Palm Bay Cafe in Thanet

No toilets,bad coffee! Used to be fantastic but now it's just a bad seaside kiosk! What happened? And why are there no toilets now? Bitterly disappointing

Main cafe is now shut, just a hatch to order from. No idea why they wouldn't reopen the cafe. Food was really bad. Chicken burger was pretty horrible, very cheap ingredients. Hate to leave a bad review really but it needs improving.

Staff are lovely, service and atmosphere were on point however you can't enter at all much less to use the toilet, the coffee tasted like kettle scale and the bacon roll was just a bacon roll really

Went to the cafe with my son, daughter and 3 granddaughters. After spending nearly £40 on food and drinks my daughter asked if they could fill my granddaughters water bottle up as she doesn't drink anything else, they said no you will have to buy a bottle! We were totally disgusted 😒

Only bought a coffee which was really nice, hot and a lovely coffee flavour.

Nice cafe right on the waterfront. Food, service, value all good whilst enjoying the sunshine overlooking the sea.

The staff are most friendly and helpful, i feel most welcome and i appreciate that especially being a brown elf in mid summer looking for directions to the North Pole, and 6 months late to the party 🎈

Palm Bay Café has to be and without doubt. The single most exciting experience of this year. Please Please go n visit. You will love it and the food, too.

If I'm paying top dollar for a coffee I do like it to be from beans / ground rather than from an instant packet Also interested to see them selling flapjacks that can be purchased in a local shop for over 600% mark up! I know theresxa rule in catering regarding mark up but that seems quite steep! As beach side pit stops go I'm highly unlikely to return

Palm Bay Cafe is a favourite spot for my son and I. Usually we have a walk along the seafront and stop for a coffee and a snack at the Cafe. Today the wind was a little too bracing for a walk, so we just enjoyed a coffee and a bacon and egg butter while admiring the view. Delicious 👍

Things are different here now. Only open for takeaway with limited menu. Recent price increases and no seating inside despite lifting of lockdown. The portaloos are not their at the moment.

Sadly this is no longer a cafe but just a kiosk service maybe due to difficult times . Though it doesn't help when you order a latte and get a cup of grog with coffee mate in it . Stretching it a bit i think ! Still its a nice place to go if the weathers right with outside seating .

What a beautiful place to sit and watch the world go by. Went for a coffee today and a walk and just sat in the sun and caught up with an old friend. They used to do eat in and out options but since covid took hold this changed. Not sure when it'll be back but when it does I'll be back for breakfast. Highly recommend xx

Visited today, no food on offer…just plenty of bad attitude, left hungry and dissatisfied! I’m local and had visited this cafe since childhood and had until now always had a great welcome and service. This representation of local businesses to the visiting crowds is disappointing to see, if you can’t provide a service then just don’t open. I will trek to Broadstairs from now on.

We went for a cuppa and a snack this morning. When we got there we saw the building was covered in wire grills and there was a serving hatch with a glass partition; no doubt a relic from Covid Days. It was outdoor seating only which meant we were not allowed to use the toilets. The drinks and snacks were very good; the staff were very friendly. The building looks very jaded and unloved. It's a shame because in the past it was a very nice cafe with both indoor and outside seating plus toilets. They did not sell any chocolate bars or sweets; not even a Kit Kat!

Was a nice place to eat but now it's gone to a kiosk not so good..Cannot eat in any more so miss going for breakfast..

This cafe is closed still for inside eating but you can get a great sandwich and sit on the picnic tables outside and watch the world go by with sea views. We love it.

Lovely spot overlooking the sea. Ample picnic tables, and parking for a about 6 cars. Dog friendly, and friendly staff. Could do with some more seating that is suitable for older people to use.

Low quality food! Tea and coffee are awful but the ice cream is good! It’s a shame really because I use to look forward there for breakfast.

Nice cafe overlooking the cliff, didn't appear to be open inside and you oder at one hatch and collect on he other side with your ticket. Full range of snacks and egg and bacon baps tea and coffee etc. Loads of seating outside including some under cover too. Also dog friendly, and tbd beach there allows dogs all year round, cash or card and free parking nearby

Place is great. Just be aware it's a kiosk that sells food and not a restaurant or so.

Asked to use the toilet after purchasing a not very tasty coffee and was told that the nearest toilets were a 10 minute walk...(we found ones in under 5) Not very helpful and dismissive staff.

PROS The gentleman serving was lovely. The location is a great little spot which I can imagine is lovely to sit out on a nice day. Social distancing is observed and feels clean and safe. Unfortunatley if you enjoy coffee, this was like going back to a cafe in the 80s. It was weak and tasted like dishwater, overfilled so was dripping everywhere. If we had not of carried on walking to let it cool down we would of returned it, but ended up throwing it away. There is so much great coffee on or just off the viking trail and I love to support local businesses over chains on our regular dog walks so I would love to see the coffee improve so that we could carry on enjoying this little spot.

Cafe in a beautiful location. Coffee was undrinkable and was so watered down, like that from a rubbish vending machine. I left it untouched. Shame as the cafe used to be amazing a few years back.

A very friendly cafe situated atop a cliff, commanding a pleasant scenic view out to sea.. The ood was quite good with ample portions (they certainly did not skimp on the bacon in our bacon rolls!). It is situated above a dog friendly beach. All in all, we were very pleasantly impressed by this no-thrills small cafe and were even more pleasantly surprised by their prices. Thank you to the staff for their sterling service, we will be visiting again.

The coffee was undrinkable and the sausage bap was very poor. Maybe caught them on an off day?

Have visited here twice in the last week. Service has been good despite the Covid restrictions meaning we have to be served from inside through a window. Coffee is just as you would expect from a machine. Wet and warm but on top of a windy cliff, it does the trick. Had veggie burger and chips which were nice. Very reasonably priced and will go again.

Had a lovely egg bap and a nice cup of tea. We both enjoyed it 😁

Visit weekly as part of a 'breakfast club'. Great staff, great location regardless of the weather as the view over the sea is always changing. Freshly cooked, nice and hot, one of the best breakfast venues in Thanet in my opinion, however, I haven't said it's perfect, there is for me, one minor issue, but not so bad it loses a star in review. The issue? Cheap sausages. It's a common problem in cafes I find. And yet they don't buy cheap bacon... go figure. For me, buy a better quality sausage and all would be tip top but hey ho, maybe you can't have it all? That aside I'm sure we'll keep it as our cafe of choice on a Friday morning and who knows, maybe the owners will see this and take it onboard?

The cafe was great. My partner Andy and I sat outside and ate a meal. The food is fantastic too.
