My husband and I have eaten here very regularly for some time now. The owner Raj, her staff, the food and atmosphere is always great. We particularly love the pakoras and chicken tikka roll 😋 It is a pleasure to eat here and we will continue to do so

Visited again last night (18/10/24). As always, the food was great, the ladies serving were friendly, overall a great place to eat.

Our go to for very authentic Indian food! Love it, especially the tadkha dal

Ordered naam bread no naam in it. Also onion bhajis so cremated they were thrown in the bin.

Food here is amazing, would recommend if you’re near by.

Raj of India is a fabulous restaurant where great food, service and atmosphere is garenteed. I recently visited with friends and had a lovely time. The staff are great fun and professional, making our evening even better. Definitely a place I visit regularly! Love it there!

Raj of India is our go to Indian everytime without fail and they have always been accommodating on each occasion! Staff are friendly and go above and beyond for any requests, the restaurant is warm and cosy and the food is authentic and delicious! Whether you go on your own, as a group or a couple the restaurant caters for all, also a wide range of beverages!

Could not recommend this restaurant enough, from being located in the heart of a beautiful high-street to the genuine punjabi style food which is off the chart perfect every single time, without even mentioning the fantastic service you get on every visit. Will always be regulars here

Our first time coming to Raj of India (for myself, my first ever Indian! ) and we're so glad we did. Everything right from being able to make a booking, to us finishing was such an easy process and the food was delicious. The reviews made us a little apprehensive when reading dishes were overpowered by garlic, but this wasn't the case for us at all. You could taste each dish individually and the chicken was so tender ! Our waitress for the evening and the owner (I'm assuming) were nothing short of attentive and welcoming and we can't wait to come back again soon. Thank you for a lovely evening.

I had the chicken tikka methi with a garlic and cheese naan which was really delicious with the correct amount of spice and flavour. The curry was also still hot when I got home so I could eat it straight away.

Fantastic food , fantastic friendly service, would highly recommend this Indian to everyone and anyone who is wanting an excellent meal

We ordered the food and I have to say it was piping hot and absolutely delicious. I really can’t fault anything. The fish pakoreh were Devine and the butter chicken and nann breads were so tasty. You have to try the food here and the staff are so friendly.

Very poor curry my lamb madras had way too much garlic in. The lamb was actually beef and it was tough as old boots! We also got charged for dips and onions we didn’t even order! Paid £68 for 2 curry’s 2 rice 2 nanns 1 cobra and a captain and coke… keema naans was also dry thin and tasteless. Place was also a bit run down and dusty. Worst Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to sadly ruined my girlfriends bday

Quite frankly one of the most MEDIOCRE Indian restaurants I have ever been to. They may as well rename themselves to 'Garlic House of India' because every dish we had (and we had a wide spread) was overpowered by it. The salt and spices were off balance, the curries were very watery, and the taste was generally akin to that of a readymade purchased off an ASDA shelf. Sorry, but do better. A lot better

Came here on valentine's day, Food was cooked perfectly and was so tasty and all staff were amazing. This made our night .will definitely return

I'm highly disappointed with this restaurant.... so rude and unprofessional 😕 I ordered food and they decided to cancel my order... on Sunday I ordered food not knowing they were not delivering and order went to next day, thr was no way of me cancelling , then just eat came but beer left the food as I instructed to leave the food on my porch.... its a shame bcz I loved the food thr but will not ever order from thr again 😢 Everyone whose reading this please be aware 🙏

these curries were a real disappointment it was my birthday today been out had a lovely day asked for a curry for dinner. Was very hot no flavour to curries just heat chicken was tough, the saag paneer was almost burnt horrible colour, no real flavour in fact its now in the bin. I'm really disappointed, needless to say we want be using again.

The best adpect of Rah if India is that it offers Authentic Punjabi food. Very flavoursome. Also offers all the popular dishes obtained in other Indian restaurants. Lovely service. The lady who owns the place made us very welcome. Very reasonably priced. well worth a visit.

Nice place, good food and a good atmosphere

A lovely curry house, serving delicious food, including some unusual dishes I've never tried before. Staff are attentive and friendly, especially the lady who looks to be the manager. There are a lot of restaurants in and around Rochester High Street and this is one that is definitely worth a visit. We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend that you give it a try.

Ordered delivery for first time and it was awful And On ringing the restaurant their response was sorry but your not getting refund as it’s been delivered, and they cook to their standard not mine! The chicken was like raw jelly! Chicken tikka starter was the same as the chicken shaslick! On saying this to raj India I was told yes the chicken is all the same But shaslick comes with peppers onions well this wasn’t the case. Avoid at all costs!

Very cosy restaurant and the nicest curry i have had in ages. Don't recognise some of the complaints here. Have visited several times and had a good meal every time.

Really amazing authentic Indian food! Since moving to Medway 15 years ago from gravesend I haven’t been able to find a curry house I want to keep going back to until coming across this one. Even something simple like the rice is made so fluffy and with so much flavour.

Went here a few weeks ago to celebrate my Grandad’s birthday, 10 of us, group booking, food all came out piping hot, together, everyone was so happy with their meals. Look forward to going again soon. Reasonable prices too 👍🏽

We visited Raj of India for my sisters birthday, and I have to say the food was exceptional. All staff members were super kind and very organised, working well alongside the manager. I will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend to others.

Absolutely delicious! Every dish full of its own distinctive flavour, lovely light naan breads. Portion sizes good. No complaints will defo be back for more. Left feeling totally satisfied and as though we had good value for money. Thank you!

Give this restaurant a miss. No atmosphere, over priced food for the quality. No side dishes available on menu. If you want Bombay.potatoes as a side, your be charged a main dish price. Toilet is disgusting in the basement with access down a narrow steep staircase. Not ideal for the elderly or disabled. Much nicer Indian restaurants nearby or over the bridge.

For years l have been wanting to eat at this Restaurant. Went for our 34th Wedding Anniversary. Had a jug of water with only 2 ice cubes. Ordered a large mixed grill to share with the Husband as a starter and it was excellent and we really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. Then had a Tikka Masla with special fried rice and the Husband had Goat Curry with special fried rice. OMG l have never had such a sweet tasting Tikka Masala before. It was like eating sugar mixed in tomato puree with meat. It was like eating a extremely sweet dessert. Due to our special occasion l just ate the lamb meat with the special fried rice. The Husband's Goat Curry was excellent. I did inform the Head Hostess of the peculiar taste of the Tikka Masala but she was rather dismissive and implied l have never tasted a Tikka Masala before and did not know what it tasted like. Much as l enjoyed the Mixed Grill l will not be returning as no attempt was made to taste the Tikka Masala or speak to the Chef. Unfortunately l have Dibetices that by the time my Husband paid our bill my body was reacting to the sweetness of the Tikka Masala in an adverse way I would recommend this restaurant but becareful what you order

Mine and my partners favourite place to eat. Lovely staff, great food and enormous portions! Always enough for lunch the next day! A hidden gem on the high street!

Ive eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants , but this has to be in the bottom 2 , salty food , bounciest floor you could ever walk on . And just all round a strange experience

Fast service. Very friendly staff. The dishes are very good and very spicy, especially the naans. I recommend it if you like Indian food!

Fabulous vegetarian options. We had an excellent Paneer Shashlik and very well spiced Vegetable Madras. Nice clean restaurant, friendly staff, good wine list. Happy days!

Wonderful, friendly service. Lovely lady took my order and delivery boy was great. Being Indian and coming from London, the food was not as good as I have had previously from mum or London restaurants. However, it was edible and filling. Best items were the chicken biryani and the sheek kebub. Items to avoid: vegetable curry and pathia, which tasted like and had the consistency of, a jar of Sharwoods 🤮

Such a lovely restaurant. Came for Valentine’s Day and it was great! Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious- along with the complimentary Prosecco. Definitely recommend

Have had several meals here as well as take aways over the years Resturant changed handsin the break/ mid covid lockdown 1. Really impressed with the menu, the usual dishes are there with the addition of some lovely and unusal ones as well. Excellent choice of meat and vegetarian dishes. The owner and staff are welcoming and fun. Probably used it more since the change of ownership and will continue to do so.

Absolutely gorgeous food! I had the goat curry which was delicious. The meat just melted in the mouth. Everything else I had was equally delicious. Lovely friendly atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended and will most definitely be going back soon.

I don't normally leave bad reviews but on this occasion, this is sadly gonna have to be the case. We had a sit-in meal this evening on Sunday 3rd October. Our starters were very good indeed, admittedly. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case when the mains arrived. It was diabolical! The whole thing tasted as if the oil the chef used hadn't been changed in a while. This reflected first in the chips as a side, and then onto the main curry itself. The meat was also "tough as old boots" as you tend to say. And why do these chefs insist on putting too much salt into out food?! I gave up with the meal after about half a dozen spoon/fork-fulls. The reason for the two stars is that the service from the hostess was very good. Hasten to say,, after all that, I won't be returning any time soon...

First order from The Raj of India. Will certainly be back. Food was delicious. Very tasty & fresh. The naan breads were cooked well & had a great flavour. Chicken Tikka was succulent and the flavour was outstanding. Chicken curry was very tasty and likewise the rice. The rice was cooked to perfection. The salad was very fresh too. The service was excellent. Placing the order was very easy & our food arrived on time (in fact a few minutes earlier than expected).

We had a lovely tasty meal here. Hubby had Tandoori grill, which was a good size portion. I had Mushroom biryani with Channa aloo. Both very tasty, we struggled to finish it all. Sanitiser available and all staff wore masks, we felt very comfortable. Would recommend.

If you want to visit a Indian chain restaurant and be reserved the same ready made curries this is NOT the place for you. This lovely family run restaurant has always been a go to for me. Waiters always have a smile and food is always piping hot and delicious. Would recommend to anyone wanting home cooked Indian food. Dhansak is always perfection!!

Would not recommend or return in a hurry. Waiters didn't seem to know what they was doing. Very slow from sitting down to ask us for drinks - which were flat. Food was hardly edible - the prawns were hard, stringy and old. The chicken looked still alive. My whole party left most of our meal. Hygiene was not great, no masks, no social distancing and staff were in tracksuits. Had to ask several times to clear the table and get the bill as the staff were more intersted in setting a table for themselves to have dinner. No atmoshphere as they kept skipping every song half way through. Not worth the money or the possible risk of catching corona.

Food was very standard, service was rough. More onions mixed in the curry than lamb. Lamb was not tender very hard, tasted like re-heated. Sat to dine with government scheme but was not worked out correctly so ended up paying much more than anticipated. All food came out cold or luke warm. Was unwell after couple of hours.

Booked a table for my wife and I for 7pm Wednesday 9th August, arrived to find a woman changing a babies nappy in the hallway on top of a pram, so no evident washing room. On entering no evident sanitising stations/bottles. shown to our table which was less then one metre from the next full table of six, room was extremely hot despite ceiling fans and only one staff member wearing a face coveing which didn't cover his nose and it was filthy, had to ask for a menu after over ten minutes waiting, when it came it was a plastic covered and i asked if it had been wiped and sanitised, this seem to confuse a number of staff so at that point we decided to leave, Be aware No social distancing of tables and No sanitising going on, This is definitely a breeding ground for transmission of Covid 19.

This is the best takeaway and sit in restaurant I've been to and I've been visiting and getting Indian food for over 30 years and I've been all over England tasting these. This is superb food .

We visited here last night. I had booked a table but they were not expecting us and didn’t have the table ready. We waited nearly 2 hours for our food and the waiters were grumpy and unhelpful. We will not be returning

Visited tonight with friends. Booked a table for 8.30pm. Didn't seem to be expecting us. Table not ready and asked to wait. Took a long time for them to ask if we wanted a drink. Took almost 2 hours to receive our food. Had to ask how long it would be or we would have to leave. Left sitting with empty glasses for about half an hour and unable to attract the attention of the minimal waiting staff. Had to go up and ask for drinks and then then took about 15 minutes. While waiting at the bar to ask for someone to come and serve us I observed a member of staff wiping the rim of a dish of food ready to be served with his fingers and flicking the contents into a sink. When the food finally arrived it was very nice but we were so hungry and tired we were past eating!!The 2 tables next to us also waited 2 hours for their food. Only kitchen roll to dry your hands on in the toilet and the staff barely spoke to us. Would not go back.

Always order take away if want Indian or going for dinner if going out, chicken kurma is amazing

My family and i ate here during the Dickensian Christmas weekend,it is the fifth time i have visited and we were not disappointed. The food is always delicious and the staff friendly. Will be back next year.
