Lamb balti & keema rice - beautiful! Friendly helpful staff Was dead as early on a weekday, nice place to be for a good curry.

Initially I was going to give an average rating, but because the staff were rude at the end, it soured the mood. So to start with, the food is over-priced. Over-priced can work if your food is great, but the food here is not good. These are some of the most mediocre curries I have eaten in a long time. They do a "banquet" deal, which I will admit is a good deal for what you get, and the portion sizes are good. One of the servers was practically inaudible. Service was a basic standard, which brings me to the next point. When it came to paying for the meal, the card machine voided a few times, which was a problem on their end (otherwise it would have said declined). Secondly the server (not the inaudible one) got pissy when my wife selected no tip, he was aggressively ripping the paper off from the machine and avoiding eye contact. As I said before, the service was basic, so you do not deserve a tip. Even more importantly, you referred to her as a sir earlier in the meal so you dug your own grave. Get better.

We had a gorgeous meal. Great range of dishes, both traditional and less common. The service was excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. Highly recommended.

The fish dishes are expensive £22 and not brilliant. The prawn dish had only 2 big butterflied prawns for £18. overall it was average.

First time I’d been to the Cumin club in Rochester and I love round the corner… I’ll deffo be going back! Service was outstanding! Every member of the team was helpful, polite and always there when you needed something. The food… WOW! Amazing! Everything tasted exceptional!

This restaurant took my booking for a table and when we arrived I was kept waiting for 10 minutes as they looked for a table for me then said they had given the table away but we was on time Then asked me to wait for another 20 minutes for another table with no apology I would not go here again ever as the customer service was terrible

We received a recommendation to attend this local restaurant and was underwhelmed. We love indian food but this did not meet our standards or expectations. The wait was too long, the Shahi lamb which is featured as connoisseur cooking did not have any flavour at all and at the price was extremely disappointing. The same applied to maynamothi which was flavourless and the prawns were difficult to peel and no plate was provided for the shells. The food was not hot after a very long wait and when I pointed this out there was no acknowledgment or apology for this. Knowing your restaurant is fully booked and with only 2 staff working, is unprofessional and bared relevance to the service we received. We asked about allergies and requested water which we had to again request the information and water twice. But the peshwari nan was delicious!! As this is the first visit, I usually cut restaurants slack and will give them the opportunity to redeem themselves and will return one more time to assess.

Excellent my food was excellent beer was very nice and the staff very friendly if we are down that way again we will eat there again

My friend booked a table for us to have an evening meal here. We arrived slightly early but were welcomed and immediately shown to our table. The waiter was friendly and helped us with the menu. We asked for a vegan option menu and there was plenty of choice. The service was great and we never had to wait longer than fifteen minutes for food or drinks. The restaurant has a stylish decor and is clean and well presented. The toilets were spotless, which is always a good sign! We had poppadoms which came with tasty dips and then coriander mushrooms followed by two vegan curries with Chapati and rice. Honestly the food was up there with the best I have tasted, the fusion of flavours were amazing! I had Shobzi Tava and my friend had Shobzi Piaza. Reasonably priced and all in all a great experience. Thank you!

Absolutely fabulous meal. Very good service including happily preparing dishes not on the menu. LOTS of chicken tikka in the curries. Thoroughly enjoyed eating here and so glad we were not put off by some of the negative reviews we read on here. Great value too. Highly recommended.

Outstanding menu excellent menu

Disappointed tonight because the food is normally very good. I had a lamb madras and the lamb was really overcooked and tough.

Had to wait a hour and half for food to be served after order, very cold when arrived and meat in bhuna uneatable so unfortunately not happy.

Amazing food and the staff are great!

Came as a work office meal. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived, but it was only 6pm on a Monday. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good selection on the menu and we were informed they could prepare anything that wasn't on there. The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it! Would definitely return.

Brilliant food and excellent service! My best friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and we were glad we changed our plans last minute 😊

Food fantastic and brilliant staff

I recommended this place to my friend as a great place to eat, contemporary cuisine and excellent service. A lot had changed in 2 years. The service is still great but I felt they prefer to host larger groups because if you're a couple you'll be placed in a row down the centre of the restaurant so you feel like you're eating in a corridor. The 'connoisseur' menu sounds enticing as is a step away from your usual curry house offering and from experience was worth it but not this time. Chewy overcooked meat and over salted. On top of that the large groups of drunk middle age men trying to start fights with each other were equally off putting and we thought at one point our food and table would go flying. Could not wait to leave. Expensive for what it was.

Very poor, waited 90 minutes for main courses.. put next to the outside door which was opened every 30 seconds to freezing weather outside!! Disappointing experience

Terrible experience - food was cold and some of it uncooked. Wrong orders delivered repeatedly. It’s quite hard to mess up a curry dish but I’m afraid this restaurant managed it.

It was one of the best experiences of the day at the Dickens festival.

Came to Rochester for the night and found this Indian restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff and a great menu. Food was really nice with a focus on flavour rather than just heat! Reasonable price for 3 of us. Definitely recommend if passing through!!

The Cumin Club in Rochester High Street is a restaurant specialising in serving Indian food. The food which I had was delicious and the service was immaculate as were the drinks. The downstairs part of the establishment is for public eating but upstairs is a private function room with seating for about 30 places. Both restaurant and function room are ideal venues for a meal or event, highly recommended.

Arrived on spec to find most of the restaurant taken up with a works do. Nevertheless the attentive staff found us a space and fed us well. No pics of the food – we ate it! Recommended.

Had a delicious dinner here this week. Came in 30 minutes before they were closing, but still was welcome to have a meal. I thoroughly enjoyed my Chicken Balti buzzing with flavour and perfectly cooked. Staff were courteous and great to talk to. Would definitely return.

Slow service and cold food , my friend birthday , terribly service and slowly , 2 hours waiting for my dishes, never coming back..

Visited for the first time with my husband. We have just moved from Chatham to Rochester and we were looking for a new Indian we could get to on foot easily. Did not disappoint. Food was fantastic. Very tasty. We will definitely be returning.

Decent meal, easy than some to get a space as lots of tables! Great value too, stuffed for £17 each.

Booked a table in advance for 9.30pm on a Friday, we had barely sat down when the young waitress was trying to take our order. When we asked for a little time to choose from the menu, we were told the kitchen closed in 10 minutes!! The whole experience was not enjoyable, felt rushed from start to finish, food was just average, the waitress didn't smile once, customer service was appalling. Would never go back.

Huge menu but, the quality of the food is great.

Myself and two other mates just out for a a good curry. Service was good and friendly, didn't need to wait long for any of the food. The menu is huge and was worried if they would produce quality but, they certainly did. Nice atmosphere and staff friendly. Will return another time.

Ordered on Uber eats, when I added my curry to the basket it had the option to add rice, I added this but it didn’t work for some reason. Food turned up exactly when they said it would, realised I had no rice. Rang up and the guy was very helpful, he sent me a rice right away and I paid cash at the door. I’m so glad I waited for the rice, it was stunning! Lots of mushrooms in it (mushroom rice). I ordered the vegan masala, best curry I’ve had since going vegan! It was full of flavour and still had a creaminess to it that other places can’t seem to manage with vegan curry. Portions were big. The samosas were nice but nearly £5 I was expecting more than 2, so I won’t order those again. But overall I’m so happy and the vegan sections on uber eats app have so much choice! Thank you, I’ll be a regular customer :)

Attentive service and pleasant atmosphere, but food was average on the night we went. Somewhat disappointing but it may have been due to being exceptionally busy.

Cumin club did a private birthday party for me with 25 people as a buffet. It was awesome! The food was all hot and fresh and a lot different from your bog standard local Indians with some recipes we asked them to do which were not on their menu. Service was great and they were really thoughtful about ensuring there was enough of every dish when it ran out. I really hope I can find another excuse for a party with them soon!.

Been several times and never been disappointed

All very good but my spicy tikka masala I was promised failed to deliver. A friend's pathia didn't have any kick either. Overall, tasty, friendly staff, nice atmosphere but no punch where it was meant to be.

Worst Indian restaurant I’ve ever visited. My ‘hot’ Dhansak was tasteless and not remotely spicy. Drinks went flat within minutes. Samosa was tiny and not particularly tasty. Bland food - avoid.

Very disappointed, WORSE TAKEAWAY CURRY I'VE ORDERED EVER! A Prawn Bhuna curry is meant to have spice, there was 0 spice. I wanted a tasty curry for my birthday today as I haven't felt very well and instead I received such a bland curry, no flavour to it apart from the prawns. I have never been so disappointed with an Indian takeaway curry until this order!

Extremely disappointing experience. I hear raving reviews of this place all the time and went there last Saturday as a party of 3. We waited 50 minutes for starters. When we asked we kept being told it was coming and saw a table of 6 receive their starters AND mains during that time. Fair enough if they are busy but they mainly ignored us and the fact that we were waiting for ages, and didn't offer up anything upfront to make up for it. I heard another table of 2 say they had waited for an hour and a half. When our food finally arrived the lateness was barely acknowledged until I pointed it out, at which point a waiter said "I apologise" and it was only 5 minutes later that they reluctantly came back and said they would offer a discount for the trouble. I've been here on a Saturday night a couple years ago and never had to wait this long. The starters are £5.50 each for three small fried things on a plate. We ordered chicken tandoori which is placed amongst the mains section for £8.95, when it arrived to my surprise it consisted of one single chicken leg. They could at least warn you that you only get that much. A bottle of beer is nearly £7 each. The lamb tikka masala tasted like tomato sugar sauce with coconut and the lamb was chewy. The vegetable dhansak which is usually a spicy dish in other places was not spicy at all. When we asked for the bill it took 15 mins to come by which time I really just wanted to get out of there. They gave us a 20% discount which was generous of them but to be honest it was thoroughly underwhelming overall, I don't know if the drop in standards is because they're under new management or a new chef but we won't be going back there any time soon.

We visit the Cumin Club on a regular basis but not normally for a take away but with lockdown we had no choice. I have to say, whilst we’d have much preferred to eat in (the guys in the CC are really friendly and service is always great) our takeaway was wonderful and brightened up yet another boring night in!! I’d highly recommend a visit of any description.

Good food, full of flavour. Pretty big portions, too. Drinks can get expensive so keep an eye on that - may be worth asking prices when ordering to prevent a shock at the end. Curries can be a bit on the oily side. Good choice for vegans. They need to make this clearer on the menus, as I had to check a website to figure it out.

Absolutely disgusting service. Ordered food at 20.20. Had a 21.35 delivery slot. When calling the restaurant at 21.50 I was told food en route. At 22.00 when we called we were told it was a new driver who was lost. At 23.00 still no food and excuse via just eat is the driver couldn't find us!!!!!!! Even though we order from there weekly!!!!!!! The person from the restaurant taking our calls was rude, dismissive and blatantly did not care..... Our advice, save yourself the upset and inconvenience and order from elsewhere...... We will never order from here again!!!!!

Service has gone right done hill. Have used for a while now all been ok. Waited for over an hour for no delivery to show. Called restaurant to be told it was a new driver and couldn't find a road that has been here for the last 50 years. An hour later still no delivery call or a sorry. Restaurant now doesn't answer the phone. I would start clear of this place like a bad penny....

Thursday evening and didn't expect the restaurant to be busy....but the place was empty. Restaurant not to blame. I guess it's just because of the Plague. Food was good. Service was good and price reasonable. If the place had any atmosphere it would be excellent

Overpriced takeaway - 3 dishes were inedible. I'm not sure what was worse with the passanda; the look or the taste, equally as bad! Called the restaurant to complain and they advised they would refund 2 of the dishes. Have never received a refund. I am surprised to see the below reviews; it was honestly the worst curry we have ever received and needless to say we will never order from here again.

Try The Taj Restaurant in Orpington food is very nice

We ordered the banquet and the amount of food was quite nice, the mains are regular well known meals, with a fair meat-sauce ratio. The covid-19 safety measures are in place, as it was the discount govt scheme. We will try other dishes as well at some point.

I order online at Uber. Food was delivered in under 1 hour , good for a Saturday night . I’m amazed this is a 3.5 star on trip adviser should easily be 4.5 (I think the resteraunt are not encouraging people to leave reviews ) . The lack of reviews in itself is prob the reason . The food itself was really really nice lovely tender chicken. I’ll order again

For the last 2 Monday’s we’ve eaten there using the ‘eat out to help out scheme’ which is advertised all over the outside of the restaurant and it is clearly working as the restaurant was pack like we’ve never seen it before. In fact pre Covid-19 the Mrs and I have been the only people eating during the week. So the terms of the government backed scheme are 50% off up to £10 per head and this is conjunction with any other special deals or vouchers. So the first time we did get the 50% off their usual weekday meal deal, however the second time they had obviously decided to squeeze the packed restaurant for every penny they could and charged everything the full menu price and discounted £10 a head from that. The idea of the scheme is give the industry a well needed boost not to be abused by greedy business owners getting all the free advertising and extra customers, only to opt into the scheme for the parts that suit them and rip off previously loyal customers. We will not be returning anytime soon. The Shonza is just around the corner and I’ve never experienced underhanded behaviour like this from them, so we’ll be eating there from now on.

Ordered from them last night, Just Eat said it would be an hour, we called them to see if we collected our food could it be quicker. They said no they were busy and they would try but can't promise. They went above and beyond and got our food to us earlier than expected. The food was brilliant nothing we ordered was a disappointment thoroughly enjoyed our meal and can't wait to dine in when the restaurant reopens.

8 of us came here for a meal on a Monday night. Service was prompt and friendly and food was very good as usual. We asked for a number of dishes to be modified and for one not even on the menu and they obliged with no issues.

Although we had a table reserved for 21.00hrs when we arrived, there was no table prepared. The staff had to quickly prepare a spare table to accomodate us. The staff were very polite. The food was very bland and was quite expensive compared to other restaurants.

Prompt service by polite staff, prompt delivery of the food which was absolutely delicious. This was a special offer for the Dickensian festival and given that it was a 2 course meal was very reasonably priced. It was the best curry I have ever had, and hope to make another visit to Rochester in the summer just to eat at this restaurant again.

There is a large sign on the building saying 11.95 for a main, naan starter. The resulting bill was £60 for two as apparently not eligible for december. No one told us at the start. A rip off. Food was the quality of 11.95 for two courses ..

Exxtremely disappointing. The food was incredibly bland. My dining partner could not believe how bland and uninspiring her mains was ( Kazana Gosht.) My starter of Prawn puri was also bland as was my mains (Jalfrezi)The young waiter was a comedy of errors and l actually witnessed the barman pour a pint of beer into a used glass....I had not been for a long time since they conned me a few years ago. They used to have a midweek special: A starter, side, bread, rice and main for £11.95. which was fine. l ate there quite regularly for what l considered was a good price. I then returned and ordered my usual and was presented with a bill 3 times as high after l had eaten. I queried it and the manager informed me that they had stopped the offer but they still have the massive poster outside advertising it (It's still there today.) I returned expecting better things but walked away very disappointed.My dining partner was so angry that she refused to allow me to leave any form of a tip.

Took my wife, kids and numerous in laws for a birthday meal & was very disappointed, more so with the staffs attitude, particularly the guy in the white shirt and glasses who looked dressed as the head waiter. His service was rude and full of gestures that we all found really annoying, the expectation that we just pass our meals and drinks to each other I found strange, but when I got the wrong starter, the replacement was added to the bill!! The food was warm and the chicken tikka’s sizzle was a distant event by the time it arrived on the table. Their attitude worsened when the tip wasn’t given, deservedly so! Overall a poor Resturant, poor service and a nasty attitude when you, the paying customer are not scared of saying so. Don’t be fooled that if a Resturant is in a nice location that’ll will assumed it’s a good Restuarant, cos this one definitely isn’t!!

Had a great curry here service was good worth a visit

Great atmosphere, usual Bollywood films on the tv and polite staff. Starter was brilliant and all the others on the table of 19 looked just as good, Had a chicken biryani but was not impressed. Very bland, food was not hot and soon had to force it down.

The food and the attentive and welcoming staff make this beautiful restaurant what it is. This evening we took friends there and they were as impressed as we have been in the past. The gourmet banquet - for two or more people had us beat!! Hated to leave any but the portions were so generous.
