Fabulous food with friendly and attentive service. What a fabulous meal . Chicken Tikka Tawa was simply delicious . The Prawn Balti was so full of prawns and beautifully spiced . The Peshwari nan was cooked to perfection. BYO was a bonus with a Coop opposite meant we were able to have our chosen wine . Service was excellent from a very friendly waiter . Highly recommended.

Not the best curry. I order chicken balti x2 was ok very salty and the chips tasted of old grease and ordered some samosas and they was the ones you get from asda the tiny frozen ones not the best u need to do better!!

July 24th 2024 ate at this Restaurant. Food was excellent, staff very pleasant, was asked if everything was alright.Service was good our meals arrived in a good time Had a super meal and will go back again as it was so enjoyable.

Food delivered on time and hot. Very tasty, chicken tender and sauces not oily. Reminded us of the Rajpoot in bath.

We had previously eaten in this restaurant and found the food not bad but expensive. Last night we ordered a takeaway which consisted of two meals one with contained previously cooked roast chicken with a sauce slopped over it. The prawn dish was tasteless and contained small precooked prawns a few huge lumps of onion. The pots of raita and onion were tiny with a mouthful in each and poppadoms not fresh. Why do they ask for cash ??? Definitely a no go for us now!

Wanted to try the restaurant which had mixed reviews, it's not authentic Indian, since it's managed by Bangladeshi chef, it had the typical flavours of Bengal, mixed grill was hard which didn't taste fresh, lamb biryani was sweet with mild spices, food took an hour to arrive which I didn't mind, but could see other customers mourning, if you looking for spice and not authentic Indian flavours, you can try it, otherwise Waitrose Indian packed boxes are better

I last visited this place two years ago and gave it a 'poor' review and vowed never to return again. However, bowing to pressure from my family, I found myself there again and expecting the worst. Far from it though, we all had excellent meals and much to my surprise great friendly efficient service. No complaints and a good time was had by all. Will definitely be visiting again!

Great curry night out with friends. Bring your own drinks so price was good. Jay and the waitresses very friendly and the food came out piping hot. Really enjoyed our night at the Raj.

Have to say that the curry we’ve just had from Rajpoot was disappointing. One limp poppadom, some very tough chicken and it took almost two hours to arrive. I understand they are busy, but we weren’t in any rush. We ordered knowing there would be a wait. Busy Easter weekend. But the food was just crap. We’ve had food from here before and it’s been great but sadly times have changed. I will definitely be trying the competition next time.

The best curry I’ve ever had in Devon and Cornwall and believe me I LOVE curry! Full flavoured and so very tasty. We had a bit of a mix up with the order but it was due to a bad phone signal and not the restaurant. I had a Rogan Josh and asked for heat to be added and it was just perfect. Husband had the chilli garlic tawa and said it was extremely good. The naan could have been bigger but if it was I probably wouldn’t have been able to eat it all anyway. Plenty of meat, sublime flavours and super tasty. Can’t recommend enough 10/10

Ordered takeaway late one evening and it did not disappoint. They honored my low tolerance for spice but my veggies and dal had tons of flavor.

Just moved to the area and had fresh vibrant currys. The wife had the vegetable Tawa and I had a succulent lamb Jalfrazi. Great meal.

This is our 2nd visit and again it was very tasty, it was quiet as it was mid week and early, we had fantastic service. The chicken chaat was up there with the best I’ve had. The portions were generous and we struggled to finish the meal. Would definitely recommend for a visit.

Looks like my review has been removed , basically i was overcharged, i tripped up on the floor that has two levels but no bright tape to warm you. No refund after explaining i was charged for food we didn't order or receive. The manager offered a bottle of beer , wouldn't refund the money so awkward. To sum up damaged knee, overcharged, and to really add insult to injury i had severe diarrhoea for two days. A charmless nightmare of a meal. Beware.

The food was very overrated. It was cold and very overpriced for the small bits of meat we got in our food, the waiters/waitresses were quite rude and arrogant. We were not checked on and had to ask at the bar for drinks. We was then told to go away and someone would come and take a drinks order and that never happened the toilet disgusting it was not clean. There was no tissue no hand wash. The bin was overflowing was just a disgrace of a place to eat. You want to be ashamed serving food like that price for what I received at night was absolutely disgusting go to Curry garden I will definitely be next time when we ask to speak to the manager are young boy came out he didn’t really understand us in the end we just ate our food and left without a drink as we were still waiting when our food came. Even though we asked for times for drinks we still did not get any and then they pulled there face when we remove the service charge.

We’ve used this place many times, and most times enjoyed it. Things have changed though. Really not good food, bland and old tasting. But the main thing is they often pull the ‘broken card machine ‘ trick. Cash only & we all know why. During the summer a family member had the same thing and said he had no cash & as if by magic a working machine appeared. Might have a word with a good friend of mine who works for HMRC. Don’t encourage them!!

Lovely restaurant - great portions and food was delicious. Made to feel welcome. Wasn't aware if was bring your own drink but didn't impact us. So pleased we found it by chance - would highly recommend.

This was our second visit to this excellent family run restaurant. Both times we have enjoyed some delicious dishes, prepared and served to a very high standard. Olid, our server this evening, was most charming and helpful; he is clearly very proud of the restaurant and enjoys his time in St. Ives. Our experiences of this fine establishment make us unreservedly able to recommend you to also partake of its culinary delights. Great food. Good service. Pleasant ambiance. Good value. What is not to like. Come here!

This restaurant is lovely for a nice wine and dine evening meal. There was 4 of us and it was rather late but they still had no problem with seating us. My girlfriend did have a few too many and was in the toilet after ordering but they yet still did not have a problem. The wait was really quick for our food and we were served in no time. I had the lamb tikka and it was beautiful! In the end I asked if some food could be taken away and they were happy to do so, really lovely evening. As a chef myself I give this place a good 8-9/10!

Ordered and ate my meal and overnight had terrible stomach pain culminating in throwing up several times in the morning. Didn’t order food poisoning so very disappointed to say the least!

WOW i have eaten a lot of curry in many places but this was the best ever ! Spoilt for choice on the menu lots of unusual dishes. Not skimpy on the size of the dish either or the contents (chicken in our case) Being nosey every one else's looked good too and we wanted to try everything Excellent service not the normal get you in get you out Indian BYO worked really well

Not the greatest experience. First of all, the poppadoms were not crispy - quite soft and not good at all. We then had to wait a very long time (well over an hour) for the main courses. It took so long, we actually had to check whether they were coming! They also charge 50p a bottle for any alcohol you bring in. I.e. 4 bottles of beer - £2. Overall, not recommended.

We booked a table in advance via telephone. There is a huge choice on the menu at reasonable prices. The food was very good and the service was good. When they presented us with the bill it had a 10% service charge on which was written as though it was compulsory (no mention of it on the menu). When we enquired we were infact told it wasn't so we asked them to remove it. We don't like giving a tip on a card as you never know if it actually goes to the staff so we left a cash tip instead.

Visited here twice during our 5 day stay in st ives and we thought it was amazing.cant rate the starters as we didn't have them. The mains were fantastic,cooked very well and plenty of meat in them. Superb.

Too many tables packed in. On the night we went they apologised as short staffed. Service poor, waiting ages for food, nearly left. Food was very nice but overall experience left us reluctant to recommend or return.

this is a lovely restraunt in Cornwall I loved the food it's was nice and portions were generous, please note that there was a review a week before this one saying bad things about this place I can deny these allegations as the person was served next to me in the restraunt and didn't raise any issues alongside there person they were with. I'm glad this place has been here since the 80s and will like to see it continue.

Prices don’t match menu, they just charge you what they like we were overcharged by about £30 rip off

We called for booking and hotel manager said it’s walk in and when we walked in he said we have to wait for 1 hour. We waited for an hour, it was around 9:30 then the manager said you need to order minimum 5 main course else he would not allow. He did this intentionally because he knew that it’s late and now it will be hard to get dinner elsewhere. Anyways we were two families so we said yes just to get the table as it was getting late. During dinner the crowd was so unfriendly people drinking and shouting, it was not at all a experience that you would like when you are with kids and family.

Have been many times whilst holidaying in St Ives, the food is always superb “but” the tables are far to small and your crammed in with absolutely no table space, chairs are uncomfortable and on our last visit last week the service was shocking, had a lot of food left over and so asked the staff to please bag it for take out, the guy actually brought me the foil trays and a plastic bag to my table and said there you go!!!!!! Ordered a simple cheese and garlic naan and we got a pipping boiling microwaves naan with cheese and garlic dumped in. Sounds petty but it was awful. If you can't get that right then there's no hope and if its a case of small order so their service means nothing then shame on them.

Can't fault the food, but service was very slow and the soft drinks are a rip off. Pint of Pepsi poured from a 2l bottle cost £5.60. No alcohol sold at this restaurant, but you can take your own with a bottle charge of 50p...

The main course for the family consisted of various curries and had the consistency of a broth with a few pieces of over cooked chicken. Have had brilliant meals before, so decided to go again for the takeaway. I can only say that the restaurant/takeaway...

Had a takeaway from here last night. Curry Garden has a 1 star hygiene rating, but here has a 4, so I thought it was the better of the two. They only accept cash for takeaway...bit naughty if you ask me. Anyway! .... the food was piping hot. Good sized portion. We paid around £32 for 2 mains, a nann, rice, and 2 starters. Waited 40mins. Was a lovely takeaway after a busy beach day.

The tawa really is something of a speciality. My sister and I visited here twice during our short visit to St. Ives. Welcoming staff. Lovely food. The only issue is that you cannot prebook a table.

Great curries at a reasonable price

Very bad experience, they served ready made food in naan , actual chef don’t know about Indian test they served plain daal instead of Tadka daal they told me Tadka means dal mixed with garlic hahahaha they don’t know actually what is tadka …. In the last they told me only cash payment allowed no computer till machine or accounting receipt given instead of cash Which I paid only they provide bill in plain paper and they told me they run this type of business since last 29 years how can we believe this……. It’s very bad experience and all of food tasteless… they don’t know original taste of India …. Even there is no served jeera rice no served main course item in paneer …. After all very bad service and experience….

Decent Indian restaurant with decent food. Food is good but nothing extraordinary. Too big a menu. But the weird rules of the restaurant made the experience not so pleasant. We were quite tired after the whole day walking around the town. So we wanted to take away the food and have it in our hotel. But surprisingly, they don't accept cards for takeaway. Only for dine in. So we had to dine. For each guest you have to order a main. Appetizers or sides will not work. I guess thats a complete destruction of my free will and choice of food. They give a very informal Handwritten scrap of paper in the name of the bill. Also never ever order chicken pakoda. It's a disaster.

Terrible food. Had a takeaway and the chicken tikka masala along with their speciality item on the menu were just terrible. No authentic curry tastes and it felt like I was consuming coconut milk instead of a curry.

Best Chicken Tawa that I have ever had. The flavors were rich and profound and unforgettable. This little gem of a restaurant is tucked into a charming street in St. Ives and knocked my socks off! Can't wait to go back! Thanks Rajpoot for the best meal I have had all month-long in Cornwall AND... London!

Really lovely Indian food. We were initially concerned as it was so quiet (out of season) but we were very pleasantly surprised - the meal was delicious and obviously prepared with a lot of care. Very friendly staff too. Bring your own alcohol for a very small corkage fee.

A long weekend in St Ives! It is very difficult not to visit Rajpoot to enjoy their wonderful curries. So here we are. It's bring you own drinks so a "red" and 2 Isaho beers were duly bought and consumed. The popadoms and chutneys, a chicken balti and a tikka masala were delicious and just enough with Onion Bhajis as a side. Good service and friendly....always a good ambiance....

We arrived at the restaurant having visited on several occasions over the past few years. There were 3 young girls waiting on and it soon became apparent that all was not well. The restaurant was not busy but the girls did not seem to be able to cope with even the basics. One of the girls eventually came over to take our order looking rather flustered. She went on to tell us that the manager had walked out earlier that evening. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we observed other customers having to ask several times for their bill. There seemed to be a lot of ‘eye rolling’ whenever the girls were asked to do anything. One of the girls in particular just didn’t seem to be interested or bothered and another put her coat on and disappeared outside only to return shortly after and prop up the bar with a can of pop. We had ordered poppadoms and pickles but these did not arrive. After a wait the starters eventually came out. After we had finished these we reminded one of the girls that we were still waiting for our poppadoms. Eventually they appeared but with no pickles. The delivery driver who was at the bar could see that we were frustrated with the service and eventually brought over some ‘takeaway’ pots of pickles. No one came to clear the table after the starters and poppadoms and when the girls started to bring out our mains we had to ask them to stop and clear the table first. The delivery driver passed us on his way out and wished us “good luck”. Whilst we were eating our mains, a man appeared from the kitchen and another man arrived at the restaurant and they went behind the bar. At no point did anyone come over to see if things were ok or apologise for what was basically the worst service we have ever received. The final straw came when one of the men brought over the bill and a 10% service charge had been applied. We immediately advised him that we would not be paying the service charge and would also be making a further reduction to reflect the terrible service. The only positive was the fact that the food was really nice. Things will need to vastly improve before we will consider returning.

Absolutely stunning food. Staff were brilliant, very friendly and professional without being intrusive whilst we were eating. Would definitely recommend. Been in St Ives for four days now and this was the best meal of the week.

I wasn’t sure about booking a meal here as reviews were 3.4 out of 5, less than the other restaurant. But local people said this was a better restaurant and I wholeheartedly agree. Food was the real deal, individual flavours, mushroom and onion bhajees delicious. Service very good, toilets immaculately clean. Could not fault them. Best curry in a very long time

Never visit St Ives without a visit to Rajpoot. Absolutely superb food combined with friendly, efficient service. Yes, you may have to wait a while during busy times, but that’s just the way it is if you want freshly prepared food. They don’t serve alcohol, but you’re welcome to bring your own - there’s a co-op across the road. Highly recommended.

I use this restaurant every time I'm in st Ives however this year September 2022 while waiting at my table for 10 mins for a member of staff to bring the menus I witnessed one of the staff sneeze onto her hand then wipe it onto her t shirt at this point I got up and left the restaurant all the staff are young white girls just standing there laughing and talking about teenage stuff very unprofessional set up so I will not be going there again.

They only take cash not card, they are tax thief, booked a table for 20 people they told their waiter to go outside and they told us that we have to order one main dish per adult. Why would we order 1 main dish per adult and waste so much food ?

Ordered chicken tikka curry and chicken biryani and they were pathetic and not at all near to authentic Indian. Curry was sweet and was coconut based and was quite bad in taste. We thought we ordered less food but end up throwing half of the food in dustbin.

Our annual holiday treat from Rajpoot and it doesn't disappoint. Good portions and yes alittle more expensive and I mean alittle than Curry Houses back home in the North West but well worth the money. Other restaurants treat you as a captive audience and price accordingly but we are always very happy with the taste and quality from here.

Absolutely shocking experience. After a long day I was starving and wanted a nice curry to tuck into. I was with a friend who wasn’t very hungry so she was just going to order a side dish. As we try to order, we’re told that each customer HAS to order 1 main meal. So my friend tells me to go ahead and order, and that she won’t have anything so I can go ahead and eat. Our server comes back and tells us that unless my friend orders a main meal, we have to leave. I have never been treated so poorly and so unwelcome in a restaurant before. The table next to us were shocked as well and they lost about £30-35 of business. An incredible Mexican restaurant called The Mex a couple of doors down had our business instead. Friendly service, and incredible flavour, highly recommend!

We weren't really looking for a curry, but after struggling to find anywhere in St Ives that had any availability we called in on the off chance, at first we were a bit put off when the waitress asked for our drinks order and found out that they didn't have a licence to sell alcohol, but a quick trip across the road to the co-op for a bottle of wine and a couple of Koppabergs sorted that out, and saved us a few quid no doubt. When our food arrived any doubts were set aside, wow, every dish was fantastic, tandoori mixed grill on a sizzling platter, lamb tikka, chicken tikka, all absolutely gorgeous, no pressure to move on, nice relaxed atmosphere, I would highly recommend Rajpoot, well done guys, you excelled yourselves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We came to Rajpoot in hopes of a fantastic dinner, due to past experiences at the restaurant. However, we were sat waiting for 1 and a half hours for our food in an overcrowded restaurant and finally served by incompetent and clearly untrained staff with a lack of customer service regard. The food and drink was below par as well; very chewy and seemingly undercooked chicken and overpriced drinks. When it came to paying, a hidden 10% ‘service charge’ was added to our bill and eventually refunded incorrectly by an employee completely lying about a member of my party agreeing to this ‘service charge’. All in all, I would certainly not recommend this restaurant to the abundance of holiday-makers visiting each year who are essentially starved of good Indian cuisine across their destination of St. Ives.
