My favourite weekly restaurant. The best Southern Indian food!

A friend and I booked a table here and I was really shocked at the rude service we received. The food was ok, the chaat although a big portion wasn’t a typical samosa chaat. The toppings were really sad. A couple of onions and a light drizzle of yogurt. Not great! The dosa was nice but as we finished our meal the bill was brought out abruptly and when we asked to eat dessert we were told that they needed the table and she wanted us to pay. Really bad etiquette! Not ideal if you are wanting a nice dinner without 👀 waiting for you to leave. Was genuinely told “can you leave I need the table”😂

Exceptional curry and amazing value. It's not quite the best curry I've ever eaten, as I've never had better than India itself, but this is not far off it. Just excellent food. Will definitely be back. Delivery was super fast too for a Saturday night.

Food was authentic and delicious, full of flavour. We asked questions about the menu which were answered and we were pleased with our choices. Would recommend.

The food is always fantastic - great traditional south Indian selection. Great service and really reasonably priced too. The dosas are a personal favourite - they’re absolutely massive & so tasty! Definitely recommend for lunch or dinner. Also, it’s BYOB which is always a winner

Wonderful place and authentic south Indian food. Their dosas, uthapams and idlis are super tasty. If you do visit, I would definitely experiment and go beyond chicken tikka and try a Chettinad instead. Service is also lovely with very friendly staff. Booking is definitely recommended as it can get pretty busy.

There is too much noise and service it’s not good and we order paneer curry so there is woman serve the food we tell her dosa is good but this curry is no good test like too much lemon and less salt and test like ketchup so we told her so she said us this our test if you don’t like this up to you and so no good service at all and she so rude that’s why I never recommend to go there and eat

Amazing Indian food in Brighton! The staff were so kind and friendly, and the whole experience was wonderful. I ordered the Gobi Manchurian — it was absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My friend got the Andhra chicken, which looked and smelled incredible. We also shared Peshwari naan and Saag paneer, both full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Everything tasted authentic and fresh. I loved the food and the warm atmosphere. Definitely coming back!

The ghee dosa is massive and delicious! All of the food we ordered was flavourful. The staff are nice. The venue is small and we recommend booking.

You will get authentic Indian taste at a very reasonable price. It’s a very small place so worth considering booking in advance. I personally think that south Indian food was amazing. there is a old English lady works there. She’s really hard-working and kind

I and my family cherished this scrumptious I strongly recommend one of if not the best Indian dish I’ve had in my years of experience the lamb masala dosa best with family and a great talking space the serve was truly tremendous as they have many lovely staff members AMAZING!!!!!!!!

We’ve eaten at Madrasi’s a number of times now - with and without the kids - and always had an exceptional experience. We’ve tried most of the menu and it’s all been incredible. The service is also friendly and welcoming. Can’t recommend it enough.

A little corner of South India . I usually have a masala dosa which is wonderful. It’s better to book a table and eat in because I don’t think masala dosas travel well!I have had the chicken chettinad which is delicious . It’s a tiny restaurant, you will probably need to book a table. They do a lot of takeaways which tends to slow up the service in the restaurant, the food is worth the wait

Taste of South India at Its Finest! I visited Madrasi so many times, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Masala Dosa— the best I’ve ever had! The dosa was perfectly crisp on the outside, with just the right balance of crunch and softness. The potato filling was flavourful, making every bite a burst of South Indian goodness. But what truly elevated the experience were the sambar was absolutely rich and packed with authentic flavours, while the coconut chutney was fresh, and the perfect complement to the dosa. Every element of the dish was prepared with such care and authenticity that I felt like I had been transported straight to a bustling eatery in South India. I also tried their other dishes as well it was also delicious. Beyond the food, the service was impeccable. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and passionate which made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re a fan of South Indian food or just someone who loves exploring new flavors, Madrasi is an absolute must-visit! Highly recommend!

Best dosa in the UK. Especially the Podi dosa which I would bet is your meal of the year already. Lovely humble and helpful service, if you are visiting Brighton it is worth a small ride on a bus or walk along the seafront to get here.

Super simple little eatery but nice vibes, friendly service and great food. Awesome value for money. Also BYOB which makes for an even cheaper meal out. Very lovely server gave us good recommendations on what to order. There is lots on offer! Our server was lovely and happy to help us choose the best things on the menu. We were keen on the Dosa so he talked us through the different options. We shared a (recommended) crispy cauliflower starter, it was good size for sharing and was delicious. Lovely crispy texture and tingly spicy sauce. We both had Mysore Masala Dosa which were big, filling and super tasty. Bill came to less than £30 including tip. Loved it and will be back.

Not enough south Indian food in the world let alone Hove. Like being back in Tamil Nadi. Not quite the same price as in India but not expensive for here and just as delicious.Add in a Lassi and it's happy days all round

So happy there is finally a proper South Indian restaurant in Hove! We love dosa's and the dosa's they make here are authentic and delicious. A nice selection to choose from too. It would be lovely if they added one more to the menu with spinach, perhaps a spinach paneer one :) .... The starters too are sublime! We went as a group of 5 with my baby son and were greeted by the friendliest owner. Big smile and top service. A taste of real India.. I hope they grow and expand into the area. This is a great local restaurant. The food is very good, well spiced and plenty of flavour. We have been lots of times and tried lots of dishes, all were excellent.

I ordered a Masala Dosa, and it was perfection—crispy, packed with flavor, and served with fresh chutneys and a rich, aromatic sambar. Every dish tasted homemade and full of authentic spices. Delicious south Indian food and friendly service

The portion wasnt that big for the amount of money I paid , £10.99 for Lamb! And without rice … Also my husband’s chicken tikka was so juicy like chicken soup. The plain naan bread £2.99 and sorry but tiny portion… so we are not going to order from you again.

Quite literally the best meal I've ever had. With the low price and the tiny plates you are used to getting in restaurants now days I was not expecting the mountain of delicious food. I spent £60 and took home enough for two more meals. The lamb Chettinadu was something sent by gods! Also BYOB which is always a winner

It's a small restaurant but with great food and service.. the food is just amazing.. Paneer masala dosa- amazing , the sambar and other chutneys were tasty.. Gobi manchurian- crispy and delicious ( a must try for everyone) Chicken chilli - super tasty Chicken noodles - awesome Butter naan - delicious Sweet Lassi, Mango lassi, masala chai - all refreshing and tasty The menu has veg as well as non veg dishes.. good options available.. Special praise for the service provided by the lady managing the restaurant.. The saying proved to be true. " big things comes in small packages".. a must visit for family and South Indian food lovers..

Really good, authentic food and really good value. I had the dosa, which was almost as big as the table and the flavours were excellent. The staff were very friendly and quick. It's quite a small and basic setup, but if anything it makes it feel more down to earth and authentic.

I rarely give 10/10 because perfect is unrealistic, but Madrasi hits top marks! The food is authentic, delicious, great value and better than anything I've tasted outside of Southern India. The staff are professional, friendly and efficient. I will definitely return. Fantastic food!

Hove's best kept secret!!!! What an amazing restaurant serving authentic South Indian food. Service with a smile, brilliant atmosphere - what more could you ask for. I had veggie samosa's and chicken kothu which were both absolutely lovely. I lived in Sri Lanka for 6 months last year and I actually think the kothu I had at Madrasi's is better than any I had in Sri Lanka - and I had it just about every day. Also, it's BYO so you can save some money by nipping into Tesco's before for some wine. I can't wait to go back again - the dosa's look amazing - as did everything else I saw coming out of the kitchen.
