Ramsgate Cafe in Thanet

Recommended to us as a good breakfast spot , so thought we had better try it. The premises was clean and tidy and we had a friendly reception . The menu contained the usual British breakfast items . We made our choices and what we ordered arrived shortly afterwards, well cooked and presented just we had ordered. Prices were reasonable too

Worst pie and mash takeaway ever. Burnt to a crisp. Had to throw in the bin. Won't be getting food from here again. Picture attached.

Went there on Thursday 2nd February 2023 with my wife for Pie and mash. We were really impressed. Massive portions and loads of liquor. My wife, who is from Bermondsey is an expert on Manzies pie and mash. She reckons this is just as good. Prices very reasonable.

Just bought a takeaway pie and mash for 2 people. Really friendly staff and food was delicious, just like being back home in London . Highly recommended 👍

I used to absolutely love this cafe and have been a regular for years however after my experience today I won’t return. One: there is no procedures around Covid. Lots of people brushing up close next to each other. Lots of people coughing and spluttering. Not much of a gap in between the tables Two: no details taken for track and trace. Three: the young waitress in there was so miserable and rude. No manners. Fourth: I ordered poached eggs on toast with bacon and tinned tomatoes, I literally had a plate of water. It was disgusting and didn’t really eat any of it. The food also tasted like really cheap ingredients.

Excellent food,plenty of variety on the menu and friendly staff. All in all a great place to eat. Will definitely visit again!

Great cafe for fry up , but if you are a Cockney and missing proper pie mash & liqueur they do the best I’ve had outside London

Even though the prices are cheap, the food was ok quality, but not great. Some of the food portions were quite small. If I return in the future I possibly try there pie and mash.

My jacket potato was cold , filling looked like something the cat chucked up , swimming in butter , tea served in dirty cup , when I complained I don’t eat butter, the guy I gather the owner lied and said every cafe around here serve jackets with butter , I said that’s not true , as I lunch in Westwood cross , and have never been given butter , due to allergies , he still insisted that was true , offered me no alternative , or my money back , he is rude and ignorant stay away from this cafe would be my advice , disgusting food , dishonest staff .

It's clean and friendly The prices are really good But the bacon today was really salty The rest of the food was great

Have been here many times. This is one of the best places to eat breakfast or brunch. The service is good and the staff friendly. You will be spoilt for choice of breakfast - all are excellent.

Popped in to try the pie and mash. We have this regularly in London and we’re delighted somewhere local was serving it Really disappointed with both the pie and the mash won’t bother again

They manage to do Pie and Mash nearly as well as Woolwich and London so if yo can not get to the real thing then this is an excellent substitute with top service at really cheap prices. Recommend as somewhere to try.

manage to produce really good pie and mash ( probably under licence from one of the London ones?) every time with crispy edge to pies and proper mash all of which is combined with good service at very reasonable prices will keep going

Go for pie and mash at least once a month and never let down with speed of service or value. If you like pie and mash this is as close as you can get to the real thing and looking around the other tables the "fry ups" look good too

Still really good food and nice service even when really busy. We always pop in on a Saturday for pie and mash if shopping in the area and never dissapointed

Breakfast at the ramsgate cafe on Sunday morning was just right. Bacon baguettes and a mug of tea at eight o clock was lovely. We walked there as parking could be awkward and walked away happy

Best pie'n'mash outside East London I have tasted. The food was delicious, hot and tasted great. Great value.

Not the place for fine dining but the pie & mash is excellent and the fry ups look really good with large portions and all freshly cooked Great Value

Went in today about 11.40 am nice staff ALL very polite.. it had to be pie & mash wont need to do 100 miles round trip anymore just a short run to this very good cafe give this one a try be back very SOON !

Go regularly when shopping at Westwood Cross for pie and mash which is very good and the service first class - now have my order in by the time we reach the counter to pay !!

Friendly enough wlecome, reasonable service but large portions at great prices. They don't use cut loaf braed which is a welcome touch. Typically quite bust but still fast to get served, a wholly pleasant place to eat.

started working in Thanet and had to find a "Pie & Mash" shop. came across this place and must say pleasantly surprised. good pie, good mash, good liquor, can't ask for more for £4.50 for a single

Visitamos allí hoy con nuestra familia, incluyendo nuestros 2 perros, así que naturalmente sentamos. En el verdadero estilo británico de la llover mientras comíamos. Nos recibieron los perros y todo el interior,. Recomiendo encarecidamente el café. . El helado también es deliciosa.

Tried all the pie n mash shops can find in Thanet and this one is definitely the best we have managed to find and closest to proper east end dish.

Go regularly now for my dose of pie and mash as is definitely the best for miles around. I know it's not a great skill cooking pie and mash but often is over done and the beauty of the dish is the simplicityKeep up the good work

Visit loads with my old dad for pie n mash. It's one of our highlights in fact! The staff are always really good to us and take the time to have a proper chat with my dad making him feel welcome and at home.As Londoners, and devoted to our home town south London Manzies and Goddards, we'd like to think that we know our pie n mash. We both agree that this comes pretty damn close to the source. Superbly tasty and liquor that just makes the icing on the cake. They even do the chilli vinegar!Just want to thank them for the great food and looking after my mum and dad, and making them feel so welcome over the years.

have tried pie and mash all over this part of Kent and these are definitely the best even though it should not be a difficult thing to achieve !!!!looking around the café the fried food looked good as well with very good portions

We popped in for breakfast on New Year's Day as our usual was closed. The food was reasonably priced; came with thick toast that was buttered adequately and delicious bacon and eggs. The menu choices are vast. The venue do table service too - staff are pleasant and the atmosphere was great.

Had a burger brunch today really great portion with big tasty burgers.Service was quick staff attentive decided to spoil myself and go for the spotted dick for sweet enjoyed everything.

This is a traditional cafe that also does pie and mash. Having lived in London for most of my life I am a fan of pie and mash and especially liquor. We decided to try this place and we were disappointed with the liquor which seemed thicker than it should have been.

Been coming here for a few years. It is a well run cafe that presents clean. Had the pie and mash which is a specialty here. The service is quick. Food good. Parking outside or over the road. The only downside here is the noise of the coffee machine. Think airport jet and you get close. But they do a nice coffee.

Really nice pie and mash and a cup of tea at 70p makes this café a bargain - the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the staff can look very grumpy sometimes and sometimes a big smile and no idea why??

My Wife and I are used to "Arments Pies "as we come from South East London and the pies they serve here are not in the same league. They told me the pies come from somewhere in Lewisham. I wouldn't eat there again but that's only my opinion.

Disgusting. Had shep pie n veg the shep pie was very hot on outside but stone cold in middle so complained they took my food away 10 mind later came back with hot pie but cold veg. I gave up so asked for just the pie and then got told I have to pay extra. Will not recommend to others

Not been here for a while and have to say the food is just as good now than it was 2 years ago pie mash n liqueur is a must. It's clean and staff are polite and value for money. So for all you travelling ppl looking for a bit of London get yourself here

we now go once a week for our pie and mash and even took a visiting friend from Australia to sample and see if as remembered from Peckham.

Thank you guys for a lovely lunch the Liver and Bacon with chips was really lovely, but I couldn't eat it all! And Hubby enjoyed all his 1/2 Pounder Burger with Chips he even said "so where's the next one"! It's always great food and it's great value for your money!! Thank you guys and we will see you soon! Every this was of good quality and cooked fresh.Nice this bread for the toast, been a couple of times and the only thing that seems to have gone down hill a bit is the bacon, didn't seem as nice as previous visits, but still better than most.

Isn't it ironic that Ramsgate cafe is barely a 10 minute walk from McDonalds (Westwood Cross) where you will probably spend £10 for 2 cold, soggy,tasteless 'Mc Value' meals, and yet for not much more at the Ramsgate cafe you will enjoy a proper meal from a decent selection, all cooked to order. Everything is so nicely (and freshly) cooked, not greasy. Good sized portions, great value cafe food. We visit fairly often and my only slight quibble would be that the entrance door doesn't fully close and, in cold weather, can be draughty.

Went for monthly Pie and Mash with a cup of tea and was excellent. Since changed waiting staff the whole place is now 10/10 and probably the best pie n mash outside London ( I have tried Hastings, Orpington, Herne Bay......) and looking at the other tables the portions looked really good for fry ups etc.Recommended.

Well what a difference - the lady serving now looks as though she is not chewing a wasp and seems at last to be happier in her job which is great as the food and prices here are really good

The cafe in York street Ramsgate , lovely fry up no grease . Clean and freshly cooked . The sunrise fish and chip shop , agian on the corner of York street . The best fish and chip we have had . On Saturday we tried there Resterant in Queen street Ramsgate . We will be back lovely food agian . Well done ✅✅✅

Come here regularly, the staff are polite and friendly and the food is always cooked fresh. I am always satisfied with what I order. Very nice atmosphere and very clean. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are big Will always come back here for my bacon and egg baguette

What a shame I really like this café as the food is good and the prices exceptional (70p for a cup of tea!) but the older woman who serves on the till must be the grumpiest person I have ever come across in any retail environment - what is wrong with her !!!If you don't like the job then move as you are really spoiling an excellent café - if you do like the job then "turn that frown upside down !!!!!!!!!"

When ever we fancy an all day breakfast, we always head for the Ramsgate cafe and often take my 86 year old mum for pie and mash. Good portions, food always nice and hot, reasonably priced. The cafe is what it is - clean, relaxed, good service, good price. BEST poached eggs on toast I've ever had. Can also recommend the liver and bacon and omelettes. As for the 'rude' woman mentioned in a previous post - take no notice......she is a gem of a character and we love it!

tried again as fancied the pie and mash and the cafe in Herne Bay has really gone down hill.very nice pies and although the "liquor" was a bit darker than usual (extra parsley probably) still worked well although had to ask for the spicy vinegar as not left on tables and is lovely and hot.also the tea is 70p !!!!have yet to find anyone as good as Manzie's but this is an heroic attempt and will be going again.

Have been to loads of cafes round here and this one is by far the best. Never been disappointed by a breakfast and if you are hungry then the special one should fill you up which has a bit of everything in it. My only grumble is that they use cheap ketchup instead of heinz but other than that it is a great place to eat.

Have been here before as the food was good. Again the food was good! But it was let down by a rude woman who works there! I've never met such a miserable person in my life threw my tea down on the table and some of it spilled over didn't say nothing just walked off, when she brought my breakfast over because I didn't see her as I was talking she tired putting it underneath my arms that were on the table like barging them into my arm to put it down. Never once smiled or said thank you, I suggest you enter a new line of work you miserable miss trunchball lookalike

friendly staff, food good price and not greasy, clean.my only gripe is that it is so noisy with the chatter echoing around + the noise from the coffee machine made me want to get out as quick as possible
