we booked bottomless brunch here for 9 people on a saturday afternoon having heard great reviews from people and we were so excited! unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. when we arrived they had not prepared for the fact we were doing bottomless brunch and it took circa 25 mins for our first drinks to arrive (and when they did, we were still without glasses)! we were told we could order more drinks once the jugs of alcohol had been emptied, but once we did that, our waitress sarcastically told us that we needed to have majority of our drinks emptied on our table to order any more drinks (for 9 people this is a ridiculous requirement). our waitress was unfriendly and did not offer any more drinks at any point and seemed bothered every time we put an order in. luckily later on we swapped waitresses to someone who was much friendlier! when the food arrived it was stone cold for 6 members of the party. when we informed the waitress, she was not apologetic at all and seemed agitated to have to sort our food out. in the end, it was so much faff that we requested some fresh chips were delivered to the table to avoid 6/9 people having to have their food warmed up again. the fresh chips were piping hot so that helped to partially rectify the cold meal! overall, i would not recommend this as a bottomless brunch location for large groups and needless to say we requested the service charge was removed from the bill.

Went here on the 1st of September for brunch as they have a garden area out back that was great for dogs. The garden area was a little dirty but overall was fine. The cushions provided smelt a little mouldy so I moved it. I would recommend a big clean up outside and new or washed cushions and throws. For context, we came here for dinner a year ago and we found the food to be ok but service slow. But wanted to try it again as it was a nice day and perfect for brunch. We were sat down just before a large group of hens of 40 strong but this was fine and they took our orders. We ordered two iced coffees and the Berlin eggs and avocado on toast with two poached eggs. We then awaited half an hour for anything to arrive and I could see the larger table that sat down after us already had their first round of drinks. We didn’t have any explanation for the wait, despite me putting the dots together. Our food arrived before our drinks which we then asked for our drinks again and received them shortly after. We also asked for water which didn’t arrive The ice in my iced coffee had melted making it watery and warm so it must of sat there for some time. The poached eggs were cold on my avocado toast plate and on the Berlin eggs, one of the eggs were still partly raw. I’m baffled by how they managed to make both Cooked cold eggs, and raw eggs all at the same time. We awaited a further 15 mins to get our bill and was told to pay at front to ‘save time’ as their QR codes are not working on the tables. Still no apology yet. I decided to feed this back to the lady at the front counter. She was in her mid twenties and with mid length blonde hair. Let’s call her Becky for this review. Becky was lovely until we said we wanted to feedback and her mood quickly Changed and was very defensive saying how the table of 40 mucked up their service. Which is said was fine but she shouldn’t have agreed to take such a large table at an already very full brunch service if it was going to muck up their whole system. Or at least let us know there would be a delay as we most likely wouldn’t stay for food if they couldn’t cope. It’s clear the front of house and kitchen weren’t communicating as there was a lot of food waiting and everyone focusing on the large table. Becky quickly was sour and said she can try and feed it back but it was the large tables fault plus, it’s not her issue the drinks arrived after the food and still- no apology for any of this. Or any real Explanation for the about the poor food quality. Would not recommend going there unless you want to come away feeling out of pocket and stressed. I would really recommend some service training for the front of house staff.

Extremely friendly service and delicious food

For the price I’d expect better tasting food and better service. I had the avocado on toast, it was brown with half a forest loaded on top to try and cover it up. Was in a group of 3 with about 4 other tables seated. The staff were just hanging out talking about their weekend (I wouldn’t normally care but I had to gain their attention every time and was made to feel I was being inconvenient by ordering food)

Just go if you're on a hen weekend. A bottomless prosecco offer lead to some tipsy ladies and a who could speak the loudest contest. Service quite slow. Go elsewhere if you want to have a civilised conversation with your colleagues

We discovered Red Roasters during a hen party in Brighton, and we ended up having breakfast there three days in a row! It’s safe to say we were hooked. The food was incredible, with a great variety of options to suit everyone’s taste. But what really made our experience special was the fantastic service. Arlo, in particular, was super helpful and incredibly accommodating, making sure our group was well taken care of each time. The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, perfect for starting the day right. If you're in Brighton, I highly recommend stopping by Red Roasters – whether it’s for one morning or, like us, three in a row! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town. Our first time here - but walked past many times. Just amazing. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had. Can’t recommend enough.

This is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in my life, and I’ve eaten all over the world ! The three of us all had crab, avocado and eggs Benedict. Delicious and so well presented ( I even took a photo before I ate it !

We went here on our last day in Brighton and wished that we came sooner! We ordered coffee (delicious), juice (so fresh), cheesy parmesan hashbrowns (loaded with cheese) and the Crab Eggs Benedict (outstanding). Everything tasted fresh and made with care. The staff were so lovely and the service was prompt. Thank you Redroaster St James St team!

I had breakfast before going back to London and this place, existing since 2000, apart from serving the best coffee in Brighton, also serves a very good breakfast. I had the crab cake, and it was delicious! I also had the salt caramel pancakes, as a dessert, and this was also extremely good. I also had freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious as well. The staff is really nice, smiley and friendly, and the place is beautiful. Highly recommended!

My first time at Redroaster I had Eggs Benedict for breakfast and they were D E L I C I O U S. They were served on a potato slices bed, a bit caramelised, a wonderful combination of flavours there. All the food looked really good, my friend had Shakshouka with poached eggs and it was very tasty as well. We had cappuccinos for drinks which I can say it was one of the best I had. The place looks nice and comfy, they have outdoor terrace where smoking is allowed, the service was good as well. I really recommend this place! We’ll definitely return when we’ll be again in Brighton.

A very lovely cafe / restaurant with awesome great atmosphere and lovely staff; one criticism is that as it’s so busy the staff don’t have much time for table service, stand up to go to the counter and risk losing your seat if you’re alone. Food was nice, but I’d probably go elsewhere for a traditional full-English. Price wise, this place is a little over average, but is justified by the quality and location.

We enjoyed the interesting menu with plenty of options for all diets and taste. The service was attentive and friendly. One of our group uses a wheelchair and we found the access very good and the accessible toilet was very well equipped.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best breakfast I've ever had. I rarely go for a cooked breakfast as there's usually too much on a full English I wouldn't eat but the menu is varied, but not fussy and the food was of excellent quality, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Can't recommend enough. The staff were also fantastic. Beautiful venue, and a great, chilled atmosphere. Only slight thing was that the door was fully open so it was a bit cold. But in fairness to them it's meant alot colder, and wetter in July than it should be.

Just ate here for lunch, the chicken bahn mi wrap was out of this world good. Highly recommend. Also cute garden area out the back

Perfect atmosphere. Staff are respectful and strategic. The workflow is brilliant. Interior design is topnotch and there are lots of options when it comes to seating. Comfy indoor chair; provides outdoor blankets as needed. Wheelchair accessible toilets. There are sockets for phone/laptop/powerbank charging; supports sustainability; in house choice of coffee; creative and delicious food menu. Hanging plants and overall therapeutic environment. Makes you want to live here.

Lovely decor and the staff were friendly. The food was delicious too. The only issue - which we were forewarned about because of the other reviews - was the extremely slow service. About 35 minutes to get our coffees after ordering. Food nearly an hour. We lost too much time out of our day being there.

I had a chicken wrap but it was not very nice.Staff were all quite amused and laughed like a bunch of little girls. I couldn't help wondering if they'd smoked a bit of the magic tobacco. Not a very pleasant experience.

I was so hopeful about this place. The brunch menu, and the northern Thai dishes, betel miang is a big favorite treat of mine that's hard to find.... this looked like such a gem. Greeted warmly by the front of house staff, grabbed a seat in the garden, and then it started to fall off pretty quickly. Our male server took our order, 2 people, 2 beverages, 2 meals, 1 side. Not a whole lot to remember, but somehow my wife's beverage and my side were completely forgotten, but we weren't checked on in order to mention this. In fact, he seemed to ignore us intentionally. When he came to clear our plates, I did bring up what was missing, and he took it off the bill. Although, once I mentioned this, he was so short with us, as if we'd offended him by simply mentioning forgotten items. Word to the server, and the house manager, from a fellow restaurantuer, I would have much preferred an attentive service than to have items comped. Had one of my servers behaved like this to a queer female couple in a predominantly queer town, I would surely want to know. Had the service been even mediocre instead of offensive, we would have surely returned for multiple meals during our stay in Brighton.

Fantastic place for brunch - a wonderful range of dishes slightly more sophisticated than your typical brunch fare. Would like to give a special shout out to our server Abby who was an absolute star during our recent bottomless brunch! Wonderfully friendly, attentive and made sure our glasses didn’t go empty… she made our experience especially wonderful!

I loved the taste of my meal and also the design of my meal. It is an awesome place. Definitely recommend it.

I came here for my Birthday with friends and we opted in for the bottomless brunch, we feel completely ripped off.. the drinks are pre mixed with your choice of mixer which is very sugary and very watered down, you cannot taste the prosecco and the drink isn’t even fizzy because of how much of the mixer you put in! Would not recommend to anyone, have been to your other venue which felt like a better experience but this was years ago, very disappointed.

An absolutely stunning place to eat, full roaster and cappuccino is recommended. Staff really pleasant, recommend 100 per cent.

Quickly seated and ordered some drinks, was ignored by the staff for 20minutes by which time are drinks still hadn't come so left. Seemed like plenty of staff and they were giving other tables tap water but they couldn't get one can of coke and bottle of beer to us within 20 minutes of ordering and it wasn't busy.

a unique independent Brighton venue. The food is top notch, prepared in an open kitchen along with possibly the best coffee in town (and there’s a lot of competition). Great variety of delicious cakes. The staff are also friendly and professional.

Absolutely delicious food, great menu. Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit and will be back. Recommend taking out the popcorn from chocolate pudding and replacing with pistachio and ginger. Couldn't eat it. But loved my visit, the atmramd staff were fantastic!

Had a wonderful time. Excellent venue for a bunch of weary teachers to enjoy great food, superb cocktails, wine and beer! I have a nut allergy and the chef went out of his way to look after me, despite being extremely busy. Would highly recommend. Thanks guys x

We tried this restaurant because we were attending a performance at the adjacent music venue. While the decor was OK the service was very slow, the steak I had was far too salty and the chicken schnitzel that my wife had was not tasty. Very disappointng !

This is my son’s favourite place to take people visiting from home in Cornwall. We both opted for the Crab Benedict as this is his favourite. It came with avocado as standard but as I don’t like it, they offered mushrooms. Oh wow! The dish was not only delicious, but so beautifully presented; adorned with flowers, radish & micro greens. We had a side dish of Parmesan hash browns & fabulous coffee. Friendly staff, great service, fabulous breakfast!

I went yesterday for a meal, 3 of us. I ordered the Hake Rosti and not sauce with it. The plate turned out to be a brick of overcooked potatoes rosti, one lovely cooked poached egg and The smallest piece of fish I have seen in my whole life. Less than a half fish finger. £16.9 for potatoes and an egg basically. The plate should be renamed. My partner had a gluten free burger - as no gf bun was available she had 2 pieces of slider bread, quite small beef burger, bacon and gherkins in a plate. No even a couple of salad leaves to make the plate more appetising…. My friend had salmon avocado & poached eggs and it looked and was delicious. Disappointed to be honest. Around £118 bill with drinks and we have to buy more food when we left the restaurant. Now a days is a bit poor to be honest. Shame I forgotten to take pictures…. We were too hungry for that ;) Tables around us ordered breakfast and chicken snizzel and looked good and good portion. Just unlucky I guess….

I highly recommend the Redroaster: it's cosy, food is amazing, and the people working there are all friendly and helpful. I had Hake Roasti, and it was very tasty and beautifully presented. Filling too. Great experience altogether.

Servers out lovely and very attentive. It's pretty chill in here. The food is amazing. I had the Full Roaster brunch, the potato rosti was the nicest thing I've eaten in a while. I usually add a bit of salt to my food but I didn't need to, it wasn't salty, it was just so flavourful I absolutely didn't need to. Seriously good stuff. No photos because I was too busy eating it! Coffee is good too!

Amazing experience, atmosphere, and especially incredible food!!! We went there on the first day we were in Brighton and then returned again the next day since we couldn’t stop thinking about it! Drew and Bren were the most fantastic servers as well. Their graciousness, service, and knowledge were unparalleled! Literally everything on the menu is delicious, but I highly recommend the shakshuka, the fig and burrata bruschetta, and the chicken schnitzel. And if you are looking to have a drink, the Cinnamon Toast White Russian is stellar. Run to Red Roaster, you will not regret it!

What a lovely brunch spot on St James St. Bella was our server and gave the recommendation for the Iced Turbo (coffee with Chocolate milk) and the Eggs Benedict. Hands down the best breakfast I’ve ever had. The pulled pork was sweet and salty and was amazing. Instead of an English muffin, it gets served on top of fondant potatoes and it was sensational! Bella looked after us the whole way through our meal and made the experience so charming. Thank you!!

When I can I meet friends for brunch here so have not been in the evening. The staff are always lovely, helpful and efficient. Menu is delicious and food hot (Unheard-of in most restaurants). Perfect coffee and very spacious and clean toilets!

We came for lunch and had the nicest time. Our waitress Abbie was very attentive and friendly and the food came out quickly and tasted delicious. Highly recommend, especially the Bloody Marys

Nice decor, but expensive, even for Brighton (£7.80 for a lukewarm bottle of Tsingha beer, that's just robbery). Service was good, but one particular member of staff that stood out was this very attentive, sweet, helpful and consumate professional Turkish girl. She would be an asset to any business. Very upbeat, smiling and helpful. Worth paying the service charge for her alone. Overall, would possibly recommend to others, but wouldn't be my first choice in the area.

Very nice place, you'd never know it was there! Lovely and bright, but also clean and has a nice calm atmosphere. I only came in here to kill time before an interview, but ended up having 3 cups of tea for £2.40! Will absolutely be coming back and bringing my partner.

Redroaster Cafe on St. James's Street is a great spot for dates, families, friends etc. The cafe is in a beautiful building, and the interior is minimal and refreshing. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. We have been to Lucky Khao, the evening restaurant in the same restaurant, plenty of times. We’re regulars there now. We finally visited Redroaster. We ordered the fig & burrata bruschetta, chilli crab linguine, steak frites, and eggs benedict. The fig & burrata bruschetta was a great starter, with the fresh figs and burrata perfectly complemented by the hot honey and vinaigrette. The chilli crab linguine was our favorite dish of the day. The crab was fresh and plentiful, and the sauce was well-seasoned with a nice kick of heat, but could’ve been spicier. The linguine was cooked al dente and perfectly coated in the sauce. The steak frites was also very good, with the steak cooked to perfection and the frites crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The eggs benedict was a modern take on a classic dish that was well-executed, with the hollandaise sauce being especially creamy and delicious. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The potato rosti was a nice addition, and it added a bit of texture to the dish. The artichoke chips were a nice touch, and they added a bit of crunch. Very different from any eggs Benedict I’ve had before. Overall, we had a great experience at Redroaster Cafe. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. We would definitely recommend Redroaster to anyone looking for a great meal in Brighton. I’ve never once been disappointed.

We had a great celebration for my husbands birthday group of 15. We had a variety of delicious brunch dishes, they were able to cater for gluten free and nut allergy no problem. Love the way they do the delicious potato rosti! Amazing service and attention to detail. Thank you to all, We will be back!!
