ok if you want quiet and like watching golf on tv.entertainment only on a friday.£4.40 for pint of lager which is about the same as everywhere else in the area.no food served here which is a shame as plenty of room and tables but not overly so, but only the standard crisps, nuts.spacious pub with pool table but younger ones tend to be using it.average pub nothing too bad but then again, nothing too great about it.

We went in Saturday afternoon for a few pints. There were kids screaming on a mike having a party coming out all mics around the pub. This includes them swearing. We asked the barman and he said he can't control the speakers. Another couple left, we had to finish our pints and won't be back. Before we left the kids were running around the actual bar area. The language and noise through the speakers was awful. This place needs shutting down

We visited last night to find the legend that is Danny Wilde in full swing on the stage. The crowd was going crazy with the Danny Wilde chants and the atmosphere was fantastic. I can kind of get it with some of the dodgy reviews saying that it might not be a palace, but the pub serves drinks at affordable prices with friendly bar staff, the crowd made us feel welcome and Danny Wilde created great memories that we talk about for years. Keep up the good work and hopefully, we will return for more of the same. "I said seadside Danny Wilde...."

So it’s a pub in a tourist seaside town- 1pm on a Friday and not knowing the area I pop in to use the loo. It’s not even bang in the town centre and has masses of footfall. The place is dead and on the way I’m asked if I’m having a drink because it’s patrons only. Then I’m told that’s because they’ve had people be sick in the toilet. I’d of thought that might come with the territory. I honestly was shocked - it’s huge, a handful of people in it at the most. Let’s say I exited and won’t be there for a drink or anything else any time. What a disgrace!!!

Wow!! What a fantastic Saturday night my friends and I have just had. This was my second visit to the pub and i found it just as welcoming as the first. There was a cracking atmosphere inside as Seaside Danny Wild entertained the crowd; not a local legend for nothing!! The pub has plenty of room inside. Around the "stage area" was busy with the friendly vibe a good locals kind of pub needs to have. We spent the majority of our evening chatting and being heard was not a problem in the area of the pub that we were in. Gill the landlady, and her team of barmaids, could not have been friendlier. The same too needs to be said of the locals, very friendly and inclusive. It strikes me as the kind of place where an individual could comfortably go on their own and be included in the conversation. There was no real ale but the keg beer on-tap we had was, as seems to be the norm, perfectly served. Prices were reasonable and didn't raise any eyebrows. The Ramshill is what it is I guess, but as an example of such I'm glad to see this pub doing well. True, it did have a negative reputation in the past however, I saw no evidence to warrant this. To me, it stands out as something that we are losing in our towns. Gill and her team are clearly working hard to make the Ramshill popular again and we should support this. As stated, a fantastic night. My friends and i will definitly be back.

It's been 30-plus years since I last visited this pub and not much seems to have changed- thank goodness. Even the weekend entertainment courtesy of Scarborough "legend" Danny Wilde is the same. As the beer mats say - "long live the local pub" and as this decidedly local pub isn't broken there doesn't seem much point in fixing anything. It's the kind of pub where you can still refer to the barperson as a barmaid (when she's a woman!) and where the barmaid can still call customers "darling" (whether they are male or female) without the pc squad calling her to task. What it lacks in real ale it gains in real atmosphere and real characters. The décor looks "lived in" and so do most of the regular clientele but it's good to find a pub these days which is genuinely retro and not the product of some designer whizz kid barely old enough to sample the product on sale!

very quick pint and whisky, but pub was very quiet as time of day duff. Sure this place would be fine for 'locals' in the evening but visitors may find it a 'bit of a dive' at times. As a 'man of the world' I find this type of 'boozer' fine.

I was working away and unfortunately I lost my wallet. The land lady found my wallet searched me on Facebook and arranged for me to collect. Very honest and I am very grateful. I can not thank gill waterworth enough. The staff are great very friendly and welcoming with a great atmosphere and cheap booze. If your visiting Scarborough I recommend that you call in for a pint you will not be disappointed Thank you very much

We go every other week more or less and always leave feeling thoroughly entertained Danny is a Scarborough legend and never fails to deliver. The pub has just been painted outside and looks great, excellent friendly landlady and staff. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Back in the day, this was a great pub and hotel. But it has since gained a sinister reputation. I decided to visit to see where this reputation arose from. During afternoon hours, this is an alright pub. A pool table, free wifi, plenty of space, and it's quiet enough. There's a bus stop down the road, and it's next door to Sainsbury's and has a cash machine outside. However, during the night, I begin to see why people refer to it as "The Pond". There's always at least 5 people at the (very small) doorway, so you have to battle your way through them all just to enter the premises. It's packed full of drunks, and at some points the cigarette smoke is so thick you can hardly see the person next to you. As for the entertainment, it's either a random playlist blasting out of the jukebox, or a guy who dressed up like Elvis. Never met him, but his singing is sub-par. Due to all the drunken patrons at the bar, it takes about 15 minutes just to get served. Aside from the people inside, the building interior appears to be in need of general repairs. There are multiple holes in the walls in various places, most notably near the pool table. Almost all the chair cushions have some form of damage on them, ranging from beer stains to fabric tears. The tables are very sticky, and are covered in circular stains. Ironically, the toilets are the cleanest part of the pub, although there is graffiti on the side of the condom dispenser. Overall, I would go again, but it would be a better experience for everyone if the place got sorted out a bit.

If you like being surrounded by women who spray on too much perfume to cover the stink of cigarette smoke, this is the place for you. If you like to be pestered by incoherent drunks and have to fight your way past a doorway packed with smokers, you'll love it. The 'singer' - a substandard Elvis impersonator - is probably a very nice man but he's an embarassingly bad vocalist. The whole place is dirty.

This once well run and popular Hotel, has now degenerated into a tardy, rundown, pub know by the title of "The Pond" in reference to the type of clientele it attracts. My friends father was landlord of "Ramshill" many moons ago,how sad he would be to see what a dive it's turned into. why doesn't the Brewery sort it out.Guess it's all about making a quick buck.

What a welcoming, friendly and fun night out. Duke box has choice, the locals are friendly, the bar staff provide excellent customer service. The karaoke on a Friday night is well worth a visit and there are some brilliant local singers who can belt some tunes out. Highly recommend Jill's pub. It's a credit to the Landlady.

When in Scarborough, I always find time to visit this place. Overall it's nothing out of the ordinary, other than decent, genuine pub, full of locals, about 10 mins out of town, over the bridge. Number 7 bus will virtually drop you outside. The drink is the usual beer, cider & lager found anywhere else, all at reasonable prices. A sprawling pub in side, so no problem finding a seat either in the bar area or one of the more quieter areas. Plenty of tv's to watch sport, a decent jukebox that the locals keep going virtually none stop. Karaoke alternate weekends, (if that's your thing). If you're passing by Ramshill Rd, on the Southbay side of the town, pop in & give it a try.

I have never seen such blatant racism in my life. This is 2024. People of colour and like minded people walking into this Jim Crow, antiquated backwards establish please be aware. To put a note not to offend is outrageous. We should be all tolerate of each others differences. Obviously a person who's not well versed and travelled. How can society move on when we have people who think that it's reasonable to offend people who are just enjoying their vacation. White privileges allows one to laugh, turn a blind eye or to offer a rationale for their inherent racism. Being White I can only apologise and say that the majority of educated White people just want to live in peace and unity. Should be ashamed. Schools visits! How do teachers explain gollywogs in todays society as being acceptable.
