Another 10 out of 10 meal never disappointed when eating in or having a take out

It's my go to curry restaurant and have been going here for years. Friends, family all love this place and come back time after time. Thank you Jewel and the rest of the team for looking after us, it's always a pleasure to see you again.

Best curry around by far . Always a good service too .

5.7.20, was worried and a bit hesitant at first about it... After 4 mins, all worries gone. Spaced out tables, waiters in masks, paper disposable menus, quiet, attentive, hand sanitizer stations, and of course really amazing food. We loved our new normal this evening. So friendly, so understanding.

Very busy night staff didn’t stop. The short menu was very disappointing as we had come a long way for a special evening. However the food was wonderful and very high quality, overall a great experience.

Great efficient service on their busiest night of the year. Only criticism was the restricted “valentines menu” I generally have a Biriani but not available to sit down customers but ok for takeaways.?

The best evening out with my 4 year old son! The waiter was just wonderful and the food was perfect. They entertained my son and took him in to the kitchen to meet the chefs. Finally found my perfect local after Millan closed

Fantastic food with great service. They have a huge selection of wonderful dishes and a good selection of wine. The staff I have met have always been attentive and knowledgeable.

For the high price, the food was below average compared to our local Indian, they also forgot the naan bread, and onion bhajee were very dry with no taste of onion. Heard great things about this restaurant, but i won't be returning.

Every time we go to Rajah we are made to feel so welcome, the staff are all so great, the food is the best around by far and there is always a good atmosphere great for family’s and couples. We highly recommend Rajah.

I haven't eaten here for a while but I get regular take away meals which are consistently tasty and plentiful. I have tried nearly all the mains and various starters and sides. Everything is cooked well often with fresh spices. Prices are a little expensive but it's still good value for money. I like the variety of vegetables in vegetable dishes and the chicken tikka. Would recommend. Is very busy at weekends.

lovely curry , had chicken tikka masala nice and creamy dad had madras and mum had dansak and they both said was amazing ! also had popadoms, onion bajees, naan bread and sagaloo. friendly staff and great service, our go to curry house

Good food and really great service. We took our kids with us for a bit of a treat and could not have been made to feel more welcome. Would definately recommend.

Very quiet weekday evening meal. Service was excellent and so was the food. We'll definitely be back.

From the moment you enter until you leave the experience is outstanding. The food is obviously of a very high quality and the chefs know how to cook it to perfection. The staff are friendly and would cook anything to your liking. The mixed grill was superb along with the Peshawar NaN. Presentation is also high.

Chicken tikka was worst that I have ever tasted. It was so sweet, it tasted more like caramel sauce. Could not eat it. Their saving grace was that they naturally, did not charge me. Also poppadoms tasted slightly old. Will not return to this establishment. Did not enjoy the atmosphere!!

I just went tonight for the first time with my friend, my husband and my baby and it was a very nice experience. We tried different things. I really recommend the lamb birmani and the Indian potatoes. Staff was very lovely too

Visited Rajah for the second time for a friends birthday, this is a very nice Indian Restaurant bur sadly was not at all busy, which is a bit worrying.We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children and we were very well looked after.We shared a selection of starters and each chose their mains, I had the tandoori mixed grill which was very special indeed, the quality and quantity of the food was excellent.We had great service and a nice night, I hope they get more customers as they certainly deserve it.

This restaurant always surprises me. It's was a place that I would drive by often and never think of going in. The parade of shops where it is doesn't do it justice. Inside is very pleasant and the tables are nicely spacer for privacy. The food is really good, everything tastes fresh and interesting. All the vegetables are served fresh and crisp, the okra side is a must. Don't let the location put you off, give it a try.

I’m afraid if an Indian restaurant serves cheddar but describes it as paneer on menu it can only ever be an average place to go. Also wine was served as 125ml but charged as 175ml which I think is a bit off. I’ll go back if they stop putting cheddar in the sag paneer.

It's incredibly expensive .. the food doesn't deserve that price at all ... i'll never back here

We're regulars there. Excellent restaurant and welcoming. Only problem is helpings are large! Recommend.

My family and I have been visiting the Rajah to eat in or order takeaway for over ten years and there are two reasons why we are repeat customers. First, the food always tastes fresh and delicious. Second, the service we receive is of the highest standard. These are good people who care about their food and their customers. I always leave Rajah with a smile of my face and a happy belly!

The Rajah is a lovely family run Indian restaurant and the owner is the uncle of a very good friend of mine! We always get fantastic service and the food is amazing! Staff are really friendly and welcoming. If your a true fan of Indian food then get along to the Rajah!

Excellent food and excellent service

Great food and service. Many great choices on the menu and they will also cater for any special requirements if you are curry connoisseur or beginner. Jules the manager makes the whole experience enjoyable and wanting to return. Chilly cheesy naan is my tip! Check he is there before booking. Southwick’s little treasure.

Phoned in order at 6pm to be picked up at 7.15 pm .Arrived at 7.15pm to be told orders are not cooked until paid for, why were we not told this at time of placing order. So we waited for our order with a queue of other customers, and waited and waited and waited. Two and a quarter hours later we were told they had given our order to the wrong person, by this time they said they were running out of rice. Eventually we got our order home to find one main meal missing and two special pelau rice replaced with one plain rice . This kind of service or lack of it is tottaly unacceptable. If you cannot supply the service don't except the order in the first place. The food itself was mediocre at best and the whole experience ruined our evening. We will not be using the Rajah again and would certainly not recommend them.

Absolutely great food but the service OMG it was awful , such a shame, spoilt the night

Have been using the Rajah for over 10 years and would have highly recommended it - though something has fundamentally changed and I don’t think it was a one off. The food was extremely bland- in fact four different dishes which were to be spicy - tasted the same. Mushroom Bhargi again was bland and poor quality. Some of the breads were greasy and missing fillings, Items were missing off the order, service was slow. It was not very busy and there were new staff. It is regret I write this as have not been disappointed before - but all four of us decided we would not visit again. It’s not cheap but you do expect tasty food with good service.

Been here a few times and is normally very good but tonight it was very disappointing. We ordered 3 different chicken dishes and the chicken was overcooked in all of them. They started clearing stuff throught the meal before we'd finished with it and leaning over us whilst doing it.One of the waiters needs a large dose of personality pills and lessons on smiling. The young waiter was very nice and polite. One of our group asked if her unfinished meal could be packed up to take home, when she got home she discovered she'd been be given the left overs of someone elses meal, so that person must have been disappointed when they got home too! All in all a not a great experience, we won't be returning☹.

Best Indian food for miles by miles!

Rubbish take away, extremely overcooked lamb, bland rice and when I complained on phone about the 4 minutes it took to get through a peice of lamb the guy on phone defensive and said to busy to deal with! Used to be a great restaurant but I would not go back again after such poor service/attitudr!

Bland boring takeaway this was the first time ordering from her I won't again it all tasted the same to be honest I expected more for the expensive price. Poppadoms tasted old.

We come here a lot! Second to none Indian food with very friendly and attentive staff. Nice ambient lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. Their fresh nan bread is delicious, as are all other dishes I've tried. Lots of flavour and and all freshly prepared.

The food is delicious but the service is very bad

expensive and bland curry in run down surroundings. I will say they were friendly enough but this curry was the most mediocre I think I have ever had. Shame as I used to come here years ago as a regular and it was always good. Obviously changed a lot over the years.

Tummy ache and upset stomach. Me and my partner had the same condition we had only eaten a takeway from here together so can only assume it was the chicken. I must admit it didn't look right but we both thought it would be ok. Big mistake I won't be ordering from here again.

Well wish I hadn't visited here.....one of the most terrible meals I have ever had. Myself and the missus both the next day had upset stomachs, me worse than her. Which wasn't great as we had a wedding to attend. Food took forever, and I mean forever to come out. We were just sitting there watching take away after take away coming out the kitchen....if you are seated you are obviously low low priority. Years ago this place was very good, now tired decor and terrible food at far too expensive for what it is prices.

The best place in Shoreham and surrounding area for a curry. Exceptional menu, proper tandoori dishes and friendly attentive staff. Highly recommend this place, also free parking out the front and a stones throw from Brighton. Lucky to have this place so local to our shop!

Fantastic menu with beautifully cooked tandoori food, lightly charred just as it should be from a tandoor. The king prawn jalfrezi was full of flavour and plenty of prawns. The rice was some of the best I have had in Sussex. Lovely bottled Cobra and polite and helpful staff. It costs a little more than your average Indian but the food is so much more tasty and it exudes quality ingredients. 3 of us enjoyed a great evening.

Overcooked dry chicken, burnt poppadoms, burnt naans and just in general very Bland and terrible will never have anything again from there.

Pretty much title says it all. Very bland, looked like frozen veg in curries. Staff ok but they obviously took care of the take aways first so food took a long time between courses. Not the cheapest or the best let down don't really see myself coming back. Ever.

Lovely food..very busy restaurant

15 happy ladies! Not always easy to please everyone but no complaints at all! We were very well looked after, the food delicious, and excellent service. I always say you can judge a restaurant by its toilets! - well they were immaculate - so that says it all! Thank you to all at Rajah.

I ate dinner here with 14 friends a few nights ago. The food was jolly good and piping hot, the price was very reasonable and the staff were attentive and friendly. What more can you ask for? Highly recommended.

Quite place with good service and good food. I don't know why more visit as this place is a good curry house with good food. Service was excellent but the place was very quiet. We will return again in the near future.

Absolutely terrible experience at this restaurant. Food wasn't even that great, not even close to average. Starters were served cold and took forever and a day! The restaurant was less than half full yet dozens of 'take away' orders seemed to be prioritised over customers in house. Took about 25 minutes to have the waiter over to take our order, another 45 mins of waiting for starters to be served, and another close to and hour for them to serve the main course - which means our total wait time was about 2 ridiculous hours to be served the main as soon as we were seated!! When it comes to changing our cutleries after we've finished our starters - the waiter practically "threw-slide" the cutleries at us and expected us to set our own table.(Sorry but "throw-slide" action is the only way i can describe the way they handled the re-setting of cutleries). And when it comes to clearing the plates after our mains - this waitress practically stacked all the used cutleries on my plate in a rough manner which bothered us quite a bit but we kept quiet about it not wanting to seem rude. The waiter and waitress were either really poorly trained at their job or just plain rude! The final straw (when i could no longer bite my tongue anymore) was when bill came, the waitress literally did a drive-by on us and dropped the metal bill tray from a height and walked away without a word. When we questioned (i presume is) the manager "is there a reason why your waitress is upset with us?" and told him about what she did and the experience we've had so far. To which, he replied with the most appalling comeback "it's a busy night... your the first person to say this and complain, you don't have to come back here next time if you don't want to" without expressing any apology. SHOCKING! And to antagonise us even more - on our way out the staff had the audacity to mock us and say "smile - it's Christmas tomorrow!" ... I could no longer stand the antagonistic treatment, so i replied "NO. I am not going to smile, your service is APPALLING!!" (not allowed to use profanity here but i had to replace the word with "sheet" as it is the closest sounding to a word i'm referring to that you already know :) Terrible service and absolutely no concern over customer's experience or concerns. Wouldn't dine there again if my life depended on it. Will never recommend this place ever, and i suggest you don't waste your time, money and energy there. The food wasn't even that great and was served cold! AWEFUL AWEFUL PLACE AND STAFF! **Response** APOLOGY NOT ACCEPTED. I still pass by your aweful ugly rude establishment - and every time I drive pass I will make it a point to flip the middle finger at your restaurant... you know what would help? Please save yourself from embarrassment and stop insulting Indian cuisine with you extortionate prices and ultra bland lousy tasting food - its best to shut down your restaurant! I REALLY REALLY HAVE NEVER HATED A RESTAURANT AND ITS SERVICE STAFF SO MUCH IN MY LIFE!!!

Had the most amazing food at Rajah! The food was piping hot and nothing was wrong or misplaced. Brilliant staff members and amazing cooks:) definitely coming back

Met with the cast of a theatre company for an after show curry. Group of about 30. Had papadoms and chutneys to start. Most people had main and side and naan. I chose Lamb Jalfreizi and partner Chicken Korma. Korma was really nice and creamy and rice nice. Lamb Jalfreizi was OK, not really special more of a watery stew rather than a sauce. Side dish of Vegetable Naramish was better. Egg Poratha was slightly greasy but pleasant. Not sure of other guests but having dined in town at restaurant opposite Ropetackle I know of better cuisine. Good for service but nothing special on the food. Rather pricey compared to in town.

Great fresh food and friendly staff.

El Rajah está muy cerca de nosotros y por consiguiente hemos estado allí un poco, tanto para llevar y comer allí con amigos y familia. Hay restaurantes más baratos india y me hubiera gustado que tuviera un servicio de entrega! Sin embargo, yo no me puedo quejar de la comida o el servicio de cualquier manera y sentirse muy contento de que, cada vez que pasa me encuentro planeando la próxima visita.

No pensé que lo fantástico darles otra ve. . . Era bastante soso. y sin sabor. Caro error sabía que debería haber pedido a otro lugar, pero esperaba que habían mejorado. . . . Pues no...

La decoración era un poco anticuada, pero el personal atento y amable y una buena selección de comida india. Poppadoms son geniales. . . Nos gustan los picantes. Buen curry, pero no el mejor que hemos tenido. La parrilla tandoori era buena y las porciones son muy generosas.

We have been to the Rajah lots of times and never had bad service. The food has always been excellent. It may cost a little more, than the rest in the area but the next best is in Hove / Brighton, Taxi £10/15 each way. cheep as chips.

Great all round, have been here a few times now, we live in Southwick so it's just 3 minutes away. Nice clean spacious restaurant and polite waiters.

Been coming here for years now and always get the highest level of service and quality of food. One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. Even takeaway is always fantastic! Highly recommend

The most expensive curry i have ever paid for. very poor service and food was bland and boring.in sort overpriced and poor quality food. dont wast your money.

Takeaway obviously takes priority over seated diners took forever over 2hrs for starters and mains.....food bland obviously frozen veg in curries......used to be good what happened? Service rude you are made to know you are a problem if you ask for an update as to why it is taking sooooo long....and expensive!!! Really expensive......wont come again

This is our new favourite local Indian. We like the food the service and the spacious restaurant. They cater for your needs if you want something special. Like no carbs. Will keep returning

This restaurant is consistently excellent. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is always fresh and tasty. The starter basket is delicious. I also enjoy their chicken shaslik, stuffed paratha, fish jhall, spinach paneer and many others. Always top quality and fresh ingredients.

A friend suggested we go here last Saturday night. It was a busy restaurant which can be a good sign. My Chana starter was delicious. Onion bhaji's were over cooked. However, the mains were spicy and tasty. Great chicken curry and a decent portion of rice to go with it. I had their Hakali chicken. Service was good and I liked that they gave as a gap between starters and mains. Would definitely go back and worth going almost to Southwick.

Really lovely Indian restaurant that has deservedly built a good reputation for itself. The food they serve, is of a very high standard, plenty of varied options on the menu, all generously but perfectly portioned. The decor is good and the tables spaced out well, so as to not feel cramped. The staff are friendly and attentive. Off the beaten track...but well worth seeking out.

Went here for the first time tonight with friends. The menu was extensive, good service and excellent freshly cooked food.

Lovely food.. any lamb dish will show you exactly how much pride they take in their food.. option to eat in or take away means you can even enjoy it at home (also get a discount to take away)

Went here a few days ago, four of us. All very happy with our meals. The food is always nice and fresh, plenty of choice - no complaints.

The Rajah has become our favourite restaurant, not just because it's near where we live, but through the quality of the food and the approachability of the waiting staff. Not the cheapest, but the best never is. Highly recommended.

The best curry house for quality and service in Sussex. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly to celebrate the new year . The device was excellent from then on.

Had a lovely meal this evening celebrating our anniversary. We found the staff very friendly and the food was great! Will definitely go back and would recommend it!

Been here lots of times with friends and family but it really depends on the staff that are on determines on your experience here.Wrong curry came out containing ingredients i wad allergic to and replacement dish took only 5 mins to cook? ! No apology, instead we were made to feel a nuisance. Asked for service charge not to be added and the bill still came out +10%! Don't seem to listen! Used to be a great little place to eat. .. Not so much anymore.

We go to this restaurant regularly and the staff are extremely friendly and if you are unsure of hot or spicy s fish is, they will tell you all you need to know. I wanted to try something spicier but was not sure about going for the Madras dish. Waiter explained about the spices used and suggested that I had a slightly less spicy version of the dish. Had what was suggested which was extremely tasty then on a subsequent visit had a full Madras.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a brilliant meal.

Came here a few years ago and it was good. This time it was awful. Bland tasteless overpriced food. My advice. Avoid this place. It's just not a good experience.

The food was terrible and rice was dry. I used to love it here but I Definitely will not spend good money on them. I had to call the manager over and he was REALLY RUDE!! Dreadful experience.

The Currys were full of flavour and spices and I must say the best curry we have had in a very long time! Will definatley be coming back again as our local!

Come here at least once a month , been to others on the area but says come back here. Costa bit more but worth every penny

We used to eat here quite a bit and although a bit pricier compared to Indian restaurants in Shoreham(especially as service charge added) was usually worth it as always seemed prepared with fresh vegetables and herbs, with rich tasty sauces and quality meat. Unfortunately something has gone wrong here! Met by the same friendly waiter, we were shown to a table. We were the only diners in the restaurant for the whole time we were there. We only ordered mains (thankfully!), but both were so disappointing. They arrived quite quickly (whilst staff were shouting and arguing in the kitchen), but despite ordering 2 totally different curries they looked the same, apart from chillies in mine. Both were a pale brown colour, with a very watery consistency. We both felt the curries had been frozen and reheated. They had no sign of being freshly cooked. Apart from the fresh chillies, there was no real taste to either curry. I have no idea what has happened to this place, but judging by the empty restaurant I am guessing we are not the only disappointed customers. Sorry but can no longer recommend and will not be returning.

I had a great evening at the Rajah last night with my family. I have been to this restaurant for several meals and we always have a good experience. Atmosphere is relaxed. Easy parking and access for my elderly mum. Staff friendly and food of a good quality. The round table seats about 8 and is great for sharing conversation and food.

The service was good, the atmosphere relaxed, the décor serene, the premises super clean and the food was second to none! Coupled with the excellent company I was with, my visit to the Rajah was one to remember and relish, especially as we all went home with 'doggy bags' of beautiful Indian food stuff left over from the ample portions served. Highly recommended.
