Quite simply the best curry ever

While on holiday on IoW, we rather fancied a curry one night so looked up local Indian restaurants for takeaway. We found the Red Chilli and had a delicious meal. Great flavours for the various curry dishes we had and very good naan bread also. Even my young daughter who enjoys spicy food, but is not (yet) a fan of Indian food really loved the vegetable curry accompanying our byriani and tucked into the other dishes we had also.

We ordered vegetable Bombay, naan and veg biryani. We have had to choose take away since there was no availability in dine. We requested to make naam thin and crispy but we realised that the request was unheard of. However, the food was very tasty and so satisfactory, almost authentic Indian taste. They gave us 2 papadams along with biryani which we really appreciate but we were expecting curd or raita also to make it complete. The overall experience is very good.

Came here on a recommendation, food was really good and probably one of the best naan breads I’ve had in a long time as well. Will definitely be going back for more.

The food was really really really tasty! We were blessed not to have to wait to be seated but that also meant the atmosphere was fairly quiet and it didn't help that the main sound system had an issue on that evening. Nevertheless, the waiter offered to play some background music from his phone, which was awesome! We were served very quickly and everyone's meal was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend eating here or ordering a takeaway from them. Could this be the best Indian restaurant on the Isle of Wight? 🤔

The four of us had an enjoyable curry in July 2023 - our friends had visited Red Chilli before and rated it highly. It's a smallish restaurant and the tables are close together. Food was good as well as the service.

Dined here last night (Sunday) and our meal was fantastic! So glad that it’s reopened again. Husband is vegetarian and the paneer jalfrezi is the absolute best.

Awful experience. Placed a £80 order for deliver, took 2 hours to arrive. Food was cold on arrival. Ate as was hungry, food was bland, cold and lacked any real taste. Disrespectful to serve this. Would not recommend, do not order here!

Hubbie got food poisoning from here. Delivery was executed by Masala Bay as well, which was only found out upon turning up to Red Chilli and finding it deserted with a sign on the door.

One of 2 local indian restaurants . This one is my preferred place for take away. However if you want to sit down in a spacious surrounding its a bit small. The Masala Bay restaurant has a lot more seating and still serves good food.

We visited for dinner. The space was quite functional but not very atmospheric Most dishes ordered were well-enjoyed. The poppadoms were lovely. Naan was rather greasy. Unfortunately they don't offer coffee. Service was friendly but quite slow, but they were busy. They were very helpful in modifying dishes to suit us.

Take away ordered and rest on time. Chicken korma was nice, coconut flavour. Vegetable biryani was average. Chicken korai very oily but good spicy flavour. Naan breads ok but greasy. Popadoms too as well. Overall not bad but less oil would have made it better.

I can’t believe we went all the way to ruined our eve, ordered prawns dish, they served paneer dish with uncooked Naan blaming the order taker for chef mistake, both management and chef refused to replace or fix the problem. Still paid the full price for this horrible service don’t know why this restaurant are still running.

My sister and I visited this place 3years ago, we had such a lovely meal we were looking forward to the next. We visited again the other day and unfortunately could not say the same thing. Our starter came with the main meal - not good! My main dish was far too hot ( not what it said on the menu) so when asked if everything was ok, I did say it was too hot he said, I can correct that for you so took it away along with what my sister had left. I had asked to take mine away.... I still couldn't eat it, it was the same, infact I would go as far as to say he tipped what my sister had left into mine as it turned the colour of what she was eating!! The reason we will NOT go back is because my sister, after the meal, visited the toilet... And if you are Hot on hygiene as we are it begs the question what is the kitchen like!!!! I speak as I find, too many restaurants getting away with poor hygiene these days my eating out days are becoming fewer unfortunately. Where are the inspectors that should be checking these places.

All the tables are sticky. Prawns like rubber. Curry sauce had no flavour. Rice was acceptable. Overall tasted like a meal my nephew would make, and he can't cook.

My favourite curry house on the IOW, nice friendly staff and interesting menu. Some items can be a bit sweet. I am always surprised it isn't rammed every night. Best Naan ever !

Wow the staff were so lovely and accompanying from the beginning and the food was delicious! Half of our table have bad intolerance to any dairy and staff knew exactly what had dairy and even offered to change a dish of needed. Very impressed. They also had a great little baby seat too. Highly recommend. Don't be put off by the slightly tired exterior. We'll be eating here again!

We didn't even make it inside. We were a group of 7 adults and 3 children, and the staff said we must order a minimum of 7 main dishes not including starters or breads/rice. That would have been too much food. We didn't stay and left..

We have had many takeaways from Here this was the first time we’ve eaten in the restaurant. The food is good service friendly , lakes a little atmosphere . We will be back .

Not recommended at all . As we entered they gave us terms and conditions that we should mandatory choose four main course as we are four Come on guys , not everyone are big eaters . Not everyone wants a main meal, Can be shared too . So silly, grow up people

Best mushroom bhaji i've had in ages! Food stayed hot for our 15 minute drive.

The food was terrible. The channa masala was dry and flavourless. The tandoori chicken tasted so awful that my friend didn’t eat his appetiser. The lamb main was excessively greasy and resulted in much of it being thrown away. Convinced that the mango chutney was watered down resulting in disposal. No idea what the neon green sauce was meant to be. What a complete waste of £30. Having tried many Indian take aways this has been the worst. Buy a ready meal and microwave, it’ll have more flavour and be much cheaper.

They gave us yesterdays nans which were dry and flat. Plus I felt bad the next morning! Never going there again.

Excellent food & friendly service. The special fish bhuna and Bombay aloo stood out. The wine was reasonably priced. Overall a must visit if in Ventnor.

We were attending the IOW Festival on 18/6/22 but arrived the day before and, after a quick visit to Ventnor, decided to go for an Indian. A quick look on Tripadvisor showed us that the Red Chilli was ranked No.1 so that was good enough for us. We got there shortly after 6pm and were the only ones there. Not entirely unusual as it was quite early. The decor is a bit naff, and the tables were sticky but we’ve been in worse and the food has been great. We went straight to the main course, not ordering a starter.....but were neither served, nor offered, poppadoms and dips. Wtaf is that all about?? I have never....NEVER...been to an Indian restaurant where poppadoms haven’t been served, or even offered. For my main I ordered a Lamb Tikka Balti and Keema Naan. We’re com the Midlands, home of the balti. ‘Balti’ actually means cooked and served in a balti bowl. This wasn’t. It arrived in a square bowl. That’s not a balti...it may as well been any old curry. Plus the lamb didn’t taste anything like tikka. On top of that there was hardly ANY keema in my naan. Also it cost £40 for 2 mains, 2 naans and 2 drinks. For an Indian that’s quite expensive. Finally my wife went to the loo there. Apparently there was paper towels all over floor (bear in mind it hadn’t long opened) and having now been to the IOW Festival, the toilets there were better AT THE END IF THE NIGHT (when they’re at their most unpleasant)!! How this has got to be ranked No1 is beyond me. We actually then did walk past the 2nd ranked Indian Restaurant (Masala) which looked absolutely lovely inside and had many customers inside (the Red Chilli still had only us when we left). Not only that, looking at some of the tables when we walked past) they HAD POPPADOMS AND DIPS! I think we’d cocked up big time and should have checked that place out first. Would I recommend the Red Chilli? No. As far as Indian restaurants go...and we’ve been to many...it’s poor

Good takeaway, nice food, but getting expensive, 2 mains, peshwari naan and lemon rice almost £30,but they did give free pappadums.

We moved to Ventnor in Jan and have been trying the various restaurants- all have been great so far until……. Had heard it was same owners as Masala Bay which we have been to a couple of times and was fab so decided to give Red Chilli a try as we noticed it had opened. Wish we hadn’t - we were only ones in there - food was worst Indian we have ever had anywhere. Heater or fan screeched constantly - husband said biryani was ‘worse than anything I have ever cooked at home’ (and his home made curry’s never get eaten). bread burnt as was salmon. Asked if we wanted to take left overs home husband said yes but only as he was embarrassed at the amount we left- straight to the dustbin.

Ordered a takeaway as food from here is normally excellent, ordered online and asked for food to be delivered between 6.15-6.30. At 5.15 gets a call from driver can he deliver now, wife says no because we ordered for an hour later and not ready. So what time was food cooked as they don’t open till 5 Why give people a choice of time if your meal is being driven around for over an hour Needless to say food Luke warm bland and not nice, but expensive for the service you get. Now find out different restaurant doing the meals

Another fabulous tasty take away curry. Even grumpy hubby adoring the lamb madras! Our order by phone taken by a delightful young lady who spoke clearly and slowly and got everything down correctly. All the containers were clearly marked with their contents and this was a big bonus. Such delicious varied tastes and textures-we are so lucky to have them close by in Ventnor and delivered by a delightful courier.Thank you and never change!!!

Excellent, staff efficient and friendly

Excellent food, hot and flavoursome, when part of the order was wrong, called up and the correct curry was delivered quickly.

We got a takeaway from Red Chilli delivered the first night we stayed in Ventnor. Really fab food, excellent value for money. Decently spicy and very flavoursome. Chicken Dansak was my favourite. Sag Paneer was really lovely too

Ordered a takeaway it arrived on time, straight away noticed the bag of chips were split and all everywhere in the bag, they were cold and really hard and crunchy like they were reheated and before looked at the rest decided couldn't eat them! The curries were half full of oil floating on the top half which made the curries really runny so we had no choice but to call and get a refund! Will not be ordering from their again!

Absolutely fantastic is the only way I can describe our experience! The food was incredible, especially the chicken biryani! We had 6 dishes, and each one was a burst of flavour, the portions were very generous too! The staff are incredibly friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. Brilliant food, brilliant staff, and a brilliant restaurant, what more could we ask for! Can't wait to eat here again 🥰

A tiny restaurant on the High Street in Ventnor which did surprise us. Very understated décor. Food arrived very promptly and very friendly waiter. I had chicken korma, saag paneer and rice - my partner had tandoor chicken with bombay potatoes. The food was very tasty and a lot of it. Would I go again yes.

Had a takeaway from here Sunday night. The food was spot on, arrived on time and really tasty. I had the chicken tikka Balti and saag paneer. Both were delicious

What can I say, 5 out of 5 because the food was simply amazing, service was fantastic and very much value for money. Highly recommended.

Popped in here not expecting much, but was blown away with the delicious, freshly made dishes. Something for everyone, and a great veggie selection. Not a fancy place, but superb food.

Went here while on holiday in the Isle of Wight, everywhere was very booked up, but the staff at Red Chili managed to fit us in. Food was amazing and the waiter was really friendly, would definately recommend, and we will definitely be retuning on our next trip!

Lovely lamb bhuna, delicious peshwari naan fresh from the oven! I was accomodated as a walk in which I appreciated very much. The server was nice. Food was fresh, hot, delicious! Only downside would be the cleanliness and the lack of atmosphere

We wanted some thing quick and easy for our last night in VENTNOR. So we opted for an Indian takeaway that delivered. It arrived promptly and hot. All dishes were pronounced excellent. The price was reasonable as well. Averaging £14.00 a head. No photos as we ate it too quickly!!!

We ended up in this restaurant when all alternatives were full booked! It has been a really nice surprise: great food ! A bit slow the service but it was worth it! Definitely I will recommend it for an Indian meal.

Takeaway food for 3 adults and 3 children. Absolutely first class and enjoyed by all. Nonsense to have to write 100 words, what else is there to say.

Delicious,tasty curries always .Family run.A small dining room but with social distanced tables so book before you go! We prefer take away at present.Discuss your preferences before ordering as the chef will adapt to your taste ,so we like the Bombay Aloo slightly more spicy and the Spinach dal thick. I recommend the Honey chicken and coconut rice with a peshwari nan if you like your curries sweetish and a super way to introduce first curries for kids.

Red chillies said there is no booking systems system first serve first serve when we reached there he started to abuse us and was extremely rude ....no one ever go there

We ordered by phone, they delivered a wonderful feast! The flavours were fab, lamb ceylon is my favourite, also tarka dhal, and they were delicious as were the other dishes. Prices weren't cheap but so very worth it.

I am vegan and am always very well catered for here. The food is delicious and the portions are massive dont ever change Love Sandra <3

We walked the the takeaway but it was shut with a little sign saying to go round the corner to the Masala restaurant. When we paid for this it came to £63, which was extortionate for 4 people and this was not the prices from the Red Chilli takeaway! Even on the bank receipt it said Red chilli. The bill should have been more towards the £45 mark. This is VERY deceiving to customers as the phone number still worked from the Red chill but they take the Masala prices ! Be warned!

This is the worst Indian meal I have had for a very long time. Ordered take away for the family. Wife threw her king prawn puree in the bin as it was inedible. I had a tandoori chicken which was cooked fine but then for some reason was covered in a sweet and sour sauce. The curries have a thick layer of oil over them so at least you’re getting your calorie count in if you’re feeling underweight. I gave this 1 dot because (1) that’s the minimum I can and if I could give it less I would, and (2) the popadoms were quite good.

I really want to give a good review .. businesses are having it so difficult at the moment. But unfortunately the food was oily, lacking in flavour, and just generally unpleasant to eat (take aways). We won’t be getting food from there again.

Quite superb on a cold night . Order by phone collect by car or have diner delivered. Staff are great , happy to help in these crazy times . My chicken Dansak was really good.

Ordered a collection last night. Wasn't too impressed. My other halves masala was very runny, not the creamy consistency you would expect and the chicken itself had a strange smoky taste. My lamb bhuna was gorgeous, the lamb was flaky and it melted in the mouth. My friends lamb however, was like chewing an old boot.The staff we're lovely, very friendly but I think we just caught them on an off day.

Mid week, mid September, in Ventnor and looking for some where to eat? Decided on the Red Chilli, a warm welcome on arrival, a very nice meal with great flavours and the staff were friendly and could not do enough for my wife and me. Would love to go back, but to far from Wiltshire, a pity.

Good food slightly dated and tatty interior.

Genuinely one of the best Indian restaurants we have visited in a long while. All the food was perfectly cooked and spices/flavours were excellent. Good, quick service and really reasonably priced. Lamb was particularly nice and very tender!

Went with a couple of friends midweek. The tables were rather cosy but clean. Quick service and excellent quality curry. We were recommended to get a rice each, but certainly was not necessary! One was plenty for two hungry adults. At the end, we asked if we could take home our leftovers, a different man quickly came out and put the curry into boxes, but his hands were filthy, certainly won’t be eating those leftovers.

Small inside and not many tables. Lucky as walk ins on saturday to get a table. Food really nice. 5/5. Staff really good

Came here for a family meal, first time trying something new, I was very impressed the service was second to none, the staff friendly &amp; attentive, the food delicious served hot &amp; melt in the mouth, atmosphere was calming &amp; relaxing overall a wonderful experience highly recommend &amp; cant wait to come back again.

On our first night at ventnor, we didn't fancy a seat down meal so we wanted a take away. Phoned up and order and collected which gave us a 10% discount. It's was a Saturday night and waited about 30min which I thought was pretty good since coming from London!. We had a chicken curry, a chicken biryani, rice, saag paneer and peshwari naan. It was a really tasty meal, not greasy at all. The staff seemed friendly. I would order from here again!

We were visiting the island for the bank holiday and were looking for some food on a Sunday to take back to our holiday rental. We found Red Chilli really easily and were able to part in the town car park (free after 6pm) to collect our food.The service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. Our food took around 20mins to prepare (order ordered a paneer starter, chana masala, takes dal, sag bhaji, plain rice and naan.The food did not disappoint - thoroughly delicious!We had a drink whilst we waited and the gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and attentive.Would definitely recommend to anyone fancying takeaway Indian food in the Ventnor area. They also offer sit in.

Top drawer curry house. Not bags of ambience but the product more than makes up for it. The menu is extensive and the dishes we've tried on multiple visits have all been exceptional. If you can judge a curry house by its bhajis then this is a real winner. You won't be disappointed if you give it a try.

We arrived on the late ferry and were so grateful to find somewhere open and the food was delicious!

Dined here last night (Friday) and our meal was fantastic! Cosy and warm....2 heaters supplied ample heat. Order taken within 5 mins of arriving and food came quite quickly afterwards. Everything we ordered was just so tasty! Will definitely be back.

In our so far fruitless quest to find a really good top quality curry house on the Isle of Wight I googled top recommended curry restaurants and this one appeared on the list with a number of recommendations. We arrived approx. 1900 hrs, it had been a very mild winters day, the first thing we noticed was that its small, 24 chairs in all, no toilet visible so we presume to use it one would have to go thru the kitchen but I cannot confirm this as we made no use of it. The second thing we noticed as the only customers at that time in there was just how cold it was and waited for it to warm up, it never did and we ate our meal with coats and scarves on, for that reason alone we will never return, if they dont warm the place up they dont deserve customers, just before we left two elderly couples arrived and sat down, they all had 't' shirts, shirts and jumpers on so from this we assume its always cold in there. There was only one guy at the front of the house spending a huge amount of time taking telephone takeaway orders, after the initial poppadum's it took well over 30 mins for the main dish to arrive, I tightened my scarf and my wife put her coat back on due to the cold and this made it doubly unpleasant in the long wait, its possible the delay was due to the large amount of takeaways being sent out. We ordered a lamb korai and a chicken Saag, my wife said her meal was good, mine was mediocre, tough pieces of meat of which I left about a third of the dish as I was worried about my teeth breaking on the meat (I am of an older age group). So to sum up, the place was freezing, the food took ages to arrive and my dish was mediocre to put it generously, had the food been good and the place warm we would have been customers for life but as it was we will never ever return but if you do dress for the North Pole.

As there was a very limited choice of restaurants open on Dec 30 during our NY stay in Ventnor we opted for a curry. The Red Chilli had the best reviews so we opted for there.

We went midweek so it was quiet, but staff very friendly and welcoming, had a good meal, poppadoms and chutneys excellent, chicken shashlick was tasty and dopiaza was very good. Excellent Naan bread and onion bhajis. Definitely go back and seemed busy for take away as well.

Saturday 1st December 2018 Last night's takeaway was incredible . Congratulations to the chef who produced the best curries ever. Small , intimate ,very friendly with always amazing tasty food. I stepped out of my comfort zone last night (lol) and tried coconut rice.It was fabulous-sweetish and complimented the peshwari nan and Honey Murghi chicken. The non sweet dishes we had were spicy and super. Thank you Red Chilli. We know how hard you work x Annabelle and family.

Decent indian restaurant for the isle of wight. We were quickly sat and well waited on during the entire meal (we were the only ones in there). Being vegetarians they catered to our needs.

The best Curry on the Isle of Wight. My partner and I travel from Cowes to get a takeaway from Red Chilli. The staff are polite, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. There is a further 10% off if you collect, and they often come with a few free extras. We would recommend the Tikka Masala and Jhinga Chittniad.

Great meal last night really fresh tasting and good portion sizes and small but clean and uncramped restaurant. Friendly staff definately recommend.

If u are from Asian background they don't serve you. They will say the restaurant is fully booked even the restaurant is empty and no sign on the door saying the restaurant is fully booked. They guy is very rude . Hope it shut down soon.

Normally have a take away from here and its always lovely, but we had a early meal in the restaurant last night.Everything was fresh, hot tasty and beautifully cooked. Still my favourite curry house on the Island. I guess you could moan that it looks a little scruffy, but hey........ the food and service is great! Looking forward to going back again.

We ordered a take-away for 11 people and collected. We got a 10% discount for collecting as opposed to delivery. The food itself was very tasty and excellent quality. Didn’t think anything was greasy. Would recommend a take-away from here !

What we love about this little curry house is that it never disappoints, even after all these years.Even though it was packed, our food was tasty ,hot and perfect.

Its friendly, slow service and average Indian food. I would not go there again as there are much better on the Island.

We chose this place after reading reviews on here and thought we'd give it a try. To be honest, it doesn't look great from outside and even inside it's not exactly the most salubrious of surroundings, but once we ordered, what a result!

Super Indian cuisine to eat in or takeaway (they do free deliveries within 3 miles). Happy, fast service.

We arrived on a Monday evening, the place was empty. Always a worrying sign. Service wasn’t bad. The food was very poor, it looked reheated and tasted overly salty. I’ve eaten Indian food for over forty years, and this was in the bottom ten of meals. Not good, we won’t return.

Had friends over and we all ordered an Indian take away but we all have very different tastes. The Madras was excellent, the Korma was excellent and the Briaiani was also first class. Would definitely recommend to all.

I've been to this restaurant with some of my friends and the staff are friendly and food are perfect and wonderful, also kind gentlemen's work there offered me to take my food home as we're full up couldn't eat more and the chef is the best cook we thanked him for the lovely meal and we can't wait to go back their again.

I cannot say what the main courses are like as I did not get past the poppadum's in their truly dirty pressed metal serving bowl which only became visible once the last one was taken out as they were larger than the bowl. The waiters response to me saying I was not ordering anything else because the serving bowl was so dirty was that he was sorry but it was grease, I have not seen grease that looks like black grime before and which also makes parts of the bowl rusty.

Best Indian in Ventnor... The menu has all the traditional favourites and then some really good house specials. The seating is nothing special, but the service is always friendly.... They also do a great value meal for 4 and they deliver locally.... Always going back...

Visited on bank holiday Monday 7th May 2018, we were the only people in and waiter was pleasant but not friendly.

Small but friendly. We enjoyed a quiet meal here with friends. As well as the usual fare there were also some nice new dishes to try. The crispy chilli chicken was lovely
