I'm a regular at Real Patisserie but I won't be going anymore. I used to regularly buy baguettes as they were the closest to what you can buy in France I've found, but stopped buying them a while ago after at least 5 orders over several months were so hard and stale that they were inedible. Unfortunately the baguettes used in the sandwiches are now just as bad, bought 3 these last two months and they were as dry as toast all the way through.

My first purchase a slice of quiche lorraine - Amazing light textue with crispy bacon topping, slightly salty but I didn't mind that. Returned a week later Quiche not the same thing the filling had settled and been kept in the fridge so it was anything but light and airy. It's a difficult one! quiche needs to be eaten asap it doesnt store very well Today I brought a small apple tarte - looked incredible glazed and apples mandolined to perfection - unfortunately apples overcooked fot my taste.

Regardless of the queue size you can wait an age to get served. Here's a tip Real Pat; if you're not set up to make coffee quickly don't offer it for sale. Also, don't give people ordering over the phone while sitting in their car outside priority over those standing in the rain. Once you do get in there's a good chance there will be very little left to order anyway, wish there was another option

Great food but shop assistant serving this morning had moved his mask down so it didn’t cover his mouth and nose, he was moving and touching food without gloves while also touching his face and then the card machine before touching food again. Claimed they use sanitiser spray on hands but this is a lame excuse and certainly didn’t in the time I was observing him. I had to request he wash his hands before serving me, which he did but I don’t believe he took my comments seriously. This is also not the first time I’ve noticed that staff serving behind the counter observe poor hygiene practices which I’ve pointed out to them but today was the worst. Come on Patisserie - your customers deserve better and your reputation deserves better. Just some simple training would resolve this.

24th of December 12:40pm...the entire shelves are empty. When asking the staff if they will prepare more bread, the response from the employee is "no we sold out". What a poor service! Being french I can tell you that you will never see that happening in France. Bread will always be available or being prepared to satisfy the customer until the bakery closes, especially the 24th of December. Real Patisserie being owned by french people, this should be the standard of service...unless the focus is not on the customer.

You really must visit this pastry shop...first seeing all of the creations in the glass case is so tantalizing, then you realize even some of them are gluten-free, or vegan. I tried a variety of items and can say these guys have it together! Besides the breads, coffees, cakes, and pastries, they offer prepared salads and sandwiches. The staff is super pleasant and patient with questions about ingredients.

Over the last 12 months I have been regularly buying bread and croissant from Real Patisserie in Western Road. I've noticed the standard of bread and croissant is not consistent. Sometimes the bread is dry and the croissants hard and and also dry. I usually visit in the mornings before 9.00 am, and on good day the bread is soft and the croissant taste and look fresh. However most weeks there is a bad day, and the bread and croissant taste and feel as if they are not baked fresh that morning. Today the croissant bought at 08.30 am was stale and not pleasant to taste, and I have decided in future to shop elsewhere.

This is by far the best patisserie in Brighton! I'm a very fussy coffee drinker too and even though this isn't in the centre of town I walk the extra mile to get there and have an americano as the coffee here is so delicious! They have a variety of homemade pastries and cakes all of which are delectable! Other bread shops and cafe bars have tried to compete but I've done the rounds and although they may look stylish from the outside their food and coffee doesnt taste half as good and they don't have the charm that this one has!

It was nice to sit down all the same. We had a chorizo toastie, which was very tasty, a slice of Victoria Sponge and a Brownie. The sponge was good, the brownie was EXQUISITE! So gooey and melt in your mouth - it makes my mouth water thinking back to it now. I don't live in the area which is a shame as I would love to make these brownies part of my regular diet!

I usually avoid the bread and savoury things at RP as it is their tarts and patisserie that are their real strength and but I tried a piece of quiche and was so disappointed. They were selling day old quiche next to same day's and the former looked dry and was starting to curl at the edges so I chose the 'fresh' one. However, the texture was sloppy (under cooked/split?) and whilst I could not taste the vegetables in it, there was a distinct whiff of rotten eggs. Needless to say, I will skip these in the future - but not the sweet pastry!
