here again.

Tasteless. No flavour. Keema nan tasted and looked like it just had plain mince in it. When I stirred my bland curry suddenly there was a taste of chilli as though that was dumped in the bottom of the bowl and the tasteless generic chicken stew ( probably used for all dishes) dumped on top. Surfaces were sticky back of the door filthy as were the toilets which stank of dirt and grime. Pushy staff.

As a solo diner, I’ve faced all kinds of experiences, here was one of the best. Felt incredibly welcomed and comfortable. Cozy ambience paired with attentive service made my meal feel like a personal retreat. 100% coming back

Friends and I ordered a takeaway from Bayleaf in Brighton after seeing all those 5-star reviews, but honestly, it was a letdown. Everything tasted pretty much the same – overcooked, too salty and just didn’t seem fresh at all. Really wanted to like it, but it didn’t live up to the hype at all. Just a heads up to anyone thinking of trying it out, it might not be all it's cracked up to be. Makes you wonder if all those glowing reviews are legit, doesn’t it? I've just scanned their recent reviews, and I can see repeated titles and very similar wording. TripAdvisor should investigate this.

If you are ever in Brighton we would highly recommend the Bayleaf. My husband said he had one of the best Lamb Dhansak's he has ever eaten. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The restaurant was lovely and clean and the staff are very friendly.

All very good. We had the table at the front so could look out at goings-on outside, but also enjoy the roomy and well decorated restaurant interior with palms and ornamentation. Food took its time coming - a good sign! - and my paneer lajawab and mushroom rice was a good mix of vegetables, cheese and flavours without being drowned in spice. And a mango lassi to go with - long time no see! Had a tricky but light-hearted entry with wheelchair navigating an entrance table, and an on-going encounter with a palm tree which led to a few jokes with the friendly staff.

As a lone female diner. I always visit this restaurant when in Brighton. When I visit it is always somewhere that I feel comfortable dining alone and service is good and food quality has always been excellent for me.

Very nice meal with my sister and nephew. Food was excellent, reasonably priced. Service was a little lacking, could have been a bit more attentive on a fairly quiet Tuesday evening. Overall, would definitely go back, recommend you give it a try.

Bayleaf was exceptional. My friends and I have tried every Indian restaurant in Brighton and can safely say Bayleaf is by far the best. The customer service was lovely and had a great atmosphere. We ordered several different items from the menu that were recommended by the server and each one was incredible. I highly recommend the naga murugh and the Bayleaf Khasi.

Probably the best (very best) curry we have had outside of India or Sri Lanka. Clean, great service, amazing food. Highly recommend you search this place out if you find yourself near the beach in Brighton.

Wow, Totally amazing. Popped in to the Bay Leaf today as our favourite restaurant had no tables available. We have passed by this restaurant so many times and not given it a second glance. So glad we decided to give it a chance today, The restaurant is super clean, inviting, and comfortable. The staff where lovely and very attentive, and the Food & Drinks where out of this world, we had Expresso martinis, then Passion fruit martinis both where delicious and so moreish. We had a selection of starters and then the Passanda, Rice & Nan breads. These all tasted delicious and the portions where huge. Have already told our friends and are going back next weekend for another taste of delight. Highly recommend. 5 stars is not enough for this little Gem. Thanks so much

Such a gem of a place. We are visiting from Oxford and this was just round the corner from our airbnb - food was superb - even all 3 kids ate every last bit! Staff were amazingly friendly - really made our new years and will be back on our next visit to Brighton.
