Walking through Kemptown we stumbled across this place. Is very small but has a much needed and appreciated outside area. The barman was lovely & sitting there watching the world walk by in the sun enjoying cold alcoholic beverages was gorgeous.

This is a quaint little pub. The staff and clientele are friendly. It has a small garden although they had the door shut so I couldn’t hear the live music. The downside of being a smoker, I guess.

The Ranelagh is a pub in High Street Brighton. It is pleasant enough. I occasionally use it because, when I visit the UK, my wife and I stay with my sister-in-law who lives in High Street. When I have a beer, I usually smoke a small cigar and so the little garden of the pub proves useful. They play jazz there but I am not a particular fan of that genre so I havn't visited when the jazz sessions have been in progress.

My friends and I went to this pub on spec after a bike ride. Overall this place is understated and very chilledLocation: Being in Kemp Town this place is near to other bars and food places so very handyAtmosphere: On entering this pub the atmosphere felt a little flat however after 20-30 mins it became like a comfy pair of old slippers. The bob dylan music (prior to live music at 9pm), the pub dog wandering about and an open fire help a great deal. Staff / Services: All staff very friendly and helpful however the toilets are basic and the seating area limited.

1st time at the Ranelagh, very welcoming. A little small but just added to the quirkiness. Went to the Sunday Sessions which I believe are once a month.Definitely going again (as long as no work the next day) due to copious amounts of cider

If really good ales and (mostly) blues music is your cup of tea then visit this great little pub. Although it's a little on the small side for the amount of people within on any music night this only adds to the atmosphere. If you like your pubs with a "real" real about them then this is the place for you. Fast and friendly service at the bar and a great crowd even on a Sunday evening.Cheers!.

I loved this place which is basically a drinking persons pub and not usually my thing but push that aside and what is left is a pub with an amazing atmosphere. You will find live music every day bar Monday evening. Mostly blues. I love it and wish this pub was near to my home town.

I am fed up of having my enjoyment at the Ranelagh pub ruined by the drunks allowed to continue drinking when they are being a nuisance and even verbally abusing and physically threatening the musician trying to perform. I now dont look forward to visiting the pub as I never know what unpleasant and out of control person is going to be there. This has been going on for many months, even when Barry owned it. The landlord should refuse to serve drunk people and remove those who are harassing other customers and musicians

Located down a side street off the 'main' road in Kempton. The sound of a blues band ensured that it was worth looking in at (there had been quite a few pubs in the area that we gave a miss). Great atmosphere & the staff very friendly. The band 'The Blind Lemons' a local group were great, just wished we had found it earlier in the evening instead of the 'trendy' pubs in the centre of Brighton, and seen more of the act .

Popped in for a late morning coffee and bite to eat. Good selection of wholesome cakes and sandwiches available. Went for the cheese, chicken and chorizo toasted sandwich and it was divine! Service was super friendly. But allow yourself time enjoy the experience, because it was busy and not fast. We will definitely return :-)

Went into Small Batch, Hove Station at 4.20 pm yesterday. I ordered a coffee as a dine-in customer. Was told that I would have to use a take away cup as they would be closing soon. I left but not before telling the cashier that I would have drunk my coffee within 10 minutes. Small Batch website indicates that they close at 5.00 pm. BTW there were no other customers. Anyway, I went down the road and gave another coffee shop my business.

Unfortunately, even though there were many things right I'll be avoiding this place. The service was impeccable, good beer, perfect lighting and lovely music. So what was wrong? A coven of aggressive women believing they ran the place because they'd booked a table. At their request the music, that I'd been enjoying, was turned off so they could conduct their meeting whilst sipping peppermint tea. I'd suggest a pub isn't an ideal place for this sort of thing. Especially if you're hell-bent on spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else. Sadly, they're regulars.

The bar was very quiet on a Saturday evening and football was showing. The drinks were pretty basic but reasonably priced. It’s a shame as it’s a nice bar but I won’t return.
