Eastern Eye in Isle of Wight

We have home delivery at least once a week. Never ever any complaints from us. Have missed them first the 2 months of refurbishment

We had a take away delivered to where we were staying. It arrived on time and was piping hot. My friend had a chicken tikka masala which looked good and I had a chicken dhansak. The dhansak was very creamy with all the lentils but had a bit too much of a spice kick for my liking, still ate it though (with lots of water) and it was good. Decent size ortion of rice too.

Amazing food and great portion sizes Curry mains we amazing jalfrezi and De Gama. We really enjoyed our meal

We booked a table for our last night in Sandown, the food was good and reasonable only one bad point is they give you takeaway menu and say prices are bit extra for dine in so you don't know proper price, they could do a dine in menu in a plastic coating and wipe down after each use, other than that we enjoyed meal.

2 Popadoms and chutney tray ..... £5 - really ? Everything reheated in microwave. Prawn puri and chicken tikka masala tasted the same. Service slow - one waiter. Two kingfisher. Rice, naan, spinach bhaji £45. I’ll do the jokes. A complete rip off. Truly terrible.

Recommended by trip advisor reviews & Boojum & Snark ( the microbrewery a few doors down) we ordered from the takeaway menu, and the choices were in plenty.Food ready on time & piping hot when dished up 15 minutes later. Thoroughly recommend. Will definitely use again.

Eastern eye is my go to, absolutely love the food and the staff are so friendly and polite. Great customer service and great value aswell. Their butter chicken curry is amazing too!

First time eating here but it definitely won’t be the last. The food was beautiful, prices reasonable and the service very friendly.

Ordered a takeaway whilst staying locally on holiday. Delivered for free which was good. The food was lovely and prices were closer to what we are used to at home than chinese takeaways on the island which seem inflated. Spent almost £50 so was disappointed not to have a few popadoms throw in but was a nice meal nonetheless.

Really good food , staff were friendly and the service was excellent, and good value for money we had to book a table due to covid and they operated a one way system the only down side was they did not ask for our names for track and trace

We got a takeout as they were fully booked. Ordered samosas, salmon tikka curry and two tandoori rotis. Food was yum.

We enjoyed the naan, chicken tikka masula, and pilau rice however the medium chicken curry was too salty and bland. We ordered delivery and the food was slightly delayed but it was expected as they were busy.

OMG!! Please IGNORE all negative reviews. The food here is second to none, absolutely delicious. Great service from helpful and attentive staff! All safe guidelines being totally implemented and therefore making the customer experience very relaxed! This restaurant is a MUST when visiting the Isle of Wight. 5 stars is not enough and does not do it this justice!!

We visited for the final night of our holiday and left feeling extremely disappointed. First thing was we were handed a menu and the waiter told us the dishes would be a bit more expensive than they were on the list as we were eating in. He then asked if we'd like some poppadoms, not mentioning the price, and brought out 5 poppadoms with a tray of chutneys (that we didn't ask for), when we got the bill later we had been charged £7 for the poppadoms. Aside from that, the food was pretty mediocre and way over-priced. The beer was nearly £5 a bottle. The place seemed majorly understaffed with one waiter running round like mad and the manager stood on the side loudly taking orders on the phone for our entire meal. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all. It was the worst meal of our holiday and somehow also the most expensive.

Was really looking forward to having a curry. Complete let down. Service slow, only 1 waiter, took ages to take our order, and then our drinks were eventually brought over after finishing our expensive popadoms. No atmosphere here at all, no music, just a guy behind a bar taking takeaway orders. Very dated restaurant. Won’t be dining here again.

Great tasting, good portions and quick. We would have gone to the restaurant to eat but thought they were only doing take away... but they ARE now open. Weve been several times and would go agin.

This was our first takeaway in months and it was well worth the wait. The food was ready on time and was piping hot even by the time we got home. The meal was lovely, so tasty with just the right heat kick. I strongly recommend the Eastern Eye.

We ordered a delivery from Eastern Eye as a colleague was leaving our department at work and we are currently unable to visit the usual place we frequent due to lock down. Eastern Eye delivered pre ordered meals for 20+ people. The food arrived hot and on time. Each bag was individually labelled so we knew exactly who had ordered what, this enabled us to select our meals with social distancing and good hygiene practices kept in place. I highly recommend Eastern Eye as they provided fantastic service and delicious meals in challenging times.

We ordered from here last night. Good portions, delivered hot and nice flavours. Both had grippy tummies this morning though. May have been the spices used or hygiene. We are big curry fans and don't normally have an issue. Same dishes we have had in this restaurant before too, with no problem. May be a one off, so will try again another time.

My wife, son and I enjoyed our visit immensely. Service was a little slower than we are used to but nothing terrible. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Reasonably priced we will definitely visit again

Sadly on the last two occasions I have suffered a bad stomach within a couple of hours of eating here. The first time I thought maybe it was a bug but on the next occasion two of us had bad stomachs in the night. Too much if a coincidence. It is very quiet now never many people their even on a Friday and Saturday night so I am guessing they are storing food not used poorly. The rice we had was cold when presented so must have developed bacteria since it had been cooked. We won't be going again and having looked at their food standards rating it is only 2 so this explains our bad stomachs.

Excellent take away and restaurant, food is always spot on. We have a takeaway every New Years day as it's a friends birthday, we have been using them for years and we all look forward to having 'our curry' on this day. Never had a dud dish, the staff are pleasantly helpful and polite nothing too much trouble....would highly recommend!

We had dinner at Eastern Eye on New Years Day after watching the annual firework display at Sandown pier, which was brilliant. We ordered Eastern Eye Royal Delight, which was described as the finest dish on the menu. Can't verify this claim as we haven't tried every item on the impressive menu, but it was a superb choice and very tasty, as well as being beautifully presented. Also ordered was a Lamb Vindaloo, which was very tender, lean and delicious. I ordered my meal entirely from the starter menu which included the usual Vegetable Samosas, Onion Bhajis, Pilau Rice and Peshawri Naam. All excellent. We all shared the dips and Poppadoms and were very impressed with the Lime Pickle. All served by very attentive and helpful staff in a relaxing environment. We will be ordering a takeaway next from here which I am sure will be just as lovely.

We visited our father on the Isle of Wight.He loves his curry and regularly eats at the Eastern Eye. We have been before and had another fantastic meal. This is by far the best Indian restaurant on the Isle of Wight. We started with King Prawn Puri, and Chicken Tikka.. Superb. Then we had Chicken Tikka Dhansak, Lamb Naga, Salmon Tikka, and the children had Chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka Massala. We all had different rice dishes and different breads. Everything was superb. I wanted to leave this review as its always great when you find a truely outstanding restaurant. The staff are superb and make you very welcome. Great food yet again. We will be back. Thank you. Visiting family and went here on a Thursday night, surprisingly busy but service was excellent and the food was top notch and me and my wife have had a lot of curry!! Friendly staff who were not rushing you but very attentive. We had onion bhaji, a tikka masala, and I had the chefs speciality memmsabs favourite, loads of flavour and I had it madras hot ,the garlic rice was lovely as was the pilau and the coconut rice, and the 2 lamb tikka bhunas were great to!! And then to mop up the rest we had a garlic nann and a peshwari nann both were excellent and some of the nicest food we have had. So basically for a good friendly restaurant with excellent food and service get down to Sandown and get in the eastern eye as you won't be disappointed!! Look forward to returning next time we are over 5* well done on running a great restaurant.

We eat Indian food fairly regularly and have used all of the local takeaway delivery companies. Our favourite was one in Lake until it had a terrible hygiene review! Another in Shankiln became expensive so we returned to Eastern Eye. It must have changed hands as the food is absolutely excellent, very good value and always serves generous portions. So, our favourite it has become, keep up the standard and we will enjoy many more delicious meals. Thank you Den Clare

Ate here last week, I had the coconut rice, chicken tikka and Bombay aloo, my husband had the tikka masala and keema rice. The food was the tastiest we’ve had in a very long time. Fair price. Great attentive service from the owner and his son. Nothing was too much trouble. Next time you’re in the Isle of Wight, be sure to visit this restaurant .

Had a meal here as I had a 10% voucher while staying at The Wight hotel. The device was very good and the food very good. The prices were very reasonable. The service was very good and didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive.

Had a great meal with my dad here tonight after looking for a good curry house. Theres very mixed reviews so my expectations were low when I arrived, but we were very impressed with the quality of food.

We had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic Indian Restaurant yesterday with family. We normally go to Ryde for our Indian treat but, after reading some good reviews we decided to give our local a try. WOW! From the moment we arrived to a warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere to the wonderful food, full of spice and flavour, we knew we had made a good choice. Every dish was delicious, well presented and a taste sensation. 2 of our party were vegetarian and they finished every dish and said it was very good. We can highly recommend the Chicken Biryani and the Garlic Lamb washed down with Kingfisher Beer, a taste sensation. We will definitely be back. Thank you Eastern Eye for a wonderful evening an establishment to be proud of on our High Street X

Fab meal for a family of 4. We had pops and then main - skipped starters as not that hungry. Real variety of dishes and everything we had was excellent! Nan bread (Peshwari and Keema) both yummy. I know it doesn't look much from the outside - but go on in - your tummy will love you for it!

Awful! The most stingy buffet I've ever seen. No desert and only boney chicken wings and onion bhaji for starter. Main courses were all chicken and mediocre at best. The manager was very rude and full of bad attitude for some reason too!! AVOID!!

Called ahead to book a table to visit with family. The person who attended the phone curtly said 'There are no tables' and hung up. There wasn't the faintest tinge of apology in his tone. He obviously didn't seem to care about the customers. Though we stayed a few days in Sandown we decided not to visit this restaurant.

My father has lived on the Isle of Wight for 5 years, coming here from London. He loves his Indian food and has been eating it for over 50 years. Last night he took my family for a meal at the Eastern Eye at Sandown. We sat in the window, overlooking the high street with views of the ocean. This was a truly exceptional meal. We started with Butterly King Prawn Puris, my daughters had Onion Bhaji and Chicken Tikka. It was fantastic. Really tasty. Perfectly spiced. Great portion size too.. We then ordered Chicken Tikka Razalla, which was from the specials, Lamb Naga, Salmon Tikka, Chicken Tikka Massala for the kids, with Bombay Alloo, Bhindi Bhaji, mixture of rices, Garlic Naan, Chapati, stuffed Paratha. Wow. When it arrived it was perfect! Everything was so fresh and beautiful . Everyone was so pleased. Pleasantly surprised at the quality.

Excellent! We ate there almost every evening while we were on the Isle of Wight, brilliant service and food. the staff looked after us and ensured everything was up to standard.

Food was great, service friendly and attentive. All freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommend for a good Indian meal! In fact we are going back again tonight!

By far the best restaurant I have had a Indian meal in, staff are fantastic and very helpful and the food is to die for, 10/10 on all aspects, I have been eating Indian food for the past 30 yrs and have eaten all over the country, and this restaurant goes that extra mile, well done you guys

We have been going to Eastern Eye for our Indian meals our and takeaways for 6 years now and it has never let us down! We always have a lovely experience with friendly, attentive service and excellent food! Our dishes are always delicious and fresh and it’s the best Indian restaurant in our opinion :)

Amazing curry, as hot as we expected for a naga chicken dish! Speedy service. A must........the chilli nan bread!

Unfortunately, two out of three of us had stomach upsets following our take away meal last night 16th May 2019. The two who suffered had eaten butter chicken (which was incredibly sweet and not to my taste) and chicken korma. The third person had chicken tikka marsala and was not affected. We haven't used this restaurant previously but the Trip Advisor reviews were good so we tried it. I left a message on the restaurant's answerphone today to advise them of the problem we had experienced but unfortunately they did not bother to respond. Needless to say I will not use them again and cannot recommend them.

What can I say - we eat Asian food all the time but this is on another level. The food is absolutely delicious - I had chicken ceylon (a dish we just don't see usually on a menu) it was fabulous. Rice and Naan was delicious too. If you like Asian food you definitely need to pay a visit if you're near Sandown. I wish I could just take the place home with me :)

We were staying on the outskirts of Sandown and went into town for a curry. The food was well-priced, tasty, and the service attentive without being overbearing. The evening was only slightly marred by a 'family from hell' on the next table whose antics were somewhat offputting and prevented us from relaxing properly.

We had an excellent meal here. The waiter was very friendly and helped with advice on various dishes. The food was piping hot and served reasonably promptly, considering they were quite busy at the time. We will certainly eat here again.

Had a nice curry from here. It was delivered promptly, very reasonable price. And great tastes in the mix. I had the set meal. Which has loads of dishes and highly recommended.

Got a home delivery and went to take a bite and found some brown thing in my food rang up and they didn’t want to know and called me a lier don’t eat from there!

The curries are simply delicous, non greasy and always made to order. If you want it extra spicey or just tasty they will make it to your preference. Service is lovely and they are open quite late. Wine selection is good we chose the sauvignon blanc which went really well with our food. Absolutely scrummy.

This place was amazing! Absolutely wonderful. The service was superb, food was 11/10, and the ambiance was warm, welcoming, clean, and just really nice. As For the menu, there were loads of specialties that I've never seen on other menus, one of which was the Achari lamb curry which has become my favourite after one try. The curry itself was flavoursome and had very little oil which we appreciated. We also ordered the mixed grill and again, very nice, the chicken wasn't dry, and everything was well seasoned. Overall, would recommend and will be returning again.

This restaurant came recommended by a local pub. I ordered a takeaway meal of chicken tikka , pilau rice , garlic naan bread and chicken Madras. It took 20 mins to be ready. The rice and naan were acceptable , but the chicken tikka was meagre in quantity and my madras tasted and looked like watered down brown gravy , absulotely tasteless and worst curry I have ever had. Forgot to mention the poppadoms too which tasted like they had been shop bought from a supermarket . Coming from Birmingham I know a good curry house and this is definitely not, they fob you off with tasteless rubbish , strongly do not recommend.

Took 2 hours to be delivered, meal was missed off of order! Poor customer service! No taste to meals just spice, poppadoms stale and portion sizes small. Poor in every way :(

Thought we would try this as haven't had an Indian meal for a long while ..not happy from the start .phoned to order staff rude on phone. Husband picked up order again staff not friendly .got food home was cold .not had that wow factor just average taste. Prawn Korma there was about 10 tiny prawns in it .just a tub full of sauce .for what we payed for it was very unhappy .Will not recommend.......

Fancy Indian meal on our 3rd night at Sandown. Once again, this restaurant recommended by the hotel. Greeted by the waiter and seated down. Took our order for drinks and starters.Fo mains we ordered lamb razala, plain rice, onion barjis, lamb tandoori and bindis with pilau rice.. It was good food as we expected as we often have indian meals. Great flavour and balance of spices. Enjoyable meal. Staff were friendly and its good value meal.for two £50 inc drinks. Good local Indian restaurant. We will be happy to visit this one again.

We ordered lamb madras, chicken tikka masala, onion bhajis and special rice. Food was excellent, as was the service. We were told delivery would be approx 30-40 minutes, but actually arrived in around 15 minutes! There is another local Indian restaurant and takeaway in Lake, but due to a recent bad experience and bad press we will now order and visit Eastern Eye without question!

Ordered a takeaway from here while on holiday last week. The food was delivered promptly to the reception of the holiday park we were staying at which was great as they phoned us 5 minutes before they arrived so we could get there.

We have been to this Indian twice now on our trip to the island, this time round upon entry we were standing at the door way for around 15 seconds or so till we were pointed to our seat. The waiter left our candle unlit sat on the middle of the table, which normally I wouldn't be too fussed about a candle but when it's your anniversary and having to ask for it to be lit, isn't great.

My husband and i have have previously eaten here as we visit the island once a year.

My boyfriend and I come here quite a bit to collect our takeaway and we usually order in the restaurant. The people are so lovely and polite, and usually we go outside to wait and they’ll bring it to us. The food is constantly exceptional, we usually have a prawn korma and one chicken korma, both beautiful. The usual naan bread and poppadoms which are lovely. Today 22/08/18 I had a solo visit and I had it for delivery. It was easy to order, and the delivery man was so so lovely. I cannot fault him, he was so kind, he was an elderly gentleman but he was truly such a lovely man, and I would hope he would receive a thank you from the managers or whoever sees this. My food today was lovely, nothing wrong whatsoever, a great temperature. By far my favourite Indian restaurant on the island. Thank you for a continuous great service and I will continue to come back

Not sure about adult diners but come in with a child and be made to feel inferior. Food is average, rubbery pieces of chicken weren't pleasant...oh and if I order a g & t could you put some g in it cos being charged g & t price for a glass of just t was taking the P. Unimpressive all round.

Lovely Indian takeaway meal that was delivered to the campsite we are staying at. The meal was fresh, hot and very tasty. Most of my family are vegetarians so taste and attentive cooking are essential. They even threw in a complimentary Cobra beer- much appreciated, thank you.

Me and a group of friends had booked a weekend away to Sandown and luckily came across this lovely restaurant.We actually ended up dining here a couple of times. The service here was wonderful, with staff paying attention to our specific requirements despite some of my friends being quite fussy, they still made the effort to make sure we had a wonderful evenin The food was to die for, honestly one of the best indians we've had in a long time. I would definetly recommend this place to anyone who wants great food, great service with a great atmosphere. Hopefully will be back soon.

This is one of the best places I've eaten in isle of wight. Indian food, but with a fusion style. They bring the plates to you as they are ready. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and shared them, so we spent the entire time eating as they brought the food, plate after plate. It was a great way to share a meal and the food is amazing. WE ordered a second of a few plates because they were so good! Service is excellent. This is a great place for a romantic date or to get together with friends & family!!!!!!

Started with Tandoori Chicken which was so hot as it was fresh from the Microwave, the curry was disappointing and the Garlic rice was awful as they burnt the Garlic. One to avoid.

The food was basic. Not a lot of flavour, chicken in the dhansak was dry. Onion bhajis were tasteless. Keema naan was really nice though. The coke was flat poured from a large two litre bottle. £1.85 for approximately a third of a pint. When I complained the waiter took it away poured another one, stirred it dropped in an ice cube and said: there you are fizzy! It still tasted flat, however. My wife ordered lamb biryani. Tiny pieces of dry lamb. Very dry rice, there was no boiled egg. The curry choice was supposed to be medium. It was very mild. No attention to spice subtlety at all. The vegetables seemed to be a handful of mixed frozen veg and some leeks with a few potatoes. I cannot see how this is 4 star. Certainly not on the evening we went there I am sorry to say.

I went to Restrurant last Friday evening with my wife, eldest son & daughter in law. The restaurant was fully booked & very busy throughout the evening, but the service was wonderful. Restaurant manager & his staffs were as usual very efficient, friendly & made sure that every one was served swiftly with total professionalism.. Our food was delicious & our evening was a very enjoyable. We visit Indian restaurant regularly & will definitely highly recommend this Indian restaurant & looking forward to visit them again while there. In the mean time thanks to everyone working at the restaurant for your hospitality.

The place wasnt very busy and that nearly put me off, but Id read the reviews on here and thought I fancy a Ceylon paneer curry, so Im going in.

We have been here a few times and recently switched here for our local indian takeaway as well. The food is very nice, buffet is good value. Cobra big bottles of beer at a good price as well. Staff are very friendly and polite, service is a tiny bit slow but we are never in a rush anyway so this doesn't bother is. Excellent chicken tikka masala and they put a decent bit of spice into spicy curries. Would recommend!

Had an early dinner here, and food was good, prawn puree and mixed kebabs to start, few more unusual dishes to try for main. Service was quick and efficient. Bit pricier than I'd expected and most frustratingly they didn't have a high chair!!! This, I thought was unusual, and made meal trying to feed our young daughter entertaining although a little frustrating. Is this usual for a restaurant?

I am surprised that has got such favourable reviews. We went here to have dinner on our last night at Isle if Wight. It looked like the staff didn't know how to smile or be polite. I asked if we can get a high chair and received a stern no. After some delibers

This was our first visit to this restaurant although we had read reviews on tripadvisor. Restaurant was very nice the selection of the food and quality was excellent as was the service. This is definitely an Indian Restaurant you should visit when in Sandown.

Had a meal with my husband here Saturday for my birthday as Indian curry is my favourite , very polite staff and got to say the curry I’ve ever had really nice food was really impressed 😆

We have visited many times and enjoy the food but last night was chaos very overbooked with a young female waitress run ragged while other staff just 'looked on' like rabbits in headlights!!! A birthday party of 20 plus around 30 other people and groups of people who were not booked just created carnage . We ate eventually and left quickly. There seemed to be no Manager taking control and eventually the young girl broke down in tears and a GUEST took her outside to calm down. Ridiculous situation.

After receiving an advert for a take away service for this restaurant we decided to treat ourselves. The food was cold. The food was not at all up to the normal standards for even the worst takeaway curry I've ever had back in the 80s on the mainland. Expensive and no flavour and the chicken was low standard produce to put it politely. Very very disappointing. There are no decent Indian restaurants here. Curry has always been our favourite meal, but sadly not here. Don't waste your money. Supermarket ready meals are better!

Highly recommend Eastern Eye. Always get a takeaway from here whenever we fancy an Indian. The food is fantastic! If you don’t fancy picking the food up, you can get it delivered. Delicious

Don’t go near this place no matter how drunk you are!

Had a takeaway from the Eastern Eye last night, what a good menu with loads of choice. The meal itself was excellent and loads of it and excellent price, I looked at other reviews and saw something about being expensive but I do not think so. Good price for what you get. I picked the meal up and restaurant looked clean and a nice place to go, we will eat here again, would recommend.

Six of enjoyed the eastern eyes hospitality on a Friday evening. Only a couple were in the restaurant, the food and service was very good,best curry I have had for a long time

Instead of our usual Swad we tried the Eastern Eye just down the road for a change, and were extremely pleased that there is another superb Indian on the Island.

Used for the first time as a take away. Delivered quickly within the hour. I had the lamb tikka masala with white rice, a paratha bread and poppadoms. All was well cooked and tasty!

Visited yesterday evening, the dinning room was empty and we sat for a meal. Three mains, 3 sides, 2 rice, 1 naan and 3 soft drinks over £60.00, no wonder it was empty. Food was excellent but dont like being ripped off, will be returning to the Jasmine, 7 Regent Street, Shanklin

Not knowing the area, we fell upon this Indian whilst looking for an evening meal. So glad we did as it was lovely. Four of us had various meals which were all large, fresh and tasty. Friendly service with a smile.

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered to Bembridge. It arrived in good time, hot and fresh. Food was really nice and big portions. We enjoyed this very much and will be ordering from here again. Order taker was great and delivery driver very friendly.

Staff were friendly, everyone enjoyed their food, nice atmosphere. Tables could be a bit bigger as it is very squashed when you have four to a table plus all the food and plates that come out.

Even though we didn't have a booking they managed to fit the pair of us in even though it was busy. I had the tasty Garlic chicken whilst my partner who doesn't like spicey food had a mushroom omelette and chips. Large portions, but a little more expensive than what I would normally pay. Friendly staff. Would go back again.

I use this tandoori regularly for home deliveries. The food is of excellent quality and reasonably priced. It is, perhaps, the best tandoori on the island. Recommended.

Best Indian I've been to for a while, great quality food with beautiful flavours! Would definitely recommend this Indian to others in the area
