Canterbury Bell in Thanet

Great food, great service, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Very reasonably priced. We always have a lovely time when we are down in Thanet at the Canterbury Bell.

Came in for a wedding lunch with the family and I was blown away with the level of service and the value for money with the food. Originally expectations weren’t relatively high, and I thought we’d get a Wetherspoons style experience. BUT actually the food was great, really good prices and Taylor who served our table was an absolute champ. Very attentive, and checked in on us over the course of the lunch several times. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good well priced pub grub with a great atmosphere and warm friendly staff. Will be coming again when I’m next back in the UK.

Very disappointed with the food (chicken) over cooked. Green salad two leaves. I feel it was not to the usual standard and was not value for the money. I normally visit your restaurant at least six times a year but I feel reluctant to visit again.😠

Early morning breakfast, just wanted peace, food and my book. The server, Rachel, was lovely and she made sure she was available to customers at all times, without being intrusive. The food was cooked fresh, was hot and delicious. Highly recommend!

Bank holiday brunch for a birthday, Food was almost edible. Over cooked black pudding, rock hard sausages. Second time trying it and would rather go to the mother in laws for breakfast and she over cooks everything, but still has more flavour than the Bell. Will never bother with this again. Staff are great, food is 🤔🤔🤔 not worth it.

The food was delicious. Absolutely delectable. Fern (our server) was an absolute sweetheart! She was so attentive and made sure to get to us in the shortest time possible. My only complaint was our table neighbour, they were letting their kids run around and cause havoc 90% of our meal before they left. But overall, a 10/10 establishment. So thrilled. Will be back soon.

Went with family for Mother’s Day, food exceptional as well as service. Wouldn’t have expected it to be so good considering such a busy day. This establishment is well organised and staff are so friendly. The restaurant is always clean and there’s a lovely atmosphere. We will definately come again soon. Quick cheerful and efficient service by our waitress Fern. Lovely food well presented. Fern was attentive and helpful throughout our two course meal.

I visited with my brother, arriving about 11am. We were shown to a nice window seat. Service was swift and friendly. Impressed to have my tap water served with ice and lemon - a nice touch. Food was hot and tasty. Reasonable prices. Good value for money. Toilets were clean.

Never again, I came whit my colleague to sleep at your hotel for work. Whe spend 114£+ for dinner, a man came and bring us the bill to pay , when have not asked him for the bill yet , he made us filling to leave the place because he needed the tabel for other customers. This is so unprofessional and rude . No thanks no coming back ever

Where to go on a Sunday. Why not stop here. Big star for the friendly staff and the special was really tasty. Taste, method of preparation, ... enjoy. Come back next week for the steak and wine specials!

Found the place very enjoyable, and very busy for a Tuesday lunch time which is always a good sign of a business doing well. service was about right ,not rushed, and not too long to wait between courses either.Drinks were reasonable priced and the beer was good!! and well kept.

Came on a Sunday for lunch. Lovely pub, well kept with great atmosphere. Drinks were good and the kids meals were decent too, kids loved them. I decided to have the chicken and chorizo kebab. For £15.25 there was one skewer with 3 tiny pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of chorizo. A large pita that was served cold and it was stale, a few days old at least, included was a very small portion of fries, I know cost of living is high but coming out to a pub you expect a hearty tasty meal and my dish was far from that or any value for money. Disappointing, I should have had the roast that looked really good.

We come here fairly often to charge our electric car and have a meal - and it’s always been fantastic. Heather was absolutely lovely too and made our stay that much brighter!

Good food, comfy place and friendly staff

We booked a twin room for the 28.02.24, and at first glance, it was well presented. However, we found mould on the curtains, slimy gunk in the basin plug hole and quite alot of scuff marks. The quality of the complimentary tea and coffee was to a good standard and presented enough sachets for the evening and morning. I found the travelodge bigger and half the price, however the beds are much more comfortable here. The doors should have a soft self-closing as doors can be heard banging (very light sleeper) at all hours of the morning. The security entrance is superb, with having to scan your card twice to get through two doors. Free parking is good. Amenties are excellent with everything on your doorstep. The only negative was the check-out process; you can check out online but no notice to show/tell you where to return the cards. We eventually walked across to the pub and returned.

Food and service were very good. Place looking slightly shabby and in need of an upgrade. Gents toilet was not very clean and had large puddles on the floor.

When we initially arrived we were left standing at the front door for ages and although plenty of staff walked passed not one acknowledged us or apologised for keeping us waiting,we were just deciding on another restaurant when we were finally seated.Thankfully, Heather who looked after our table was lovely and could not have given better customer service. The food was lovely and thankfully made up for the terrible greeting when we arrived. Thank you so much Heather.

Initially, they were very welcoming. We had a lovely lunch but felt that once we had finished and wanted to stay for drinks, the staff weren't so friendly. We changed tables so as not to be in the way of other diners, but the staff seemed to be offish and we didn't feel particularly comfortable.

There was a problem with one meal and it was stone cold in the middle of the pie. This was sorted quickly and a fresh meal provided free of charge and 30% taken off the bill

What a fabulous experience! On a busy Sunday night service we were cared and catered for perfectly by Heather. It was just what was needed after a long day moving home. Served by Daniel today, me and my son of 21 months of age visited for lunch, Daniel was absolutely brilliant, he made sure my son's food was dairy free due to his allergy, service was 100%, no fault, attitude, respect and helpfulness was 10 out of 10. Thank you, we will definitely return.

Always lovely visit about twice a week however last night meal was not very good my steak was so tough I couldn’t eat it I ended up taking it home for my dog who even had trouble chewing it

Friendly and attentive service, and they managed to squeeze us in (we were a large party of 10). Nothing was too much trouble, including accommodating a buggy for a young one. I had a salad which was fresh and tasty, but I’ve heard the chicken here is excellent.

What a let down! First time seeing such bad service in a family restaurant waiters drinking and forgetting to clear tables ! BIG BIG improvement must admit after a year or so decided to visit again today for a Sunday roast and hands up a completely different experience to my last visit when in the area. I’m really amazed to be there, they’re very nice people and clean property. Only thing disappointed me is the exit time which is 11am. Otherwise it’s a very safe and convenient place to spend nights in affordable prices.

Popped in for a quick bevy before walking home from shopping @WWX, stayed for 2 bottles of very nice pinot. Food looked and smelt lovely so will be returning to try it.

We booked a table for Four for 1pm Saturday 6th January we were shown to a table which was right by the children’s area, we asked the host if we could be moved to a table not in the children’s area we could see there were lots of empty tables in the other restaurant area, unfortunately the host came back and said there was nowhere else, with that we said to him we would not be staying and we’re leaving, with that he said ok I would like to say that the restaurant did look very tired and old and didn’t look very clean not like it used to be when we used to frequent it a lot, I did use the men’s toilet and that had water all over the floor from the urinal, so sadly not a good experience I am afraid unfortunately to say so
